a buzzards attempt to befriend a badger [p]

here buzzardkit was, standing at the entrance of the camp, just waiting. waiting for what? an apprentice! but, specifically, badgerpaw. after interacting with him that one time, and him saying she was alright for a kit, she was determined to become friends with him. uhh, more or less for personal reasons-- scary cats made good allies!!

she would be an apprentice soon, probably, so that meant she could learn super cool moves from badgerpaw! it would only be fair since bonekit had been taught moves by that one frogfang guy. she would go look for that guy but, his name..gave her...hm-- how was she supposed to put it? evil vibes.

poking her head out of the camp entrance, she looked around before stepping a few pawsteps out of camp and into the territory. it was fine, right? it wasn't like she was going to the borders or anything! she was just looking for badgerpaw, when she found him, she'd go back into camp.

speaking of him, she spotted the huge apprentice not too far away. "BADGERPAWWWW!!" she yowled loudly, hoping to get the older toms attention. "come here!! near the entrance!" she called out, making gestures with her paws as if that would make him come any faster (if he even came in her direction at all.)

♧ Badgerpaw ♧

The large apprentice was just sitting by the apprentices den when he heard a familiar voice calling his name. He looked up to spot Buzzardkit coming over to him. Oh this was the cat he liked, but didn’t show it. Maybe they were coming over to learn a battle move. They had talked about it the first time they met. Thank goodness that one apprentice wouldn’t be here this time to interrupt. It had annoyed the both of them, so they did have at least one thing in common. Actually they had two after sharing their loyalty to Dawnstar.

Badgerpaw slowly stood up from where he was sitting to meet the kit near the entrance like said. Sure he didn’t like being told what to do, but he had to admit this kid was alright. One day they make a great warrior just like him(well whenever he became one). It shouldn’t be that far off. He had almost completed his training and he one a battle against those stupid mutts. He had killed two of them. One with the help of Whitepaw, but he wouldn’t admit that right now or ever.

“Don’t ever call my name like that again! I hate it! Next time I won’t be so nice.”, he meowed. Badgerpaw gave a low growl. The way cats called him like that made it sound like he was some weak kit. He was not a kit! He was almost a warrior. He’d proven himself in that dog battle. Surely that would be enough. Right? The dark brown apprentice straightened his back up before sitting down.

He glanced at the kit, his face not softening one bit. “Did you want something? Battle Lesson or Something?”, he asked. If it wasn’t one of those he might not stick around, but he might. There was no telling with him. Badgerpaw probably would stay though as long as the conversation wasn’t boring.

buzzardkit mentally cheered to herself once the huge apprentice started walking in her direction, but that excitement was quickly crushed by badgerpaws growl. eek! he was even scarier than she remembered. "okayyyy, I'll make sure not to do that again." she nodded. maybe she should call him supreme leader badgerpaw? hm. she'd think on that. she wasn't sure why he hated being called like that, but she didn't really wanna poke the badger.

battle lessons, yes! she couldn't simply ask this guy if he wanted to be friends, he would decline so fast. "yeah! I wanna get a head start, you know? so when im apprentice, I already know some moves." she nodded rapidly, it was a surprise she didn't stumble backwards or anything. "i bet you know tons o' moves, right? you were one of the cats that went with dawnstar to battle the dumb dogs." well, she was pretty sure. she didn't see badgerpaw leave the meeting last time, so he must've went.

yeah, compliments would probably help her become friends with him. (oh yeah, she'd have to compliment dawnstar too.) "but only battle techniques 'n stuff! i already know how to hunt, sorta." she said the last part proudly. she knew how to hunt amazingly! well, if hunting and eating bugs counted as hunting practice.

He glanced at her. He knew he shouldn't be too hard on her. She was a kit for crying out loud. He had been one too many moons ago. Badgerpaw just didn't feel like being too nice to others. It made him look weak. He had proved over and over that he was anything, but weak.

"I know how you feel. When I was almost an apprentice this warrior by the name of Talonstone taught me a couple of moves, which I was able to use in a spar against my former mentor.", he responded. He remembered although that warrior was gone. Well, both Taonstone and his former mentor. oh well, Brokenlight was weak anyway if he left the clan.

Badgerpaw didn't really like hunting, but Dawnstar had taught him a lesson that knowing how to hunt was just as good as knowing how to fight. Strength wasn't always everything. "Learning to hunt is great to know so young. Then you can show your mentor what you know on the first day.", he huffed. The large apprentice smiled at the kit. It was a sort of creepy smile, but it was the best he had. He wasn't that much of a cat that likes to smile.

"I know a move I can teach you. I call it the face plant. It's where you distract your opponent and take out their back legs to where they hit the ground with their face.", meowed Badgerpaw. It was a difficult one though. You had to have a good balance.

alright, this was going great. she hadn't been told to go away, or anything like that! "I know, right? like, look how good my pounce is so far! i should be able to hunt with no problems." buzzardkit said before backing up a few pawsteps, dropping into a crouch. one..two...three! she pounced forward, pretending to catch invisible prey. (although..she sort of looked like a frog jumping forward.) only to look up and see badgerpaw smiling.

honestly, it was pretty creepy and unsettling, but buzzardkit took the smile as a hint that she was only closer to getting him as an ally.
but....the longer she stared..the creepier the smile got.

she gaped at the apprentice for a moment. she didn't actually expect him to offer to teach her moves!! excitedly shifting her weight between her paws, she nodded. "yeah, teach me that move!" and then after that, she could teach bonekit..er..after he was an apprentice-- she wanted a huge head start! sorry bonekit.
