Rising to his paws, Blizzardwind looked around for Copperpaw but the young Tom seem to have disappeared. Turning to Mintpaw he frowned. "Looks like it's just the two of us." He thought quickly, making a decision on the fly. "Perhaps we can wrap out tails together? I could also carry you on my back, since I don't believe Slatestripe said anything about that." They probably should decide quickly, whatever they did.

Mintpaw knew the older warrior was talking sense, and she didn't want to have a conversation about how she should be able to keep the pace without tripping in their paws... or something like that.
Quickly, she nodded and approached him. "We'll do both. You can carry me as long as you can, then we can run for it." I'm light. I know how to keep my balance. And if this works, Slatestripe will see it.

The tabby eyed both apprentices, questioning upon hearing the warriors 'begin' so they could start hurrying all at the same time. Quite carefully, once both were ready, he would begin walking, then slowly and gradually picking up the pace the more comfortable and used each got walking so close together, whilst being careful to keep the touch of their tails. It might not be as fast a start as everyone else, but at least they'd find a good pace that could keep them together rather than falling apart right at the start of the race. If they were going to participate, then might as well try to do it right.
