Because Lightpaw wanted to get the taste out of his mouth as soon as possible he just nodded and spit it out right then and there. He immediately felt bad though, as it was Shinefang's job to clean his den. Wasn't it? "I-I can clean that up if you want me to..." He offered the older cat.

The old tom frowned and lowered his head to be closer to the kit. "Well, come and tell me if they get too strong. alright?" he said, licking the top of the smaller cat's head.

He shot a grateful glance at Grousestar, thanking his good fortune that the younger, more active cat had been around to help come up with a plan. He'd never had a patient complain quite this much about a little off time, but if he were being honest, as a younger tom he hadn't like just sitting around either. Maybe giving cats who came to see him a little something to do could help them feel a little more in control of their own healing process. "How does that feel? Any trouble with the injured leg?" he asked after she had done a few squats.
|
The leader inwardly glowed with pride as the medicine cat muttered approvingly of his stretch, though he showed nothing of it except for his usual smile, looking between the warrior and the older tom. "And of course she can practice kicking with her other, non injured leg to keep that one limber and in shape while the other one heals. Right?" He offered next, knowing that her forelegs weren't the only things that needed to be in shape for when she was released from the medicine cat den.
Barbedfall paused her swatting to look at the leader, her fluffy tail flicking uncertainly. "I'd have to put weight on my injured leg to do that."
Grousestar blinked, dipping his head slightly in embarrassment. "Right.." His gaze would then promptly look to Shinefang as he asked his question.
The large brown tabby she-cat looked at him before shaking her head. "No. No problems at all with it." Confirmed the she-cat, giving a few more test swats at the air, just to make sure she didn't feel any sort of sharp pains in her injured leg as she did so.

Shinefang couldn't help but inwardly sigh when the apprentice really did just spit out the herb on the den floor. But just as suddenly, the younger tom offered to clean the mess up. "That would be nice. Thanks," he meowed in reply. "Is there anything more I can do for you," the scarred, old cat offered.

Eveningkit could see that the medicine cat was displeased that no one knew so she meowed,” I just don’t want my parents and siblings worrying about me. They don’t need to be fearing me.” She meowed casiously.

Shinefang watched the shecat and leader talking while he thought, his tail swishing. "If that motion isn't bothering your leg, it ought to be alright. Just don't overdo it, I think. And if something starts to bother you, just let me know and we'll think of something together, alright?" he said, smiling at Barbedfall. The old medicine cat then turned back to the herb mixture sitting in the cobnut and pulled it closer to himself with his forepaw. "Now what do you say we get some herbs on that leg of yours?" He asked. The old tom looked at Grousestar, who seemed so interested in the entire process. With a welcome smile, he nudged the cobnut toward the tabby. "Would you like to do the honors? You've been a big help with this case after all."

@ Charmer
Leopard limped into the den that the two cats had brought her to, wincing every time she moved her leg, blood trickling out of the wound. She saw the tom called, Shinefang, inside. The sharp tang of herbs drifted in the air. "Ow!" she gasped as she moved further inside, the wound sent waves of pain up her leg that made her clench her teeth.

Shinefang's ceremony at the Starcave had been last night. He was still a little tired from the journey, but has slept late. He was grateful the medicine cat ceremony did require any all night vigils. He was too old for that sort of thing. In the moons he'd been acting as Skyclan medicine cat, he had learned from masters of the trade and taught himself. He wasn't just stumbling through the herbs anymore. When a small cry of pain distracted Shinefang from his thoughts and he looked over to see an apprentice limping in with the help of her clanmates, herbs to possibly use came rushing to the forefront of his mind. Shuffling over, the tom's nose wrinkled at the scent of blood. "What happened to you? Did you fall into the world's meanest thorn bush?" As he got closer, the scent of fox saliva hit him all of a sudden and he grimaced at the whiff of crowfood mixed in. "Ugh! A bush with a taste for dead birds." The fox that had bitten the apprentice must have been young and a lousy hunter. Good for her since it might be the reason she escaped, but a bite from something eating rotten meat came with more infection risk.

Leopard watched the tom as he neared her, the scent of herbs making her nose wrinkle slightly. She sat down, carefully resting her leg on the ground. "Is my leg going to be alright?" she asked nervously looking up at the larger tom. Her leg throbbed painfully as she moved suddenly as she changed her position. She clenched her teeth together in pain before it subsided.

Shinefang gave a snort. “Of course it’ll be ok,” he said simply. He leaned in closer and gave the paw a good sniff. “I can tell just by looking at it that it’s not broken. Worst case, the bone is fractured. Here, let me feel it out.” The old tom held out his paw prompting the shecat to give him her injured leg. Once he had it, he very gently felt along the bone, continuing to speak as he did so to distract her from the pain of being prodded. “Why when I was a young warrior, I helped chase a dirty old fox out of our territory. We were just at the border when it turned around and bit me. Took a good chunk of fur off my shoulder but not before I gave his nose a good clawing.”
