"May all cats old enough to hunt for themselves gather!" The yowl rang out. Ashkit's pelt prickled with excitement. Tonight was the night she would be made a Trainee! Ashkit watched as many cats gathered. Feeling proud, she padded up to the Dune. The Dune was a large sand dune that the leader sat atop. Lavaface montioned her up to the Dune. Ashkit clambered up the Dune, struggling from the slippery sand. A tug on her scruff pulled her to her feet until she felt steady. "Tonight, this kit will be made a Trainee under the stars and guidance of Starclan!" Lavaface mewed so all cats could hear. Ashkit zoned out. What would her warrior name be? What kind of cat would she be when she's older? What would it be like if your brother was here? Ashkit immediately shook this from her head. She mustn't get upset on her day! "Ashkit," Lavaface purred. "Do you accept your duty as a Trainee?" Ashkit nodded vigorously. "Stupendous! I will now assign your mentor!"

Sparkflame sat on a rock, watching the Clan. Sadness clouded her green gaze for a second, then vanished. No cat could see her true intentions.
Moonfoot lied down at the entrance to the elders' den, watching Sparkflame. She subconsciously ran her white tail over her scarred face. She knew she was lucky the lava hadn't cost her her life. She sighed, remembering what had happened a few days before.
"Don't worry, little one. Stone and the others will take care of you," Sparkflame soothed the young black she-kit, placing her not in the volcano like she was supposed to, but on a sort of mud slide going into the calmest part of the jungle, where the kits she had taken care of at night had grown up.
"Sparkflame?" Moonfoot asked. padding up to the she-cat.
Sparkfeather jumped. "Moonfoot! you startled me!" she exclaimed. She cocked her head to the side. "What are you doing out so late?" she asked.
"Sparkflame. I saw what happened with that black kit. Why? Why did you do that?" Moonfoot questioned.
"It's just not right," Sparkflame blurted out. "Throwing kits into a volcano. It's just... Paranoia and obsession." The she-cat covered her mouth with her tail. Her eyes flashed with worry for her well-being.
"It's ok," Moonfoot said after a while. "I know it's not right either. But what can we do about it?"
"Save all the kits we can," Sparkflame said.
Moonfoot nodded.
The white she-cat smiled at the memory.
Sparrowclaw sighed. He missed his paw being useful. He wished StarClan would've spared his paw, and instead taken his tail fur.

Sparkflame stepped up. "I'll be her mentor," she said.

Fatefeather padded to where the leader was. 'Oh wow, another apprentice ceremony!' she thought with enthusiasm, even though she saw a lot of these ceremony not even one bored her. 'Only if my brother was here' she thought.

(Is it allowed that Fatefeather's brother was exiled from the clan because he did something inforgiveable?)

Scorchmask watched with her usual emotionless face, her eyes fixed on the new trainee. She glanced away with disinterest, she had no need for a trainee. She already felt a bit of guilt for sacrificing small kits, she didn't need to deal with a small cat looking up to her for guidance. She snorted. Like she should be looked to for guidance. Standing to her paws and nodding to the new trainee, she disappeared to do only StarClan knew what in her free time.

Wildpaw watched Ashkit with excitement, his eyes wide as he smiled. It was exciting finally being a trainee, he remembered his ceremony. He stood, twitching his tail. Scorchmask had walked away. Wasn't she excited?! He sighed, of course not. The she-cat claimed she had no time for other cats, and she was a sacrificer. He growled, he would NOT grow up to be one of those! His mind now filled with bitter thoughts, he silently watched the rest of the ceremony, sitting with his tail on his paws.
