cold as it was, their warmth burned through her. the young tare had never felt anything like this, through no fault of her own; love like this wasn't easy to find. not by a long shot. desparately pushing further against her, hungry for more-- hungry for anything, really. though they were both complete wrecks, jupiter wouldn't have had it any other way. they were together, now.
yearning had made her into another molly: she was quieter, softer, more.. appreciative of what she had. now, more than ever. she'd made the same mistakes as before, no doubt, but for a moment, that didn't matter.

only saturn did. she dragged her tongue along the burlier molly's cheek, quietly.
she purred as a familiar tongue was drawn across her cheek, burrying her face in jupiters neck fur, inhaling the scent she had been chasing for moons. every pawstep she had taken, every life she had crushed with her paws, every minute she had starved, was worth this moment. she didnt know exsactly what to say, there seemed to be no real need to express what they were feeling vocally. they knew it already.

even if she had only met her not too long ago, saturn was attached, and with everything that had been going on only amplified that emotion. she pulled away, giving the first smile that she had made in moons.

"Can i have another kiss? just for good measure."
a line that she had spoken along time ago.

@king kaleb!

it had been many moons, and she still called this hallowed place her home.

she’d found saturn in the time of deepest doubt, while she was cold, hungry, alone. death after death in front of her had left the molly's eyes hardened and cold, her heart inhospitable as the planet she was named for. jupiter had doubted her own ability to love, to be loved, but as soon as she saw the brown she-cat race into her view, jupi had thawed within moments.

it hadn't been long since that time, and somehow she felt fuller than she did while her ancestral home was intact. jupiter had realised something crucial-- she didn't need the dusk syndicate, she had no want for its neatly arranged patrols, or its foolish politics. in light of the sights, the smells and the simple experience of living , it all seemed futile. all she needed was her mate, her sky and stars.

stalking into their lightly forested hollow, the dun-brown loner raised her head, eyes naturally searching the perimeter. her padded paws sent a resounding crunch as she made her way home; if anyone heard her, so be it. jupiter may have denounced her faction, but she certainly hadn't forgotten its lessons. early newleaf brought a chill, leaffall’s last phantom cries ringing out in the outskirts. jupi shivered for a moment, but quietly moved on, her wide gait carrying her quickly across the marked territory. saturn's scent, stale as it was, permeated the hollow in a reminder of their union. a quirk of her lips told her all she needed to know about that.

jupiter strained her ears forwards, muzzle empty of prey, but already filled with loving words and anticipation for whatever it was that the darker molly would have to say. she could already tell that her love was here, somewhere in the undergrowth-- perhaps in that fern over there, or lazing behind her favourite rock. awfully reminiscent of their last meeting, she called, “saturn!” and stopped in her tracks, excited for the greeting that she would surely get.

saturn hadnt felt this alive in moons.

before she had reunited with jupiter everything seemed grey. the snow would fall to the ground and seem like nothing marvelous, holding nothing but bitter cold. the moon would orbit around them and she would only find the shine blinding and a nuisance. the taste of prey in her mouth felt like a waste, because, what was the point if you didnt want to eat it and provide for yourself; or live, for that matter. but now things were different. things seemed to have so much color. snowflakes held special meaning now, they reminded saturn of the time her and jupiter had huddled close together in their shared den for warmth, warmth seeping into eachother. the moon reminded her of the planets and the stars, reminded her that there was so much more then what she had been giving life credit for. living, eating, breathing feels so much fuller with her planet at her side.

she felt alive again.

hearing her voice call her name again felt so foreign yet so humbly familiar at the same time. it reminded her of the old times in the Syndicate, and also reminded her for how long they were apart. but every planet moves, every planet has their own orbit and direction they were meant to take, and saturn was sure that she was meant to be aligned with jupiter. her ears perked, a smile came to her face again, and she was filled with excitement. paws danced across the snow covered ground as she followed her lovers call. "Right here, love!" she called after her, eventually coming back into sight. she had gotten a bit to excited when they decided to explore more of the forest they surrounded themselves in, finding all of the new scents enticing.

“my love,” jupiter breathed, bright-eyed, setting towards the molly she called her mate, her lover, her life. it was clear that the space they dwelled in was their domain entirely, clawmarks and berry-stains littering trees that they’d chosen as miniature borders, or had just mucked up because it felt as if they were making their own world. the forest was filled with colour— the rich, sable browns of their pelts mixing, swirling, their amber-and-ochre eyes blending into a resin-coloured pulp, gold as the sap that leaked from the great oaks that jupiter had grown so accustomed to sharpening her claws on.

a wind pushed her back ever so slightly as she treaded over grass and logs alike, but nothing could stop her. jupiter would storm out of orbit a thousand times to make her way to saturn, if needed. this was more than being alive: was this what ascension felt like? many a cold winter’s night had been spent in the fighter’s den, speculating on whatever afterlives that the so-called forest savages had believed in, and jupi had even scoffed at the thought of it, but living like this had made her see why they believed in starclan. maybe this was starclan, crafted for this diaspora of theirs. whatever she believed, it didn’t matter; only she mattered.

even now.

finally arriving at saturn’s side— her place, it was her god-given right to stand there, she swore it— the slim molly purred thickly, tail raising like a flagpole, pressing her nose to the other she-cat’s shoulder in a an unmistakable greeting.
