Luna kit blinked open her eyes, sniffing for food. Her belly growled loudly.

Whisperingflower was asleep in her nest, laying beside a couple of her kits that hadn't woke up and she looked up to see two already up and playing. The queen gave the four sleeping kits licks on the head to wake them up. "Come on little ones its time to wake up.", she meowed with her usual gentle voice.

Whisperkit groaned, pushing Whisperingflower's nose away with her back paw. She was a heavy sleeper, this was well-known, but after a moment of grumbling, she did get up and shake out her fur. She looked up at her mother, a beautiful creature, and then thought for the millionth time about what her father might look like, or what he acted like, or where he was.

Spiritflight stopped, remembering that the medicine cat wasn't experienced in this sort of this. He would have to do it himself, or at least try. He quickly ran outside and grabbed a stick. He handed it to Moonriselight. "Here. When the kits come, bite down on this. It'll dull the pain" He mewed gently, trying to banish all panic from this voice.

Moonriselight looked at him, feeling short on breath. She grabbed the stick in her mouth and let out a small but quite scream. Pain ran through her belly and she tried her best to stay calm. "I don't know if I can do this.", she whispered.

Softkit shook her head in slight protest, pushing herself away from the warmth of sleep. She flexed her paws, digging her thorn sharp claws into the moss beneath her before relaxing again. She could feel her littermates stirring around her but she paid no attention to them, deciding instead to sit up and stare with wide eyes at her familiar surroundings.

Moonriselight nodded and felt her body quiver as they were ready to be born. She closed her eyes and let the pain wash over her. The molly gave out a small push to try and get the first one. Panic washed over her as the doubt ran through her brain.

Moonriselight felt her eyes close with sleep, but opened them up again. This was no time to sleep. The queen got into a comfortable position on her left side. She gave out a big push.

Spiritflight caught the kit, kicked it warm, and quickly set it beside Moonriselight. He purred with affection. "He's beautiful" He mewed softly. He turned back and said encouragingly " Only a couple more pushes. I promise! "
