Grousestar was aware that Shinefang wasn't as spry as he used to be and might not be able to keep up with an overly fast pace and so made a conscious effort to slow himself down so that the medicine cat wasn't struggling to keep up. After all, this patrol was centered around protecting and escorting Shinefang, not just following Grousestar into dangerous territory for the fun of it! Though quietly the leader did think this was a little fun, he couldn't help it, the danger sort of excited him, made him feel like a young warrior again. Not that there were ever really any major dangers in the old territory.
His ears swiveled back in Shinefang's direction as he heard what the older tom wished to do, the brown tabby nodding his head and turning it to look at Shinefang over his shoulder. "
Will do. That should be coming up here soon.. The last part was more or less mumbled to himself as he made a mental note, his eyes absentmindedly looking about for the fallen oak that was mentioned, and he one he passed nearly every day on his morning walk.
Though he quickly snapped back to reality as he realized there was a cat beside him, Smogcloud. Turning his head, he'd offer them a smile, they seemed about to say something to him. And they did, though it was more of a question more than anything. Looking back ahead, he seemed thoughtful for a moment before actually answering the question.
