She make a short cackling sound and continued forward to the edge of the creek. "This, is my creek!" She made her way down the steep bank, ending up three or four feet below Shadow. "Watch your step, and put your feet on the bigger rock. The flat one came loose and it rocks." she waved her hand in a rocking motion to demonstrate.

"Okay," she said, moving next to him and giving him another hug because she was happy he was there. "So, you wanna hunt crayfish or real fish or frogs or look for rocks?"

She grinned slyly at him. "You ever hunt like a clan cat?" she asked, "Or do I have to teach you?" She held up her hands and curled her fingers to display her claws. "Remember I'm the more cat one."

'One of these days I'll convince her to cut those things' He thought before answering. "Do I look like I hunt like a clan cat?"

She narrowed her eyes at his glasses. “You look like you’d need help to do so. C’mere.” She lead the way over the worn stone of the creekbed to a small pool of water about four tai—feet wide. Spotting a water strider, she almost asked him to catch it, but decided it’d be too hard for him. She looked at Shadow and smiled. It was a smile she knew he’d seen only once or twice before, but he’d heard it in her voice too many times to count.
“So...” she started, drawing out the word
