Loner

Jewel limped around the clearing, pain in every step. although she saw no cat around, she was determined not to show weakness. She was still a kitten. She was aware of the danger she was in, being all alone. But that's how she liked it. She was now unable to catch prey and had been starving for the past two days.

Suddenly, she lifted her head up. A strong smell hit the roof of her mouth. Another cat! She looked around but she couldn't see anyone. Her vision became clouded and her eyes rolled into her head.

She let out a soft meow for something she hoped she would never need: help.

Stream padded out from the bushes. She saw a small kit standing nearby. "hello" she meowed softly. "whats a kit like you doing out here alone?" she asked worried. Kits should never be alone in the forest. It was not safe. There were rouges, and large birds that could pick up cats. She hoped not to startle the skinnyl kit. "im stream. I wont hurt you" she mewed coming closer. "are you okay?"

The she-kit looked hungry. Maybe she could hunt for her? After all, Stream was quite a good hunter. The lone kit reminded her of herself as a kit. Alone.

Jewel opened her eyes, as they cleared she saw the face of another cat staring at her. Their mouth moved, the sounds coming out muffled to Jewel. She tried meowing in response but wasn't sure if she heard. Her stomach growled reminding her of her ever-growing hunger. She attempted to get up, but she was too weak. Pain surged her body as she tried putting pressure on her cut leg. She couldn't hold in her pain anymore. She yowled.

Stream saw that the kit desperately needed help. She picked her up on her back and brought her to her den. "it will all be ok..." she told the kit. She didnt have much herb knowledge, so she just put cobwebs on the cut. Stream felt bad for the kits condition. She went over to her prey pile and picked out a plump mouse for the kit. "eat this" she meowed nudging it towards her. Where had the kits parents been?

Jewel lifted her head smelling the mouse that had been laid before her. Her cut stung as the other cat put an odd sticky substance over it. But she was so grateful for the mouse that she ate in silence, licking ever last morcel off of the bones. She purred gratefully and fell asleep. Feeling full for the first time in her young life.
