Default Re: Nyan's Characters!

“I’ve made terrible mistakes. Too many to count. I was pointlessly cruel, harsh, and violent, fighting for a twisted ideal of a perfect Clan. But now I know what really matters. Friendship. Love. Acceptance. And, of course, loyalty. Every WindClan cat is my Clanmate. Someone I will fight beside, someone I will die for. I will not judge them for the blood that runs through their veins or a permanent injury they bear. StarClan gave me a second chance. I’m going to live it with all the strength and devotion I have.”

BASICS

Current Name: Wolffang

Past Name(s): Wolfkit, Wolfpaw

Future Name(s): N/A

Nickname(s): Wolfie

Reason for Names:

Wolfkit: His mother, Featherwhisker, gave him the prefix Wolf- because of his appearance. His thick gray fur and large, sturdy build made her think of the fearsome canine.

Wolfpaw: Typical apprentice name.

Wolffang: His leader, Twilightstar, gave him the suffix -fang because of his fighting skills and dominant, aggressive nature.

Wolfie: This nickname is used affectionately, primarily by his half-sister, Deadmoon, and best friend/crush, Leopardsong. It’s a shortened, cutesy version of his prefix.

Gender: Tom; AMAB; he/him

Sexual Orientation: Monogamous; hetereosexual heteroromantic; allosexual alloromantic

In other words, he’s only interested in being in a relationship with one cat at a time; he’s only attracted to the opposite gender (she-cats); and he’s able to experience attraction.

Age (in moons): 53 (he didn’t age for the three moons he spent dead)

RESIDENTIAL INFORMATION

Current Affiliation: WindClan

Past Affiliation(s): ThunderClan (temporarily; refugee), StarClan (temporarily; resurrected)

Future Affiliation(s): StarClan

Current Rank: Warrior

Past Rank(s): Kit, Apprentice, Deputy

Future Rank(s): StarClan Resident

Mentor(s): Unknown

Apprentice(s): Stormpaw (Catherine), Sparrowpaw (nocturnal), Morningpaw (poppy), Leechscar (Undertaker), Gorsepaw (vellichor), Cloverheart (Spartan-117)

PHYSICAL TRAITS

Body Type:

Wolffang is a large cat. If he stood next to an average-sized cat, the top of that cat’s head, not including their ears, would reach to just below his chin. He has a sturdy build with a broad head, chest, shoulders, and paws. He’s also heavily muscled; thick cords bulge beneath his pelt. However, his figure is toned, and he’s lean, mainly around the stomach area. His legs would also be lean were it not for his musculature. He has no excess fat. His ear and paws are huge.

Fur Type:

Wolffang has medium-length fur that’s thick and soft. He keeps it smooth. However, he can’t tame the ragged fluff that covers the front of his neck and the entirety of his chest. It hangs down, broad at the top and eventually tapering to a point. He has a thick tuft of fluff inside his ear.

Fur Coloring:

Wolffang has medium-gray fur that’s covered in large darker gray dapples. The dapples are primarily on his flanks, back, and haunches, with smaller, minimal dappling on his legs and tail. He has no dappling on his face or head at all. He also doesn’t have any on his neck and chest fluff or his ear fluff, which are both a light cream-gray color.

Eye Details:

Wolffang has almond-shaped eyes.

Eye Coloring:

His eyes are amber.

Scars/Deformities:

Wolffang’s right ear is missing. Only a tattered stump remains. His left ear is notched in multiple areas. A long, thick, jagged scar stretches across the soft tissue of his underbelly. A set of cat claw marks extends horizontally across the front of his front left leg. He has another, bigger set of cat claw marks on his right flank. His tail-tip is missing. Wolffang is covered all over in large bite mark scars courtesy of wild dogs, though most are hidden by his fur.

Other:

He has long claws that he sharpens regularly. His nose is pinkish-gray.

Image(s): He doesn’t have an official reference sheet yet. Here's an album containing old artwork of him. Please note that these are all outdated and mostly inaccurate.

Voice: Wolffang has a low and deep - but not gravelly - voice that’s often described as strict and authoritative.

Gait: He walks with more grace than many of his size and build, but his step is on the heavier side. He also tends to walk in a stiff manner like a soldier marching in formation. He loosens up when hunting, running, or sneaking up on something; that’s where his practiced grace gets to shine.

Scent: He carries the territorial odor of WindClan - grass, peat, heather, and rabbits. The scents of grass and peat are particularly strong. His scent tends to be described as earthy.

Diseases/Conditions: N/A

The following will be ranked out of 10.

1/10 - The lowest score. It means that Wolffang is absolutely terrible at it to the point where he has either no knowledge or, at the most, the bare minimum.

5/10 - This is the “middle score.” It means that he isn’t good at it, but he isn’t bad at it, either. He’s somewhere in the middle; mediocre.

10/10 - The highest score. It means that he’s mastered it entirely and is practically perfect.

Coordination: 8/10. Seasons of hunting, battle training, and general experience have helped Wolffang improve his coordination. He’s great at moving the different parts of his body in tandem, doing what he wishes with them to achieve his goal.

Reflexes: 7/10. Seasons of experience have honed his ability to dodge and react quickly. However, his build can make him slower than he’d like, despite his WindClan training and lack of excess fat.

Strength: 8/10. He isn’t a powerhouse, but he’s certainly stronger than many other WindClan cats with his size, sturdy build, and muscle mass. He’s had a lot of battle training and usually relies on brute strength in a fight. He also has Tier 1 of Beefed Up.

PERSONALITY

Detailed Description:

To his dying breath, Wolffang will be loyal. His Clan and those he loves mean everything to him. He wants to do whatever he can for them, determined not to let them down. The thought of betrayal fills him with a rage so profound it’s hard for him to think straight. As a cat who will die - and has died - for others, it’s easy to see how disloyalty would rub his fur the wrong way. He’s very stubborn, stuck in his ideas of loyalty and how a Clan should be - cooperative, hard-working, sensible, honorable, following the warrior code - which can make him extremely defensive and disagreeable when it comes to those topics. He clings to tradition like yellow flowers to a gorse bush. Wolffang won’t listen to anything against his Clan or what he believes to be right. He’ll stand up for what he believes in and hold his ground in the most heated of discussions. And don’t you dare insult anyone he loves unless you want claws in your face. The same goes for continually provoking him about his Clan ideals, though he’ll have more self-control then.

Although he’s not as violent as he was in his younger moons, Wolffang is fierce. Not only when he’s defending his values, his Clan, or his loved ones, where he spits facts and fire alike. He fights fiercely, not afraid to show his claws or make threats when he deems it necessary. He doesn’t back down from a fight he believes should be fought, whether it be in the name of justice, defense, strength, or under the orders of a High Rank. However, he has a strong moral code. Wolffang is a warrior of honor. He fights when he believes it’s necessary, not going out of his way to start conflict unless provoked, and he won’t kill or maim unless he absolutely must. He stands up for what he believes in and defends the core values of a Clan: Not a completely peaceful lifestyle, but not one that causes needless deaths. And certainly not a life of torture and barbarism.

Wolffang has a will of steel. He will persist, no matter how tough the circumstances, and he won’t ever be manipulated to act against his core values. Some ideas or perspectives he’s willing to change, but certainly not what he holds dear. There are times when he feels weak, when he wants to cave under the pressure, but he will always fight against it. He’s determined not to give up, and if he has a goal, he’ll fight to reach it. The burning fire within keeps him going - but he’s also learned that it’s okay to ask for help and rely on those he loves. It’s required, actually. There’s no point in a Clan if he tries to stand alone. However, that’s not to say he’s a coward or a weakling. He’s strong and brave, not cowering away from fear or danger and willing to face challenges head-on. He will stand strong for his Clan and confront any threat that heads their way. But he isn’t reckless. That part of him was beaten out a long time ago.

He is also a very strict cat, following orders and making sure they are followed. He gets highly upset when the rules aren’t observed. This tendency makes it easier for him to hold back when he’s desperate to get into a fight with someone who provokes him or someone he hates. No matter what, he won’t disobey orders - unless they’re so sadistic and/or against the warrior code that they’re impossible to follow through with. Still, he struggles with disobeying authority. He’s so hard-wired to follow orders that going against them feels wrong, like he’s directly ignoring the warrior code. So, in short, he will go along with things he disagrees with, even if they contradict his core values - but he’ll stand up if they’re too bad.

He himself can be authoritative. From his moons as deputy, he knows how to take charge, give orders, and direct others. However, he also knows and respects his position as a warrior. He’ll listen to others and stand down when he’s not the one in control, but he’ll always be willing to offer advice, input, suggestions, or additional help. After all, he’ll do whatever he can for his Clan to prosper and be successful, and if he has an opinion, he wants his voice to be heard.

Wolffang has a serious nature that makes it difficult for him to loosen up. Many think of him as a stiff cat. He struggles with humor and jokes, and he doesn’t find things like pranks funny at all. He gets rather annoyed by the time and resources enjoyment can waste. He looks at things from a practical angle, not fully understanding why cats do things like “play.” It’s also hard for him to understand more abstract ideas and concepts. He likes things based in reality. However, he’s trying to learn and understand these sorts of things better.

Wolffang is very self-aware. He has a deep, profound understanding of himself and his actions. He knows that he’s done bad things, and he knows that he’s a good cat now. However, he has moments of intense guilt and insecurity, where thoughts of what he did get so intense that it’s hard for him to forgive himself. These do go away, though, and they’re starting to become fewer and farther between as he grows more accepting of himself.

He knows how to take accountability for his actions and other mistakes he’s made. He’s a responsible cat who takes his duties and morality very seriously. He doesn’t try to sweep his past aside or hide what he’s done. Instead, he owns up to it. Although there are times when he wishes he could erase the past and not be judged for who he used to be, he knows wholeheartedly that he can’t, and he accepts this, even when it’s hard. He has a humble view of himself; though he’s proud of what he’s accomplished and confident in his own skills, abilities, and development, he knows he isn’t perfect, that he can be wrong, and that he can always improve. Yet he can be prideful - over a good kill, winning a battle, receiving praise, or being happy with a Clan-wide accomplishment. However, he’s rather regretful, able to keep his guilt and grief from swamping him, but still thinking about his mistakes and feeling terrible for the cats he hurt. There are times when those feelings come close to crushing him. But, once again, he’s able to get over these moments of pain and accept that he’s changed.

Wolffang is hopeful for the future. He knows that, even in the darkest of times, things do get better. There’s always room to grow, always time for things to improve. There is usually something that a cat can do, and if there isn’t, the tough times will pass. Getting lost in pain and despair helps no one. However, he’s not falsely optimistic. He knows that life is filled with pain and rough times. But he’ll never forget that it has light and love and, above all, something to fight for.

Wolffang is an honest warrior who sees no room for lies or deceit. He tells it as it is. Unfortunately, this makes him rather blunt and not always pleasant to talk to. He’s working on this. He’s still not the most tactful when it comes to the art of speaking. He is smart, though, and thoughtful. He knows a lot about the world and his environment and how they all work together. This lends him the ability to think through what he hears carefully to understand it for himself and suggest a better course of action if he can. He’s a good planner, and he doesn’t want him or his Clan to be affected by something stupid. And he doesn’t suffer fools.

His ability to listen makes him understanding. He’s able to comprehend the thoughts and motives of others, and he doesn’t easily brush them aside. The only exception to this is when it comes to cats who betray the Clan, intentionally harm a Clanmate, or outright reject Clan values. Wolffang has little sympathy for them and can’t grasp how or why someone would think that way. He also holds grudges. If someone does something awful or goes against his moral code, he will not forget or forgive easily. However, it depends on the severity of the crime. He will give second chances on smaller offenses or if he truly believes a cat has changed.

Wolffang’s stubbornness regarding the warrior code doesn’t mean that he can’t be open-minded. He’s willing to listen to multiple perspectives and ideas. Above all, he knows that he doesn’t know everything. There is always more to learn, always more to improve upon. Wolffang is no stranger to change, and if he must, he’ll embrace it with open arms to better himself as a warrior - and a cat.

Traits: Loyal, stubborn, defensive, fierce, honorable, strong-willed, determined, dependent, brave, strict, authoritative, respectful, helpful, serious, practical, self-aware, responsible, humble, prideful, confident, regretful, hopeful, honest, blunt, smart, thoughtful, understanding, grudging, open-minded

Character Development:

Wolffang is very different from the cat he once was. As a young warrior, he was arrogant, always feeling and acting self-important and sure of himself. He had an exaggerated sense of his significance and skills, and he believed his opinions to be the best out of everyone’s. Haughty, conceited, and proud, he thought of himself as smarter and more practical than others who had “inferior” beliefs; he firmly believed that those who didn’t have pure WindClan blood and those with disabilities didn’t deserve to be treated the same as pure-blooded, able-bodied WindClan cats. Wolffang’s approach to life was very Darwinistic: he believed that only the fittest and the “purest” would survive. He was more lenient toward elders with disabilities, as they weren’t “weakening” the Clan by being put in a warrior role, but to him, they were still a waste of resources and not the right cats to teach the young. This judgmental and discriminatory mindset led him to think and do many cruel things.

However, despite his pride and superiority complex, he had a profound understanding of his public image and knew that his standards went against the status quo. So, he put on an obedient facade, pretending to go with the flow and agree with the public. Wolffang had a certain amount of charm. He pretended to be honest while actually being quite two-faced. He cared a lot about appearances and wanted to be respected, as he believed he deserved to be. After all, with his ambition, he needed his Clanmates to love him if he was to get any support as WindClan’s future leader.

Wolffang was also a lot more violent and abusive, seeking out glory through battle. He believed it was a means of control and the only true way to be respected and feared by other cats. Refusing to show your claws was a sign of weakness. WindClan couldn’t be seen as lower-ranking to the others. And the feeling of ripping through fur and flesh, the smell and taste of blood, the cries of his enemies as they fled... It was his own special song. He got the same satisfaction and feelings of accomplishment by tormenting those he believed to be “impure.” As he wasn’t a leader who could exile impure-blooded or disabled cats, he saw it fit to act at most indifferent or slightly rude in public and outright abusive in private. That was his own protest against an “impure” Clan: Making those he hated suffer. He believed they should suffer, too, be put on display and tormented so everyone could see what vile creatures they really were. But he couldn’t risk anything major. Wolffang did not want the disgrace of scorn or, worse, exile.

However, his loyalty to WindClan and respect for High Ranks were always present, along with his desire to be the best warrior possible. Even if a High Rank made decisions he didn’t agree with or was disabled or not of pure WindClan blood, he held a sort of respect for them, even though he thought they shouldn’t hold the role. He also stuck strictly to the warrior code, not disobeying it unless he believed someone to be outside of the rules. Those values were always there. He just didn’t execute them in a good way - and, with his cruel ideals, he falsely believed that he was acting in the Clan’s best interests and leading them toward a “golden era.”

His major personality shift occurred when he became WindClan’s deputy. His ableist and xenophobic natures were challenged, and initially, he scrambled for a way to conceal them to keep his reputation up. Then he began to wonder if there was any way for him to be accepted in his Clan if his views didn’t align with the majority. This led to Wolffang beginning to wonder if the cats he’d hated were really so bad, which sent him into a mental turmoil as he tried to dissect his shifting opinions amid outside pressure.

All of that haughtiness and self-assuredness vanished to be replaced by intense insecurity. Wolffang was horribly stressed out, feeling crushed by the pressure. It felt like everyone was watching him, judging him, waiting for him to make a wrong move. This led to a lot of mental instability. He’d have outbursts, sometimes yelling at others or breaking down and crying. It was difficult for him to do his job as deputy. However, he was genuinely starting to see that his past views were wrong, that he shouldn’t have judged others for things out of their control or abused them the way he had. It was increasingly difficult to cope with. Wolffang was very hung up on the fact that there were still cats who existed who didn’t understand how he’d changed, which made him feel like all of his personal growth was for nothing.

Added stress came from ShadowClan’s tyranny. The horrible things they did instilled a sense of rage and a desire for vengeance within Wolffang that burned bright. Despite his mental turmoil, he cared deeply for his Clan and did whatever he could to fight back against ShadowClan, help his Clan out, and make sure patrols came in on time - or, at least, find ways to motivate his Clanmates not to miss a patrol. He was active, leading the Clan in events and never missing a patrol assignment - or punishment. Yet he was harshly strict, fed up with WindClan’s lack of activity and inability to pull their weight. This led to intense punishments and talking-downs.

Wolffang matured as time went on. He learned more about how to be a cat, not lost in self-loathing and insecurity or hatred toward others. He learned to accept his wrongdoings and find the inner strength to both change and understand that he didn’t have to be accepted or liked by everybody. They could judge him for what he’d done, as he’d been terrible once; however, he could show them that he was different now. He made sure to apologize to those he’d wronged and learned that it was their choice of whether to forgive him. He loosened up a little, too, beginning to understand that it was okay to relax sometimes. Unfortunately, this meant he slacked off, taking time to figure himself out, then felt subsequently guilty for not getting the job done.

Wolffang vowed to focus on what mattered: loyalty, camaraderie, spending time with those he loved, and always being there for his Clan.

Mental Age: He acts his age, if not a little older.

Psychiatric Complications: He used to have severe anxiety, but that has abated. He sometimes has depressive episodes, but these are becoming few and far between.

Phobias: Thalassophobia (fear of deep bodies of water), claustrophobia (fear of tight spaces), cleithrophobia (fear of being trapped), pyrophobia (fear of fire), cynophobia (fear of dogs)

The following will be ranked out of 10.

Sociability: 7/10. Wolffang knows how to interact with others, and he’s good at it. However, he isn’t always the easiest to talk to, as he can be blunt or strict. It’s also hard for him to understand jokes.

Outlook (1 being very negative, 10 being very positive): 8/10. Wolffang is very hopeful about life, and he believes in second chances for those who are willing to better themselves. He wants to live his life to the fullest. However, he knows better than most that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, and there are bound to be tough times and cruelty. He also knows that some cats can’t be redeemed and that not everyone should get a second chance.

Responsibility: 9/10. Wolffang is incredibly responsible. However, he isn’t perfect.

Cleanliness: 7/10. He keeps himself presentable and doesn’t want to appear to anyone as a mess, but he isn’t obsessed with his appearance.

Generosity: 5/10. This is a slippery slope for Wolffang. There are times when he’s willing to let things slide and offer second chances. And he’s definitely willing to share fresh-kill or other resources with a Clanmate. However, if a cat commits an egregious offense, they are as good as dead to him, and he’s very hesitant to share precious prey and herbs with those not of WindClan. He tends to be more generous to those he’s close to, though.

Manners: 6/10. They’re fairly good. Wolffang knows how to conduct himself. However, there are many times where he doesn’t mince his words, and he can act pretty harsh when provoked.

Bravery: 10/10. Wolffang isn’t a reckless fool, but he’s willing to face whatever he must for his Clan. Even if it means facing his worst fears...

More Logical or More Emotional: Logical, though Wolffang understands and listens to his emotional side as well.

Favorite Season(s): Greenleaf. He loves the warm weather, the sun beating down upon his pelt, the fresh growth of plants and life-saving herbs, the beautiful, unending blue sky, and the plentiful prey available for his Clan.

Favorite Food(s): Rabbits and hares

Favorite Word(s): Loyalty, devotion, improvement, strength, sky

Favorite Sound(s): The sound of a cat running through the grass, the crunch of a rabbit’s/hare’s neck as it’s killed, victory yowls

Greatest Hope: To be the best warrior he can be, serving WindClan until the end of his days and continually becoming a better cat.

Greatest Strength(s): His battle prowess and sense of honor.

Greatest Weakness(es): His fear of water and enclosed spaces and his overly practical nature.

Worst Nightmare: Forever being known for who he once was and being rejected by those he loves, especially Leopardsong.

Deepest Darkest Secret: Many still don’t know that he attacked Barleykit and abandoned him by the ThunderClan border. Wolffang hasn’t had the guts to tell Twilightstar, and by now, he isn’t sure what the point would be. It happened long ago, and besides, he knows Barleybite isn’t dead because of him...

Most Treasured Memory(ies): Spending time with Snowypaw and Fernpaw before their disappearances, spending time with Leopardsong, and StarClan sending him back to life.

Quirk(s):
- He tends to be stiff/tense almost all the time, even when he isn’t stressed. It’s just hard for him to loosen up.
- When he stiffens up due to some provokation, whether it be due to fear, anger, or tension, his already-prominent muscles bulge until he’s absolutely swole.
- His resting face is either neutral or serious.
- Despite how tense/intimidating he looks, he’s super sweet and genuine-looking when he smiles! Because of this, it’s quite easy to tell when he’s faking happiness, not that he usually does.
- Wolffang tries to hide it, but he’s constantly trying to smooth out his chest fluff. It doesn’t work. Ever. It’s more of an impulse than anything since he knows that whatever he does, it won’t be tamed.
- His eyes look very intense when he’s angry.
- When he’s even a little agitated, his claws slide out.
- When he yells, his voice gets lower, not higher.

Theme Song(s):

NOTE: Some songs aren’t linked because of language. Also, I tried to order them by the points of his life they represented him in, but some overlap.

- The Mob Song from the movie "Beauty and the Beast"

Why I Chose It: This song represents young Wolffang, mostly before he became deputy. Although he didn’t have a mob to back him up, he had his family - Featherwhisker and Rosebriar - to support his hatred of and discrimination against disabled cats and cats who didn’t have pure WindClan blood. They believed that these cats “infected” the Clan (“He’ll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free” / “We don’t like what we don’t understand”). His wrath mainly extended toward Ashfeather (“the Beast”). Wolffang and his family were determined to eventually get the rest of WindClan to agree with their views, but, for the time being, they had to have the courage to go against the status quo. However, they believed StarClan was on their side (“Praise the Lord”) because they would protect WindClan and make them stronger by “purifying” them (“We’ll save our village and our lives”).

Not many knew of this feud other than Ashfeather’s close friends, who would do anything to protect her. However, Ashfeather was resigned to Wolffang’s treatment and didn’t care enough about herself to stand up against him and his family. Deadmoon and Morningpaw were also forced to endure it.

This song also represents how Wolffang viewed ShadowClan when he was young and foolish, before his deputy moons. Although he hated them, he didn’t treat it as seriously as he should’ve, and he considered hunting down their warriors and hurting them “a nightmare but [...] one exciting ride.”

- I'll Make a Man Out of You from the movie "Mulan"

Why I Chose It: This song will always represent Wolffang, even though he’s changed a lot. He isn’t as mean as he used to be, but he’s a strict teacher, determined to turn even the most difficult of cats into warriors. There are times when he feels like he’s been dealt the worst possible hand, when it feels impossible to shape others up, and he’s learned to know when to stop wasting his energy on something that won’t work (“How could I make a man out of you?”). However, he won’t give up easily or without good reason. He wants WindClan to fit their namesake: “swift as the coursing river” and “with all the force of a great typhoon.” In other words, fast and strong. They need to be able to hold their own, survive, and, of course, have a “strong center” - not just physical strength, but mental strength as well. They need to represent what a Clan should be and set a good example. He also wants them to be “mysterious as the dark side of the moon.” The other Clans aren’t allowed to know their secrets, but WindClan can set a good example for them and prove just how much better they are.

- Non-Stop from the musical "Hamilton"

Why I Chose It: This song mainly represents Wolffang during his early years. Similar to Hamilton, he was a self-righteous cat who viewed himself highly, not listening to criticism and believing himself to have perfected “the law” - that is, the warrior code. He also did a lot to uphold his own values, which he believed to be superior to everyone else’s. (“Why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room?”) The “Why do you write like you’re running out of time?” represents how relentlessly he worked (he’s eased up a little now, but he’s still a hard worker). “Every day, you fight like you’re running out of time” correlates to how aggressive he was, too, picking unnecessary fights just to prove his and WindClan’s strength. He was constantly going, always trying to claw his way to the top. Ambition and a sick sense of justice fueled him. Although, unlike Hamilton, he rarely preached his values for fear of being ostracized. He was similar to Burr in that he kept everything “close to his chest.”

“Corruption’s such an old song that we can sing along in harmony” / “And nowhere is it stronger than in Albany” / “This colony’s economy is increasingly stalling” / “Honestly, that’s why public service seems to be calling me.” Wolffang thought WindClan was stalling because they weren’t following his values, so he needed to step up and “fix” them.

Then Wolffang became deputy, and everything changed. His attitude was nearly “his doom.” He didn’t get the glory he dreamed of. The “fighting” aspect became a mental battle against his own emotions, along with all the turmoil ShadowClan was causing and the constant battle to get patrols under control. Not to mention all the other hard work that being a deputy entailed. However, he had to “keep on writing/fighting” to become better.

Eventually, he learned to admit that he was wrong (“Sir, you’re a better lawyer than me”). Yet, despite his newfound humbleness and insecurity, there were many things he stood for and would fight for. He could be abrasive when it came to matters he firmly believed in. He also judged those who didn’t stand up for themselves or speak out (like how Hamilton judged Burr). Angelica’s and Eliza’s parts would be great for Leopardsong back at that time; she was worried about Wolffang and viewed him as “not a lot of fun,” but “no one could match him, for turn of phrase.” Meanwhile, Wolffang was constantly looking to prove himself to his Clanmates, to show them that he’d changed while upholding his status as WindClan’s deputy and neglecting what mattered: Leopardsong and his own mental health. He truly was non-stop.

However, the song shows some good in him. As Wolffang became a better cat, he became even more determined to make WindClan good - truly good, not his previous twisted ideal of good - and make it, and himself, better. His sense of justice wasn’t corrupt anymore. Speaking of corruption, “Corruption’s such an old song that we can sing along in harmony” / “And nowhere is it stronger than in Albany” / “This colony’s economy is increasingly stalling” / “Honestly, that’s why public service seems to be calling me” comes back again, but this time, it represents the corruption of those who spit on the warrior code and try to harm WindClan. Public service is calling to Wolffang - as a true warrior, not a corrupt one.

- i’m not a good person by Pat The Bunny

Why I Chose It: This song heavily conveys what Wolffang was going through when he faced bouts of depression and anxiety that were caused by constant self-questioning and insecurity during his deputy moons. He viewed himself as lazy, a waste of space, a bad cat for what he’d done and what he was failing to do. He thought that it was obvious to everyone why he was bad, believed everyone hated him, and felt like he deserved their hate. He thought that even his loved ones despised him; even to those he was kind to, he thought it was obvious that he was terrible. However, at the same time, he didn’t want to be viewed negatively. It was a rough and confusing time.

The line “A failure at everything I say I believe” especially resonates with him: Wolffang criticized those who were lazy and not doing enough for WindClan, yet his mental state made it difficult for him to pull his weight and get things done at times. Even when he pushed through the pain, he felt guilty: “I try to keep up with everything I know I should do, but then I’ll fall to pieces anyway.” He also viewed himself as a “coward” for being afraid of judgment and worrying so much about his Clanmates’ opinions of him.

Thankfully, he’s gotten over this phase, and this song doesn’t represent him anymore. However, he occasionally has rough moments where - although the song doesn’t fully apply - he feels like a bad cat.

- The Apology Song from the movie "The Book of Life"

Why I Chose It: This song represents Wolffang at the beginning of his redemption - not just when he began to question his views, but when he truly began to realize how wrong they were. He’d been “bred to fight” by Featherwhisker - to fight against cats who didn’t deserve the pain they received. He was filled with guilt and an urge to apologize. Wolffang felt that his apologies were “long overdue” and believed that, if he laid bare “his amends” and was forgiven, they could all “truly live.” However, unlike in the song, Wolffang had to also learn that being forgiven isn’t the be-all-or-end-all. It was the choice of others to forgive him for his actions. It was frightening, knowing that he’d gone through so much and might not be forgiven. But knowing this didn’t stop his quest for redemption. He still needed to apologize and admit his wrongs. He was humbled by realizing he wasn’t perfect and the past couldn’t be erased. Especially now, he’s determined to do his best to end the injustice he knows disabled cats and those without pure WindClan blood face. “The senseless killing” must end.

- Surface Pressure from the movie “Encanto”

Why I Chose It: Mainly during his deputy moons, Wolffang was constantly under pressure. He felt like he had a ton of obligations and had to keep a brave face for his Clanmates while inside, he struggled. He felt like he was expected to be overconfident and haughty as he had been in the past when really, he was very insecure and nothing like he once was (“I’m the strong one, I’m not nervous” / “I’m as tough as the crust of the Earth is” / “And I glow ‘cause I know what my worth is”). Although there’s something to be said about “the Earth’s crust”: It’s viewed as strong, but it’s the thinnest layer and the easiest one to break.

There were times where he showed his emotional turmoil openly, mainly when he was trying to work through it and when the pressure got so intense it felt like he would “pop.” However, he constantly beat himself up over not doing good enough: “I’m pretty sure I’m worthless if I can’t be of service.” Wolffang also put much more pressure on himself than he did on others, and that’s saying something, considering his judgmental nature. “Give her all the heavy things we can’t shoulder” / “Who am I if I can’t run with the ball?”

Although on a lesser scale, the mention of “family burdens” also applies, as he was going against his mother and sister’s values and trying to be his own cat with his sister, who was still in the Clan, breathing down his neck. Once that family obligation and intense mental turmoil/confusion passed - in his later moons as deputy and early moons after he stepped down - he felt like he should be well enough to have better control of himself. He had to be the strong warrior, embracing that he wasn’t perfect and knowing that he’d done the best he could. However, he still had inner pressure and worries and fears that he wasn’t doing good enough, that he would always be a bad cat, that he’d be judged, that he should be doing better because he’d “gotten over it” when he still felt a lot of guilt and pressure. This lurked “under the surface.”

Wolffang dreamed of a time when he’d be able to relax without any outer expectations. That seemed impossible. However, his mental state has gotten much, much better lately, and he deals with a lot less pressure now. He’s able to free himself up and relax - sometimes, anyway. He’s very strict and hard-working, but he understands the importance of self-care, and he’s able to do his duties better now that he’s less guilty and stressed and also has less of a spotlight, along with less obligations.

- Undedeemable from the movie "Spirited"

Why I Chose It: If I had to pick one song from this list that represented Wolffang the most, it would be this one. For a time, Wolffang wondered if it was impossible to redeem himself. He’d done so many terrible things, hurt so many cats, cemented his reputation as an ableist, xenophobic, haughty, insufferable cat. Would it be possible to prove to his Clanmates that he’d changed? Could he change since he’d acted this way all his life?

His mental turmoil also played into this. Wolffang wondered if he’d ever be able to claw his way out of it, make a name for himself - a good name - and figure out the world. There were so many “wrongs [he’s] running from,” bad things he’d tried to face but couldn’t fully embrace because he felt like everyone else was judging him. Was his legacy to go down in history as a failure? A cruel cat who became mentally disturbed, unstable, and unable to help his Clan?

However, he found the strength to realize that he didn’t have to remain this way. He could redeem himself by becoming a better cat, being open to change, listening to others, and understanding what truly mattered: loyalty, love, and friendship. Just because he had a bad legacy didn’t mean he had to continue it. Wolffang didn’t just learn to apologize and feel guilty; he learned to accept the guilt, live with it, and push forward. He also learned to let go of others’ judgment. He’d show them that he’d changed, but it was the choice of others on whether to see that and/or forgive him.

He’s done terrible things. He knows and accepts that; he has to. However, although they’ll always be a part of him, they don’t have to control his life. Wolffang can forge a new legacy.

- Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON

Why I Chose It: This song represents Wolffang’s love for Leopardsong. He was always “a stick in the mud,” as described by her: stubborn, unadventurous, and difficult to loosen up. However, Leopardsong dragged Wolffang into a world he never knew existed: a world of fun where he could relax and learn of this mysterious concept called “playing.” To Wolffang, it felt like Leopardsong told him to “Shut up and dance with me.” And he’s forever grateful. He loves Leopardsong with all his heart and knows that she saved him in more ways than one. If not for her, he’d most likely be stuck in a bad mental spot, forever grouchy, overly harsh, and self-hating.

- Stronger Than You from the show “Steven Universe”

Why I Chose It: This song represents the empowerment Wolffang gained when he developed and learned to accept himself. I can imagine him singing it to a crowd consisting of Featherwhisker, Rosebriar, and his old self, but some parts would be applicable to any of his or WindClan’s enemies. He’s become a better cat, and now he’s “stronger than you.” They can try to tear him down, but his “relationship [with himself] is stable” now. It’ll take a lot to bring him down. And, even if he is brought down, he’ll learn from the experience and come back stronger - and always be better than them because he knows what truly matters. He is “made of love” - for his Clanmates, for Leopardsong, for himself. He won’t let anyone hurt those he loves, either, and he’ll do anything for his Clanmates.

The line “I know you think I’m not something you’re afraid of ‘cause you think that you’ve seen what I’m made of” especially hits home. Featherwhisker and Rosebriar thought they saw what he was made of - others, too. Arrogance. Needless ferocity. Discrimination. Then a mentally unstable and broken cat. However, Wolffang isn’t like that anymore. He will forever prove that he’s better, that he’s changed, that he’s stronger than he ever was. If they don’t accept it, that’s okay. He does. And that’s what makes him strong. He’s confident now, but not arrogant or foolish.

Although he’s always showing that he’s better, he won’t explicitly try to prove to the average cat that he’s “stronger than them,” though. That part only applies to personal enemies and general enemies of WindClan.

This song can also apply to his general viewpoint of WindClan. They’ve been through a lot, and the other Clans - especially ShadowClan - view them as “broken.” However, they’re more powerful than before because they’ve faced such hardships and survived instead of letting them break WindClan apart.

- SUPERHERO by CG5

Why I Chose It: Wolffang is guided by a powerful inner moral compass, and that is to protect WindClan and the ones he loves. He protects “the innocent” and “[takes] down the guilty party,” fighting for what he believes in without being blinded by cruelty. He believes that those who “put good people in danger” deserve what’s coming to them, which is either a good beating, an eternity in the Dark Forest, or both. Even though he feels more empowered, he “holds in his pride” - he doesn’t brag or boast, and he also must accept that he’s not WindClan’s deputy anymore. He’s a warrior now, important but not in a position of power.

His experiences have shaped him and made him feel more sympathy for other cats. A good example provided by the song is how he wonders how others become so estranged and the example they must set for other cats. It’s painful to think about, but alas, crime will always flourish. Wolffang views caring for WindClan as his responsibility, but it’s not a burden - “I’m always watching over my city.” After all, he knows who - and what - he fights for. And there are plenty of “villains with no class” clawing at WindClan’s borders. Like ShadowClan.

There are certain aspects of the song that especially don’t fit, however. For example, Wolffang isn’t alone - he’s got his Clanmates beside him - and he doesn’t believe that “nobody deserves to get hurt.” He definitely believes that there are those who deserve to get hurt or even die. He also hasn’t “always been nothing but a zero.” Still, the main theme of this song resonates with him: With his new life, values, and faith, he’s “got everything worth fighting for.”

“Feel how fast the breeze blows” also makes me think of WindClan.

- I'm Still Standing by Elton John

Why I Chose It: This song perfectly represents Wolffang currently. Despite everything he’s been through, he’s standing on all four paws, ready to do his duties. He knows what it’s like to be afraid, to doubt himself (“Your blood, like winter, freezes just like ice” / “And there’s a cold, lonely light that shines from you”). However, determination and love brought him out of his pain, and now he’s ready to live his life to the fullest (“Well, look at me, I’m a-comin’ back again” / “I got a taste of love in a simple way”). He’s letting thoughts of his family fade away and focusing on the present, learning from his past but not letting it haunt him. No matter what he faces - relapses into guilt or self-loathing, difficult times for WindClan, lack of motivation - he’ll pull through it and still stand tall.

RELATIONS

POSITIVE

Leopardsong (Moonraven): “My love. Every time I think of her, my paws fizz, and I feel lighter than air. She means so much to me, and I’ve told her that many times. She’s saved me in so many ways. Even when I was mean to her, even when I behaved despicably, she stood by my side and guided me toward the light. She had every right to leave, but she didn’t, and I’m forever grateful. I’ve banished my guilt over the past, stopped questioning whether she should’ve left me. It is what it is, everything worked out, and I wouldn’t wish for anything to be different. I wouldn’t be here without her. And finally, finally, I may have enough courage to confess my feelings. I want her to be more than my closest friend. I want her to be my mate. She’s kind, empathetic, and sensible, far from a fool, with insight that would benefit a mighty leader. Not a fighter, but I don’t mind. She’s great at caring for the kits. She’s the best hunter I know. And her devotion can’t be doubted. She’s helped me understand humor, fun, lightheartedness, while knowing when to be serious. I want to start a family with her, spend the rest of my days with her, become an elder with her by my side... Oh, how I love her. I’m scared of her rejecting me. But, even if she isn’t my mate, she’ll always be my closest friend, and I’ll respect whatever choice she makes.”

Fernpaw (staurn): “Such a sweet, brave, kindhearted apprentice with so much potential. I remember when he gave me that egg. That changed my life forever. He was such a bright light who deserved so, so much more than he got. All those deaths and resurrections... What must they have done to his mentality? And, when I died, he spoke to me like a warrior. I wish I’d been there for him before he left. I miss him so much. I hope he’s okay, wherever he is.”

Skyleaf (starry): “My best friend. We met not long after I became WindClan’s deputy. I was... far from perfect, but she gave me valuable advice and had some great views on WindClan and the warrior code. She was a worthy warrior. I remember how horrified I was when I saw what ShadowClan had done to her, and, when I found out she’d been revived, I was so happy. StarClan sent her back as they’d sent me back. She deserved it. Now she’s gone again, and I wish I had her by my side.”

Twilightstar (Moonraven): “She’s been the leader for most of my life, and WindClan couldn’t ask for someone better. I will admit, when I was a young fool, I thought she was too soft, too willing to let in Outsiders and search for peace. But now I know how far from the truth that is. Her loyalty is as undying as the wind, and her mental strength is something to be admired. She’s led us for so long, but she hasn’t bowed under the pressure or the weight of her responsibilities, despite all the awful things she’s been through. She stood tall while I caved under lesser pressures. She’s wise and calm but willing to show her claws. I’m not sure how many lives she has left, but I know she’s used up many. It pains me to think of her reign ending. When she dies, every WindClan cat will mourn her loss. She’ll go down in history. Thank you, Twilightstar, for giving me a chance as your deputy and for leading your Clan so well. Don’t go too soon.”

Fallownose (Lillith): “As much as I dread Twilightstar’s death, I know she has a worthy cat to take her place. Fallownose is an excellent deputy. I remember when he first got the role, uncertain and nervous, but he’s blossomed into an assertive and confident cat. I will admit, I was a little jealous of how quickly he got the patrols under control, but I shouldn’t envy his competence. He’s a little more violent than he used to be... but I know his intentions are good and that he’ll always act in WindClan’s best interests. He’s fiercely loyal, and I respect that.”

Bravebird (tally): “I’ve always respected her. She’s a wonderful warrior, just as brave as her name suggests and twice as loyal. Her devotion to WindClan and the warrior code are admirable, and she was a wonderful mentor to Fernpaw. I was horrified when she died, happy when she returned, and sad all over again when I found out that she’d lost her memory. Poor Bravebird. The idea that she won’t remember me hurts so much... And she doesn’t like me now, not since I defended Cowtuft before I knew the full extent of his crimes. I’ve been avoiding her for too long. I need to speak with her again and make things right. More than anything, I want to be her friend again. Despite her memory loss, she’s blossomed into just as brave and loyal a warrior as she was before her death.”

Toadpounce (Pitou): “He was a good warrior. I remember him fondly from the battle training event I hosted. He was always willing to learn, always willing to cooperate. He was a good mentor to Dreamlight, too. I wish I knew what happened to him.”

Lilyantler (Abyssopelagic): “I feel so ashamed of how I ignored him when I was younger. He was my last connection to Dimtail. Thankfully, I got my senses together and talked to him. He’s a wonderful cat, hard-working and devoted but in need of a lesson on how to relax. Something I need, too. Maybe he should meet Leopardsong. I was hoping we’d get to bond more, but... he disappeared. I really hope he comes back.”

Moorpaw (Abyssopelagic): “I remember her from my time as a kit. She seemed so old, so strong. Then she died and came back. It was weird, seeing her as an apprentice when I was a warrior, but it was so great to have my kin back. I meant to speak with her, but... she vanished. I wish she hadn’t.”

Snowypaw (spade): “My dear half-sibling, undertrained and full of so much love and energy. The only one untainted by Featherwhisker’s lies. They would’ve made a fine warrior. I loved spending time with them, walking with them, being by their side. Snowypaw always made me feel happy. I hope they’re safe, wherever they are. Please come home...”

Deadmoon (gs29513): “I’m still riddled with guilt whenever I think of how cruel I was to her when we were younger. I convinced her that she was inferior, and for what? A twisted paw? I apologized, and she was so happy, but the path ahead has been rough. She went missing a couple times, and it’s clear she’s still a little awkward around me. What I did - what the rest of my family did - had lasting effects. I pray she’ll be able to overcome everything we did to her. I want her to be my sister. And I want to be her brother.”

Morningpaw (poppy): “Another one of my half-sisters who I abused because of the way she looked. She was assigned to me, and I mistreated her, abusing her physically and verbally. I was furious when she joined Ashfeather’s failed coup against Dawnstar. And when she came back and I apologized... it initially broke me that she wouldn’t forgive me. But she taught me an important lesson. I don’t have to be forgiven for what I’ve done. It’s me being willing to improve that matters. Morningpaw suggested moving forward, and I was all for it. Then she went missing. I really wish she’d stuck around. I miss her.”

Crowtooth (Rani): “I wasn’t always the nicest to him, judging him because he was disabled and a tunneler, but now, I have a lot of respect for him. He has a lot of experience, and he’s great at what he does. WindClan needs a tunneler. I realize that now. I wouldn’t go down there, but I admire him for doing so. His loyalty and protectiveness of his Clanmates also can’t be doubted. I’m glad he’s a part of our Clan. We need more cats like him.”

Snowybreeze (Alchemist Kitsune): “He was Deadmoon’s apprentice. I hold a lot of respect for him. He’s so loyal, so sweet, so protective. There’s a lot to admire. He has a lot of potential. It’s such a shame he lost Berryfrost. I hope he’s able to find comfort and happiness. He deserves it.”

Gorsepaw (vellichor): “Why did he have to disappear? I was so excited to train him. Yes, he didn’t show up to his first apprentice ceremony, but he seemed to have redeemed himself. He listened carefully to my lessons. But then he vanished.”

Lightningstorm (Alchemist Kitsune): “She’s a good medicine cat, and I know WindClan is in good paws with her. I feel bad for accusing her of negligence when the deathberries were Cowtuft’s fault. I hope she’s able to move forward. I know she can stand on her own four paws without him. She deserves the respect of her Clanmates.”

Firestorm (Dark): “I rescued her from the fire. I haven’t checked up on her lately, but I remember liking her. She has a lot of energy and spirit. Sometimes, a little too much, but I know she’ll mature in time. I see a lot of potential in her.”

Dimtail (Jessica1917): “My beloved father. I always looked up to him, even when Featherwhisker and Rosebriar cast him away from our family. He was a great warrior with a sensible mindset. It’s a shame he had to see me the way I was, discriminatory and trapped under my mother’s paw. I wish he could see me now. There’s so much I have to say to him.”

Batglare (Moonraven): “He’s a respectable senior warrior who’s given many seasons of service to WindClan. I expect he’ll continue to do so. I hope he’s a good mentor to Twistedpaw. He’s a gruff cat, but he’s not discriminatory, at least not that I know of. He’d better guide her pawsteps well.”

Ashfeather (TheNyanCatMinecart): “She used to be my arch-nemesis. She went against everything the old me valued. Heavily disabled, half-rogue, unable to stand her ground. I made her life miserable. I bullied and abused her physically and verbally, making her feel inferior. Even when I realized I was wrong and saved her life during the windstorm, I disliked her because I deemed her too soft. I didn’t think she was a good choice to mother Twilightstar’s kits because of her nature, and I didn’t care when she died. But now I realize that her meekness, her insecurity, her inability to fight back... I caused that. I made her life a living Dark Forest. I thought I had it bad, but Ashfeather... She had it far worse. She deserved to be reincarnated. I just hope Twistedpaw has a better life than her. But still, I wish I could apologize. Not that I’d deserve forgiveness, even though I’m sure she’d grant it, but I want her to know how sorry I am. Well... it’s too late for that now. At least she died feeling happy and loved, defending those who meant the most to her.”

Twistedpaw (TheNyanCatMinecart): “She’s Ashfeather’s reincarnation; she must be. How could someone come out an exact copy, bearing the same unique deformities without being directly related to Ashfeather? She seems nervous and self-conscious, like Ashfeather was. I hope no one’s coming after her like I did. Because if they are... I’ll give them a piece of my mind. She doesn’t deserve to be tormented in her second life. I hope she grows into the fine, confident warrior Ashfeather always should’ve been.”

Lilacdawn (Zesha): “I will be forever grateful to her. She listened when I told her about my unusual emotions for Leopardsong, and she helped me identify them as love. I wish she were still here. Is her mate still in the Clan? I don’t know. But she was a good, kind cat.”

Peachfrost (Poprock): “I have a lot of respect for her. She was a great warrior, quite violent when it came to ShadowClan, but I could sympathize. It was her attitude and short temper that were problematic. Twilightstar exiled her, and I can see why. She was too keen for Cowtuft’s blood. Of course, that was before we knew he was at fault... I respect Twilightstar’s decision to exile her. However, sometimes, I find myself hoping she’ll come back.”

Eldersky (plum): “Fernpaw’s sister. I remember defending her when she came back to WindClan with her kits. She was a good cat. Sensible, smart, loyal, willing to redeem herself. It’s a shame she disappeared not long after returning. I hope her kits are okay.”

Dapplebreeze (Alchemist Kitsune): “Bravebird’s mother and a true warrior. Her loyalty, determination, and devotion can’t be doubted. I can see where Bravebird got her best qualities from.”

Toadpaw (plum): “Originally, I hated him for the mental turmoil he forced me to go through. Now I’m forever in his debt. He helped put me on the path toward redemption.”

NEUTRAL

Sunpelt (Reptilian Cabinets): “I was never really close with him. I just knew him as Featherwhisker’s new mate. He didn’t seem as vile as her, but he still loved her despite how much she expressed her views. I’m not sure what to think of him. But he’s gone now, so what does it matter?”

Stormpaw (Catherine): “I don’t remember much about him. He was my first apprentice and a former rogue, so I wasn’t the nicest. He ran away not long after he was assigned to me. Although it took a hit on my honor, my younger self deserved it. Stormpaw wouldn’t have been happy under my mentorship, either. One less young mind for my cruel self to corrupt.”

Sparrowpaw (nocturnal): “I also don’t remember much about him. He ran away right after he was assigned to me.”

Cloverheart (Spartan-117): “A long time ago, I knew her as a simple WindClan apprentice. I viewed her less highly when she joined Ashfeather’s failed coup. Then she left, and I forgot about her... until she returned, and Twilightstar gave her to me to mentor. She hates me. That much is clear. She’s been through the Dark Forest and back, and I abused the cat she loved. It took me a while to come to terms with her hatred. I have changed, but that doesn’t mean the past has been erased. It’s her choice whether to forgive me or not. If she doesn’t, so be it. But she needs to be willing to learn from me, and it seems she is. That’s what matters most.”

Barleybite (Demeter): “I still can’t get over what I did to him. He was a kit then, the age of an apprentice and plenty disobedient. He made some grand speech, determined to run off to ThunderClan. And what did I do? I attacked him. I attacked a cat with no training. He was technically a kit. I beat him to the point of unconsciousness, then dumped him by the ThunderClan border. The memory still makes me sick. He survived, though, which I’m grateful for, and I meant to apologize... but he disappeared in the fire. I hope he made it through the fire. He deserves to be happy. No thanks to me.”

Ivysnake (TheNyanCatMinecart): “She’s a typical piece of ShadowClan scum, but honestly, I don’t know much about her other than that she was a curious soul, a warrior before becoming a medicine cat apprentice, Dawnstar’s daughter, and Shadestorm’s, too. I didn’t know the two of them were together. She doesn’t look much like either of them. Anyway, I’d usually hate all ShadowClan cats, but I don’t much know what to think of her. She just came up to me one Gathering and pestered me with questions. I’m sure she got what was coming for her with Spiderthroat and all. Good riddance.”

Rookscreech (Shade.): “I didn’t like her for a while. She was from ShadowClan; how could I? I beat her up pretty badly during the border battle. Then she joined WindClan. I wasn’t happy about it, but I like her sensibility in not wanting to live under Dawnstar’s corrupt reign. And now I know she’s Deadmoon’s friend. I’m not the most comfortable around her, but I’ll try to be nice, for Deadmoon’s sake.”

Brightsky (Fuzzy): “I don’t remember much about her. She held the leader role, then the deputy role, for such a short time. I don’t remember why she stepped down. But she’s there, tugging at the corners of my memory.”

Tulipwing (TheNyanCatMinecart): “I remember her a little from when she was an apprentice. She acted too much like Rosebriar and Featherwhisker for my taste. I was always a little uncomfortable around her. But I didn’t want to judge her too harshly. After all, I hardly knew her. It’s a shame she died of sickness. Snow Fever? Or something else? Either way, it was kind of Twilightstar to give her a warrior name before she passed. I hope she’s happy in StarClan.”

Coyotesnarl (wren): “His reign was so long ago, first as WindClan’s medicine cat, then our deputy. Twilightstar trusted him a lot. He was a powerful warrior who died because of ShadowClan’s wrath. I don’t think I liked him much, but I can’t remember why.”

Coldamber (Abyssopelagic): “She was WindClan’s medicine cat for a time. I remember judging her for her missing leg but respecting her because she held such a high position. On reflection, she was a good medicine cat, and my old self can chew on a rabbit’s tail. Still... it’s hard to remember much else about her.”

Blazingstar (SuspiciousMindz): “I don’t remember much about him. I think he was a good leader.”

Mistcloud (Topaz): “I don’t remember much about her now, but she had a presence in my life. There was something weird going on with her family...”

Silentstorm (carmen): “I remember thinking she was a good warrior but judging her because she was deaf. She missed many patrols... not something I’m happy about. But she was a good addition to the Clan.”

NEGATIVE

Dawnstar (Undertaker): “I hate her with every hair on my pelt, every bone in my body, every drop of blood in my veins. How StarClan granted such a vile creature nine lives is beyond me. She’s ten times as bad as her mother, Icestar, and she was bad enough. I remember the reign of terror she led against WindClan. Killing our cats, skinning them, keeping their pelts as trophies... It makes me sick to my stomach. I want her dead as soon as possible, but I want her to suffer. I’d like to rip her throat out a few times myself. I can’t hate anyone as much as I despise Dawnstar. I hope she’s condemned to the Dark Forest for the rest of all the moons. Not that she’d view it as torture. That’s how far gone she is.”

Grimhound (spade): “Nearly as despicable as his leader. He skinned our warriors, sucked up to Dawnstar like a kit to its mother, viewed killing as a game. He’s a disgrace to the warrior code. I hate him, and I pray he’s gone for good.”

Finchwhisker (Puddle~): “ShadowClan’s deputy for a time and my first rivalry outside of WindClan. I remember how excited I was when I got the opportunity to fight the deputy of an enemy Clan. I was desperate to beat him, but we tied, and our conflict was never resolved. I wish it was. I would’ve loved to score my claws across his face.”

Shadestorm (Singing Jay): “I will admit, he wasn’t as bad as some other ShadowClan cats. But I didn’t like him, either - and we also had an unfinished fight. Ironic. Two ShadowClan deputies I never got to settle scores with.”

Icestar (pidgeon): “I remember thinking Icestar was bad. And she was - cruel, calculating, just as cold as her name. She spat on the warrior code and never seemed to be in control of her own warriors. But what I will forever hate most about her is that she birthed Dawnstar.”

Leechscar (Undertaker): “From the beginning, our relationship was complicated. I was honored to get Twilightstar’s son as an apprentice - then I realized that he shared none of the Clan loyalty, respect, or honor that his mother is known for. He spits on the warrior code and rolls his eyes at everything the Clans stand for. That insolent young tom. He’s an insufferable furball, always a pain in the tail. And he hates me. But... I know part of it has to do with how I abused his adopted mother, Ashfeather. He has every right to despise me for that. But that doesn’t mean I don’t dislike him for plenty of other reasons. I will admit, he has some good qualities. He’s smart, logical, strong, and has good common sense. He also helped Leopardsong when she was dealing with her grief over me. I’ll always owe him for that. And, for Leopardsong’s sake, I’ll try not to snarl whenever he’s in my general vicinity. I understand now why she’s willing to act friendly toward him, and I’ve had to crush down my distaste. I won’t control who Leopardsong likes - and he did save her life. I remember how scared I was that she’d choose him over me, and, though I came to terms with respecting whoever she decided to end up with, I’m immensely relieved that that doesn’t seem to be the case. It wouldn’t be easy, watching her and my enemy act affectionately toward each other. Can Leecchscar even be affectionate? I can’t see Leechscar being a good mate - or friend - for anybody. All the more reason not to associate with him whenever possible.”

Featherwhisker (Quasar): “Every day, I despise her for what she did to me, what she taught me, how she placed my paws on the path of discrimination and pain. She taught me the values I used to hold dear. I was never as close to her as Rosebriar was, but I still respected her, honored her. Now I’m glad she’s in the Dark Forest where she belongs. She may have birthed me, but she does not deserve to be called my mother. I don’t want her to be my mother. Still, old habits die hard. I sometimes refer to her as such.”

Rosebriar (TheNyanCatMinecart): “My sister, my littermate. We used to be closer than thorns on a gorse bush. We loved each other, supported each other, upheld our horrible values. We thought we were the best and the brightest WindClan had to offer. I wanted to be leader, and I was going to make her my deputy. Now my knees quake at the thought of her in any kind of position of power. When I became WindClan’s deputy, my values began to conflict with hers, and we drifted apart. I wasn’t sure what to think, how to feel. I ignored her. When she got mauled by the dogs and when she disappeared, I felt guilty. But, after I died and I saw that she’d rejected StarClan to be with Featherwhisker, I had no love for her, no guilt or regret. She’s just as vile as her mother. Discriminatory, cruel, selfish, and vain to the last. She disowned me, and I disowned her. I want nothing to do with such a vile cat.”

Batscreech (Tiabirb): “I’ve seen many an unruly warrior, but Batscreech stood out to me. She was the prime example of what I disliked in my Clan. Failure to do her duty. Not owning up to it. Fighting back instead. Disrespect. She’s the reason I implemented the temporary exiling punishment for failed patrols. I’m glad she’s gone, and I hope she never returns. We don’t need cats like her.”

Lioncloud (Kunaisoul): “Once, I liked her a lot. I even viewed her as a friend. She was a good, competent warrior, or so I thought. When she slacked off, she promised to own up to it. And I thought she had. Then the dogs attacked, and she acted like an apprentice fresh out of the nursery. Screaming her head off, reacting to events that weren’t happening, panicking, making the most hare-brained decisions known to WindClan. I lost all my respect for her. If it weren’t for her incompetence, a lot could’ve been avoided. I don’t know what happened to her after I died. I remember Bravebird yelling at her as my life slipped away... I hope she got punished, and I’m glad she’s gone. If she ever returns... Well, she shouldn’t expect any forgiveness from me.”

Beanstar (vellichor): “A disgrace who could rival Dawnstar. Well... or so Twilightstar says. I never saw the full extent of his rage, but if Twilightstar compared him to that vile creature, so should I. He attacked WindClan when they went to apologize and brutally ripped out Twilightstar’s stomach. Now he’s dead. Good riddance.”

Cowtuft (wolfie): “Once, I respected him as WindClan’s medicine cat. It was a little disconcerting, not being able to communicate with him, but as long as he was competent with herbs and his connection to StarClan was sound, I saw no reason to judge him for it - though I still find it a little odd that he could use his voice but chose paw signs instead. Maybe it was some kind of mental condition? It’s not my place to judge him for that. But then he betrayed WindClan in the worst possible way. He knowingly placed poison close to his herbs and neglected to notice that he was killing his Clanmates. So many cats - including Berryfrost, Snowybreeze’s love - died. Who else could’ve been killed? Leopardsong? Deadmoon? Twilightstar? I hope I never see him again. He doesn’t belong anywhere near Clan territory. And to think I defended him... But that was before I knew the poison was his fault.”

Silverpool (ophelia): “I don’t think I ever caught her name, but I remember her well. That RiverClan warrior with the black fur, white paws and belly, and unusual silver eyes... She held me under the river during that StarClan-cursed playdate Twilightstar and Lionstar arranged. I almost drowned because of her!”

Sootflare (duckie): “I was never a fan of him. Now, I normally wouldn’t judge a leader for stepping down, and I’d accept a cat who changed Clans, so long as they were loyal to their new one. But a former leader disowning his Clan? That feels like a spit in the face of the warrior code. It rubs my fur the wrong way.”

Aspenstrike (poppy): “The same goes for her. Why are so many former leaders coming to WindClan? Are we that much more honorable than the other Clans? Well, that’s an obvious answer, but still. Are they so far disgraced that their leaders abandon the Clan they pledged to serve?”

Embershard (Zee): “A wretched cat, hostile and un-warriorlike. I’m glad she’s gone. She never deserved to be a warrior. Too cynical and violent. Even worse than Leechscar, and that’s saying something.”

Kithood

Wolfkit was born into WindClan in the middle of greenleaf. His parents were Featherwhisker and Dimtail, and he had one littermate: his sister, Rosekit.

From a young age, his mother, Featherwhisker, planted ideas into his and his sister’s heads about how to act “properly.” She forced them to behave stiff and formal, teaching them to always keep their pelts groomed and to look and act presentable. However, her biggest teaching was that disabled cats and cats who weren’t of pure WindClan blood polluted WindClan. They made it weak and unable to fight against its enemies. As SkyClan had merged with RiverClan in the moon of Wolfkit’s birth, Featherwhisker used that as an example of failure and weakness, saying that they had too many disabled cats and blood from other places.

Wolfkit took all of these teachings to heart. He wanted to be the best warrior possible, and he wanted WindClan to be the strongest out of the five - now four. WindClan was the best, after all. They had to look and act properly to be above the “inferiors” and remain powerful. However, he quickly learned that he couldn’t repeat Featherwhisker’s teachings to anyone else. The Clan accepted the cats his mother hated. Wolfkit couldn’t understand why. Featherwhisker explained that the Clan cats were fools, becoming too soft, and that only restoring “the proper ways” could help them. And to do that, Wolfkit had to be handsome and eloquent on the surface but as righteous as possible behind the scenes. He and Rosekit had to become the most popular cats in the Clan so they could sway it to their side. Little leaders, they’d be. Praised and coddled by their mother, Wolfkit and Rosekit were spoiled. They felt superior, believing themselves to be “the best” because they were the only ones who’d been “properly taught.”

Wolfkit admired his father, Dimtail, and was distraught when he and Featherwhisker broke up. Featherwhisker ostracized Dimtail, saying he was awful, ugly, and not willing to conform to their views. Rosekit supported this adamantly. However, Wolfkit couldn’t condemn his father. He thought Dimtail was a great warrior and looked up to him. That’s when he figured out that it was okay to have those two opinions: He could stand for “what was right” and also admire those who had different views, so long as they didn’t fit the criteria themselves and were good WindClan warriors. After all, he couldn’t hate every cat who didn’t think the same as him, right? And he’d have to work with them if he would one day become leader and put WindClan on the path to a glorious era.

Even though Dimtail didn’t talk with them much and usually tried to avoid Wolfkit when he tried to seek out his father - and Featherwhisker made sure Dimtail and her kits stayed away from each other - Wolfkit enjoyed being with Dimtail’s kin, Moorpaw and Lilyantler. Moorpaw was the cool older cousin and Lilyantler the hard-working grandpa. Wolfkit looked up to them almost as much as he did Dimtail.

When Wolfkit and Rosekit were two moons old, Twistedkit was born. Featherwhisker was revolted. She screeched at the she-kit’s mother, Whitetuft, telling her to get rid of that abomination at once. However, Whitetuft viewed her reputation too highly and instead left the nursery as soon as Twistedkit was able to swallow solid food (one moon), not wanting to gain suspicion from the leader, Blazingstar, or the newly-named medicine cat, Beeblaze, by abandoning her or letting her starve. Nor did she want to put her “burden” on another queen. Featherwhisker taught Wolfkit and Rosekit to hate her. Not only was she the most deformed cat WindClan had ever seen, but she was also half-rogue thanks to her father.

At three moons old, Wolfkit began to watch WindClan struggle. The deputy, Buttercupbreeze, complained of a lack of completed patrols, and Blazingstar began to lose lives rapidly from infection after a hunting incident. He eventually died, and Buttercupbreeze took his spot, becoming Brightstar. Twilightshine was named deputy. Featherwhisker pointed out every incident to her kits. It was because of Twistedkit’s birth, she said, that WindClan was struggling. Wolfkit and Rosekit believed her. This cemented Wolfkit’s belief that deformities and impure blood weren’t just a hindrance: they were a curse from StarClan.

They began to do all they could to make Twistedkit’s life worse. They put thorns into her nest, bullied her, and hit her around. Wolfkit got a sick sense of satisfaction from doing so. Not everything in life had to be stiff and proper. They were going to be warriors, after all. They needed to get their paws dirty and do mean things - but they had to hide them from their Clanmates. There was a time for being proper and a time for being rude.

Then came his fourth moon, the Dark Days. Beeblaze was ripped apart by coyotes, then the prey was poisoned, forcing many to have violent hallucinations. It was a terrifying time as Wolfkit watched his powerful Clan deteriorate. Moorpaw ended up dying, and Lilyantler grew distant as his daughter was lost. Wolfkit mourned the loss of his kin. He, Rosekit, and Featherwhisker barely survived, but the aftermath was worse. It took a moon for the rains to come and cleanse the prey, but then leaf-bare was upon WindClan, and they began to starve. Some even resorted to cannibalism. At least they got two new medicine cats, Mistyfern and Coyotesnarl.

Featherwhisker did her best to shelter her kits, saying that this wasn’t the WindClan she knew and insisting that this was because of the deformed and the impure. These events heavily impacted Wolfkit. He’d known that he needed to be tough and that life wasn’t always prim and proper, but this opened his eyes up to just how brutal it could be. And the cats who couldn’t face it, who resorted to terrible things like eating other cats, didn’t deserve to be in WindClan. Basic decency was vital - looking good, following the warrior code, not cannibalising the dead - but so was physical strength. They had to be powerful. Ferocious. And that didn’t always involve good manners. Also, if they had deformed and impure cats in the Clan, they’d be weak. They wouldn’t be able to face these dangers.

Wolfkit’s views were slightly different from his mother’s and sister’s - he was vain, but not quite on the same level - but he still cared about appearances and detested anyone deemed “impure.” He cared more about becoming a powerful warrior than they did.

Apprenticehood

Wolfkit and Rosekit became apprentices as Wolfpaw and Rosepaw mid-way through leaf-bare, around the time Brightstar stepped down and became deputy as Brightsky and Twilightshine took up the mantle as leader, Twilightstar. He trained hard, learning to fight fiercely and practicing his battle skills whenever he got the chance. He began to become quite the boaster, but eventually gained the maturity to remind himself that he needed to be more careful about how he presented himself or else he’d be judged. He was far from perfect, though. Ironically, despite Rosepaw and Featherwhisker being more concerned about those things, they didn’t seem to realize how to tone down their narcissism. They only knew how to hide their views of others, and even then, they slipped.

Somehow, despite being neglected by nearly everyone, Twistedkit was still alive. With Featherwhisker’s approval, Wolfpaw and Rosepaw convinced her to go to the edge of camp and follow a large bird. It snatched her, and they thought she was gone for good. However, she returned a moon later. They were sorely disappointed, but at least she was punished by Twilightstar. They got a good chuckle out of that.

Two, almost three, moons into Wolfpaw’s training, coyotes attacked. They were forced to migrate. ThunderClan and ShadowClan graciously decided to shelter the refugees, and Wolfpaw and Rosepaw decided to go to ThunderClan. So did Featherwhisker... and Twistedpaw. Wolfpaw and his family were thoroughly annoyed. Why wouldn’t she die?

WindClan was able to go home soon after, and Twistedpaw became an apprentice late. Featherwhisker also got a new mate, Sunpelt. Wolfpaw was fine with him. However, he missed Dimtail and wished his father weren’t so distant or disapproving. He understood why Featherwhisker had cut things off, but he still admired Dimtail. It wasn’t his fault his opinions were flawed. He served WindClan well.

Wolfpaw continued his apprenticeship. He was closer than ever with Rosepaw. They were like two feathers on a bird’s wing. They talked, hung out, tried out their charms on fellow apprentices, complained about WindClan’s “flawed” viewpoints. And, of course, tormented Twistedpaw.

Around this time, tensions with ShadowClan - who they’d previously been neutral with, almost even friendly - began to rise. Blackpaw, a friend of Twistedpaw’s, attacked Rosepaw and marred her beautiful appearance with a scar. Wolfpaw was furious. This was the perfect example of what impure cats did: they schemed with cats from other Clans and created trouble.

Early Warriorhood

Wolffang and Rosebriar became warriors after the regular six moons of training. Somehow, Twistedpaw - renamed Ashfeather - managed to become a warrior at the same time, having completed her training early. It was quite infuriating. How had she done it? Especially since she’d started her apprenticeship late? They were livid, but what could they do?

Around this time, Featherwhisker birthed a litter of Sunpelt’s kits: Deadkit, Lavenderkit, Primrosekit, and Lostkit. All of them died except for Deadkit. Everyone hated Deadkit because she’d been born with a twisted paw. However, they couldn’t get rid of her, not with WindClan’s watchful eyes. Wolffang vowed that, when he became leader, he’d find a way to make WindClan whole. Pure. These cats - disabled, not of pure WindClan blood - would not just be cast out. They would suffer for all the trouble they caused.

Meanwhile, ShadowClan’s tyranny began to escalate until WindClan had had enough. Twilightstar gathered WindClan’s warriors together to drive them out. Wolffang got a chance to fight Finchwhisker, the ShadowClan deputy, but their fight was a draw. This left a lasting rivalry between them and a desire for Wolffang to beat him one day. WindClan succeeded in driving ShadowClan out, and Wolffang hoped that was the last they’d ever see of the corrupt Clan.

Wolffang wasn’t done, though. He went on a rampage, attacking an innocent ShadowClan apprentice who strayed too far named Cherrypaw. They deserved all the pain. He even attacked a member of his own Clan, overaged Barleykit who wanted to join ThunderClan. He knocked the kit unconscious and deposited him by the border. One less traitor.

WindClan was also having good relations with RiverClan - Wolffang wasn’t a fan of WindClan being close with anybody, but oh well - and Twilightstar orchestrated an event she referred to as a “playdate.” Wolffang and Rosebriar thought it was stupid, but they attended, anyway. It was a disaster. Wolffang was almost drowned by a RiverClan warrior named Silverpool.

As he was recovering in the medicine cats’ den, he overheard a private conversation between Twilightstar and Coldamber. Twilightstar trusted him not to repeat it. Wolffang promised he wouldn’t. Inside, he was bursting with excitement. Twilighstar trusted him with something! He felt special. He just needed to conceal how much he abused Ashfeather and hated certain cats, and everything would work out. He’d be deputy, leader...

Deadkit became Deadpaw. Wolffang ingrained in her mind that she was a failure but could be worth something if she worked hard enough and accepted that she was lesser. It wasn’t like WindClan would kick her out, so he might as well try to make her of some use. Besides, she was his kin. He didn’t want to be disgraced because of her. Not that WindClan seemed to mind, but he, Rosebriar, and Featherwhisker cared. They wanted to estrange her. Woffang did, too, but he felt that they were stuck with her and had to do something about it.

A lot occurred during this time. First, Wolffang got some experience with apprentices. He was assigned Stormpaw, a former Outsider who vanished almost immediately. Then he got Sparrowpaw. Similar circumstances. Wolffang was frustrated. How would Twilightstar trust him if his apprentices kept vanishing?

Featherwhisker had another kit, a disfigured one named Morningkit. The family wasn’t sure why their kits kept coming out that way. Unfortunately, Morningpaw was assigned to Wolffang. He was an abusive mentor, physically and verbally, wanting to shape her up into an acceptable warrior while always reminding her that she was awful. They hated each other. Featherwhisker also went missing around this time. Wolffang and Rosebriar never saw her again. Both mourned their mother, Rosebriar especially, but Wolffang knew he had to move on. Dimtail’s disappearance hit him harder. He hardly batted an eye when Sunpelt vanished.

Meanwhile, ShadowClan’s aggression only became worse. They’d returned. Icestar was dead, and her daughter, Dawnstar, had taken her place. Another dark time befell WindClan. Dawnstar kidnapped Twilightstar and hid her from WindClan, then took over WindClan as a form of revenge. Wolffang and Rosebriar hated this with all their hearts. But what could they do?

Wolffang regretted that he wasn’t a part of the coop that found Twilightstar, but he partook in the battle to drive out ShadowClan. Apparently, Ashfeather had organized her own coop against Dawnstar, though it had failed miserably and went nowhere. Among the group were two apprentices: Cloverpaw and his own Morningpaw. Wolffang was livid that she’d helped Ashfeather with anything. Morningpaw went missing not long after.

Twilightstar resumed her position as WindClan’s leader, but they were left without a deputy. WindClan’s deputies had dropped like flies. They kept dying or resigning. Wolffang was hoping to get the role someday, but he didn’t expect it to happen so soon...

Deputyhood

Wolffang was appointed as WindClan’s deputy. He was delighted, and so was Rosebriar. He was in a position of power! However, he was challenged by an apprentice, Toadpaw, about his views. Some cats must’ve caught wind of them. Wolffang tried to tide it over, wanting to be accepted without fully throwing aside his views, but he did a poor job of it. Twilightstar was furious and told him to keep his values to himself. She wouldn’t judge him, but it had to be kept out of WindClan. Wolffang was angry, but he relented. He’d find a way.

He respected Twilightstar, but he hated her values. Why did she let Outsiders in? Why did she appoint disabled cats as High Ranks? He didn’t understand. She’d even let Ashfeather help care for her kits!

However, it didn’t take long for Wolffang to realize that it would be nearly impossible to thrive and be popular while having drastically different views from his Clanmates. He resigned himself to pretending to accept cats he didn’t like, more so than he already had. And yet, without Featherwhisker’s constant reinforcement, new ideas began to seep into his mind. He began to feel things he hadn’t felt before. Guilt. Regret. A bit of clarity. He began to wonder if he’d been a bit too harsh and if Featherwhisker’s views were truly right. He’d seen examples of disabled cats helping their Clanmates, learning to be warriors, thriving as High Ranks. And tragedies happened all the time, not just when disabled cats or cats without pure WindClan blood were around.

Could it be possible that they weren’t so bad? That they could be normal members of a Clan? That they didn’t inflict trouble upon the Clans? If that was the case, were Featherwhisker and Rosebriar wrong? Was he wrong?

It was a lot to handle. Wolffang was very stressed. He’d started by pretending to change his views, but now his views were actually changing. He felt less confident. Like everyone was watching him. Was it always going to be like this, him trying to be something he wasn’t? Or was he actually changing? Because what had started out as social pressure began to feel real. Everything Wolffang thought he knew was turned on its head.

But he did start apologizing to Deadpaw for what he’d done. His half-sister accepted eagerly, and Wolffang, though a little uncomfortable, found that apologizing made him happy. It felt right. Yet he still wasn’t entirely sure what to think. He’d just wanted WindClan to be safe and strong. Right?

It didn’t help that all of this occurred during a major period of turmoil for WindClan. First, ShadowClan was constantly hounding them, going as far as to skin cats and steal territory. Wolffang’s fury toward ShadowClan only grew. How dare they do this, spitting on the warrior code? He wanted revenge more than anything. He led the patrol to reclaim WindClan’s territory, but it failed, and one cat - Yellowpaw - died.

Wolffang was extremely active, trying to cope with the faltering patrols and ShadowClan’s wrath, but his intense mental turmoil was building. Everyone was watching him. Everyone thought he was a bad cat. He’d gone against everyone, and now he was realizing that they were right; however, did they realize how much he’d changed? What if they still judged him for his past? The thought was unbearable. It made Wolffang distracted and even lazy at times.

His once-close relationship with Rosebriar was deteriorating. She was furious with him for going against their mother’s values, and Wolffang was uncomfortable around her. He’d grown to understand that what he’d believed was wrong now, and, as much as he loved his sister, he couldn’t agree with her. It got worse when a pair of dogs raided the WindClan camp. Rosebriar was mauled, losing the looks that mattered so much to her, and Wolffang hardly checked up on her. One day, she vanished. Wolffang felt extremely guilty that he’d ignored her because he’d been so caught up in his Clanmates’ opinions of him.

However, he had had the time to foster other relationships. He’d become close with Skyleaf and Fernpaw before ShadowClan killed them, along with Lioncloud, his youngest half-sibling, Snowypaw, and Leopardsong, a fellow warrior.

A windstorm drove the Clan underground. Wolffang, though he knew he’d been wrong, still disliked Ashfeather; however, he saved her. Wolffang was terrified of the tunnels, but he had to go down there. The stress of being underground and the idea that everyone hated him built up. He exploded at Leopardsong, releasing his pent-up feelings, desperate for someone to hear him. But Leopardsong was mad at him, and Wolffang felt wretched and like even more of a failure than before. He apologized, and they reconciled. However, Twilightstar wasn’t impressed. Wolffang felt like she hated him, too.

Then Morningpaw returned. Wolffang went to her and apologized, expecting her to accept like Deadpaw - now Deadmoon - had, but she didn’t. He was shocked, taken aback. Then he realized that he was selfish, expecting her to forgive him when he’d done so many terrible things to her. Morningpaw eventually decided to start over with him, and Wolffang agreed, grateful for the opportunity. Alas, she went missing.

Things began to cool off. Wolffang began to realize that he was paranoid and granted himself some grace, happy that he had changed while accepting that he couldn’t change the past. He got one of Twilightstar’s sons, Leechpaw, as an apprentice. However, their relationship was rocky. Leechpaw wasn’t respectful, acting quite rude and with little regard for his Clanmates or the warrior code. Wolffang vowed to teach him some respect. However, that never happened.

He felt more than ready to continue serving WindClan as their deputy... but Twilightstar was concerned about his mental state and said that he should step down. Wolffang wanted to argue, but he knew better. He hadn’t acted the best. Besides, it would be better for him, serving without being in the limelight. He agreed, and his stepping down was announced. Fallownose was appointed in his place, and Wolffang vowed to support him.

Warriorhood

Wolffang found that he was much happier as a warrior than he’d been as a deputy. There was less stress, less obligations, and he knew how to conduct himself now. Ashfeather died, and Wolffang couldn’t bring himself to care much. He met Bravebird and began to grow close with her. He also began to realize that his feelings toward Leopardsong were romantic, thanks to Lilacdawn. Wolffang wasn’t sure how to confess, and he spent a while trying to figure it out.

Then he went out on a patrol with Toadpounce, Lioncloud, and Fernpaw - who had been revived - toward the ThunderClan border. They encountered dogs. Wolffang fought tooth and claw to keep his Clanmates safe, but his wounds were grave. He managed to make it back to camp before collapsing and bleeding out. That was the moment he realized Twilightstar didn’t hate him as she wished him safe passage into the afterlife, thanking him for his service to WindClan.

Temporary Afterlife

Wolffang woke up in StarClan. He was desperate to find Leopardsong in a dream and tell her that he was safe, still haunted by the memory of her tears soaking into his torn pelt. He ran around, trying to figure out what to do, but something felt wrong. He didn’t have the knowledge StarClan cats usually possessed.

He ended up accidentally wandering into the Dark Forest. Once he realized his mistake, he wanted to back out immediately - but he was confronted by two cats.

The first was his mother, Featherwhisker, who had been sentenced to the Dark Forest for her crimes.

The second was his sister, Rosebriar, who was a StarClan cat but had followed his scent trail into the Dark Forest.

Featherwhisker and Rosebriar reunited. Although they were both disgusted over her disfigurements, mother and daughter were happy to be together again. Wolffang, however, couldn’t muster any joy. These cats had both shaped his life in negative ways. Once, they had been friends, family. Now they were... what? Wolffang wasn’t sure. However, he was uncomfortable, dreading the moment where he had to admit he’d changed.

And he did tell them the truth once asked. As expected, Featherwhisker and Rosebriar were furious, saying that he’d rejected his birthright, gone against what was deemed “correct,” and thrown away his potential as deputy. And Wolffang was having none of it. Once he spoke and heard them speak, he wasn’t afraid anymore. He didn’t care what they said about him. He knew now how terrible they were, how terrible they’d all been, and he’d never go back. These vile cats didn’t deserve to be called his kin. Deadmoon, Morningpaw, Snowypaw... they were his kin. He yelled at them, and they disowned each other. Wolffang went back into StarClan... but the world faded, and suddenly, he was surrounded by spirits.

StarClan told him that it hadn’t been his time to die. His death had been a horrible mistake, and now it was time for him to return and live the life he deserved.

Revived

Wolffang woke up on WindClan territory. He was so relieved, so happy, so grateful to be alive. He was found by a WindClan patrol led by Fallownose and Skyleaf, who had also come back from the dead. He rejoiced in seeing them... then felt horrified once he learned that he’d been gone for three moons. It had felt like such a short time, but a lot had happened. The conflict with ShadowClan had ended when WindClan had reclaimed the Sky Glade, the territory Wolffang and WindClan had failed to reclaim in the past. His apprentice, Leechpaw, was now a warrior, Leechscar. And so many cats, including some of his closest friends and kin, had either died or gone missing.

It was a difficult blow, especially once Wolffang realized how much he’d missed and how much had changed. He cursed himself for being gone. Even worse, Leopardsong, his closest friend and love, was distraught over his death. His death had affected many. They reconciled, yet Wolffang found that Leechscar hated him more than ever. It got even worse when he learned how close Leopardsong’s grief had come to consuming her. How could he have done such a thing? And what if she was closer to Leechscar than she was with him because he hadn’t been there for her?

Eventually, Wolffang managed to come to terms with it all. It wasn’t his fault for dying. He couldn’t have prevented that. And Leopardsong’s and Leechscar’s relationship was none of his business. All he had to do was live the best life he could in WindClan now that enough time had passed and he’d mended his wrongs.

Moorpaw and Bravebird returned from the dead. Wolffang meant to approach Bravebird, but, after learning that she’d lost her memories, fear held him back. He also avoided Moorpaw, unsure of what to say. But he was able to reconnect with Lilyantler. His grandfather had been lost in a depressive state, but now he was better, and Wolffang was willing to speak with him. They got along well.

There was also a new WindClan apprentice named Twistedpaw who looked like an exact copy of Ashfeather. At this point, Wolffang was beginning to realize how wrong he’d been to judge her for her personality, for he’d caused much of her timidness and fear. She’d been a good cat. He’d brought her down. He realized Ashfeather must’ve been reincarnated, and he vowed not to let Twistedpaw suffer the same fate as her.

One leaf-bare, a disease called Snow Fever hit. Many cats died. It was a tragic time, but WindClan emerged victorious, ready to embrace the warm seasons.

Then a fire tore through WindClan’s territory during a dry greenleaf. It was a nightmare as everyone scrambled to escape. Wolffang was forced to watch his wonderful home get razed to the ground. They sheltered near RiverClan until new territory could be scouted. Barleybite, the kit Wolffang had hurt, returned, but he went missing before Wolffang could work up the nerve to talk to him. So did Bravebird. Guilt constantly nipped at the back of his mind.

WindClan settled in a new part of the moor, still close to the other Clans. Bravebird returned, but Wolffang still avoided her. What could he do? Say? Moorpaw went missing before he could say anything to her. Deadmoon returned, at least, and Wolffang talked to her as soon as he could.

Cloverpaw returned to the Clan, becoming Cloverheart and being assigned to Wolffang. He had trouble dealing with her because she hated him, viewing Ashfeather as a mother figure and knowing Wolffang to be her tormentor. It was yet another reminder of the past he’d led.

WindClan’s troubles were far from over. RiverClan began to cause trouble, heckling WindClan over a misunderstanding and brutally taking away one of Twilightstar’s lives. Some hostilities began to spring up between ThunderClan and WindClan, too. For the first time Wolffang could remember, ShadowClan and WindClan had the best relationship out of the four.

Also, many WindClan cats began to die of a mysterious poison. It came to light that Cowtuft, the current medicine cat, had brought deathberries into camp and knowingly put them too close to the herbs. He wasn’t aware that the herbs were being poisoned, but his negligence was remarkable. Wolffang initially defended Cowtuft before he knew Cowtuft was responsible for the poison; then he condemned Cowtuft once the truth came out. Cowtuft was exiled. Furious at this verdict, Twistedpaw attacked Wolffang when he tried to get her to calm down. Wolffang was shocked but didn’t get angry at her. He just hoped that she was doing okay and would be taught not to repeat the incident.

Not long after, Wolffang began to relapse into some of his rough mental episodes. A terrible dream shook him to his core, leaving him awake. He’d done so many bad things, and now he was allowed to be happy and live a good life? Not to mention how he’d neglected the cats who’d gone missing and returned and caused Leopardsong so much pain. He felt like a failure. However, he talked his feelings through with Leopardsong, and she helped put all of his worries to rest.

He’s a good cat now. He’s apologized for what he’s done. He’s guilty and working to make it better. Many will see him for who he’s become. Others will judge him for his past. However, he shouldn’t let it weigh him down. They’re allowed to have their opinions. He can’t erase the past, and it will always be a part of him, but he shouldn’t let it grate on his conscience or fill him with crippling guilt. It’s okay to be imperfect. It’s okay to struggle. He’s good for becoming better. Not many come to those realizations or get that chance. And the pain, the confusion, taught him many important lessons and turned him into what he is today.

Now Wolffang is ready to take on whatever challenge comes his way. He won’t be lost in the past, won’t wallow in his sorrow. He’s learned his lessons, and he’ll move forward as the cat he was always destined to be: a brave, loyal WindClan warrior.

Creation Date: Wolffang was created sometime in 2018 before I joined WCO.

Purrks: Beefed Up Tier 1

Trivia:
- Before WCO, Wolffang was a villain who made the protagonist Twistedfeather’s (who was Ashfeather on WCO) life miserable. He became leader, cast her out, had WindClan torture her, and mistreated her kin, even forcing her to watch as he threw her son’s corpse to be eaten by foxes. The old leader, who had been kidnapped by Twolegs, returned. I wasn’t sure whether he was exiled or if he got to stay, nor did I know if he went to StarClan or the Dark Forest. I could never decide. However, now it seems obvious that he should’ve been exiled and gone to the Dark Forest.
- Despite being the same age as Rosebriar and being actively involved in bullying Ashfeather, I didn’t start roleplaying Wolffang until after Rosebriar and Ashfeather became warriors because I didn’t want to manage three apprentices at once or mess up the timeline by adding him after Rosepaw.
- Wolffang and Rosebriar were supposed to be one moon older than Ashfeather, but the timeline didn’t work out.
- He used to have bright yellow eyes.
- Because Wolffang and Rosebriar were meant to uphold “traditional” values, I briefly considered making them homophobic and transphobic. However, I decided against it. That would be too much for me on top of the ableism, and besides, it was commonplace enough in this world to not face judgment from Wolffang’s family.
- Wolffang originally wasn’t meant to change. He was only added to make Ashfeather’s life miserable alongside Rosebriar. However, when he became deputy and began to face pressures from the Clan, I began to wonder how long he’d be able to stay on as deputy if he didn’t change. I didn’t want to lose the role; it was starting to feel unrealistic for him to have his viewpoints when the rest of WindClan thought differently; and I was feeling outside pressure because one person in the WCO Discord complained about him becoming deputy due to his viewpoints, and it was getting rougher to roleplay him knowing I’d be judged. His development seemed to come naturally, and I’m forever glad he changed.
- Wolffang’s scars have changed numerous times due to indecision.
- He and Leopardsong were supposed to be together three years ago, but they have yet to become mates.
- He’s my longest-standing character on WCO.
- Other than his death, he’s never gone missing.
- He was originally supposed to die as deputy to “preserve his honor.”
- Wolffang was never meant to be dead for long. It was supposed to be 1-3 weeks at most. However, his death RP took longer than expected and was later dropped.
