Onestar had sent Cloudstream, Adderstrike, Tigerleap, Lionfang & Greynose to take their apprentices - Riverpaw, Lakepaw, Rushingpaw, Bluepaw & Mudpaw - training. The only cats left in camp were himself, the medicine cats and their apprentice, his apprentice Mottlepaw, and the three kits.

Stripey plodded heavily into camp. "Onestar!" He yowled. "How are you going?"

"I'm fine thank you Stripey." Onestar mewed tersely. He normally accepted cats with open paws, but something about this ugly pop eyed kittypet was off. Every time he came near OneClan, he was bound to take an interest in the she-cats who didn't have a mate. "One of our patrols scented you on our territory about half a moon ago, why is that?"
That's around the time when Greynose and Adderstrike found Puffkit and Fluffykit in the forest! Onestar realised.

"Where is Ripplestream?" Stripey asked with concern. "I can't find her."

"She was here when you were scented." Onestar was annoyed that the kittypet had COMPLETELY ignored his question. "And her name is Ripplestar now." He decided not to tell Stripey about the clan splitting into five, it's not like his rabbit brain would be able to understand anything of any importance.

"I know, I gave her a gift!" Stripey purred happily. "Who is the mother of these kittens?" He asked.

"Some rogue abandoned them at birth." Onestar admitted. "Why are you interested? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be your kits."

"Ooh! Yippee!" Stripey squealed with excitement. "I thought they were my kittens! Their mother is Raven. When I asked her to join me and my housefolk so that she could have them in a safe place and we could raise them as a family, she told me that she would give them straight to OneClan as soon as they were born. I am so relieved that I get to see them again." He started to sob. "Can I please help you and your clan mates raise them? I know you have no queens to look after them properly."

"I suppose so." Onestar replied. "It's only fair for you to raise your kits."

"Seriously, Onestar. Don't you know what he's like?" Mottlepaw muttered with annoyance.

"Thank you so much Onestar! You're the best clan leader ever!" Stripey thanked Onestar before addressing Mottlepaw. "He thinks I'm the best house cat ever, which I am, coming out to look after my adorable little babies. You're a very pretty cat by the way." He purred.

"Thanks." Mottlepaw muttered, glaring aggressively at him.

Stripey thought Mottlepaw's fur pattern was very nice. She kind of reminded him of Raven, the sleek black rogue who had just bore his adorable kittens, Puffkit & Fluffykit. Soon his kittens would have some younger siblings, and he wanted to see Ripplestar so that he could offer her his companionship and a safe place to stay. He hoped that she would give him more of a chance than Raven did. If not, maybe he could have kittens with Dapplecloud and try to give her a happy life with him that she deserved. If that didn't work, Mottlepaw was available and she seemed to need his love, attention and kittens. Stripey knew that clan cats where always happy to have kittens and giving these cats a special lifelong gift made him very happy.

Skystar watched over her small clan with happiness and pride. She only had a few cats, but they were great and she enjoyed every moment with her clan.

Quite a while had passed since Emberclaw created his clan EmberClan. Since then, he had passed the leadership onto Blazestar. He thought she was running the clan really well and he didn't mind remaining a warrior. He wondered how long it would be until she named a deputy. Emberclaw believed that Blazestar's daughter Charfire would make a good deputy, and it wouldn't be long until Snakekit & Turtlekit were ready to become apprentices. He hoped that he would receive an apprentice, as he thought that they would both be great young cats to mentor. If not, he'd have to guide Dapplecloud as he knew that she was inexperienced would probably be a harsh mentor.

Dapplecloud was walking around the forest, catching prey for EmberClan. Maybe if she showed Blazestar that she was an asset to the clan, she'd be promoted.

Breezestar was glad to have Rainleap and Hareleap as his deputies. The three of them were like a boy squad, and he thought that was Clan goals.

Ripplestar had been feeling weird ever since her and her clan mates had settled in. She didn't tell anyone, especially not her sister Frostpool as she would worry too much. Instead, she thought about naming a deputy. She didn't think her sickness was deadly, but if things were still bad by the day of the gathering, she would consult Frostpool and announce her affliction and her new deputy at the gathering.

Frostpool was happily sorting herbs in her den. She loved being a medicine cat.
