Mumblefoot led her patrol to the border that they shared with Shadowclan. She marked the borders carefully, making sure not to step over the border.

Morninglily crouched, stalking a fat squirrel.
Squirrelfur's pelt and tail almost match the squirrel's perfectly, she thought. Too bad all he does these days is moon over Fawnfrost. He's still my best friend though.
She shook her head.
It's not the time to think about that.
She lowered her gray and ginger belly even more to the ground, noticing she was upwind.
There's no breeze, she thought, moving a little closer I should be able to catch it.
She was getting ready to pounce, when a huge gust of wind blew, alerting the squirrel to her position. The squirrel ran over the border.
"Dang it!" She said, kicking a pebble. She watched as the squirrel ran into a ShadowClan tom's paws, and he killed it.
"Lucky you," She hissed at him, not particularly in the best mood.

"Well excuse me," She snarled. "It's not like a ShadowClan warrior could catch something like that by themself." She found him oddly attractive. "Don't forget to stay on your side, Forestfrost." She said his name with disgust, and she had only heard his name at a gathering.

Falcondive spoke as they neared the borderline, keeping his attention split between their surroundings and his stupid apprentice. "The border we share with ThunderClan. Eaglepaw glanced around at her surroundings, keeping her gaze away from Falcondive. Why did I have to him as a mentor...He is literally the worst mentor any she-cat could ever have. And he claims he was taught by Starclan. What a load of mouse droppings. She unseathed her claws as she walked through the hollow, her claws digging into the ground as she padded behind her mentor.

Eaglepaw listened to her mentor as he spoke, but continued to avoid him. She looked around at anything and everything except for him. Thunderclan? So they live over there? She looked across the border at the forest, wondering how any cat could live like that. She nodded as she heard about the raid.
She was a kit when it had happened, so she had gone to the water barn.
She didn't like it there personally. She promised herself that if she was a queen and that happened, she would stay and fight. There was no way that she would run and hide in a barn.

Eaglepaw sighed as she heard her mentors voice. What do I smell? What kind of question is that?? She lashed her tail once and then padded over to the border. She opened her mouth, letting the smells of the forest hit the roof of her mouth. "I smell trees. Birds. Stuff like that." And what does he mean cross the border unless necessary? She continued to look across the border, wondering if any Thunderclan apprentice thought the Shadowclan was weird.

Falcondive was becoming increasingly convinced Eaglepaw was not even trying. Birds and trees? If that was all she could smell, her nose must be broken! "Try again." His voice was a low growl.

"Embrace the scents around you, Eaglepaw. Familiarize yourself with the stench of ThunderClan and our forest. There is more to the air than just birds and trees."

If he could train her to use her nose properly, perhaps that might improve her sense of awareness.
