A bit of time had passed; Sleepypaw had since attended a patrol, earning a brief looking of the territory, and been approached by one Honeybite over certain matters. With that considered, Sleepypaw began to think – quite deeply – she ought to see the territory probably, rather than just fleeting glances. She had to know her clan grounds well, and if Miss Grandmama’s words were anything to go by, it was the first step towards warriorhood. While her grandmother had been occupied with more pressing matters upon her firstly being apprenticed, Sleepypaw could help but wonder if perhaps she had time to show her today.

The young one, having previously informed her grandmother about her wish to stay with her for a little longer – not yet among the other apprentices, sat up within her nest as the morning’s sun looked over the horizon.
“Miss Grandmama,”
She began, blinking slowly.
“Can you.. Show me the territory today, if possible?”
She decided to bring up the query, politely, hoping for an affirmative answer – she knew her grandmother was often busy, much like her mama, and had little trouble accepting that fact. Though, nothing was gained if she did not try. Miss Grandmama would redirect the question should now not be a good time.

A hulking mass of muscle and scars had been slumbering comfortably within her den when a voice disturbed her sleep. Dawnstar had never been the deepest of sleepers, it took the smallest notice to have her jolting up with her nerves on end. It had taken a little while to accustom to having Sleepypaw within her den, but after a while, the apprentice became a part of her daily life. It was weirdly comforting strangely. Dawnstar never noticed her isolation until she had another cat in her den.

"Hmm," The leader grunted, stretching out all four legs and shaking her pelt, rousing herself into a more awake state. It might have been early, normally the light didn't touch her den, but when the sun was just right it streamed inside, irritating the clan leader.

"Oh, yes, we are behind on that aren't we?" Dawnstar commented, standing up and stretching again. "We can go take a walk around the territory, and see if we can get some hunting down while we're out," Dawnstar told the paw. It was early enough in the day that Dawnstar figured she could leave the clan without a catastrophe for at least a little while.

Dawnstar didn't wait long for an answer, knowing that Sleepypaw would follow behind her as directed. The leader led the way out of the camp and to one of the oldest landmarks within the territory. "This is the Mourning Ruins." Dawnstar meowed, pausing before the burnt barn.

"It was once known as the Waterbarn and served as an emergency camp during Icestar's, my mother's reign. During a raid by WindClan, several of our clanmates, kits, and queens, ran here seeking shelter. It mysteriously caught fire, killing several. After that, we renamed it the Mourning Ruins to remember those who died here. However, I doubt many cats recall the event today." Dawnstar meowed looking over her shoulder at the Sleepypaw. "It's a good place for hunting, there's a lake further back. What remains of Ruins can be used as a temporary shelter."

The young apprentice watched her leader rise within the confinements of the den, quietly waiting for a response. Sleepypaw knew Miss Grandmama was busy, that is why she hardly ever bothered the leader when she slept or for training when the youngling thought it may be an inconvenient time - but, perhaps, it seemed to be possible. Miss Grandmama said they were late with the tour, Sleepypaw gave no response to that, save from a,
"Thank you."
When Dawnstar agreed to take her out. Even better yet, they could do hunting later - Sleepypaw was very pleased with that news, hoping to show Miss Grandmama what she had learned about hunting in the meantime.

Silent and responsive to Miss Grandmama's direction, the white-flecked apprentice followed Dawnstar without an issue. Vibrant blue eyes watched the territory pass by them, taking in the scenery she had not had the chance to see before, save for the few steps beyond camp that led to the swamp on patrol. She was glad to see these grounds, now, head turning as her eyes sought landmarks to remember and an ear perked to know where Miss Grandmama was. Before long, they reached a place with an air of familiarity.

Mourning Ruins. The Waterbarn. Sleepypaw observed the burnt down bar for some time, taking just a few small steps that strayed from the leader to look around its corner before returning to her grandmother's side. She blinked slowly as she listened, a sign of understanding.
"...Nightshiver told me about this place."
She finally said, glancing back from Dawnstar to the ruins. Icestar was Miss Grandmama's mother. So Icestar was her... Great Grandmama. Sleepypaw's ear flickered at the thought, silent for some moments.

As she watched the structure, she couldn't help but wonder; did Miss Grandmama know who killed her mama? Nightshiver hadn't specified who did the deed. Sleepypaw wondered about it - eyes flicking towards Dawnstar, a part of her wanting to ask the question. But she didn't. Not quite. the words didn't leave her maw, not yet.
"Icestar."
She repeated to herself, almost in thought, recalling what she had been told about the past leader and this area. Perhaps rather unconsciously the apprentice lingered close to her grandmother, taking in the surrounding area, committing it and its history to memory. Maybe she could ask Miss Grandmama for the details Nightshiver hadn't given sometime.

Dawnstar's tail unconsciously moved to the brush Sleeypaw's ear after the younger cat drew closer. It was a new habit the older cat picked up, now she did it without a second thought. She flickers her ear and begins leading them away after hearing no questions.

It sounded like she was interested in Icestar, and Dawnstar debating and chatting about her. Few bring the former leader up and so Dawnstar rarely spoke of her. She was sure the same could be said of her once she passed, she'd just become another piece in history, a memory.

"I never told you how I became leader, did I?" She mused while walking, lips turned upright in a small smirk. "That will have to be a story for later. It's not a fun one." Dawnstar's expression briefly grew grim before the scents brought her back to reality.

The trees line thinned and the land immensely brightened, becoming flat, and filled with greenery. There was a single pine tree ahead, while the rest of the territory was barren of any tree. The leader spotted a family of bunnies grazing ahead. The thick, sweet scent of heather and wildflowers kept her paws from moving closer to the border. "This is the Whispering Wetlands. Our border with WindClan." She told the apprentice. "What do you know about WindClan?"

Sleepypaw shook her head, but there was an evident air of interest in her gaze - Nightshiver had covered the story of Dawnstar's ascension to power in a manner of speaking, and she believed Dawnstar had figured as much, still, the young apprentice was far more interested in hearing the story from Miss Grandmama herself, however gruesome it might be. History was not pretty, it seemed, but knowing of it was beyond important. "I would like that", she wished to say, but true to her nature, she words were left unspoken and only felt as she padded up to walk besides her grandmother, keeping up pace accordingly.

She watched, head turning and moving on occasion, as the land became open and flat, trees dissipating and a think sweet scent beginning to hover within the air. A border, it appeared; Sleepypaw took a step closer, taking in the thick scent, working to associate it with the various scent she smelled and the mingle that was the gathering, blinking slowly as she listened to Dawnstar's words. WindClan. Whispering Wetlands. She took a good look around, committing the area to memory; upon the question, she returned to Miss Grandmama's side, pondering her words.
"Their leader... Is Twilightstar,"
She began, recalling the small lilac molly at the gathering.
"...And they drove us out, once. They're... fast."
She continued, recalling the history lesson she had attended. She pondered further, a fleeting memory of a mention wherein Miss Grandmama had taken control of WindClan, though, she was uncertain. It was not included in the history lesson. They had covered Icestar's leadership, that day. She paused.
"..More?"
