Is it only female medicine cats that can’t have kits/mates? Mudfur was the father of Leopardstar even though he was a medicine cat. But that never seems to be talked about as breaking the code.

Mudfur was a warrior when he had Leopardstar. After his mate died giving birth, he opted to become a medicine cat. He didn't break the code.

Didn’t BrightHeart make the point of one of the reasons she didn’t become a medicine cat apprentice (other than her age) was that she already had kits?

Wouldn't know.
I do know that medicine cats can have kits before they become a medicine cat or MCA.. they're just not supposed to when they're in the position. Age doesn't matter either.
You'd think Brightheart would be more concerned she'd have to dump Cloudtail over the kit thing.

Well BrightHeart had said she already had a mate and a kit. I know age doesn’t matter but it was Leafpool asking her who is quite a bit younger

I think it was because she already had a mate

Nah, she wanted to have more kits, she loved being a warrior, and she had a mate.

It isn’t allowed. Alderheart didn’t have kits with Velvet since he didn’t want to leave his post. The main reason for that rule was because medicine cats could favor their own kits over their Clanmates, which could be problematic, which can beg the question of if a cat who has already had kits could be a medicine cat. Technically, that rule could be contradicted because they would still value the lives of their kit more, even if it’s unintentional. Still, they technically wouldn’t be breaking the code since they already had kits before becoming a medicine cat.

Well at least on site, which isn’t the books. Windclan made the decision to ask Coldamber to disown her child. Maybe that’s what the take is.

While this is true there are some flaws. Isn't there a chance Leafpool would favor Squirrelflight? Or Jayfeather would favor Lionblaze and Dovewing? These cats have family members other than kits which they could put before the Clan. This makes the rule about no kits pointless, because even if Leafpool didn't have kits there's a chance she'd favor Squirrelflight, or Firestar, or Sandstorm, as they too are her kin.

I disagree and personally see Coldamber as the one responsible for her circumstances. Coldamber had the opportunity to reject the position or resign, so she made the decision to disown her family.
