Closed How long can a wild cat live for?

I know that typically wild cats only live about 2-3 years in real life but it's lengthened for roleplay purposes. What would be the age cutoff for an elder cat without help from Twolegs and medicine cats? How long could my elder theoretically live before a staff member would step in and say they are far too old to be alive?

I need to know for a future character I plan on making that is going to live for as long as possible with self-taught knowledge of medicine~

I'd say for ferals, you can see up to 10 years and this is coming from someone in the vet field. Take into consideration the way our OCs live though. If they avoid fights, avoid letting themselves starve or run to the med den for illness every time, you can see that older age. Most of ours don't do that though so you'll see younger deaths.

The average is about 5-8 years on site and 2-4 irl before I see ferals with problems in clinic.

It's very lax here for roleplay purposes. For example, currently to become an elder in RiverClan due to old age your character has to be 120 moons, otherwise they have to have some sort of condition that prevents them from being a warrior!

As long as your character isn't living to like... 200 you should be fine. @Woodlow

Thank you both for replying! My character is a laid-back loner that strays close to two-leggers for free food so I plan on having him live a pretty long time. His medicinal knowledge is mainly to help other cats more than himself. Based on this info I think 180 or less (15 years) would be long enough for him~

That should be perfectly fine! Just keep in mind that herb knowledge that isn't cobwebs and sticks has to either be roleplayed out or gained through the Herbal Knowledge purrk @Woodlow
