Eclipse’s ears perked when he heard the cat say something. He was guessing the cat on the floor was Yang. He felt sorry for this cat. He seemed so sad, Eclipse wanted to offer a helpful word, but he didn’t like to talk. Not to mention these cats didn’t even know he was here. Or, frankly, existed. He shifted a small twig next to him snapping under his huge paw. Eclipse held his breath, hoping these cats wouldn’t maul him. The little one, he didn’t think so. But the older one he had his money on. You’re always violent when mourning at some point. He knew. Eclipse has mourned before, and he’s seem numerous other cats mourn too

Yin heard the twig snap and flinched, before slowly turning to look at Eclipse in slight fear. "Wh-Who's there! Show yourself!" He hissed in pure terror.

He jumped, the shrillness of the cat’s voice hurting his ears. He emerged from the shadows. Mid-action, he realized how creepy it would be to just walk out of the dark without saying anything. Not wanting to break his vow of silence, he needed to improvise. He grabbed a stick. Eclipse waved with a soft, friendly smile. He pointed to himself and drew on the sand the sun and moon coming together, trying to tell the cat his name. He pointed to him and tilted his head, a questioning expression on his face as if he was trying to ask who the other cat was. He hoped these cats would understand

He nodded, a very pleased expression on his face. Eclipse pointed to him again, trying to ask the cat’s name once more. He drew in the sand a little speech bubble and an X mark next to it. Eclipse practiced drawing a lot, it was his form of communication, after all. He had thought of many ways to communicate other than drawing and talking. He could talk, he just didn’t. Eclipse’s tail curled, wrapping around one of his feet

Eclipse had a grateful expression on his face. He wasn’t used to being with other cats or talking, really, so he was a bit sensitive to loud things. He continued to draw an arrow pointing to Yin, a question mark and a sad face was drawn, as if asking him why he was sad. Eclipse felt empathy for Yin, hating the hurt in his eyes

Eclipse’s face dropped at every statement. It was so sad. His big heart cracked a bit. By the end of the story the big softie was almost crying, his eyes glassy with unshed tears. He immediately pulled Yin over to him and squeezed him into a hug. Eclipse had his arms wrapped around Yin. The hug wasn’t tight, it was a comforting one. Yin seemed like he needed one. Eclipse looked at Buttercup and offered an arm as if asking if she wanted a hug too. He smiled, happily.
