Shockholly nodded when Mosspaw spoke.
"Three is the optimal number for safety, but it is possible to do it in your own, just far, far more dangerous."
And she did not want this apprentice being harmed because she put the idea in his head. It was meant to be something interesting and educational for the young one.
"If you cannot get above your quarry, and are put face to face with such a bird, beware their talons. Not only are they meant to pierce entirely through animals as large as rabbits, they could very well take off with you and drop you from the air," she warned.
"You will want to go for the neck, as close to the head as you can to keep the bird from snapping at you with it's beak. Preferably, you'd have at least one other to sneak up on the bird to take care of the wings as well. A bird grounded is as good as dead."
She swished her tail.
"To deal with the wing, be sure to grab as close to the junction where it connects to their back, else you risk getting a mouth full of feathers and causing minimal damage. You will grab the wing in your jaw, and your will twist and yank your head to break the wing. Their bones are brittle, likely to keep them light enough to fly, so this will not be the hardest of tasks."
At some point, she would have to stop and realize that this was perhaps too violent for a child as young as Mosspaw despite being a step mom.... But in her defense, she's still very new to the mom thing and knowing what is and isn't appropriate for young cats.

Mosspaw was listening in awe, when he noticed Shockholly’s hesitation, and he motioned for the she-cat to go on. He was still in the crouch that Shockholly had showed him, and asked, “can I sit up now???” He wanted to double check in case he had to stay like that.
