Dirt stared deeply in thought, then nodded. He got up from the muddy ground and stared at the young warrior with gleaming eyes; he was proud of what Wormbite had become.
"You are a great warrior... possibly deputy in the future." the loner smiled, walking to the side of the black-pelted tom.

Wormbite could feel his fur heat up at the praise, frowning. He would simply shrug his shoulders, letting them walk in comfortable silence. It almost felt an dream. Was starclan playing tricks on him? Ha..

Once they reached the edge of Riverclan's border, Wormbite turned to Dirtfu.. Dirt. He chewed on his lip, opening up his mouth to say something. Ask him why. If he really did try to get Lionstar sick-- if he did manipulate Flowerkit-- if.. if, what he was doing at Windclan. He didn't.
"I'll trust that you can walk yourself to the outskirts, Dirt." His voice was cold and brisk-- averting Dirt's gaze. No matter what his mentor's reason was, it was over. It didn't matter.

Wormbite sighed softly, closing his eyes for a moment. Regretting his life choices. "I'll give a message if you wish. Either to Otterstone or your uh, 'kits'?" He never understood the whole adoption thing.

As Dawnpaw approached, he tried to quench the relief that was building up in his chest. He really did worry about her...she may be annoying as Starclan, but boy, being a mentor sure changed things. And she was a good cat, as far as he could see. Geez, he was getting old. Shut down on the sympathy! He didn't want it to show on his face- now that would be something Dawny would laugh at. Shaking his head in mock dissapointment, he smirked at the apprentice.
"Well, well well...look who decided to show up!" He remarked, trying to tap the apprentice on the maw with his tail. 'Boop'. Backing away, he looked in surprise at her hastiness.
"Says the one we've been waiting for! Come on, Mossflame!" He exclaimed, beckoning the other warrior. At least Mossflame was a good cat. He trotted out the exit after Dawnpaw, curious as to why she was late.

"So, all of you." He mewed, shaking his gorgeous fur, " We're on border patrol. Which means, if we see any Thunder cats, we're gonna have to suck up to them to squeeze anything from their little heads. Capiche?" He explained, nodding to the two cats. They continued to walk, and he led them through the undergrowth, hoping that they'd follow. This was one of his first times leading a patrol- he didn't want to mess up. Padding to the border, he frowned at how quiet it was. No good lemons to squeeze. He turned to the cats.
"So, we'll split up. Mark the border. If you find anything, tell me. We'll meet back here."

"That will be kind of you, thank you," he mewed to the warrior. "Tell my wonderful kits that I missed them and I always hope they become great warriors."

Feeling better, Dirt nodded to the warrior...again, and treaded away to the outskirts.

The tom burst out laughing, despite his dislike of the situation, Aspenpaw's discovery of the worm had been amusing to watch to say the least. "You act like you've never seen a worm before." He snickered. Oh that's right. She's like... a brand-new apprentice. Jaggedhawk had kind of forgotten about that for a moment. Though as Sunchaser called him a kittypet again, the silver tabby sent a glare his way. "Hey! I'm bringing up a valid point! The riverflow has overtaken where the border usually is marked!" He let out an indignant huff, before turning his attention back to Aspenpaw as she began speaking to him again. Sunchaser's added comment didn't help, but he ignored the older tom for the moment. It's pretty easy. You just go up to the scent mark, which currently does not exist because of this overflow, and remark the border. You make sure you don't step over it, and then BAM! You're done." He gave the apprentice an odd look as she continued shuffling closer, before he spotted the chunk of mud she held within her paw. "Oh no no no you don't!" He yowled, trying to scramble away, as Aspenpaw had gotten far too close. But the mud made it hard to move, especially when Jaggedhawk was trying to keep at least the top half of himself clean. "You throw that at me and I promise you, you're not gonna make it to warriorhood."

Wormbite returned the nod, whisking away rom his former mentor without another word. Looks like it was time to go,, wash the scent off. In truth, he felt like he reached some kind of closure. How weird.

Aspenpaw swiveled and looked at Sunchaser, giving the tom a big ol smile before she stepped closer to Jaggedhawk. Tilting her head to the side, doing her absolute best to put on an innocent face. "What do you mean Jaggedhawk? I'm only coming closer so I can hear you better." she hummed, pulling herself forwards through the mud. Her smile slowly getting bigger and bigger with each step.

At the warriors statement she let out a chortle and aimed her mudball. "Just because you get mud on you doesn't mean Duskstar will keep me from being a warrior!" she yelled just before flinging it near Jaggedhawk's direction.

Sunchaser refreshed the scent mark, a little higher than usual to accommodate for the belly-deep mud he was currently wading in, but too much water was better than not enough. He turned back to watch the two, a warm feeling in his chest. The future looked bright for their clan. A wicked grin stretched across his face as he picked up his own paw full of dense, brown muck. He lobbed it across the wet-land like territory, he had aimed the ball of mud at Ashpenpaw. The little apprentice wouldnt see it coming! Or so he hoped.
