Chapter 1
Scorchkit was sitting in the nursery, not talking, as usual. Her sister Ravenkit was playing with the other kits, but no one ever wanted to play with Scorch. She sighed. It seemed like they just wanted her to disappear.
As Scorchkit was just about to stand up, she heard pawsteps. Someone was approaching her! As the cat slipped through the ferns (which protected the nursery), she could see that it was Finchkit.
Actually, Scorchkit rather liked Finchkit. He was the only one who really supported her, along with his sister, Leopardkit, who was blind. She flashed him a small but bright smile.
"Good moring, Scorchkit," Finchkit meowed, sending her an equally bright smile. Leopardkit appeared behind him. She was flanking him, trying not to trip.
"Yeah, good morning! Finch, can you tell me how the weather is?"
Finchkit nodded. He had always been the protector of his sister, explaining her how the world looked since she couldn't see it. He had also always helped Scorchkit, since he could somehow understand what she said even though she was mute.
Scorchkit pointed her tail at the bright sun, which you could see through a crack in the cave the nursery was located in. Finchkit smiled at her, understanding the meaning of this.
"It's bright and sunny," he mewed to Leopardkit; "Do you want to come to this crack? Feel the sun on your fur? Or, you could go relaxing in the clearing!"
Leopardkit shook her head. "No, not really. But maybe we can play something together?," she asked as her tail started wagging with excitement.
"Of course!," Finchkit meowed, before turning to Scorchkit; "Are you okay with that?" She nodded, now standing up.
"Can we play something with fethas? They're so fluffy!," Leopardkit suggested. "Okay," Finchkit meowed thoughtfully; "Maybe we should collect them for the elders'?"
Leopardkit and Scorchkit both nodded. Then, Leopard let out a sigh. "Yeah, but you have to tell me how the fethas look!"
Finchkit smiled in amusement. "Yes, we will. But you know, it's called feathers, not 'fethas'!" Scorchkit smiled equally. She flicked her tail in a motion to go, and then tilted her head.
Finchkit eyed her. "You want to go now?" Scorchkit nodded. "Okay, Leopardkit, lean against me, and we'll get going!"
With that, the trio walked out of the nursery.
Chapter 2 - WIP
Finchkit blinked as he looked around. Where was a good place to find feathers? He didn't really know. The tom cast a brief glance over to Ravenkit. She was being swarmed by the other kits, like always.
She was popular, unlike Finchkit, Scorchkit and Leopardkit. He only held to them because they had no one else, as everyone didn't like them due to them being mute (Scorchkit) and blind (Leopardkit).
He sighed, then turned to the two she-cats. "Do you want to ask the apprentices if they have some leftover feathers? I don't think they need them all."
Leopardkit smiled. "Yeah, of course!" Scorchkit nodded in agreement. Finchkit pressed himself against Leopardkit, knowing she would need support. He led the way to the apprentices den with Scorch following.
Upon arrival, they didn't hear much. It seemed most of the apprentices were still sleeping. Finchkit sighed. "Okay, so which do we wake?," he asked, mainly to Scorchkit.
Scorchkit shrugged. Leopardkit pricked her ears. "I can hear that one is awake! Over there, im the corner, is from where the sound is coming!"
It was Beechpaw. The tom raised his head, looking at the kits curiously. "Aren't you supposed to be in the nursery?" He asked.
Finchkit smiled. "Yeah, but we were looking for feathers! Do you have any in your den?" Beechpaw smiled. "Of course we do! Follow me!"
