Andrew had wedged himself in a corner and somehow managed to stay upright. “Nixx....” he growled in a warning voice, teeth bared in a nervous grimace. Suddenly he whipped his head towards the back of the cat. “What was that?” His sensitive ears had picked up a delayed thud and crack, as if something large had fallen over and broken.
The body inside the fallen cryotube(?) stirred.
Deya opened her eyes slowly, then snapped them open. Looking around with ragged breaths, she could see metal all around her.
Some kind of ship? She raised her clawed hands to the crack in front of her, pressing outward. With a sound like breaking ice, it shattered, and fresh air flooded her lungs. She gulped the oxygen and clawed her way out of her prison, her thick skin unharmed by the sharp pieces. She stood in the cramped area, partially crouching and head low on her long neck. “Where am I?” She whispered.
