lion rested ontop of him, unafraid to show his affection in the privacy of the border. after the battle, he was scared. not for his clan, not for his friends, but for his mate. he pressed soft licks to his lovers face, contrasting in his usual rough and loud personality. soft, loud purrs erupted from his chest, orange hues against hazel. he smiled,¨i missed you. are you alright? you didnt get hurt right?¨ thought swirled through his head during the battle, gushing out all at once at the very sight of the tom.

@Suspiciousmindz

Storm clouds rolled over the gray sky, blotting out the weak leaf-fall sunlight. The scent of rain lay heavy on the passing breeze that ruffled the treetops. Tiny paws scuttled across the ground below as a family of mice scrambled to find shelter. Across the moorland that led up to the line of trees raced the light brown figure of Heatherfur. Her whiskers pinned against her cheeks, tail streaming out behind her, she shot across the rolling hills, her eyes locked on the darting hare in front of her.

With each forepaw slamming against the ground, the Heatherfur gained on the hare, eyes narrowing in focus as she closed in. The hare darted once more to the right, but the feline was prepared. She lept to the side, cutting off its escape route with an extended claw, and without much hesitation struck it across the head. Stunned, the hare slid across the grassy plain, the blow to the head killing it almost instantaneously. "Yes!" the she-cat cried, quickly padding over to her kill and gazing down at it proudly. She sent a silent thought of gratitude up towards StarClan, for this had been the biggest hare she'd seen since Greenleaf had passed.

It didn't take her long until the WindClan warrior was gazing around once more, jaws parted to taste the incoming air. Her first kill buried, Heatherfur figured it wouldn't hurt to bring one more addition back to camp. After all, WindClan would need all the nutrition it could get with how high tensions had been lately.

The mere thought of the brewing battle between WindClan and ThunderClan was enough to send shudders down Heatherfur's spine. She was a skilled fighter, there was no doubt, but she feared who she might be put face to face with when the battle came. A look of longing crossed the feline's face as her gaze came into contact with the lush forest that expanded ahead of her. ThunderClan... she thought, the pungent smell of WindClan's neighbors ever present around her. Normally, she would be repulsed by it, however the rival Clan was home to someone quite dear to her, someone she missed. "Mintberry, where are you?" she echoed, murmuring the four words under her breath to herself. Her sister had left moons ago, but the ache still felt fresh each time she passed the border they now shared.

@Mauve

A lithe black and white she-cat made her way easily through the dying undergrowth. With the seasons changing fairly quickly, the plants in the forest were slowly withering away. It was prime time for Thunderclan prey, they were the easiest to spot right now, plump from green-leaf too. Her senses were on high alert at that moment, her pale green hues dancing around to pick out prey. Sure, there was a bird here and a bird there, sparrows and robins, but she was looking for rodents. She didn't want to bother with birds right now, as they make a feathery mess during the kill. A mouthful of feathers wasn't what she was wanting in that moment. Besides, who actually liked bird? They were more bone and feathers than meat!

Then it caught her attention. Her optics narrowed in on a vole as her body came to a halt. No more movement, just a waiting game for this vole to drop it's guard. Mintberry was already low to the ground, her ears flat in the perfect crouch Thunderclan was known for. Her paw steps were light and her fur didn't touch anything around her as she didn't want to make the slightest noise to scare this prime meal away. Slowly, she moved, pausing when the vole paused and moving when it moved. Now! She feline shot forward, her paws hardly skimming the ground as she moved with such ease through the brush. Claws and teeth met fur and a squeal exited the rodents body before abruptly being cut off. Success!

Prey buried now, the she-cat composed herself and began to figure out where she was. Sometimes, she was so in the zone of hunting that she lost track of where she was, so her mouth parted to allow air to hit her scent glands. Each scent she tasted was a quick reminder of where she was. She let out a huff and whipped her tail twice. Windclan. Her pale green gaze looked across the border to the open space. Now, Mintberry couldn't say she didn't miss the open skies and the ability to really stretch her legs, but she refused to go back. Never again. The closest the she-cat got was a tail-length from the border. Her gaze becoming reminiscent as she gazed into the moors.

As the wind buffeted her long fur, causing it to fluffy up in defense, Heatherfur let a soft sigh slip from her lips as she turned to head back. There was no use in lingering by the ThunderClan border in the off chance a patrol should come by and get their hackles raised by a single WindClan warrior. Despite her not being that threatening by herself, ThunderClanners held pride for their Clan extremely high, and she wasn't about to unbalance the already high tension. Besides, the chances of Mintberry actually coming this close to the former home she now despised were slim to none.

The brown and beige she-cat had taken a few pawsteps away from the border across the moorland before it hit her. A familiar scent that only graced her with its presence during the peaceful Gatherings. Her heart beat against her chest like a drum. It can't be... Heatherfur thought to herself, shaking her head and squeezing her eyes tightly shut, as if to block out the scent. Although she was already in the mindset to collect her prey and head back to camp, she knew she couldn't let the chance pass her by. Against her better judgement, Heatherfur turned, gazing out once more into the ominous trees.

She padded carefully along, respecting the border by staying a tail length away. As she parted her jaws and allowed the surrounding scents to fill her senses, the target scent became stronger, and stronger still, until finally from a distance, Heathertail was able to locate the source. "M-Mintberry?" she called, almost cautiously as if at any moment, this could be a dream and the feline in front of her would vanish in a display of smoke and flames, as she had so often in her dreams. But not even the thought of that could keep her from coming closer, right to the edge of the border, her eyes longing to run full force at her sister. Their blue depths danced with a mixture of sadness and joy as she gazed at the ThunderClan warrior, seeing her for the first time outside a Gathering setting.

How cold she have let her guard down like that? As Mintberry looked into the moors -- her old home -- a voice broke the silence. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed movement and immediately her fur began to bristle. The wind was against her here, she couldn't scent who this cat was. With a quick motion, Mintberry got to her paws and whipped to face the feline on the other side of the border, her tail lashing before her rigid body froze. Her pale green hues rested on a familiar feline. Heatherfur. Gaze averting quickly, she fixed her posture, looking less threatening, however her ears lay against her head. More or less in embarrassment.

"Heatherfur," the black and white she-cat replied casually towards her sister. This wasn't a gathering, they were enemies here. Mintberry wouldn't allow her sister to distract her. For all she knew, this was a trap to get her to cross the border. With the tensions so high between the clans, she couldn't even trust her sister. "Things are well, I assume?" she inquired, however she didn't show much interest. This wasn't the time for talking. If another patrol stumbled upon them, it was the end of them.

Mintberry merely asked that because she was the only family member who left Windclan to join another clan. She couldn't live there. Maybe again in the future, but not now. Not when the leader of Windclan was her father's murderer. This wouldn't slide for Mintberry and it always made her distraught thinking that her family was okay with that.

Kestrelpaw honestly wasn't sure what she was doing here. She was a loyal cat of ThunderClan, she was about to be made a warrior - and yet here she was at the border between them and ThunderClan. Her eyes gleamed sorrowfully as she shuffled her paws closer to the border. Perhaps this had been a mistake. As long as she wasn't seen by another ThunderClan cat, she would be fine. She was fairly sure this was one of the biggest mistakes she had made in a long time. Or it could be NOT a mistake. She glanced around the border, her expression soft and worried at the same time. That confidence, that usual intelligence that showed in her eyes, was gone. If Aime'Storm was there, he would have helped her.

The fact that he was like an older brother/father to her didn't hurt, either. I hope this is worth it... she thought, squeezing her eyes shut and waiting to hear the sounds of yelling when she thought she heard pawsteps. But there was nothing; it had just been the wind blowing through the grasses of the open moors. She didn't know how WindClan cats lived like that, so out in the open without anything guarding them. It must be difficult to hide there.. guess that's why they're so fast, Kestrelpaw thought with a chuckle. However, she managed to keep from doing so again as she stood there, her tail twitching back and forth a little anxiously and with part-anticipation.

She was looking forward to seeing what WindClanner would dare to show up there and mess with her. Even though it was a bad idea for her to be here, if any other WindClan cat showed up, she would have them quickly down on the ground and begging her for mercy. No one should mess with her. She had just gotten over her injuries from the fight at the Gathering, too... or was working on them. She should probably rest, or at least make sure that she was well enough to go out, but she didn't want Caliapaw looking over her. The medicine cat was younger then she was, and had had very little training! So what did she know? Probably nothing.

"Trend lightly now, ladies." Passionblaze, who was at the head of this small patrol, kindly reminded the group behind him. Three mollies followed him about; Cormorantstone, Piperwing, and Rosebelly. The flame pelted Tom thought it was best to scope the area near the Windclan. Where their borders met, and on the other side laid their common opponents. Passionblaze made a scowl, but as quickly as it went, it disappeared. He could feel the feathering of the wind tickling his pelt, making him fluffed up for a moment. Being near the borders - near these borders was an unpleasant experience to him. Especially since the unfortunate events that happened at the last gathering. Albeit, Passionblaze buried his worries down, and he continued to stomp around the place on heavy set paws. "Keep yourselves focused. Do not get distracted." He kept his voice low, his eyes ahead. He knew being at the borders of Windclan would cause hackles to be raised. No thunderclanners should easily forget that Blazingstar cried war on them. Now, they all must pay attention around these corners.
When you were at the borders of anrivaling clan, you must always keep watch. Passionblaze was a kind tom. Very understanding, but even he didn't feel too much of a trusting nature towards these cats. Windclanners were conniving, vindictive ones, full of trouble nowadays. Where was the peace when you needed it? The board shouldered tom sat down on his haunches. While his clanmates were scattered around them, heeding their job, he kept a guardful eye in case anything should happened.

Piperwing bounced through the forest behind Passionblaze. His words caused her to smile, noticing that she was indeed one of three she-cats in a four cat patrol. The small molly was in a perpetually good mood and that extended even to the border patrol she was on. The upcoming battle between the clans could not even bring down her mood. Piperwing walked only slightly behind Passionblaze, giving her a perfect view of the tom. She hadn’t heard of him much before his promotion to deputy, and still had barely talked to him. He seemed nice enough and the extroverted feline was itching to become friends with the flame colored Somali. Piperwing thought about starting a conversation with him, but she realized that atmosphere was more serious than one that called for a frivolous conversation. They neared the border and Piperwing shook her head, clearing those thoughts away. Now that she was focused on the task at hand, the feline felt her mood turn more serious, though she was still happy enough.

Rosebelly let out a small yawn as she limped along. She hadn't had much sleep since the fox incident. She had panicked when the scent of fox drifted into her nose, but she had been utterly embarrassed. Rosebelly was woken a day or two after that for this border patrol, much to her dismay. Her shoulder still hurt from wrenching it, and her fear of foxes was not yet pushed to the back of her mind. Rosebelly had never liked going near the WindClan border since Blazingstar declared war on ThunderClan, and yet here she was. Rosebelly knew better than to complain, so she agreed when she was asked. It should have been an honor to be on a patrol with the Clan deputy, but her mind was roaring. Would they see a patrol? Would they fight WindClan? Would she die? Rosebelly had tried her best to shove those questions down, but somehow they always came back. She nearly jumped out of her fur as Passionblaze, the Clan deputy, softly reminded the patrol of keeping their guard up. Rosebelly nodded and twitched her ear in response.
As the scent of heather drifted into her nose, her fur began to rise with anticipation. Rosebelly flicked her gaze left and right occasionally. Those slick, small WindClan cats could leap from the tall grass at any moment, and Rosebelly felt as if she were prepared. Reminding herself of her sharp senses, Rosebelly pricked her ears and raised her head. It looked as if she were looking for prey, but her determined and worried gaze said otherwise. Her whiskers twitched along with her ears and nose. Some would say she was being silly if they did not know this was perfect concentration for hunting. Well, at least for her. However, Rosebelly was not searching for prey. Instead, she was keeping watch for a patrol. "I think were in the clear today," she announced quietly. "I don't scent any patrols."
