Barkbrush huffed shaking his head "Dawnstar wouldnt hurt a shadowclan kit unless it was going insane and blindly attacking clanmates for no reason. He might keep it as a kit or deny Ebonyfangs request to take him as medicine cat apprentice at worst but thats it. You are right though this isnt the place for fear." Turning his attention from the kit he chuckled "Shadowclan born and bred. My parents were shadowclan though theyve been dead for a long time, my mate was shadowclan, my kits are-" he paused here expression turning morose "My kits were shadowclan I suppose. Only Adderfang is left now," he pointed at the large molly sitting and watching the leader stoically "the rest of the litter disappeared not too long ago and I can only hope for their health."

Ebonyfang looked at Dawnstar half expecting this. The tom was ready to defend himself and the young cat. "Bouncepaw helped me take herbs to my den Dawnstar. when doing so he seemed really interested in my work. I see potential in this young cat. He was eager to know about my job and he seems to understand what medicine cats do.", he meowed. The medicine cat looked at the apprentice. Every cat was jittery and nervous when they became apprentices anyway. Why was Bouncepaw any diferent? "with me as his mentor I'd teach him to ahve a bit of a back bone and make him into a strong and loyal cat. Just give him a try and if you still don't like him feel free to demote him.", Ebonyfang responded.

PuddleKit-er PuddlePaw nervously nodded, keeping her belly low to the ground, she didn't care want to find her mentor, she just wanted to curl up under a tree or in a bush. The young black molly realized she could do that! Suddenly she ran to the Apprentices' and hid in the corner, waiting for the older cat to scoop her up and take her into the hawk infested territory. "Nuh, uh. No hawks." PuddlePaw whispered to her self, curling up and covering her green eyes and muzzle with her tail.

Featherpaw’s ears twitched with disinterest. She easily could tell this cat was easily uninterested. “I ain’t excited either, but yeah. Like you said, we can make this work.” She replies dismissively, the tip of her cream tail twitching slightly.

Bouncepaw

Bouncepaw looked to Dawnstar, to Ebonyfang, to the crowd of cats around him, staring and judging and peering deep at him- it was overwhelming. The leader was in front of him, she was huge, he was not, but-

This is all he was riding on. He didn't want to fight- but he could help in another way. Those dreams he'd had, those late nights, laying awake staring towards the outer boundaries of the camp. He almost wanted to run away, because he was too scared of the alternative.

So as Dawnstar approached, and scrutinized him, Bouncepaw suddenly dipped down, head bowed in respect; and in all of his fear and distress, he spoke, "D-Dawnstar-" he paused, struggling to find his words beyond a stutter- "I want this. I've felt it since I was old enough to know what a medicine cat was that this is what I want, and this is what my place is. I swear, I swear I'm meant for it, and I swear, I swear I can prove it, on my life, I swear....I swear."

Berrysky turned their head sharply to Featherpaw and rolled their eyes. "No, it isn't because of you," they meowed softly. "I'm going to be a crappy mentor - a horrible one." They bowed their head in shame. "I'm sorry, but I'll try - I promise." They were still super uncertain about this whole "mentor" gig, and they were definitely not looking forward to it.. but at least they'd try. Not very hard, but still. Berry turned their attention to the current ceremony and leaned forward, their interest piqued. That was new - it wasn't everyday a medicine cat ceremony took place. Hopefully Bouncepaw was a wise choice.

She'd been an apprentice - not too long ago, either - but she had zero idea on how to train an apprentice or ..y'know.. be responsible. Oh well. Dreamcloud figured she could go with the flow and yolo it, and just hope nothing went horribly wrong. Yea, that sounded like a plan!

Wait... where had the apprentice gone? Yep. This was going great already. She'd lost her apprentice. Spotting a cat that Dreamcloud thought was Puddlepaw, she watched as the apprentice ran over to a corner. Sigh. Understandable, but still, sigh. Dreamcloud walked on over to the corner, feeling bad about the apprentice's seeming nervousness-- or maybe Puddlepaw just didn't want Dreamcloud as a mentor, which Dreamcloud would've agreed with if she'd been an apprentice. She wasn't going to sit and dwell on that, though.

"So, uh, hey! Hi! Hello! Howdy! Greetings! Salutations!--- yeah, so,,,, do you wanna go check out the territory or something?" She said awkwardly, offering a sheepish smile.

mintkit was happy "bouncepaw!!" she didn't really know bounceki-paw but, she was happy for him so she was confused to feel somthing else deep inside her, she hated that feeling . . . what was it and why did she feel so bad?
