It certainly stabilized them, which was good, and eased her pain a little bit, though a great amount still seemed to maul her limp body, bringing with it waves of exhaustion. Trying not to sink into a pain-stricken sleep, all the mangled apprentice could do is sit helplessly on Daydream's back, hope they wouldn't drop her, and try to fight the pain and exhaustion tackling her body to shreds.

"Alright, Im going to bring you to the medicine cat den so i can treat your minor injuries like you scrapes and cuts. But i need you to stay awake." they grunted as she was placed on their back. they were a smaller cat than average, only around nightpaws size and she was an apprentice! but they were still strong, carrying snowpaw with ease. they started walking, going slow to not drop her but also fast enough to not waste time. she wasnt going to die today, she couldnt. poultices and herbal formulas were already running through their head quickly as to what they were going to treat her with when they were back to their beloved den.

daydream hummed. they ignored marshfurs aggression. she was thinking now. she was processing, she was taking their words in and thats all they wanted. so they wouldnt jab or poke at her anymore, they didnt want to overwhelm her and make her run away. ebcause she could if she wanted to. she could get so made at daydream and walk away, and daydream wouldnt stop her. they had asked nicely if she wanted to join them, and she accepted. she could leave, but she didnt. why? why did she stay? there was some reason and thats all that daydream wanted. so they kept walking peacefully, bobbing their head to whatever hum they were reciting. they seemed unphased towards her reactions, not even acknowledging it once so ever, which could irritate some. they were on their way to a place they knew they could get honey from. it was easier when in the winter bees either migrated or fell into a deep sleep, and the assistance was appreciated. as much as they liked to think of this walk to be a trail of symbolism, they did need something done in the end.

Beetlemist kept her body low, the young warriors dark fur touching the undergrowth beneath her paws, as she searched for prey. Her green gaze scanned the area around her with little sucess, stoping in her tracks Beetlemist let her more acute senses take over and catching the slightest rustling coming from nearby she crept towards the source of the sound, a detemined look on her face.

He bit his tongue, not wanting to say anything to make Shadetail's mood worse. He wanted to defend himself, but thought better of it. Ashnose would prove himself better by leading this patrol with confidence. The ShadowClan warrior let his eyes scan over the other tom once before he looked back to where the prey was hiding. "Okay," Ashnose began, trying to make his voice sound firm and confident. "You go to that side and wait for me to drive the prey towards you." He flicked his gray tail towards the right of the swamp. The tom's command was definite, but uncertainty lingered in his thoughts. He wasn't used to ordering other cats around. He'd gotten nervous all of the sudden and it was throwing him off.

Not wanting to let himself worry any longer, Ashnose set off towards the swamp. He strayed far to the left, trying to circle around the prey. His paws were light on the ground as he tried to be as quiet as possible. No matter what, Ashnose wasn't going to make a fool of himself by alerting the nearby prey of the toms' presence. He waited under cover and let his eyes, his nose, and his ears do all of the work. He waited until he could see, scent, and hear his target. After a couple dozen heartbeats, a chunky looking frog hopped into view. Ashnose's first instinct was to pounce and catch the slimy creature. However, he wasn't entirely sure that he'd be able to close the distance in one leap. The tom had almost forgotten that his Clanmate was waiting not too far away. If he wasn't able to make the kill himself, then he was sure he would be able to lead the frog towards Shadetail. With any luck, the other tom would be able to catch the slippery creature and make the kill. Ashnose crept half a paw-step forward, hoping that Shadetail would be ready to move when the frog headed his way. Angling himself the best that he could to make sure the frog would hop towards Shadetail, Ashnose finally pounced with a hiss of determination. The frog began to hop away from Ashnose as fast and far as it could manage. It was heading towards Shadetail, just like he wanted. Even as the distance between him and his prey grew, Ashnose continued to chase after it to make sure that it didn't stray in the wrong direction.

[ I've been super sick for the past two or so weeks. So sorry for the late reply!! ]
(You are perfectly alright, no worries!)

Shadetail left out a disgruntled 'humph' that was barely noticeable unless Ashnose had been listening closely. It irritated him that even though at times he seemed to know better than a ShadowClan born member, he was still treated with disdain. Normally, the warrior was content with the looks he received, and the whispers made behind his back. But they were beginning to wear on the tom, and he gave a shake of his pelt as if to throw them off like an enemy clawing on his back. He'd worry about his reputation later. Right now he was in a hunting patrol that, despite his initial frustrations with, would be a great opportunity to prove himself. Bringing back bountiful prey during the tail-end of a rather harsh leaf-bare? Surely that would gain him some points with his fellow ShadowClanners - and perhaps even Goldenstar and Halfgaze themselves.

Now, his ears twitched as his dazzling yellow gaze followed Ashnose. The warrior was stalking towards the briar patch where the croaking sound was coming from. Shadetail crouched low, keeping his ears up for any alarming sounds but kept his tail flat and still, careful to not stir a dangling bramble of leaf with it. Any noise and whatever prey was so graciously giving away it's location would be gone. It wasn't long until a rather large frog hopped out from the safety of the briars. Shadetail froze, his forepaw in midstep as his eyes zeroed in on the target. Patiences was key here, and the warrior waited as he saw Ashnose ready himself out of the corner of his eye. Come on... come on... he thought silently, not daring to move a single muscle for fear it would scare the frog. In a flash, the frog lept in his direction, blinded by the fear of Ashnose hot on it's trail. "There we go!" Shadetail yowled, muscles tensing as he bounded from his crouched position towards the animal. He sailed through the air - one bound, then another - until his claws were locked onto the frog, striking down at an alarming speed. The prey didn't have time to comprehend what was happening as it prepared for another leap - a leap that it never completed thanks to Shadetail's unsheathed claws connecting with it's back. The frog went limp instantly, and the ShadowClan warrior delivered a swift bite to the back of it's head for good measure.

@Lyeni
The little kitten was alarmed by some kind of sound behind her, she fluffed up her pelt and turned her head to find the source of the sound. Her honey eyes darted around quickly. Scared, she tried to back away from the sound. But not having eaten anything had taken a toll on her energy, so she fell to the ground with a squeal.

@blue jellie
As the cats trotted on toward camp, Nightpaw kept beside Daydream, speaking to Snowpaw as they went. "Ok, off we go to the medicine den Snowpaw! Daydream will get you fixed up and we'll be back to cleaning moss out of the elder's den in no time." She glanced nervously at the medicine cat, as they carried Snowpaw. Daydream wasn't large by any means. Should she have offered to carry Snowpaw? Then again, Nightpaw wasn't large either. Trying to distract herself from her worry, she jabbered on. "Daydream, you remind me of one of the twoleg monsters. They used to carry both of my two legs and me to the vet, no problem. It even carried their kit when it was born. No trouble!"

daydream was searching. it had been days, weeks, moons even. clan life seemed to go on but no one cared, no one seemed to care that a medicine cat had gone missing. no one seemed to care that a whole being, a whole cat was gone. why had she left? why did she leave them? did they do something wrong? riverclan seemed empty now. russetstar was gone, geckoleaf was gone. it felt like less of a home than anything anymore. no search parties were made, not even an announcement. juniperpaw was struggling, and daydream had snapped at her for delaying on telling them about geckoleafs disappearance. its as if she didnt exist, but she was such a big part of daydreams life. she had impacted them so much. she had brought them back from the edge of death, literally and figuratively. she had provided more for them than any queen, any warrior, any cat had. she was their everything, she was their person. and she was gone. but they searched endlessly anyway. they walked for miles across countless territories to no avail. she was out there, she had to be. she did exsist. daydream wouldnt let her legacy fade as if it were nothing. they wanted to find her if it was the last thing they did.

their eyes were heavy as they walked, broken amber hues scanning the pale forest. snow and ice crunched under their toes as they walked, the cold seeping between their short, thin threads of fur. they were not made for winter but they search anyway. they were tired of worrying. but they had lost everything. they had lost cricketpaw. they had lost geckoleaf. cricketpaw was murdered, slaughtered right under riverclans noses and no one did anything ! they wouldnt let the same happen to geckoleaf. she wasnt nothing. she was everything.

It was so quiet; everything seemed so quiet. The world around her was covered in a thin sheet of snow, and it made the world more peaceful.

Peace. That one word had been her ceaseless search for moons, while she looked inwards for her own sense of self. And she'd found it, curled up one morning in the small hollow she'd called home. After that, it'd been a race back to RiverClan; she knew she'd never be a medicine cat again, but she had found something else beyond peace. Love for Mistfall; if not a medicine cat and a healer, she could be a lover, a mate, a mother.

But Geckoleaf had never been trained as to know how to find the intricacies of smell that marked a border; clans ones were easy to tell, as prevalent and frequently renewed as they were. But the single thin strip of scent that marked the edge of a loner's homeland was beyond her meager talent. She stumbled right in and kept on going; it was that loner's right to attack her, and attack her the loner her, mauling her and leaving her for dead after dragging her to the edge of the domain.

Her own blood was so dark; so thick and fluid. She'd never thought she'd had that much of it; the snow behind her was stained with a trail of it. At last, she'd had to stop; there wasn't enough blood for her muscles to become oxygenated, and she'd collapsed. Though lightheaded, Geckoleaf was fairly certain she'd made her way a decent length into ShadowClan territory.

And what she saw affirmed it; off in the distance, a familiar golden shape, hunched and weak looking. She'd know the form of her young one anywhere.

Geckoleaf was dying, as she knew what it loked like, but if she could see Daypaw one last time, maybe it would be rectified. "Day... Day!..."she croaked, voice a harsh scratch that she hoped owuld be able to carry far enough in the stillness. "Day..." Weaker this time; she didn't have enough energy left for this.

So, she gave into silence, and waited, desperate hope clawing at her mind and giving her enough strength to watch.

the voice.

that voice.

her voice.

they knew that voice any where. it was the same voice that mumbled sweet things in their ear when they were sobbing on her shoulder. it was the same voice that was related to their mother. it was the same voice they had grown to love, to respect, to cherish. it was her voice. everything seemed to restart in their mind. their body had a rush run through it, and as tired as they were, they felt so awake. everything that had had happened, they let go past them. they let weight come off of their shoulders as they became a simple apprentice again. a kit again, searching for their mother. they stood frozen. maybe it was their mind playing tricks on them again. maybe it was the lack of sleep or their hallucinations, showing them what they wanted to hear.

no. it was her voice

it sounded so real, so brokem, so desperate as they were. their paws were moving, ears flickering, eyes showing more emotion then they had in moons. they were running after the voice, and th emore they ran the stronger the scent got. it smelt foreign yet so familiar. not holding the fishy scent of riverclan, or the herbal scent of plants. but it was still her. it was still geckoleaf.

the scent of blood overwhelmed them but they kept running. both instincts of a medicine cat and a child towards their mother ran through their body. herbal formulas that she had taught them ran through their head. was something wrong, what had happened?

and then they saw her. her. geckoleaf.

they halted in their tracks, halting so hard that they slipped some against the snow, it flying in the air as they stopped infront of her. she was hurt. blood had slained the snow in her walk. had she been coming for them? returning even ? they had to do something, but they were overcome with emotion as they leaned down and rested their head ontop of hers, loud purring erupting from them. they had missed her beyond belief. her fur, her body, her presence. they choked on a sob, they didnt know what to say. they had so much to say, yet they stayed silent.

"Im here now, mom."

"Im here now, mom."
"Day." One word from her broken body; one word she'd hoped to say again. The only word that mattered.

The purring from her child seemed to ripple through her body; it was so powerful that she thought maybe, by some miracle, StarClan had taken her own gift of healing and given it to one who could use it. But it didn't dull the pain of the lacerations down her side, and the one on her neck that had narrowly missed killing her.

Geckoleaf raised her own blue orbs to meet Day's deep golden ones; they were so choked with emotion that she could barely make out anything. Love, pain, relief, longing, maybe even anger. But it didn't matter.

"You're so big..." she choked out, feeling old as soon as she said it. "You're so beautiful, my sunshine. My rainbow... my dream..."her voice trailed off, eyes unfocusng slightly, though she noticed it and attempted to regain attention.

"I'm going to miss so much.. you're first apprentice... your patients... your life." The words tumbled out now; so much to say. So much emotion and love and regret, but she'd be gone soon.

"Day...paw? I know you don't believe in Starclan... but... can you believe in me? Oh, little one... I left you..."she paused, watching them for a moment, trying to soak up their features; their chipped ear, the scar down one side of their face that she knew was from the flood.

"But... please... just believe that i won't leave you again... ever," she whispered, trying to crane her neck up to nuzzle their cheek, though failing as her muscles refused to listen, pain shooting through her emaciated form.
