Thorn looked up to pawsteps. He poked his head out of the medicine den. "Callisto!" he yowled joyfully, barreling toward the deputy.

Reef stalked toward the queen, licking his lips. He stopped as he was about to pounce, his guilt clouding his predatory senses. She was a grieving queen whose kits just got eaten. He couldn't kill her! He deliberately rustled the ferns, and stepped into the open with his head lowered and his tail dragging into the dirt.
