Teddie ran through the forest, scared out of her mind. She had seen something out of the corner of her eye and thought it was one of the Horrors that has been hunting her for her entire life. She was sweating heavily, feeling her breath on her purple bear mask. Her stomach was growling loudly, her body was bruised. She was tired. Teddie stopped to lean on a tree and catch her breathing, trying to tame the monster in her stomach as it growled again, trying to tell her that it wanted something. Think, Teddie, think! You're good at lists... where was I? Where am I? Is the Horror nearby me? I don't think so. Am I-

Charlie stood on a log nearby, her neon yellow and pink hi-tops on the ground next to the log. She was barefoot right now, the white socks she was wearing balled up in her shoes. The twelve-year-old's arms were covered with long socks, that used to be white, but where colored green with markers. They had mix-matched buttons sewn on where eyes might be, and small felt forked tongues hung from their 'mouths.' Charlie's overalls and shirt were stained with mud and dirt, and her feet were also dirty. Her brown eyes were focused on a small frog that hoped along the roots of a tree nearby, and she hummed a tune.

Teddie looked up. Is that? There was a girl. She had... sock puppets? Teddie's stomach growled, making her flinch. She stepped back, trying to get away when she stepped on a twig.

Charlie heard the twig snap, and almost fell off the log in surprise. And then she did. She looked up from the ground, spitting dirt out of her mouth. The girl sat up, pulling on her socks and shoes. "Hullo!" She called out happily. Strangers were just friends she hadn't met!

Teddie heard the hello and turned and ran, scared of what was going to happen.

Charlie frowned, and pushed her round glasses further up her nose. She was used to this. Most people at school hated her. With a sigh, she lifted one of her hands up to her face. "Why are people so afraid of you Charlie?" She said in a silly voice, moving her hand in a mouth-way to resemble her snake puppet talking. "Yeah Charlie, we're your only friends!" 'Said' the other one. Charlie huffed. "Jeez guys, i don't know. But i mean, i don't care at all!" That was a lie. It got lonely when your only friends were two socks.

"Mom says you need to listen to your therapist!" Charlie said in the dumb voice, making the left snake-puppet speak. "Screw therapy Jerald!" Charlie retorted in her normal voice. "JEEZ, no need to use that sort of language!" She didn't notice that the girl was still here.
