Brightwhisker sneezed as the scent of fox entered his nose. he shook his head with a furrowed brow.

"We can't afford to add to the injury count, Otterstone will already be overwhelmed with the number of injured from the raid. Lets hope that fox already left our territory."

Rolling his eyes in a way Brightwhisker couldn't see, he finished up marking the boarder. "Alright, but if Lionstar asks you why we didn't go after it, it's not my fault you get scolded." He began padded away from the boarder, passing Brightwhisker as he spoke.

The tom raised a brow.

"If we straight up attack the fox, do you want to explain to Lionstar the injured apprentice he could have used in another patrol? Lampreypaw doesn't look too enthused about going against the fox with no training either." he hummed as they followed the scent of the red furred predator.

"Just saying, if we don't have to fight it, we shouldn't." now wasn't the time to fight a fox off the territory, if it wasn't on it anymore. If it was, well, they'd just have to make sure the youngest member of their patrol didn't get hurt. He didn't want Riverclan to come away with more injured.

Lampreypaw wasn't sure if they liked being talked about like they weren't there, but didn't say a word. They moved forward a couple pawsteps to examine the fox's scent more closely, and noted it was stale. It didn't mean the canine was gone from their territory, just hadn't been running around right there for awhile. "I just want to get this over with," they admitted finally. They didn't ever talk much but felt compelled to now.

"That's not what I mean't. I thought you wanted to just leave it and not track it. And it would be idiot to attack it with only two warriors and a mostly untrained apprentice." He sighed as he followed the group. It seemed like the fox had crossed into ShadowClan. "Well it's ShadowClan's problem now either way." He paused for a minute, looking out into the pine trees. He didn't know exactly what he was looking for but, he just felt compelled to see if anything was out there.

Lampreypaw's nerves settled quickly when it was made known that the fox had left their territory. They felt a tad bit glad it was that foul Clan's problem now- RiverClan didn't need to shed any more blood but ShadowClan had made their bed and deserved to lie in it. They padded over to a fern on the border and moved to scent mark it, the whole idea of a border patrol. Perhaps this wasn't as scary as they originally thought it was.

"Ah, then sorry for not clarifying." Brightwhisker apologized as he walked up to Owlflight. He made sure Lampreypaw was close by and nodded as the apprentice worked on marking the border before turning back to the other warrior just to see a look cross their face.

"Owlflight?" he asked in concern as he turned to look out in the same direction. " You see something?"

(Do you guys wanna have the fox circle back and attempt an attack?)
"No, just wanted to make sure there were no ShadowClanners or the fox didn't come back." Turning away he took in a deep breath, the scent of fox was still there and it mingled with RiverClan and ShadowClan. Making it feel fainter than it was.

Lampreypaw continued to mark the border, still nervous. They flexed their claws and kept their ears perked, casting a glance back to the two cats they were patrolling with. "Tell me if you hear anything," they rasped on an underused meow.

Brightwhisker nodded, dipping his head down to see if there were anymore traces of the foxes scent that were newer, just in case. Her swiveled an ear towards Lampreypaw then turned to them with a reassuring smile.

"We will, but if the fox does pop in, try to keep far from its muzzle." he assured. "You know, I kind of wish Harepaw was here with us. An extra paw at the thought of a fox attack would be helpful." the tom shook his head, he'd been getting disappointed a lot presently. He did not recommend the feeling.
