Default Re: Shadowclan Medcat Apprentice Applications

songs.
what may come to mind once you hear that very word? happiness? sadness? the sound of birds chirping in the early morning?
or is it a grumpy apprentice that never seems to smile?

why, yes, he does have emotions, but chooses not to show them. they distract him from the work he is doing, and cause others to notice him as well.

he doesn’t want to be noticed.

who would ever want to? being noticed opens a doorway to ridicule. ridicule leads to humiliation. humiliation leads to sadness, and so on. he doesn’t want that.

meet songpaw.
he’s a small, brown tabby tom with molten amber eyes. his voice is of an irish tone, while his fur is short and body slender. pupils always narrowed, songpaw observes the clan from afar, albeit still at the age of six moons. well, nearly six moons.

the tabby had never felt urged to become the best warrior he could be, unlike the other felines in which he had spent time within the nursery with. now, you may think, why is his name songpaw if he doesn’t even fit any description of a song? well, let me tell you. songpaw’s mother, lilly, was a loner. she had always woken up in the earliest of mornings just to hear the birds all sing their songs around her, like a soothing blanket.

when song was only two moons, his father had come back from who-knows-where. the tom had wanted to take him, to raise him as his own; lilly could always have more kits, of course. but she did not want that. song had been her firstborn son- her only son- and she didn’t want to give that up, so she risked her life to save him.

thankfully, she had not been killed, but the father of song had become bored with the endless battle, finally giving up and fleeing. lilly then took song to shadowclan and raised him to the age of five moons before leaving. she did not dislike the clan, but it was not comfortable for her. at this very moment, she is escaping the territories in fear that she may want to have her child back. but he is in safe paws.

songpaw never noticed the medicine cat den, or what happens within it. then again, he had always remained inside the nursery besides stretching his legs. the tom is rather introverted, not enjoying the company of others. he may also become anxious and fidgety when too many people crowd around him at once. songpaw also tends to be short-tempered and agitated, often times snapping at those who don’t listen to him. he may be a kit, but he is not one for humor or disobedience. it is very rare to see songpaw truly happy instead of forcing a smile into his gaze.

although he desires to keep them hidden, songpaw fears quite a few things. for example, he fears the sight of someone’s death. even the thought sends a shudder down his spine.

he also does not comprehend the deal of ‘love.’ what is the point? he may ask, face contorted with disgust. what a curious thing, songpaw shall say afterwords, though discomfort will glimmer in his eyes.

when asked about starclan, songpaw will simply shrug. he neither hates nor worships them. in his logic, he will say to those who ask for an explanation that he is not a cat of religion, but one who will side with others when needed. unless starclan is proved to be real, he doesn’t believe in them. and if you ask him what he wants to be in the future, he will simply shrug and say, “i don’t know.”

songpaw.
if you came up to me and asked what may come to mind once i hear the word, i would not answer simply. my answer would neither contain happiness, sadness, nor anything other than one word.

and that word would be 'songs.'

Default Re: Shadowclan Medcat Apprentice Applications

Hiraeth
(n) A homesickness for a home you can’t return to, or that never was.

General Description

There is something so sweet and delicate about a kitten opening their eyes for the first time to look out at the world and sense color for the first time. To see things never seen before, and set their vision upon a thing that would forever be a part of them. Most kittens open their eyes to see the loving faces of their parents, or the curious stares of littermates. Some gaze up at a brilliant blue sky, a spectacular sunset, or a flood of rain cascading over rich soil and intense green leaves. And a few open their eyes to see things that would later haunt their dreams and bring fear and uncertainty to them for the rest of their days. In this small group of unfortunate kittens is little Hiraeth, named in her mother’s last dying breaths and left with her litter of siblings and father to face the world without a mother. She was born amidst a storm, her parents in the shelter of a fallen log. Her mother died during childbirth, Hiraeth being the only kitten to receive a name- the rest named by their father, who subsequently left them on the border of ShadowClan for a border patrol to find and bring home. Hiraeth is a somber and quiet kitten, hardly as relaxed and fun loving as her siblings. She protested profoundly at the idea of being renamed, and kept Hiraeth to be her prefix for as long as she could. Hiraeth had been the first in her litter to open her eyes, and had spent weeks watching her siblings stumble around blindly without opening their eyes. The moment her eyes opened was forever burned into her mind- the image of a molly wailing while lighting struck the ground in the background hard to forget. The kitten sports a full and healthy coat, a mottled brown and orange with patches of white here and there. The tortoiseshell kitten has a ochre green gaze, the color darkening near the pupil and brightening the further away it was. One of her paws is white, without any of the mottled black and orange pattern marring it, and there are a few more white patches on her chest, back, and ears.

Names
~These are possible suffixes I may give Hiraeth~

Hiraethkit > Hiraethpaw > Hiraethdream > Hiraethheart > Hiraethmint

Why the suffix of dream? I’m planning on having Hiraeth develop a strong bond with Daydream and request for the same suffix to keep the medicine cat’s legacy alive as long as possible, even when Daydream is still alive.

Heart would be for the genuine love and care that Hiraeth holds for ShadowClan despite all of the different cats and personalities within the Clan borders. She doesn’t hate anybody even if their opinions differentiate from hers, and she wants to be able to provide them all with the same level of care and help despite their differences.

Mint would be for her talent with herbal remedies and discovering a few new ones on the way.

Extras

>Hiraeth doesn’t focus on StarClan as much as the typical medicine cat, choosing to put her faith in physics remedies. She does take dreams seriously in terms of prophecy, but she doesn’t believe that StarClan is almighty and omnipotent and thus won’t put her faith in them when dealing with matters in the physical plane of existence. She understands Daydream’s strong dislike for StarClan and while she is certain it isn’t StarClan causing the nightmares, she won’t approach the subject until the time is right.

>Hiraeth is Aromantic Asexual, and doesn’t waste her time on thoughts of romance. While she did consider the possibility of raising kits, she decided that it would be too much hassle to try and be a good mother and mate and abandoned the idea a long time before she was even an apprentice. She admires the lifestyle of a Medicine Cat, as they’re, in her eyes, free from the need to find a mate or raise kits like many cats believe is their key to happiness.

>Sometime I plan on having Hiraeth go on a trip to find her father to figure out more about her mother and her ancestry.

>Hiraeth is not a cheerful cat. She’s very serious and quiet, although she does find joy in things that most cats would find silly.

Default Re: Shadowclan Medcat Apprentice Applications

Darkness, inky black that eats up the sun,
We cry out to you, please show us a star,
For if we see some light, we will not run,
We stay near the glow, we do not stray far.

Nightkit cautiously stepped out of the nursery, checking all around to make sure her mother wasn't going to call her out for staying past her strict bedtime. Through the darkness, she quickly walked through the camp until she reached a fairly secluded clearing. She liked to hide here when she felt things weren't going well for her, and the place certainly seemed to calm her nerves. While she sat there, staring at a tree, she pondered a few things.

Her mother had always wanted Nightkit to be a fierce warrior, one who would show no mercy to an opponent, but that wasn't a reality for the kit. When she was a young kit, barely able to walk out of the nursery, she had seen something that had forever scarred her.
What she had seen was a murder. Specifically, the murder of her sister. While the assailant had long been gone, her sister, Ashkit, was laying there, gasping for breath. Nightkit had quickly approached her bleeding sibling, and saw that Ashkit didn't have much time left. She cried and wailed, knowing that is she had gotten her mother or medicine cat to the scene, Ashkit would be dead by the time either of them arrived. She had stood there, crying and telling her sister it would be alright, that Ashkit was going to be okay.

Ashkit's last words were: "Please, Nightkit, don't let me die. Please."

Nightkit stood over her sister's body, weeping, wishing she could have done something, anything for her dying sister. When her mother had come back, she had assumed Nightkit had killed her sister out of jealousy. The only thing Nightkit could respond with was, "Momma..." And Nightkit sobbed for days, unable to get over her sister's death. As Nightkit sat in vigil by her sister, she vowed never to kill another cat, and to never become a warrior.
She had planned it all out, if her mother was going to make her become a warrior, she would run away and become a loner... she would live on her own without having to kill another cat. Her other option was to become a medicine cat, which was preferable to becoming a loner. Ever since her sister died, she had hated the fact that she couldn't do anything, couldn't administer any first-aid. Ever since then, she has tried her best to learn to use simple healing items, like cobwebs, so nothing like this would ever happen again.

Nightkit brought herself back to the present, and realized she was shaking, and tears ran down her face. She had to tell herself that she was 5 moons old now, not a newborn kit. The tears splashed onto the ground, forming a salty puddle below her. She quickly wiped them away and scolded herself for being so weak. She stood up and approached a stubby tree with plenty of bendy branches to sit in. She threw herself against the bark, digging her claws into the tree. C'mon, Nightkit. Just a little further. How can you become a loner if you can't even climb a tree? her mental voice said.

Nightkit couldn't get that voice out of her mind, and it had been there ever since her sister's death. Criticizing her, tearing her apart and eating away at her self-esteem. She tried to silence it, but it always came back in form of a biting remark making fun of her own abilities.

She continued to pull herself up, sweating on the pads of her tiny feet from the effort. She finally reached a branch with a suitable sitting area and sat herself down, curling her tail around the branch for security. What little light there was shined brightly on her grey spotted coat, though it mostly blended in with the darkness.

Sighing, and almost against her will, she looked up at the moon. She shivered uncontrollably, almost falling from the branch. Nightkit had always been afraid of the moon, how it shined brightly, sending a spotlight onto everyone in the darkness. It scrutinized her every move, and it saw everything. Her only relief was on a new moon, when the dreadful sphere sunk back into the darkness. Nightkit hated her name because she hated the night... because the moon almost always came out in the inky dark of night. Her own name reminded her of a phobia, one that affected her every night.

Nightkit's heart beat quickly in response to her fear, the fear that one day her sister would come to her from StarClan and punish her for the inability to save a dying kit.

You open up your arms, Caressing us
You say it will be fine, you hold us tight,
Giving us some light so we will not fuss,
You tell us the inky dark is alright.

Nightkit sat in the nursery, not wanting to go outside even though it was sunny and fairly mild. She sat indoors, not speaking because no one approached her. She stared at the frolicking kits in the den until a brown tabby leaped in front of her.

"Hey! You wanna play hide and seek?" the other kit shouted. Nightkit stared at the kit for a long time before giving an exasperated nod and picking herself up off the floor. She followed the slightly older kit outside and nodded as he quickly explained the rules, though she wasn't listening. It was her turn to find, apparently, for the other cat ran off to some unknown location and shouted for Nightkit to close her eyes. She shut her eyes, enjoying the warm sun while it was there.
She despised when it turned night, because it was when the moon came out. For that reason, she almost never traveled during the night unless it was an emergency. Unless she started to think about Ashkit again...

Nightkit stood up and her eyes darted around the camp. Seriously, Nightkit. You should've found him by now, her inner voice drawled. Nightkit violently shook her head and continued walking, peeking into dens and behind rocks in hopes of finding the other kit. While she hadn't really wanted to play the game in the first place, she wasn't about to give up. She picked up speed in her search, popping her head in and out of dens and running around camp. After a long while without success, she sat down and tried to think. She sorted out the places she had looked thoroughly and the places she had just glanced over. She began again, searching in the places she had not checked very well before. Finally, she found the other kit curled up next to his mother, sleeping. She sighed and sat down, exhausted from her search.

The other cat's mother looked at Nightkit and said, "hello, Dear. I'm assuming you've met my son?" The mother laughed and said, "he came back saying that you would never find him." Nightkit stared at the sleeping kit, and smiled slightly. She had long grown out of her impatience, learning that she had to act mature for others to treat her like a full-grown cat. "So, when do you start your training?" the mother continued.

"Oh. You see, I don't really want to be a warrior. I want to be a medicine cat," Nightkit said, not revealing her backup option: running away.

"Why?" the mother asked softly. Nightkit shrugged and turned away. She was embarrassed by her story, and didn't feel comfortable giving it away.

"I like herbs, I guess," Nightkit replied quickly.
She also felt that she shouldn't put her burden on others, and tried to carry her pain on her own. Sometimes it worked, but she always had that nagging voice in the back of her head. You can't do it. Who do you think you are? You're a killer, a born killer. You'd be no good as a medicine cat. Nightkit's eye twitched and she quietly walked away, hoping the mother wouldn't notice her distress.

You become bitter, you cover the moon
Pulling curtains over the stars, we fear you,
Telling us to fend for ourselves too soon,
Small children weep, we tell them you’re not true.
We make our own light, we do not cry,
But in the night, your resentment does try.

Default Re: Shadowclan Medcat Apprentice Applications

flash, flash, flash.
the taunts singe her tongue like ash.
her best friend gone, out of time
forced, by the world, to make the climb.
but it was her who truly suffered in the end.
her paws stained bloodred
his paws lying there, dead.
she made it there in a flash
he gnashed
he thrashed
and fell into death's firm grasp.
the flash had been framed
for the death of her best friend
and while she assured herself she wasn't to blame
she had lit the flame.

Here is the plot.

gray eyes.
stocky frame.
black pelt.
and her name?
flashpaw.
named for courage.
named for speed.
named for loyalty.
if only she'd been fast enough.

A small, average-sized, stocky black she-cat with gray eyes and gray tabby markings. Nearly all of the scars marking her body are from clumsy footing and/or stumbling in a daze. Flashpaw has a slightly lighter gray tail-tip, running down for a short amount of space before fading back into the base color.

her voice, once thoughtful and strategic
was now laced with hurt and sick
she's fighting for control of her memories
hoping they'll stay for the day
shaking off all of the pities
and wishing that they'd go away.

Before the slaughter, this feline wasn't exactly happy-go-lucky. In fact, she was more reserved, and strategic, thinking everything through before it came out of her mouth. She had a rare excited side, which only her best friend, who was mangled in an attack so badly he was barely recognizable, could bring out in her. Flashpaw's only goal was to one day make him as happy as he'd made her, and now she can never even attempt it. Her personality now is even more reserved than before, anxious, and sad.

she was injured the most in the murder
her mental health suffered the most.
flash's already labored breathing
was worsened by the lethal dose
of witnessing murder firsthand, the trauma
could not have been worse
for the poor cat.. she was cursed.

Flashpaw already had mild-strength asthma from birth, mostly stress-induced rather than exercise. Upon witnessing the death firsthand of her best friend, the killer unknown, she gained post traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.) as well. Now she has episodes where she is afraid of everything and everyone. By the time the episode is over, she has no idea what happened in between. During the moment, there is a good chance she'll have an asthma attack as well, adding to the moment of distress. These two factors make life hard for her, and she is on the edge of depression. Having more of a use in life can change this and maybe get her to laugh again, even.

when daydream entered this she-cat's life
she shut them out at first, out of spite
that they could help their clan easily, without setbacks
and and with flashpaw, boy, she's got no lack.
after a while, she started to warm up to them
she saw them a lot anyway, why not learn from
the things they did?
maybe she could have a use, the traumatic kid
and finally open up to another friend.

Upon meeting them, Flashpaw didn't think much of Daydream. She didn't think much of anything anymore, really. But after more than one trip to the medicine den per quarter-moon, she began to warm up a little to Daydream. Before beginning to like them, she had been angry at them for being able to help their Clan without breathing problems or random moments of time that they can't remember. After a while of regular visits, she put the feelings behind her and tried to hint that she'd like to become medicine cat apprentice. It was already a guarentee she'd never become a warrior, in her eyes; she'd just fail the assessment due to forgetting all the hunting and battle moves. She'd fall behind on everything.
With a new purpose in life, Flashpaw can now eat right, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep at night, which are all key factors in reducing P.T.S.D.
They helped her realize her entire life didn't have to be defined by the tragic accident that had occurred, and that she could get through it.

so there you have it.
a new look on life
flashpaw set out
to make things right.
she apologized to her once-friends,
made some new ones, even,
and when all that was done
she had a place in the world- a reason.

"I feel like humming is her way saying I'm listening instead of speaking because when she speaks her words may twist into the wrong words."

"When you hear the soft humming as she works, The smile she brings just by humming a small tone. You know who the name is. She carries the prefix of petal because they are fragile and easily wither away. However Petal, you won't wither away that easily will you? She's quiet and fragile. Your background character. Yet you can only stab a single petal alone so many times before it is completely torn apart. Petalpaw, oh, Petalpaw, you have a wish you won't reveal. Tell us your tale, your serecets, will you?"

[ Somewhat Background and Plot]

Petalpaw was born out of Shadowclan's territory. Despite being born of both two Shadowclan cats. Her parents were stern, yes because they wanted a all mighty perfect kit to bring the clan. However Starclan gifted them with a quiet and fragile kit.

When a moon later she was brought to the clan she was already sick. It was a light one but to the kit, deadly. Her parents were scolded. Petalpaw was the only one being in the litter which was a lie. She did have a brother, he was stronger than her but died out of no where. Their was no hints about him getting sick. Yet no one knew about him. Forgotten in the past while Petalpaw still tries to hold him close. The parents past on a lie that she was the only one and Petalpaw didn't dare deny it, fear of her parents. Even if they were stern and somewhat cold to her they still loved her.

Her past could be labelled `average`. Like most Petalpaw did dream of being a warrior. Yet it wasn't that ambitious. No, not at all. Why? Her reasoning was because `That's my only choice, isn't it?`. It was the most common choice, indeed. While Petalpaw had met Daydream when she was one moon old, due to being sick she never second thought about being a Medince cat.

Petalkit grew up being the small, fragile kit in her kithood. She had friends they were dearly close to her and never had a crush before. At a young age she caught on that she should have at least one. She didn't care, though. Petalkit heard about what was going on, the one thing that distracted her from everything was her brother. She was close to him. Very. Then her father died. Yes, it may be depressing for some but she was happy her brother wouldn't be alone anymore. That is when she came up with a wish. A wish that she would wish every time upon a star.

Petalkit grew to be what we know as Petalpaw. She was 6 moons old and just like she assumed would happen, she was a warrior apprentice. However she disliked it. In a way despised it. She was one of the smallest apprentices there and was struggling to keep up in training. Often having to cut it shorter than indented. Luckily her mentor was a patient one.

Petalpaw went out with a another apprentice but they met a tom . It would be the cliché thing for it to be her brother but it wasn't. Of course Petalpaw didn't know that. The tom looked exactly like him but the only thing he was; much older. She never took that in mind and one of the rare things she did was talk. Talk. Talk. Talk. The tom grew tired of it because he wasn't even here for Petalpaw yet the other apprentice. When he tried to take the apprentice, Petalpaw grew anxious and didn't have time to think so she fled. She had told him to stop but her words failed her. She learn to know that words were would fail her more than half of the time. So, Petalpaw spoke more and more with actions and expressions until humming was more her style. It was a way of listening and speaking. Luckily a week later the apprentice returned to the clan. Petalpaw suffered a bit for fleeing, the apprentice then disliked Petalpaw because she did. However she wouldn't blame her, the apprentice could have died.

After that she learned about the Medince cat rank, Petalpaw was confused why but she grew to love it more than what she was. Herbs didn't bite, taunt you, ask you questions. You didn't have to hurt other cats. She wasn't determined to get the rank, Petalpaw doubted it. She was doubtful. Yet it didn't stop her from picturing it. She didn't have to speak much, actually. She heard about Daydream and Truefully from the tales she was a bit frightened by them but wanted to see why she should. She disliked judging cats before she met them. Petalpaw was still hesitant though.

[ this is more like the plot part now, it's optional. ]

Now that Petalpaw is 7 moons old she started to go around the Medince cat den. Either passing it bye to sneak a peek. Curiosity always kills the cat. Petalpaw built up enough courage to try to speak to Daydream. Which meant sit at the entrance and watch while humming. The Medince cat would most likely start to get annoyed with having a apprentice watching their every move. So, they would speak to her. Petalpaw just stared at Daydream blankly, trying to sink down to the ground to be unnoticeable. The apprentice finally spoke and surprising she actually got to stay as long as she either stayed outside the den and watched or helped out. For once Petalpaw decided to help out. She would hum and put on a bright smile but she didn't speak so much to where Daydream got annoyed, not like Petalpaw wanted to speak anyway. She tone her humming down when Daydream got close because the apprentice was a bit frightened by their grumpiness until that Petalpaw grew closer with them. Training with her real mentor came less and less as she help out more and more in the Medince den. That was until her mother came in. She was pregnant with her second litter but it came too early. Both two kits would die in the birth. Leaving Petalpaw to be extremely horrified of what she witnessed. She was calm kind of. It was kind of hard to not. I mean, seeing her two siblings die. Her mother survived and Petalpaw was greatly thankful to Starclan and more or less Daydream. She trusted her more than anyone. She did save remotely her only parent and close family member. She became more talkative with her and replied to her actually but rarely talked on her own. Sooner or later Petalpaw would become Daydream's apprentice.

or...

Petalpaw did get enough courage to ask to help out. However her wish was never out of her mind. She would become distracted and then close herself off away from everyone. She would stop helping out and train for what she `had` to. Petalpaw became more distant. She would doze off and became a bit more well, empty. Until she was out in the territory and was attacked by a badger. The seven year old apprentice was badly wounded until a warrior out hunting brought her back to Daydream. Petalpaw would have scars but she wasn't permantly damaged. Daydream would confront her and Petalpaw would tell her, stuttering a lot Admitting how she disliked her rank, her lie, her brother. Yet not her wish. Petalpaw would soon bounce back and later become her apprentice.

While her wish is going to be a secret and will continue to be a distraction for her for either plots, if you even want to do one of the plots. Her wish will be reveal either with a plot or just when Petalpaw tells someone.

[ The Surface of Petalpaw ]

Name: Petalkit|Petalpaw|Petalwish, Petalfall, or Petalsong
Petal- the lie about being the only kit in her litter, her fragile appearance.
wish- one, it goes well and two, for Petal's wish.
fall- she was born in leaf-fall
song- her humming

Age: 7 moons
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Sexuality: Asexual and Aromantic
Sign: Libra [ born on August 27 ]
Bloodline: 63% Shadowclan and 47% Loner
Birthplace: the Outskirts

[ Let's See The Inside ]

The molly is quiet, indeed. It isn't actually shy even if she does prefer to be in the background. She is quiet because she learned that the more you talk the more you can mess up. Petalpaw hums because it is more comforting than words. Sometimes if you are careful to hear the tone you can make out the words. Which is one of the reasons if you are close she doesn't have to actually use words. She will mostly use expressions and actions. Petalpaw is surprisingly calm. She doesn't freak out like most and will put on a blank expression to hide her emotions most of the time. Now the twist is that you would think someone who is fragile wouldn't be able to hold their ground but the twist is she can. One thing about Petalpaw is that words don't affect her. You can call her names and she'll shrug it off. In a way they will soon just back off. She is very aware of everything, she can learn things but she is creative. Petalpaw doesn't tell stories but her movements do. She likes to act out stories. She isn't a mute because she does speak. Just not much. Petalpaw is protective. Even if most will seem that you should protect her instead but she likes being the one to protect. When she cares about someone she will struggle but she'll be right beside you when you need someone. Her flaws is that the molly gives up too easily and can be easily scared. She doubts herself and when she does she mostly will fail. She doesn't have any talents and her humming is only good because she been doing it since anyone can remember. Petalpaw can catch on quick to things. She is your typical clumsy cat due to her large paws. She can be annoying to tell what how she feels and that one thing: Petalpaw doesn't tell. She barely ever talks about her self and if she does it is in little detail. She tends to hide her emotions until they burst. While being calm and all, Petalpaw is lazy sometimes. The she-cat can barely hurt a fly, she despises fighting and is naturally horrible at it. Hunting is meh. Which is one of the reasons why she doesn't want to be a warrior, but also caring for her clan. Since she always thought she was forced to be a warrior, Petalpaw knew it wasn't the right choice and believes being a Medince cat is. The apprentice is rather a introvert, she usually likes close friends instead of lots of friends. She dislikes crowds, naturally. She is one of the cats you could see in the background doing something but the story doesn't focus on her. Petalpaw doesn't need lots of attention. When she cares about someone she will do her best to keep them close, rather clingy sometimes. The she-cat moods vary.

[ The Outside ]

Ref| Ref | Ref

Petalpaw is smaller than average, having a fragile build. Her paws white, while her pads are a pink color. She has a pink nose and bright green eyes. Her face/head is black while her body seems to be a darker brown but blends well. Her back seems to have a black stripe going down it but it seems to fade into the brown the farther it goes down. Petalpaw has a scar just a bit above her nose from the loner when she was 6 moons old. She is a bit fluffier, not being a short-hair. However she isn't a long-hair either.

[ Extra Things And Such ]

What Would Her Releaship with Daydream be?: I can't say how Daydream would like Petalpaw but Petalpaw would most likely see them as a sibling figure. She would consider them fairly close. The apprentice would trust them a lot and would be able to handle their personality well. Petalpaw may disagree a bit with Daydream sometimes, she didn't always say it but her expression would give it away. She may tell Daydream what she thinks if they are in a good mood. Rather than kicking her down if she isn't. Plus Petalpaw would rather keep her ears. She would probably talk with words more often so they could understand her, maybe Daydream could help Petalpaw's disfluency. I think their personalities would go well with each other since Daydream is rather snappy, Petalpaw would be able to handle that and not actually pick much fights with them.
Why should Petalpaw be a Medince cat apprentice?: She is patient and fairly calm, while she has a decent memory. However she could easily get sick in Leaf-Bare. Petalpaw could get creative with the herbs but she probably would be a bit doubtful when she had to treat a patient alone.
Does She Believe in Starclan?: Yes, Petalpaw does. She doesn't worship them or anything. She does knows that dead cats have to go somewhere so they must just go to Starclan. She wishes they didn't speak in riddles all the time, however.
Her Thoughts On Love?: Petalpaw doesn't love anyone romantically. She never has. Yet if you ask her who does she love and she'll reply with, "The Whole Clan, of course. Their like my family!" If she does reply. She means it non-romantically. She does believe that love exist but that she can't love anyone romantically.
Other: Petalpaw has dysfluency but it will get better as she grows older, then start go down hill again [ most likely ]
PDD: 5.96 [ right now, may be different on the choosing date. I am on everyday, though ]

with a soft smile
she begins to fall in despair
when someone was lost dear to her
her fragile heart rides in the storm
the only thing you can hear is her song
wishing for someone to sing with her
someone to share her woes
a dream that has yet to be captured
a fear that has yet to be countered
will you join my journey?
will you sing with me?

Default Re: Shadowclan Medcat Apprentice Applications

"Nettlepaw froze, her nose turned up. The scent of marigold washed over her and she turned her head, looking for the source of the scent. She purred as her eyes landed on the golden flowers and she trotted over to them, plucking them. Her eyes shone as she thought about what Daydream would say. Even though she was a warrior apprentice, she always helped out the medicine cat in any way she could. Not that Daydream ever knew. Nettlepaw always kept her help a secret, leaving the herbs where Daydream could find them, but never coming forward. She was too much of a mouse-heart to come forward." (example of my roleplaying)

Nettlepaw is training to be a warrior at the moment, but has always wanted to be a medicine cat. She's a sweet cat with thick, short, silver fur, small paws, a silky plume of a tail, and green eyes. She's relatively small for her age, but she is stronger than a few older apprentices. She suffers from night terrors too, but deals with them in a healthy way; she often talks to her mother or her sister, Freezepaw, about them. She's only lashed out once in her life, but she apologized profusely for it and the cat she lashed out at still likes her. She has a good head on her shoulders and knows that she can't have kits if she becomes a medicine cat. Nettlepaw idolizes Daydream and hopes that since she too has nightmares, she can help them deal. She believes in StarClan, but she doesn't tell any cat in the hopes that Daydream will like her more. She'll do anything to become Daydream's apprentice and hopes she'll get chosen, but she won't be particularly heartbroken about it if she doesn't.
She likes to make sure everyone in the Clan is taken care of and she'll try her hardest to get Daydream to eat something at least once a day. She doesn't want to be too pushy with the sleeping thing, as she understands to a certain extent.

Not only that, but Nettlepaw is extremely sensitive when it comes to her sexuality. She is a homosexual, but hates it when somebody makes fun of her about it. She has very low self-esteem sometimes, but will do anything she can to stop hating herself.

I hope this is good!

Brindlepaw/Brindlemist
18 Moons
Cis-Female
Ace/Aro
New Warrior / Former Loner
---
Brindle is a young molly who has always had an affinity for going beyond her limits. She was the daughter of two parents who wandered alone, without any affiliation. Her parents never told her much about their past, and little does she know her father's mother was also a ShadowClan warrior by the name of Embergaze. Embergaze had a relationship with a loner, and when the kits were birthed, she never wanted her Clan to find out and ran away for a few moons, eventually handing the kits over to her mate. She went back to her Clan with absurd claims of how she had been taken hostage by a fox, and she stayed in ShadowClan, alone, until she died of Greencough. Brindle's father survived, being raised by the rogue, and the other kit died. Brindle does not know Embergaze's name, nor did her father ever speak of any Clans. When she was 10 moons old her mother was captured and taken as a kittypet by the humans, and her father just disappeared into the night soon after. Brindle spent her time alone in the forest as a young molly, just trying to survive and get through the day without being starved or attacked. Enclosed in solitude, she spent most her time with the flowers and trees and stems, playing with them, eating some, and even talking with them when she got extremely bored. She grew an aptitude, for these plants were the only things she ever interacted with. She was a nomad, journeying from place to place barely escaping the claws of death. Eventually she crossed the border of ShadowClan at the age of 13 moons, and refusing to let the longer go free, she became one in their ranks. She was raised and trained for 5 moons, and finally was accepted as a full warrior. Her affinity for plants never died away, though, and warriors often get annoyed being on a patrol with her for she is always wandering off or talking to herself.
---
Kind | Quiet | Grateful | Respectful | Intelligent
Brindle is a relatively quiet cat, only talking when she needs to because she is not very skilled in having conversations with others who actually speak in return. Usually when reprimanded she will stay quiet and rather sullen for a while, since when older cats talk to her she gets scared very easily. She is always willing to help others and harbors a great deal of gratitude towards her adoptive Clan. She loves seeing the happiness of others and tries to promote that within her Clan, even though ShadowClan has quite a "dark" reputation she hopes that someday they can overcome that and be appreciated just like all the other Clans. She is respectful of Daydream and understands that not every cat is filled with sunshine, and sometimes it just takes a little longer to be uncovered in some cats than others.

Detached | Fidgety | Indecisive
Brindle has a darker side to her, but she hasn't experienced much of life so most of it relates to her not knowing how to interact with other Clan members. She is often found spacing out and rather detached from society, and finds herself having a hard time answering simple questions like "How are you?" and "Are you feeling alright?". She doesn't understand much about herself and her own feelings and finds comfort in solitude, or in company of those who she really trusts. Due to lack of communication she often finds herself with a built-up amount of energy and may snap with words or fidget with whatever is nearby, making her even further disconnected from other cats her age. She has a hard time making decisions and often seeks the advice of those around her or anyone she believes can lead her to the right conclusion.
---
Ref | Ref

Brindle is a pale brown molly with darker black stripes across her entire body and face, with tints of white on her muzzle and chest. She has white paws and has relatively long fur, with pointed ears and a long tail. Her pawpads and nose as a light red color, and from her time spent as a rogue she has a scar on her left leg, although it's not very visible underneath all her fur and doesn't hinder her in many ways.
---
Some extra questions~

How would she react to Daydream?: Since Brindle has just been introduced to cats of all types in ShadowClan, she has had to learn very quickly that everyone is different and everyone will have varying personalities. Since her father abandoned her in a way, as long as a cat is not straight-out cruel she is probably able to ignore their dourness and see the good in them, which is what she does with Daydream. As long as she is accepted for who she is, she will accept anyone else for who they are, too.
Does she believe in StarClan?: StarClan is a new concept to Brindle, so she doesn't exactly know whether she believes it or not. But since she used to have nothing, no beliefs, the thought that there are starry cats above her and helping her through her journey is most certainly a concept that comforts her, and she would have no problem looking up to them for guidance if she is unable to provide her own - it's better than nothing, if they actually exist.
Opinions on love?: Brindle does not really understand love and relationships, and she doesn't know if she believes that love exists at all. She never saw much love within her parents for they left and didn't showcase much of their relationship, and just acted as distant friends who had to share custody of a kit. Being alone, her parents didn't quite understand love, either. When Brindle sees relationships within the Clan, they give her hope, but there's always a nagging voice in the back of her mind that makes her speak against it, about how soon enough it will fall apart anyways.

Good luck to everyone who's entering!

PHILOPHOBIA
noun
fear of emotional attachment;
fear of being in, or falling in love

“I don’t really want to tell you my life story, I just want to cuddle.”

--

Curlflower has been around for a while, she's just about 50 moons old.
She's got a white and brown tabby pelt and eyes that glow of gold.
She's been both warrior and queen, hunter and mother.
Not many know her story, she never tells, she's not much of a lover.

She tends to have an obsession.
Regarding physical attention.
She likes to get close and touch.
But emotions are way too much.

Sadness makes her squirmish.
Hate can make her nervous.
'Love' makes her feel sick.
She swear's she's not a lunatic.

She believes only what she can see.
She only sees lights when she sits in trees.
She can only blame herself for bad things.
So she said goodbye to her feelings.

She refuses to kill her own prey.
Though she eats it every day.
She loves keeping quiet.
She tends to live by it.

In the day she sits to watch and observe.
That's the way since her life took a swerve.
When speaking she stays at small talk.
keeping her heart away with a lock.

She tends to learn slowly

Testing, testing, one two three. Is this on? Yeah, okay.

Hello, Daydream! I was going to sing you a song, but I didn't think you'd like it. So, i didn't sing it to you, odiously. My name is Brightkit I'm a unborn white molly with ginger tabby patches{Ref}. I get my name for my bright personality and ginger fur. Others say I'm a loquacious kit but I don't know what that means, so I just go along with it. Do you know what it means? You probably do, I headed your smart and you are the Clan medicine cat. Oh! That reminds me of why I'm here! I came here to apply to be your medicine cat apprentice! That'd be what its called right? I think so. Anywho, I'm a very bright playful kit who can't consenstrat on anything I don't want to for to long. Well sometimes it's hard to even if I want to. Some say I have ADHD, is that possible? What even is it? Oh yeah, I'm quiet curious and I love to help the Elders and my Mum. That's why I wanna be a medicine cat, so I can heal the Clan. Yeah, yeah I know there's more to being a Medicine cat then just healing your Clanmates and there's a code and all but I still want to. And I know, you can have a mate or kits everyone knows that. To be honest I don't want one! Who would? Another tom or molly to love you all your life, bleh, who wants that?! I know I don't! Uh anyway, that's another reason I want to be a Medicine cat, no one will try and get you to be there mate or have there kits. For StarClan sake they needed to learn to control there emotions. Changing subject, back there I mentioned that I'm curious and all that but I do know when to stop asking questions and just be, well, silent. Some think I don't but, really that's only when I'm mad at them and know that it'll bug em. Witch is kinda fun. I mean who doesn't like to see a cat get mad and annoyed but not want to yell? Its so funny. Did I mention I'm a bit sarcastic at times and I love to annoying or pick on people? No? Well I do, and I'm not afraid to say so. Anyway, Daydream? I know you don't like StarClan but I think their cool. Even if they can be Foxhearts and I do tend to get mad at them. They walk in the sky! Like they have wings or something! Anyway I think that's it! I hope you liked my application.

See ya, Woly poly!
(Since my Buttercupbreeze has been chosen as Deputy I will not be applying for Medicine cat apprentice. But good luck to everyone here!)

"Clutz. To use a word to describe myself, I'd use clutz."

Ebonystripe is a young Shadowclan warrior who is barely 13 moons old. He doesn't really feel comfortable with romantic relationships with others and is a bit of a clutz. He always brings back prey that looks like it had been buried all day since he drops it a lot.

"Or perhaps it is just lame. I have heard cats say that. "

Ebonystripe is a pitch black tom with yellow eyes and a light-grey, almost white stripe on his spine. He is named after his fur. Ebony- for his black pelt. Stripe- for the singular stripe on his back. His eyes seem to know more than Ebony lets on to others, and show his emotions vividly.

"Or should I use odd? I mean, I look very different than your normal cat..."

Ebony is a bit of a clutz, seeming to trip on nothing and drop anything he is carrying, more than once. He can't keep his paws on the ground properly while fighting or hunting, causing him to mostly fall on his face or shoulders. He loves helping others and would do anything for his clanmates. He even vouches to do more difficult tasks, even though he knows he'll be a clutz. He cares a lot about the well-being of any cat and will help even if they aren't from Shadowclan. Though shadowclan is his first priority. He isn't really brave and shakes when he gets scared or nervous. He loves talking unless it is about something he is uncomfortable with. He is interested in learning everything he can about everything and asks a lot of annoying questions. Which can make him a nuisance.

"Or maybe nuisance? That is how everyone sees me anyway."

Appearance A and Appearance B.

"Maybe overly-helpful? I try to help too much and get embarrassed for it."

His parents' are strong believers in starclan, and tried to pass that on to him. He believes they are there, but only to watch and participate in ceremonies. He thinks of them like elders, watching everyone like they are a hopeless kit. He doesn't believe in the Dark forest, thinking they are too scary to even be real.

"Or maybe even, scared. I shake when I get nervous, or even frightened by the smallest sound."

Ebonystripe is odd, a clutz, overly-helpful, a bit of a nuisance, and a scaredy-cat(no pun intended). He tries his hardest to be a warrior and fails at it every time. He is replaced with different cats when he is assigned to hunting patrols,
and battle training. They send him on border patrols, just to try and help Ebony feel normal.
