Who remembers by first EVER roleplay on this site, back in that winter time so long ago when I had joined? That was almost ten months ago, just a handful of weeks short of a whole year. I wanted to wait until November 19th to post this, as a true anniversary, but I just couldn't wait!
So how about we start with the rich history of this clan. Which has been based down over countless generations of cats...
Many generations ago, a former kittypet who took the name Birch, came across a mighty land to call her own. At the time, she was only just a small kit, wandering around. It is said she was rescued by a battle scarred old tom who lived in that land. He took her in and raised her, teaching her to be fierce and strong.
After this tom died, Birch was in mourning and decided to walk around searching for the perfect burial place when she found hungry young cats in a flower patch. She took them to her place and they told her how they ran away from their clan, and she became intrigued. She wanted to make a home for cats who didn't have one, she wanted to make a clan which would protect them.
She taught the young cats how she hunted in the rocky terrain and they taught her how clan life was. Gradually, she invited more loners and kittypets into her clan, which she called Brokenclan for the sole reason that broken cats become whole here. But, it wasn't yet a clan. The original young cats told Birch she needed to take on her nine lives and a leader's name, so together they found a place in which to speak with Starclan.
Birch became Birchstar, and the cats of Brokenclan took on warrior names, and the true clan began. Birch lived long, but she never had kits, only finding love soon before her death with the retired medicine cat, a tom who she had loved for moons but they both pushed the feelings away as to not break the warrior code.
The clan continued on, and now, countless seasons after the death of the great Birchstar, here we are.
(A longer version of the history will be written!)
||(Territory)||
If you have soft paws, this is not the place for you. All cats here have strong pads which aren't easily wounded. A lot of the territory is made up of rock but there is also a good chunk of tree-covered places. The camp is higher up, providing good protection. Smooth rock curves down from the cave, pointing up sharply in some areas and a wind-carved trail splits parts of it. At the end of the stone, the grass starts to grow to the north, a hollow surrounded by a sort of soft stone full of tiny holes with weird trees growing out of these walls as well as a few in the hollow. Herbs and flowers grow near a small stream which trickles through stones at the edge of the hollow, beginning out of the wall from seemingly nowhere and filling a small pond which holds a few small amphibious creatures. Then there is a small forest of sorts, undergrowth covering the ground under whatever trees grew. The hollow was quite large, bigger than the camp, and this is where cats are buried and kits come to play during new-leaf, as well as being where cats do main battle training. Other than this, the terrain is rocky but mostly pretty even, a cat wouldn't have to climb much if they didn't want to. More streams and rivers flow through the area holding larger fish and there is a few other areas with grass and plants grow, and weird trees sometimes grow where the soft stone is.
Past the north hollow is really nothing much for them, but if you travel half a day you reach an area that stoops down real low and the stone stops in place for a proper forest where no-furs live in their wooden dens and, a well way away, the silver moss grows in an underground area where cats speak to Starclan.
||(Camp)||
The camp is in a cave higher up than the most of the ground. You go to the top of the stone and it flattens out around the entrance of the cave. You go in and the ground turns soft and grass actually grows in here. The top of the cave is open, sunlight floods in as well as rain and snow getting in, only the edges of the cave being covered by the stone roof. A dead, hollow tree sat in the center of the clearing, ferns growing thickly around it and covering an entrance into the tree. The Leader sleeps here and jumps to the only sturdy branch when it is time for announcements. There is a flat stone at the back of the cave, a hole underneath it which fresh-kill is placed, protected from the weather by the stone. At the entrance of the cave, a bush grows in front of a small tunnel leading off from the main clearing. The small tunnel holds the store of herbs, as well as being the den where the Medicine Cat and their apprentice sleep, while their patients sleep under the bush away from healthy cats.
The warrior's den and the apprentice's den are pretty simple. They are large bushes, bigger than the medicine den's one, that was built up by the clan cats with leaves and sticks to keep out the elements and to be big enough for all the cats. The nursery is the longest tunnel leading off, brambles placed at its entrance to protect those in it. It's pretty dark in the end of the tunnel, but not that dark. It is warm and comforting, the most protected place in the cave. Near the fresh kill pile, there is a small crack in the wall, just big enough for a cat, that opens into another small area. It's not much like a tunnel like the other areas, but just an opening covered in soft ferns and a low roof.

Fish- The cats here have great respect for the fish in their streams, believing they bring the mysterious water which runs in the north hollow, so they don't hunt them very often, mostly in the winter when prey is scarce or when they can tell there is enough in the streams to spare.
Mice, Voles, and Squirrel- These small creatures are pretty common, living among the roots of the trees in the soft stone, and eating the grain from stalks that grow in clumps on the territory.
Birds- Common robins and black birds are occasionally caught, though it is not the strong suit of the cats. Hawks are caught at times too, though there aren't as many hawks as one would expect in this terrain, only one or two every few seasons.
Toads/Frogs- The stream holds these animals at this is a plentiful treat for the clan, as well as salamanders being caught for the kits to play with the tiny prey.
