Lightpaw beamed with pride again as Cleftpaw praised him, but then flinched again as he hooked his paw and inspected it.

Lightpaw smiled and purred,"Well, we should definately be able to go back to camp now," he nodded at the heap of prey they caught, but then he frowned,"I can't go to see Shinefang!" he shook his head worriedly,"What if somebody comes and asks why I'm going to see the medicine cat? And I have to show them a puny squirrel bite!?" he flattened his ears to his head,"What will they think!? What if they laugh...?" he turned his head away from his brother. He didn't want Cleftpaw to see the terror that might be in his eyes.

Cleftpaw didn't look up from his brother's injury. "You have to go see Shinefang," he meowed, matter-of-factly. He was trying in vain to push away all of the panicked thoughts that crept into his mind. Each thought pulled the knot forming in his throat a little tighter. He tried not to let his voice tremble. "It could get infected, Lightpaw! What if you lose your paw to the infection?" What if I lose you to the infection? He didn't dare say it aloud. "I've heard of cats who weren't able to eat because of a thorn pick! A thorn pick, Lightpaw." His breath came in fast, ragged gulps as he tried to calm himself. He thought of the cats who laughed at his brother and stilled his nerves. "And if they laugh at you, I'll bite their paw. See how they like it."

Lightpaw shuffled nervously and stood up, testing his paw. He flinched again as it stung. He sighed and nodded reluctantly,"I-I guess..." then he laughed at the last thing Cleftpaw said.

He nodded to the prey and grinned, purring,"But first I gat to relish in the fact that I caught a squirrel and a rabbit when we get to camp," he said, lifting his tail proudly.

He turned around and opened his jaws quickly, trying to find where the strongest cat-scent was coming from and flicked his tail in its direction,"Come on, camp's this way!"

Coming out to the territory had always been calming for Blazingcomet. It helped him think about things, and it helped clear his head. Sighing, he settled down in a more sheltered area before looking around. Petal was supposed to meet him out here shortly… he was looking forward to seeing the kittypet again. Since cutting things off with Drizzleshard, Blazingcomet had been depressed, and Petal had been a welcome flirt in his life. Yet, the orange tom did have some sort of feelings for her. She was different then he had thought a kittypet should be. And the fact that it was forbidden only seemed to make those feelings grow, a type of lust rather than love, but Blazingcomet was never going to know that. He believed that he was in love. With Petal this time. Too soon to say? Nah. I waited too long with Drizzleshard, that was our problem. I think that was definitely what happened. The shorter amount of time between developing feelings and admitting them, the better, at least for Blazingcomet. He guessed it would keep the she cat from trying too hard.

Petal was sitting anxiously at their meeting spot. She didn't like being here alone in case she ever got caught by another warrior. So while she was sitting and waiting, she was shuffling her paws around, her big green hues were scanning the area around her constantly. She didn't get how Blazingcomet could smell her coming, but she couldn't smell him until he was in sight. Perhaps that was all apart of the training process he spoke about before. Maybe she should invest some time into training? Maybe she would appear more worthy to him? What if she just asked to join his clan? How would the tom handle that? It was a bad idea, she wouldn't ask. Petal should just remain a kittypet, it would be better that way, wouldn't it? Oh how these meetings with Blazingcomet made her anxious but excited all at once!

Lightpaw purred again and then he picked up the squirrel and slung it onto his back, trying to balance it. After it was comfortably lying across his back he grabbed the rabbit in his mouth and started slowly dragging his haul back to camp.

After a few seconds he tripped over that rabbit and had to place the squirrel back onto his back and then grab the rabbit once more. His glazed eyes lit up with determination as he started again towards the SkyClan camp.

Cleftpaw finally spotted the tree his mouse was buried beneath. The dark tabby bounded through the light snow toward it and dug under the roots. He found the brown fur and carefully lifted the mouse out, sure not to puncture the animal.

"I'm right behind you, Lightpaw!" He meowed, lifting the mouse by its tail and grabbing the bird. He leapt to catch up to his brother and padded beside him back to camp.

Everything was scary from down here. The grass seemed taller than him, the trees were massive. The kit looked up and saw birds flying overhead. He didn't know if they would want to eat him, or peck his eyes out. Besides, that's what his brother had said. Birds were mean and they would peck his eyes out. Duffle let a small mewl escape his mouth, hoping that his mother would hear his cry and come back for him, but it was no use. His mother had left him here because she had known what her owners would have done with her kit. Duffle shifted uncomfortably in the grass and dirt. He looked around and saw a cat coming. She didn't look like his mother, but maybe she could help? As the molly came towards him he perked up a little. He flicked his ears up and tried to give an excited smile. "M-my Mommy did. She said I couldn't stay." He responded to the warrior. He thought for a moment as he was pulled to her side. His mother had told him what to say. "My mommy said I have to go to the wild cats because the Twolegs would get rid of me for my...specialness." He said, quoting what his mother had instructed him to say.

Tinyfawn sniffed the kit over, evaluating and analyzing his health and well-being. The she-cat sighed a relief when she couldn't distinguish anything health-wise wrong with him. She grabbed him by the scruff and lifted him out of the little hole. Setting him down, the she-cat realized his was kind of lopsided. Flicking her ears in confusion the she-cat nosed him a bit and saw the problem the two-legs would have had with him. "Oh goodnes, you poor thing." She frowned hearing that his mother left him to be found. "Well my darling, I do not believe your mother will be returning..." She frowned sadly, a genuine look of sadness washed over her. "And I will certainly not leave you here all by yourself. It is way to cold for you to be out here alone." She mewed in a concerned tone. The temperatures had started to rise in the passing days but today, it had dropped back down. The ground hard with never ending frost. The little kit in front of her wouldn't be able to keep himself warm at all and he'd end up freezing to death!

The SkyClan warrior licked the kit on the head gently. "I'm going to take you where I live. It's quite beautiful, you'll see. I'll take care of you. I will do my very best to be a good mother, since your mother has entrusted the clan cats to take care of you." She exclaimed softly to the little curly haired kit. "When you get older, we will find your mother together, reconnect when the time is right. For now, little one, you will live in SkyClan. It will be up to you later on in life, if you feel it to be your true home." She mewed and nuzzled the kits cheek with her nose, cold and dry. "Are you ready?" She didn't want to force the kit but if he put up a struggle, she would snatch him up and take him straight to camp. The feline had long legs and she ran a good pace. They'd be back to camp in no time and he wouldn't be able to argue. The she-cat placed her fluffy tail over the little kit providing him with some warmth as she waited his response.

Cleftpaw padded back to camp with his brother in a comfortable silence. He didn't try to talk because his mouth was full of prey and he was sure Lightpaw had the same reason.

Lightpaw could smell the camp in the distance. The scent of tons of cats mingling together in one place. Lightpaw bet that there was even more cats at the gathering. He just wished he could experience it.
