The ebony she-cat walked at the head of the patrol, eyes and ears alert for any signs of danger. They were walking into possibly dangerous territory. She didn’t know where they were going, they were just exploring the place as they went. The atmosphere here was cold and chilling. She didn’t like it. This was place wasn’t vibrant and bright like SkyClan’s territory. This place was dark and if wasn’t a hard feat to spot a shrivelled up plant. With nervousness flickering in her icy gaze, she turned her head back to check that her patrol was still with her and nothing had happened to any of them. Shinefang, Kestrelshade and Smogheart were all there, safe and sound. It had originally been Grousestar’s idea for this herb collecting patrol, but in his ill state, it probably wouldn’t have been the best option for him to come along. So instead, Auroraflame had gone. Had it not been for Grousestar’s sickness, she wouldn’t have to be here and honestly she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be here. It had nothing to do with the unfamiliar territory that they were walking into, and it had nothing to do with who was in her patrol. Well actually, it did have a lot to do with who was in her patrol. Kestrelshade and Smogheart were fine, she didn’t mind them and thought that it would be fun to patrol with them, her only problem was Shinefang. In all honestly, she didn’t get along very well with the medicine cat and he probably didn’t like her very much either. Their last interaction hadn’t been a pleasant one and here they were, having to work together. It was bound to happen eventually but she hadn’t been hoping that it would be this soon.

Pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind, she turned her head back around and focused on where they were. She was mainly on the lookout for enemies, not herbs, which was what they were here for. She wasn’t good at spotting herbs. That was the kind of thing that Shinefang did. “Where do you want to go?” she asked, stopping and turning around to face the rest of the patrol. She was mainly talking to the medicine cat but she was open to opinions from Kestrelshade and Smogheart too.

Shinefang trod along with the patrol. Grateful as he was for the relief the willowbark gave him with his joint pain, the cold was doing him no favors. Still, he wasn't about to show weakness in front of Auroraflame. As far as she was concerns, he was going to look as spry as a cat half his age. The others, he didn't know well, but he also didn't want to look fragile in front of his clanmates if he could help it. This charade was getting harder to maintain the longer they trekked though. A couple times on the way here, he's spotted some herbs which had died out in the frost: a blackberry plant with leaves long shrivel in the frosty leafbare, some burdock leaves with roots embedded in ground to frozen to dig up. All of this while in an unfamiliar territory made him feel tense and on edge.

He turned to look at Auroraflame when she asked him for directions and squinted at her. "No idea. First time out here," he grouched at her. He parted his jaws and stood tall pulling in the scents of the territory air. Freezing as he caught a hint of something, the tom moved off to the side of the patrol and inspected some bushes with a cluster of fallen leaves piled at their base. He nudged a pawful aside and saw what he had scented. A stringy little thyme plant had managed to survive the cold. He frowned. Thyme was really only good for shock or anxiety, but having more couldn't hurt. "Well, here's a little something anyway," he announced, lowing his head to nip the base of two stems. That's all he'd take for now. He wanted to leave enough to help the scraggly thing recover when greenleaf came.

The tension between Auroraflame and Shinefang was visible. Smogcloud couldn’t help but notice. It seemed like Auroraflame was trying to set aside their differences, and Shinefang was trying to look like he was okay with he pace. It could’ve been something else, but overall, Smogcloud felt kind of awkward. They knew it wasn’t their place to interject, so they kept quiet, eyes on the foreign landscape. It was unnerving, to think they were treading the very same paths as their enemies. And it was quiet, almost no sign of cats having ever been there. Furrowing their brows, Smogcloud fell back to Shinefang, watching as he gathered a feeble few leaves from a sharp-smelling plant. What kind was it? Smogcloud didn’t think they had the skills to be a medicine cat. They didn’t think remembering all of the names of all of the herbs was an easy task. What if they made a mistake? What if some cat died at their paws? They’d never forgive themself. They were glad Shinefang was medicine cat. He wasn’t young, but what he lacked in youth, he made up in experience. The dark gray warrior gave a small smile.

The she-cat kneaded the dry ground beneath her as she impatiently awaited a reply from the medicine cat. Soon enough she was given an answer. It was a simple answer, and yet she had to use all her strength to resist the urge of rolling her eyes. They were here on a patrol, personal problems could be saved for later in more private conversations. She had to act professional in front of the other two. There was no need to act like two kits having a squabble. Yet the tom irritated her in a way that made her stop caring about looking professional and she rolled her eyes anyway. "Right," she muttered.
She had to admit, she was honestly rather surprised that Shinefang was able to keep up. But then of course, he was determined, any cat could see that. He was already determined enough to avoid the life of an elder and instead spend the rest of his days as a medicine cat. It would take some serious dedication to do something like that at Shinefang's age, and Auroraflame would've even admired him for it if she didn't dislike him so much.

She kept her icy gaze focused on Shinefang as he stalked forward and lowered his head to do something. He then raised in his head and clutched in his jaws was a measly plant. It looked familiar to her but she couldn't name the plant. "Do you want one of us to carry it so that you can collect other plants?" Auroraflame asked, keeping her voice calm and collected. This would be a good opportunity to see just how much the medicine cat trusted her. If he would let her look after a small plant then there might be a teensy tiny bit of hope for a friendship between the two in the future. If he chose to let one of the warriors hold it, they were probably never going to get along. Auroraflame wanted to tell him that she wouldn't be offended if he chose to keep the plant or hand it to someone else, but she decided that that would probably seem a bit weird.

"Yup," Shinefang replied tersely, padding to the center of the the patrol and laying the herbs on the ground, glancing at the warriors and Auroraflame in turn as he waited to see who would pick it up before turning away knowing that someone would. Whether it was Smogcloud, Kestralshade, or Auroraflame didn't matter just so long as he was able to keep scenting the area without the smell of herbs clouding his sense of smell. Parting his jaws again and having difficulty scenting anything other than frost in the air, the medicine cat grumbled and began to pad off in the direction of a more tightly clustered grove of trees. "Nothing else here," he shouted behind him as a signal that he wanted the patrol to move on with him. He slipped between among a cluster of leafless bushes and disappeared into the shadows of the denser woods.

“Uh, I’ve got it,” Smogcloud spoke up before they could mumble a “never mind”. They grabbed the herb, careful not to puncture the fragile leaves with their sharp teeth. The sharp scent blocked their sense of smell, so they had to rely on eyes and ears. They scanned the shadowy trees, which eerily reminded them of the Dark Forest. Perhaps the Dusk Syndicate cats who lived here served the Dark Forest. Smogcloud hadn’t thought of that before. It was far-fetched, but possible. They swore to themself then and there that they’d serve StarClan, and never the Dark Forest. They wanted to be remembered, but not like that. They didn’t get what drove evil cats to do what they do. What’s so good about hurting others? What’s good about power when it means crushing the weak and defenseless, rather than helping them? They may not have been outspoken, but Smogcloud had questions. Maybe it was for the better that they were never answered.

Kestrelshade sniffed fearing an enemy she mumbled under her breathe “How do we know the Dusk Skyndicate is gone, it could easily have reformed and avoided contacting us, we better be prepared for an attack.” She mused flicking her eyes around the surroundings, she hoped she wouldn’t get attacked.

The tom gave the herbs to the ground, which gave her no sign of anything. Sighing, Auroraflame stepped forward to grasp the plant in her jaws but Smogcloud beat her to it. "Thanks," she said, flashing the warrior a small smile before turning her gaze to rest it on Shinefang. The medicine cat seemed to be wandering around and sniffing at the bushes nearby. She didn't move from where she stood, following after him with her eyes instead and at the same time, trying to listen for any enemies approaching.

She briefly glanced at Kestrelshade as she spoke up before looking back at the tom and processing the question in her mind. "I've sent a good amount of patrols along the border to keep out for signs of anything. Nothing peculiar has been spotted though we do need to be careful for stray syndicate cats who've dared to come back," she replied. She wished that she could give a more certain response, one that would reassure them that nothing would attack them, but she didn't know for sure. Auroraflame herself had walked along the border many times before, searching through the territory as best she could from where she stood. She'd seen nothing but that didn't mean she was completely sure that nothing was left. In fact, this patrol was more of an opportunity for her to check for hostile cats, rather than just collecting herbs.

"We should follow Shinefang before something jumps out at him," she said, and after beckoning to the other two cats, she scurried after the medicine cat, eyes and ears alert for any signs of danger. The territory was dark and the sun was seemingly dimmer here. It sent shivers running down her spine and she kept close to the others. There was safety in numbers after all and running through unexplored territory made her nervous.

(Sorry for the small delay. Long story.)

The grove in which Shinefang had slipped was quiet, and dim. Thin lines of light slipped between the bare branches overhead. It was quieter here. Shinefang took a breath, grateful for the moment alone. He hadn't been on a patrol in some moons and spent more time alone or almost alone with his thoughts, his herbs, and his patients than he ever had. He had gotten used to the relative stillness. But he wasn't here to slack either. The ground here was on a downward slope, and about five fox lengths up ahead, he could see frozen soil from more wet, boggy terrain. He padded toward it, hearing the frozen clumps of dead leaves crunching beneath his paws as he approached a tree and and braced his forepaws against the smooth bark. He dug his claws into a lose piece and pulled it loose with a small grunt. The wood beneath was red as blood. "Alder. I thought so," he said out loud. He turned his head sideways and gripped the edge of the bark like he was peeling the trees skin off, pulling it free and letting strips drop to the ground. He perked his ears and looked behind him, imagining the others wouldn't be far behind. "I'm over here," he called, his eye quickly surveying the space around him as he parted his jaws to scent any cats he didn't recognize. Finding nothing, he sratched down another bark strip.

Smogcloud tasted the bitter herb, the juice seeping into their throat. As careful as they were, they couldn’t stop the trickle of foul juice. They kept themselves from retching, but stayed still. They stiffened as the forest seemed to get darker. The shadows seemed darker, more menacing somehow. They stepped back, overwhelmed with emotion. Then, they shook out their fluffy pelt. No, they were there to help. Not run. They kept their stormy blue eyes open for danger as they followed the patrol.

The ebony deputy let the the medicine cat slip away to go wherever he wanted to go and focused her attention on the surrounding territory. Her eyes and ears looked relaxed from a distance but up close you could see that they were alert and ready. Anytime she heard a noise, the deputy would flatten her ears against her head and whip her head around to look for the source. Most of the time it was just one of them stepping on a twig and making it snap. Maybe she was overreacting but she knew of what danger lay in these woods. Even though the clans had destroyed the Dusk Syndicate, she still didn’t trust those ruthless cats to stay away.
Upon hearing Shinefang’s call, the she-cat scurried forward quickly and beckoned to the other two cats, making sure that they didn’t get left behind as they kept an eye out for enemies as well. She found the tom picking at some kind of red wood. It looked somewhat familiar to her however she couldn’t name it. The she-cat stood there trying to figure out what the bark was called but eventually came to the conclusion that she wasn’t curious enough about the bark to stop keeping her eye on the territory. She could just ask Shinefang but in all honesty, she would prefer to avoid exchanging any words with the tom. Auroraflame quickly forgot about it and overheard Kestrelshade’s muttered words. “Stay close to the group and make sure nothing can get even close to us then,” she advised. “He’s not having us patrol here, we’re simply here to make sure that nothing hurts Shinefang,” she continued. She didn’t say it out loud, but she knew that aside from protecting the medicine cat, she was actually here to do a bit of patrolling. She didn’t want to tell her clanmates though. As guilty as she felt about hiding things from her clanmates, she didn’t want them to worry. She suspected that there were still Dusk Syndicate cats in the dark territory, but it would be best if the others believed that they were here for a simple herb-collecting patrol.

Ripping one last strip of bark for the tree with his teeth and adding it to his sizeable pile, Shinefang looked up at Auroraflame with a twitch of his shredded ear. "Right. I'm so delicate, you see," the tom battle-scarred cat snarked, looking at Kestrelshade, and shoving the pile of bark toward her. "If you've got a toothache, you're in luck," he said simply. Not bothering to explain anything else about the herb. "Looks like this grove is just more of that. We can go ahead an move on. What I'd love to find out here is whatever passed for a camp and medicine den. I'm guessing the foxhearts took whatever they could carry when they left, but you never know. No idea where that could be though," he said out loud to the group, hoping someone might have an idea.

Suddenly, their ears were pricked and their blue eyes were scanning the shadows around them. Kestrelshade’s words had them alert. Better safe than sorry, right? But along with this renewed alertness, they felt as if they were being watched. Their fur crawled. They looked behind them several times, the herbs clamped firmly between their jaws.

“ You guessed right girl” said a dark husky voice, A tom with a pelt as black as night yet was messy and held the scent of blood and death on it, blood dripped onto the floor coming from his closed eye and a deep wound on his shoulder, as he stepped forward limping a bit with one good ice blue eye staring them down with such hate, anger and a pure need to simply tear them apart but he kept his anger in. He was already old and beaten by his own flesh and blood might as well go down with some pride. He breaths out letting out a dark chuckle as his claws dig into the ground. “ A deputy? And a medicine cat along with some warrior am I right? “ he says darkly as he slashes his tail and held his head up laughing dryly “ at least I die with honor huh? I am Killer, former Dusk syndicate warrior until they failed horribly. I may not have been loyal to them but it was a pain to know they failed something that could have been easily killed if they actually had a real plan. The syndicate lead by a kit who couldn’t have their way in the world... yet I am no different. I wanted power and now look at me, I’m just some old cat injuried and beaten like some fresh kill...: tell me your names “ he says coldly as he looks at them. “ tell me the names of the cats that will most likely end my life... at least give me the pride of death Starclan... Pedrichor padded through the remains of the Dusk Syndicate's former home. In his mind, he assumed it wouldn't be bleaker and somehow different then Howe they left it. That was not truth, though. The trees were as tall and dark as ever and the birds still twittered away in the branches above his head. Missing, though, was the sound of cats in the undergrowth. They no longer stalked these woods with power of hostility and intimidation. They were gone now, away from their former home. However, Pedrichor had been back to revisit his old home, reminiscing about what it was like to live here, to prowl the forest in full knowledge that he belonged somewhere. He hadn't much company since the group had disbanded, and found himself longing for company.

The tom was winding down another familiar path when he heard voices. Freezing in his tracks, the skinny tom cat blinked and focused his senses on the noise. More than two cats, it seemed, and not in a hurry to move along. As he listened, one word broke through out of the others; Shinefang. So it was Clan cats here in his territory, not one of his own former Syndicates. Pedrichor lashed his tail as anger coursed through the tom like a fiery snake, twisting and thrashing through his body. What were they doing here; what could has former territory give these cats who had so fiercely drove them out? His thoughts of anger and disbelief were interrupted by a colder voice, and he could tell by the hostility that this newcomer wasn't fond of the Clan cats either.

I am Killer, former Dusk syndicate warrior until they failed horribly. These words cut through him as Pedrichor realized who this was. Though he himself had never met this other Syndicate, as they were many in number, the tom felt a surge of loyalty; he had to stand with Killer, alongside his former Syndicate member! Sliding out of the bushes, the tabby tom narrowed his gaze and stood just to the left of the black male. A cold expression covered his hollow features and dark shadows alighted under his eyes; he hadn't been taking as good care for himself as he had while part of a group. Although he was certainly an embarrassment to beautiful cats around the territory, a hint of his handsomeness still found a place in his keen, mysterious gaze and the smooth, swagger walk. He didn't feel the need to be presentable when he hadn't encountered another soul for quite a while. His scruffy features gave him the appearance of a once strong feline gone to seed; a lion without its mane, so to say.

"Yeah," Auroraflame muttered sarcastically in response to Shinefang's comment. Although she sounded sarcastic, she wasn't entirely sure as to whether she really was being sarcastic or not. The she-cat was annoyed at how little appreciation or gratitude the medicine cat had that they were here with him. Although she secretly believed that he was capable if fighting if he needed to defend himself, she wasn't quite so sure that he could save himself if a band of syndicate cats attacked him alone. He wouldn't stand a chance. Syndicate cats were ruthless afterall. Auroraflame would've appreciated some kind of a thanks, rather than a snarky attitude.
Auroraflame glanced at Kestrelshade as she muttered once again. The deputy let out a quiet sigh. The Bombay could understand why she was being so cautious, though the constant remarks were starting to become a little annoying. All she had to do was hear something like it one more time and she'd become a little snappy. "Just keep watching out fo-", the she-cat was cut short as a deep voice let out a chuckle behind them. She whipped around, her claws unsheathing simultaneously. An unfamiliar and beaten up cat now stood before them, reeking of syndicate scent. Auroraflame bared her teeth in warning. She didn't interrupt the tom as he spoke. Instead, she used the time to study him. He wasn't in good condition, clearly suffering from the battle that had occured a few moons ago. She stepped forward threateningly, her hackles raised and body tense. He wanted to know her name? I don't think so, she thought darkly. Another cat suddenly stepped out and she growled. Another one? At least they still outnumbered the Dusk Syndicate cats. Hopefully there weren't anymore cats hiding in the bush, ready to spring out and attack them. "As appealing as the idea of sending you to hell with my name is, I don't think you're worthy of knowing it," she said coldly. Her icy blue hues were cold and unwavering.
The idea of taking their lives was rather appealing to her. It was a bad thought and probably against the Warrior Code, but their kind had murdered her sister and she wanted her revenge. The Warrior Code told her that this wasn't the right thing, but family came first.
The she-cat raised her tail, showing the patrol behind her to not attack but be ready to in case she gave the signal. She wanted to see if they had a reason for being here first.

Kestrelshade’s claws were unsheathed as she narrowed her dark green eyes at Killer and the molly who she assumed was Killer’s mate her groomed black pelt shining in the sunlight why is Auroraflame not letting us shed these two Syndicate cats? she wondered she tore at the grass with her front claws the Dusk Syndicate took her first litter by killing Jaypaw and Dawnpaw as for her other child in that litter, well Fernpaw joined the Dusk Syndicate at seven moons old and she probably went by the name of Fern and died in the battle. She could lunge at those two cats, but this excuse for a deputy and loyalty was stopping her. Her back was arched and she knew she could spring in any second, but she had to wait for Auroraflame’s command.

Along with the gravelly sound of an older tom cat’s voice, Shinefang caught the scent of blood on the wind. He instinctively turned with his claws unsheathed to wheel on the what had to have been a formerly Syndicate cat based on the stink, his jowls wrinkling as he bared his fangs. Auroraflame has already spun to face the intruder. But once he had a second to look at the Black tom, he saw that he was limping. Badly hurt from the looks of him. Shinefang took a curious step forward with tightened muscles but a flat-lying pelt to get a slightly better look. Sure enough, the old tom wasn’t exaggerating. He didn’t have another fight left in him. Letting his gaze soften a little, Shinefang looked atthe old black tom and said. “Doesn’t it make more sense to get your wounds treated? One old timer to another, you and I both know there’s no dying with honor. There’s just dying. And we can always do that later.” Emboldened, the scarred tom took another step closer so he was about neck and neck with the Skyclan deputy. With his good eye, he shot her a look that asked for her trust. Though he knew she’d probably be in no mood to give it. “What do you say old tom? Let me bandage your wounds instead?” The offer was barely out of his mouth when another cat crept forward from the shadows and stood beside the first, a look of intent to attack plain on his face. He froze, casting a weary glance around him at the surrounding trees as he began to wonder how many more would appear.

Smogcloud pricked their ears, swiftly spinning around to stare at a mangled, older cat. As they listened to his monologue, they couldn’t help but feel pity. This former Dusk Syndicate Member was practically begging for death. Killer (even the bame gave them shivers) seemed intent on knowing their names. As Smogcloud was about to comply, Auroraflame spoke. It seemed no other cat shared their pity for the older cat. Then, Shinefang offered healing. ‘Thank StarClan Shinefang has some sense,’ they thought, loosening their shoulders. Then, another cat crept out of the foliage; a much younger, healthier looking one. This one really did give them shivers down their spine. He - they assumed it was a he - looked wild and ragged, yet still dignified and proud. He would probably fight them if Killer told him to. Or if he wanted to. Smogcloud didn’t know how the Syndicate worked. Setting their herbs beside them, tucked under a root, they opened their mouth to speak. “I wish you no harm. I am a warrior. I will grant you mercy, as the Warrior Code states.” They looked at Auroraflame, who seemed angry. They hoped their words impacted someone, at least a little bit.

He closes his eyes “ .. it would make sense if I had any honor at all. These wounds came from my own kits, who would have killed me if not for the fire. If you know them then you should know that they are stubborn, if you let me live. If you save me and try to change me they will come after me again and again until I die or they have torn me apart piece by piece..” he opens his eyes and glares at them “ I used to care about your clan, you’re clan held the most beautiful of cats especially my mate breezeplet... now she’s dead. Because of you!” He growls now stepping forward his claws out and his one eye blazing with anger, “ I was once a part of your little clan yet you did nothing when my mate needed you most! She was going to have kits now she’s dead! No y’all won’t remember that why? Because a warrior’s life is just a pawn for some big guy with more than one life.” He growls loudly “ I don’t want your healing or your medicine. I want death! Either you’re going to stand up and be the so called warriors you are and do it, or I’ll do it myself. I have nothing to live for and I can’t go back to the city since I know they’re there roaming and waiting for me. But how about I tell you who they are? “ he smiles darkly “ they Are named diablo, Lucifer, Hades, Frost, Sano, And Verity... two have become warriors like you the rest are either killing each other or trying to find me... now than are we going to do this or is this just some little gathering where we pick little flowers and try to be friends.. not me” He growls as he looks at Pedrichor “...... you have Lucifer’s scent on you. Did he flirt with you or something?”

Pedrichor's gaze remained narrowed as he took in the cat's before him and Killer. The one who had spoken first, with much contempt and scorn in her voice, sent a shiver of anger down his spine. Who was she to deem them worthy of such a thing as a name? However, despite his internal fury, his remained in his proud stance while fury danced a dark dance in his sharp, calculating green gaze. His ears gave a twitch as he met the other female lined up opposite to the left of him. Her own green gaze held a fury harsher than his own, and he was rather curious at what set her in such a temper. Was it just their presence, or had it been more than that? He sensed there's may be a grudge, but was pretty sure his own curiosity would only be taken with a tidal wave of hostility. Looking toward the next two cats, a rather old looking tom and one who carried herbs. Pedrichor listened to the words spoken to Killer by both and surveyed the situation body tense as he took the cats under his wary watch. What do you say old tom? Let me bandage your wounds instead? at this, he gave a small snort of amusement. He may not know Killer well at all, but he was fairly positive that the ragged male would not take kindly to being called 'old timer' by anyone, especially not one of Clan blood.

His previous assumption was proved partially correct, from what he could distinguish from the former Dusk Syndicate's rush of words. He was pretty sure that Killer had once claimed ties to the Clan that these cats came from and now wanted to die, not have his wounds treated. If the old, battered tom cat went on fanning the fury of the started fire between them and the Clan cats, this would end in a fight. Although Pedrichor was a rather hostile character by upbringing, he sure as hell didn't want to combat with these strong-looking warriors. They were both outnumbered and greatly weakened. His thought process was interrupted when he heard the tom address him. Pedrichor clenched his jaw as Killer spat out his assumption. The memory of meeting Lucifer was still fresh in his mind, though hadn't occurred recently. In fact, it had been before he cleansed himself in the river, leaving himself with only the scent of riverwater. And besides, Killer himself had been there, he now remembered with a jolt. He had practically killed his own brother! Shaking off the unfair accusation of him flirting, Pedrichor allowed himself a light snarl of anger, the former feeling of loyalty to this ragged excuse for a cat all but extinct. "You happen to be misguided in your accusation." Pedrichor hissed through his teeth, wary gaze fixed back on the Clan cats. "I have had no such communication with this brother whom your speak of." His claws dug into the ground. If they played their pawns right, a battle would be, needless to say, unnecessary. However, a wry thought occurred to him. If Lucifer indeed wanted to die here and now, Pedrichor may as well have proclaimed his own death wish himself. A drowning man will always drag someone down with him, as the saying went. Pedrichor dearly hoped that this was not the case.

Auroraflame dug her claws into the ground, ready to pounce the moment one of the syndicate cats moved. She noticed a movement and opened her jaws, ready to yowl out an order of attack, but she paused as she realised that it was Shinefang who had moved. Shock glittered in her icy hues as the tom stepped forward and offered to bandage the injured cat’s wounds. “Shinefang…” the deputy warned. She stepped forward, ready to defend the medicine cat in case one of them decided to jump at him.
She whipped around to watch in amazement as Smogcloud spoke out words of peace. Did she not have any warriors who saw the monster inside of these cats? To be fair, she was blinded with rage and her warriors were really making perfect sense. But it didn’t make any sense to the Bombay in this moment. Se quickly glanced at Kestrelshade and immediately the fury in her eyes. A wave of satisfaction rippled through her. At least someone had some sense in their mind.
“Because of us?” She repeated, astonished at his accusation. “We don’t kill our own, unlike you!” She snarled, furious that the tom thought so horribly of SkyClan when really they were the bad ones. The name Breezepelt was rather unfamiliar to her. She had the feeling that she’d heard it before, but she hadn’t been familiar with the cat. As the battered tom continued, Auroraflame let out a laugh with no humour. “You silly cat. A warrior’s life is not something that can be just thrown away. Warriors fight for their clan and give their lives up for the sake of their clan. Each cat is just as important as another.” The deputy was basically trembling with anger. The tom acted as if though his mate’s death had been a waste. Of course it wasn’t a waste! She was insulted by how the tom thought that they didn’t care if a member of their clan died. She hated how he seemed to think that he and his mate were the only ones who had suffered because of the other. She had lost her sister to a Dusk Syndicate cat and she wanted nothing else more than revenge.
Auroraflame snorted. “And how much do you think I care about your kits or their names?” She said, rolling her eyes. They were probably just selfish and blinded cats like their father. It wouldn’t be long now before she launched an attack on the two. She watched as the two syndicate cats spoke about some cat named Lucifer. It was at that moment that she realised that they had to attack now whilst they were distracted.
“SkyClan, attack!” she yowled before she launched herself at Killer, aiming to bowl the tom over.

Pedrichor fur spiked all the way on his skinny spine as he heard the fierce she-cat's commanding yowl. SkyClan, attack! His eyes widened as battle erupted around him. He stood as though rooted to the spot; this fight was, first of all, unnesicarry, and second of all, deadly for him and Killer. These cat selfies were going to kill, and had something worth fighting for besides themselves. As Auroraflame leaped for Killer, attempting to bowl him over, Pedrichor shook himself from his thoughts. Instead of fighting alongside Killer, the tom turned around; Let him fight this SkyClan cat by himself. Upon his own head he had brought this fate and Pedrichor didn't fancy inviting himself in on their battle. He spotted two of the four croughinh together behind the three battling cats. Well, he thought wryly, he sure wasn't going to run away like a coward, and, as ruthless as he could be, was not going to do any more than defend his honor by giving these cat stars a few scars to reminisce about. With a guttural grown deep in his throat, Pedrichor flew at old tom and the cat beside him. Claws outstretched, he aimed to bowl the male over.

As Auroraflame flew threw the air, many thoughts raced through her head. What was she doing? She was leading her clan into a situation of unnecessary violence. For a moment, the deputy lost some of the confidence that she had in herself. That was all it took for her pounce to become unfocused and she landed a short distance away from the tom, staggering a few steps forward. She tensed her muscles, ready to spring again in case the tom in turn attacked her. But it seemed she had nothing to worry about, as Kestrelshade attacked the old tom instead. Auroraflame panted and let her head droop towards the ground. I should call off the attack. Save some blood while I can, she thought. The deputy was coming to her senses and remembering that the Warrior Code told them to show mercy. Embarrassment, anger, confusion and a few other emotions clouded her mind. She had the urge to tell them to stop, but that would make them look weak. She felt embarrassed that she as the clan’s deputy was starting this, but then again, was it really wrong what she was doing? Had the Dusk Syndicate cats shown any mercy as they decided to pick off their clanmates and start unnecessary fights before? Had they shown any mercy when they’d fought and killed they’re clanmates in the large battle? No, no they hadn’t. Why should we show them any compassion if they haven’t given us a single piece of it? She thought. The deputy was starting to get her confidence back. Technically they weren’t attacking innocent cats. These cats were the ones who had started it long ago. SkyClan would’ve been willing to live alongside them in peace but these ruthless killers weren’t willing to listen. They had killed their own clanmates so now it was time for payback. Auroraflame glanced at Smogcloud, who was crouched down next to Shinefang. She could tell that the warrior didn’t approve of this but they could rebuke her later for as long as they wanted. She was going to avenge her clanmates no matter what other cast thought. She could be judged and punished for it later.

Shaking her pelt, the deputy took in a deep breath and then exhaled. She looked up, ready to help Kestrelshade but faltered in her step as she noticed a cat flying towards the medicine cat and the warrior beside him. “Watch out!” she yelled in warning, already moving to stop the cat. She briefly glanced back at Kestrelshade. The she-cat would be fine. She was younger and in better shape than the tom. It would be an easy fight for her. She didn’t need any help. This other cat however wasn’t as battered up as Killer was and could be a problem. Against three however, she doubted there was any hope for him.

Then, they lunged for the tom’s scruff, wanting to pin the cat. They would follow the warrior code and grant mercy, not kill.

As the old tom cat slid his claws against Pedrichor's own underbelly, the younger tom cat let out a guttural howl of pain and rage that echoed in his throat. The scratches on his belly that were just beginning to finish healing were reopened and joined with new slices through his skin and fur. Half blinded with the rush of a fight and pain, he swiped blindly at the SkyClan trespasser. His sharp paws collided with the old cat, though what part of him he was unsure of at the present moment. He was about to land another blow on the cat he was grappling with when he heard a sharp yowl. The she-cat who had held back from the other bossy she-cat's order had sprang at Pedrichor. "Two against one?! I thought you Clan cats fought with justice!" His accusation, though, could've been thrown back at him had their positions been switched. If he'd had the numbers, he sure wouldn't have challenged one on one. As she latched her claws into his back, Pedrichor was practically shaking with energy. He shoved the older tom away with a massive heave and rolled onto his back. He wasn't much larger than the she-cat on his back, but he hoped to at least squash her enough for her grip to loosen and her breath to be knocked out.
