Creekrunner nodded but didn’t respond to the discussion of Windclan, choosing instead to meow, let’s head out.” The walk to the border was short and uneventful, but once they reached it, the tom stopped and gestured to the scent line, “how do you feel about splitting up and taking different sections to mark? It’ll pass the time quicker.” The silvery tom took a few steps forward and rubbed his cheek against a scraggly tree, leaving his scent upon the rocky side.

Darkpaw nodded in acknowledgement, going over to a bush and marking a spot there.

Silvershade would walk beside the patrol, casually rambling about useless things to pass time. "Sounds good!" They replied, straying a bit from others but still in sight. They rolled on the ground, letting their scent waft before brushing up against a tree. Their feathery tail flickering.

Breezefeather nodded. "Yes it is Riverclan's territory that lies across the border. I don't know how much you know about them, but they get their food from the river, they fish fish out of it and they even swim." He shook his fur shivering, "It is not a nice feeling to be swimming, I still don't know how they're able to handle it." He shook his head and then continued, walking along the border slowly. "So this is the border that we share with them. It's extremely important never to cross it, as it often leads to conflicts with the other clans. We're just here to mark them and make sure none of them are crossing to our side of the border. Let me show you how to mark it." With that he walked over to the landmark that formed part of the scent border and marked it before going back to Echopaw. "I'll have you mark the next markers we come by."

Creekrunner trotted all the way to the end of the scent line, where the river formed itself into a gorge, and began to work his way back. He rubbed against each large rock and solid reed patch or scraggly tree, pausing for a moment each time to sniff the air and ensure his scent lingered. The line seemed strong, but that didn’t mean they didn’t need to replenish it well- slacking while marking their territory was what would invite other clans to start fudging the boundary lines. Before you knew it, Riverclan would have half the territory and the other clans would be learning how to fish. The tom chuckled to himself at the image of the other clans attempting to learn to swim and suddenly he wanted to see one of those big, long-furred Thunderclanners struggle in the river without the sleek oil Riverclan cats produced. Creekrunner shook his head and kept going, keeping one eye out for nearby Windclan patrols and the other at the level of the water, which seemed to be higher than normal.

Darkpaw trotted alongside her mentor, stopping to rub against a tree; she paused before continuing onward, glancing at the river.

Echopaw smiled when she was correct, "yeah, I knew little to nothing about the other clan..." echopaw listened to what he had to say and why the border was so important. She nodded as he finished to show she understood and watched him rub against a scent marker to show his scent. Echopaw once again nodded, "how many scent markers are there?" she tilted her head slightly in curiosity.

Silvershade would mark along the border, the silence was so.. awkward. They raised an brow when they caught Darkpaw staring at, "Woah. " They blinked, approaching the river. They walked to the edge of the bank, leaning over slightly to gaze at the rushing water. Silvershade flinch back when water droplets hit their face. They stuck out their tongue childishly, letting out a small huff. "Well jeez, don't have to be rude do ya?" The warrior would murmur to the river. Seriously! So! Rude! Silvershade whirled around dramatically, "Alrighhhttt! Where else do we need to mark?" They questioned. Were they almost done? It felt as if it by so quick..

Breezefeather nodded as she asked her question. "There are quite a few scent markers, these are mainly landmarks like I said. So I would guess from here to the Thunderclan border there are 5 land markers that qualify as scent markers that the patrol would have to mark." With that he trudged on and as he walked he kept pointing out the different land markers and explaining which of those where there as scent markers and those of which were just landmarkers that lined the border. He stopped, they were soon near their border to Thunderclan and nodded at the scent marker, this time it was a tree. "You can go ahead and scent mark this. It's just like I showed you how to do."

Creekrunner snorted in amusement as Silvershade spoke to the river, walking up beside the other cat to look down at the water too. The river was swollen with ice melt, but it also seemed to be going down. Creekrunner didn’t think there was a flood warning in the raised waves lapping at the shore, but he thought he might report on the state of the river just in case. Water droplets splashed onto his nose too and the tom blinked his yellow eyes. “It got me too,” he chuckled to Silversahde before shaking the water from his muzzle and stepping back. “Seems we’re done here,” he called to the two patrol members, “you both feel satisfied that the we got the whole border?”
