Since he was not allowed to leave the nursery, still being a kit, the tom had tried wasting his days by sleeping, hoping that the next moon would come by quick. Oh, how excited he was to become an apprentice! He would finally be six moons, the age to start his training. That was the one, and only thing he was looking forward to. The only downside to that was, he would hardly be able to see his best friend, Mockingkit as she had to wait two more moons to become an apprentice. Though the tom had promised himself that he would see her daily. The advantages of living in the same clan.

At the moment, he was deep in thought. Worried and fawning over the future. He wondered who his future mentor would be--good or evil? Would he make any friends? Any enemies? Would his mentor be impressed by his skills? Oh, how he had skills! In his opinion anyway. Hawkkit tried his best. His absolute best at winning any challenges. Challenges was his favorite, and he never cheated on one. He was too prideful for that. Though he wasn't the easiest kit to get along with.

Not many cats would know what pushed the tom's buttons, but yet, they wouldn't care. Hawkkit would get mad quickly. Ferociously anger over the simplest of things. Anger issues, known to others, but to Hawkkit, that was simply who he was, and he was quite proud, yet unhappy about it. From his corner of the nursery, he could make out a familiar face, looking distant, yet focused. He wanted to chuckle at her, and get up to talk to her, but his bones felt lazy, and he was quite comfortable in his spot. So, he laid his eyes on her and watched her. His yellow hues looking at her with pure interest.

She was an interesting kit indeed, if he dared admit. He was surprised that she became his best friend. She was the antidote to make him calm from an angry state. This was because he could relate to her in some way. He never seen her socialize with the other kits, not even he dared to do the same. What was the point of small talk anyway? Small talk was certainly a waste of time in the tom's opinion. Aside from that, he never truly met anyone that interesting to him. Except for Mockingkit. She wasn't as bouncy as the other kits. More mellow, and calm. More interesting.

Just so, he was watching her twiddle with a moss on her claws. Looking at it, trying to figure out what she's going to do with it. At this point, Hawkkit gets up from the nest, and he stretches, leaning down to extend his claws. He was contemplating about talking to her. Something he did everyday and found humor in it as well. She was the better company, the better cat, the less annoying cat. Before he could even make his move, she had already appeared before him. Her tone was dull, but that had not mattered. Her eyes displayed her emotions clearly.

''Hey, Mockingkit!'' In contrast to her, the tom's voice was light and friendly. It was how he acted whenever he was around her. He was happy to be around her. To be her friend. The tom let out another yawn, drawing sleep away from his eyes. He hopped out the nest he was laying in, and landed in front of Mockingkit. His head went from one side of the nursery to the other, observing the surroundings, and the queens. Their kits, some younger, some older. The smell of strong milk hit his noise, and he didn't know whether he would miss it, having to become accustomed to it, or ready to leave it behind in hopes of never having to return to the smell.

He knew he would have to return to the scent at some point in his life. Especially when he's an apprentice, and he would leave his best friend behind. It sucked that she would stay in the nursery, and he would be out...free...but he wasn't going to be free without the orange tabby in front of him. His smile widened as he lightly nudged her with his paw, ''Bored as usual, I could tell.'' It should had been a question, for he didn't know how she really felt, but from the way she was playing with that moss, not really giving any enthusiasm for it, he possibly guessed right that she had been bored.

It was quite amusing to him. Everything about her was amusing, and he wondered how ever could such a cat bring fun to his life, when they both seemed like the bland type of cats? The tom shook his pelt from the clinging moss, and he sat down on his haunches. If only they could do something for the day, but what would that be? Being confined in nursery walls were never his thing. But. As he looked at the orange tabby once more, he knew that he would be far from boredom once they start sharing their pathetic gossip and poor jokes. Which of both he was pleasantly fond of.

Even if she would never admit it, the she-cat knew that she would miss Hawkkit dearly when he left her to join the other apprentice’s in the apprentice’s den. She knew that he would still visit her, but even so it meant that she wouldn’t have someone to poke at every time she was feeling bored, and that happened quite often. Hawkkit would be enjoying life, learning about the ways of a warrior and she would be stuck in the nursery for yet another moon, awaiting the day that she could join in on the fun. Mockingkit knew she would probably feel envy crashing over her in waves every time that Hawkkit decided to boast about his training sessions. Every new apprentice seemed to do that. Even if her best friend wasn’t an apprentice yet, she could already tell what was going to happen.

Sometimes, Mockingkit found herself fretting over the smallest of things. And normally, it was rare to find this orange tabby worrying over something, for she cared little for half the things in the world. And one particular thing that she had worried about many times, was the future of the friendship that she and Hawkkit had. When the tom left her to become an apprentice, would their friendship fade away? Would he start spending more time with some other cat and break off all contact with her? Mockingkit didn’t like admitting anything, but she knew that would struggle if he did leave her. He was one of the few friends that she had. And he wasn’t just any old friend, he was her best friend. Who else would she tease and prod at when she was bored? That was the point, there would be no one. Everyone else was of little interest to her. They were all too jumpy. She preferred to stay cool, calm and collected. She wasn’t the kind of cat to laugh at every joke that was shared. She only laughed at the jokes that a specific few cats spoke and even so she was picky as to which jokes she decided to laugh at.

Despite her calm nature, all it could take was one rude statement and Mockingkit would immediately turn against you. She was a she-cat with a fiery temper and she was not to be messed with. She might appear mundane and dormant on the outside, but the flame inside of her could be ignited within a second. All it took was a bit of motivation and she would be on to you, spitting insults and making sure your life turned into hell. As harsh as it could be, Mockingkit found at yelling at another cat entertained her. The nursery was a place with hardly anything to do, so the occasional argument kept her from tearing the place into pieces. Anger drove her when she was disrespected. Mockingkit strongly believes that every cat deserves to have their opinion heard and respected, although some cats found that that was quite a hard feat. When cats interrupted her or said that her ideas and thoughts were stupid, she didn’t let it slip away. She was headstrong and also believed that they to shouldn’t be allowed to get away with something just like that.

Out the corner of her eye, Mockingkit could see that Hawkkit was watching her from his nest, however she didn’t turn her head to face him. Creep, she thought, nearly snorting in amusement. Both she and her best friend were similar in many ways. For example, they were relatively bland cats. They also didn’t socialise that much with their fellow clanmates, and they both got fired up easily. Perhaps that was why they were best friends. They were both so similar that they just had to be friends. If Mockingkit were any other cat, she wouldn’t see herself becoming friends with herself or Hawkkit. But even if most cats found the two of them boring, she didn’t care. She liked the way that she was, she had a personality and if she didn’t like socialising, then so be it. And even if she didn’t like socialising, Mockingkit wasn’t completely shut off to the rest of the world. She was always up to date with the latest gossip, which is something that most would never have thought. She wasn’t deaf and she wasn’t blind, so she might as well make good use of her senses to eavesdrop and steal glances at others.

As Mockingkit had spoken to her best friend, she had heard the dullness and boredom in her voice. It wasn’t like she cared though. The she-cat wasn’t a very emotional cat when she spoke. She didn’t purposely try to sound cheerful and friendly even if she did feel happy to see a cat, as she preferred to let her eyes do the speaking instead. Emotions were a complicated thing, and if she could choose, Mockingkit would probably decide that life was better off without emotions. But without emotions, what were cats? Creatures without any sense. The world would be free of guilt, anger, sadness and all those negative feelings. But at the same time, there were some glorious felings that would be missed out on. Like joy, happiness, excitement. So perhaps they did need emotions, but wouldn’t it be great to get rid of those negative ones? The ones that caused pain? That would be a great life.

The happiness in Hawkkit’s voice was evident as he responded. Honestly, the she-cat didn’t mind that he sounded so happy to see her. But then again, the she-cat wouldn’t have minded if anyone had sounded so happy to see her. No, it wasn’t because she was proud to think that she was popular, (even if she didn’t think that), she just didn’t care. Unless something was happening to her, Mockingkit just didn’t care what happened to a fellow clanmate. She liked sharing gossip and telling jokes, but only with a few specific cats. She preferred to have a small group of friends, rather than padding around camp searching for new friends every day. As of this day, the orange tabby didn’t care if hardly anyone in the clan knew her. All she wanted, was the thrive and become a great warrior. She’d probably want to become more well recognised in the future. For now, she was happy to keep to herself and not have anyone poking their noses into her business. Mockingkit wasn’t a fan of nosey cats. She believed that everyone needed to have some privacy, so that was why she didn’t go around shoving her nose into someone’s business. And even if she didn’t believe that, she still wouldn’t be doing that.

Her golden gaze raked across the nursery for a brief moment, looking around to see what her nursery mates were up to. In one corner there were a bunch of kits play fighting, and in another corner there were two siblings arguing with each other. Other than that, it was relatively quiet, surprisingly. Everyone must be out playing moss ball or something, Mockingkit thought, her eyes soon becoming bored as she returned her gaze to her best friend. The orange tabby had actually managed to grow a bit of a liking to the game moss ball. It was surprising addictive once you knew how to play it. It was one of the few games that the kit would actually join in with and play. She liked it, and she would bring herself out of her shell if that was what she had to do to play it.

Mockingkit nodded in response. “Well of course,” she snorted, rolling her golden orbs. Even though her tone was flat and blunt, amusement glimmered in her eyes. It seemed to surprise Mockingkit how she could find such amusement in a tom like Hawkkit. He, like her, was rather bland and the she-cat would never have been able to see just how interesting he was if she were any other cat. Perhaps she just found boring things interesting and found what most thought was interesting, boring. Well, that just seemed to add to Mockingkit’s uniqueness. She was different in many ways to the average cat, and was always surprising herself with what she thought and did. Her friendship Hawkkit in particular, seemed to amuse her.

Looking around, she could see the other kits looking so happy and energetic. Then her gaze carried over to the queens, some were smiling whilst other looked exhausted. Would she ever end up being stuck in the nursery when she was older? Would she become a mother some day? Honestly, the thought didn’t sound very appealing but it was an idea. What would she be like in the future? Would she stay the same and forever be the boring old Mockingkit? Or would she change and become bright and loud? No one could ever predict the future. The future was a complicated thing and it was not to be played around with. But, there were times where the she-cat really just wished that she could see into the future. She wanted to know if she would succeed or fail. The orange tabby wanted to know if perhaps one day she would lead RiverClan. There were so many things that the future had planned for her, she was just so sure of it. But, she didn’t know what she would receive. Would life end up punishing her if she committed a horrible crime? Or would it gift her a great talent? What does the future hold? That was a question that Mockingkit wished she could just ask someone and receive a direct answer. She had heard every now and again in a story shared by a queen, that when a cat received a prophecy, they were never clear. Was the future like a prophecy?

While most kits had a very sweet, almost pungent earthy smell, she had something more unique. The strange she-kit smelled more like a flower or plant; more like an adult, but she still retained the milky after-scent of a kit. An apprentice, maybe? His small head perked, and he let out a mew of confusion. Her footsteps were cautious; slow, deliberate, each making as little noise as he assumed she could manage. "Hello?" he squeaked, his voice high and tenor, yet still inviting; it was obviously not confrontational and showed he just wanted to know more. His pale amber eyes were misty; they never seemed to clear, yet they still glowed with verdant brightness and emotion, like a sun through clouds. "Who are you?"he mewed softly, stubby tail swishing happily.

Somewhere, somewhere before she knew she had seen the mistyness that was showing in the other kit's eyes. Somewhere before she had seen that expression on his features, like... like he was trying to see her-- but he can't, she suddenly realized. Blossomkit had never formally met a blind cat before. And, to be honest, it surprised her. Cocking her head ever so slightly to the side, she sat down, wrapping her tiny tail around her paws like a blanket. The fluffy fur covered them, giving her a sense of security; though how that was so secure to her was uncertain. "Um-m... hi," She mewed. Wait-- yes, she had said the right word. Good. "I'm... I'm, uh.. Blossomkit." And gotten her name right. So far so good. She hadn't messed a simple introduction up in a long time, though. And probably never would. "You are who? I mean, heh... are you-- I mean who are you?" And there ended the winning streak. So much for her better sounding voice. Maybe things would be better in a couple of moons. Why did she smell like flowers now? Where'd I get that, anyways? Perhaps it was from the flower-patch her friend had shown her earlier. That had to be it.

Cherrykit hopped over to the fish. She immediately leaped backwards, the smell grossing her out. "Yuck! What is that!?" she mewed super loudly and enthusiastically.

She'd normally do it on her own or while she knows no one's watching her so closely. She also didn't normally do it with other kits. Other cats in general. She liked being on her own and thinking. She loved observing and learning from her surroundings, it was just who she was. That was her idea of fun. "We both have different definitions of fun too," she spoke, her big yellow hues studying the way the other kit's fur bristled a little. Why? Was this another cat that happened to be sensitive to the Starclan topic? It wouldn't surprise her anyway. She didn't want to bring it up to Fernkit, seeing as it would be a waste of breath, though she'd continue on with it if he happened to press into her beliefs. She'd defend herself though. Coalkit was notorious for doing her own thing and being blunt.
Fernkit took a few moments to answer, "Well, being outside is a lot more fun because the queens don't get after you as much." He mewed. He liked to have a lot of fun, but he could be a bit rough with others at time. He got into trouble a lot, but it wasn't really on purpose. Fernkit nodded, "I guess so but we can still try and be friends!" He mewed. His mind was swept of all thoughts about Starclan and Coalkits comments, he was more concerned about making her his friend.

Cherrykit scooted around the nursery, wanting to go for a swim or even go to the elders den so they could tell her stories. The other kits all thought the stories were boring. It's our clans' history! she thought to herself. What do the other kits do all day? Cherrykit layed down, and day-dreamed that she was a warrior. In her dream she ws in a battle against Thunderclan for territory. "Cherryfall, go sneak-attack those flea pelts!" Russetstar yelled. Cherrykit slowly drifted asleep, and the dream was over.

"Woah!" She jumped in surprise,"Well then lets all play but keep it down it's moonhigh and we're not supposed to be out." She mewed in a hushed whisper bouncing around,"How about hide and seek!"
