Milkweed felt claws crake her cheek as she flew across the ground, skidding to a halt on her side. Milkweed whimpered in pain as she stood up, she turned and saw the fox after her daughter. "No!" she screamed as she ran at the fox, pushing him out of the way of her daughter.

Fledge let out a yawn as he prowled the forest. His yellow eyes flickered as he looked for prey. After a while of searching, he began to hear yowling and snarling and he glanced up from his search. Someone is in trouble! he thought before running towards the sounds. As he turned around a tree, he saw the two foxes, as well as Milkweed and Boa.
"Hey you mangy pieces of foxdung, leave them alone!" The tom yowled as he darted towards the foxes, leaping onto the one's back that was targeting Boa and tore at it with his hindquarters. The fox thrashed angerly under him as he bit and scratched it. The other fox, now distracted from Milkweed and Boa, launched itself at Fledge making him give out a loud yowl as it bit into his forearm.

Relief flashed Milkweed's gaze as she watched Fledge attack the foxes, she raced to her daughter's side. Whisper to her that it was going to be alright now before she launched herself at the other fox, pushing it away from Fledge. The fox squealed and raced off into the forest. Milkweed watched it run away.

Fledge leaped off of the other fox and watched it dart after the other one. The tom panted heavily as he limped over to Milkweed.
"Are you alright? The foxes didn't hurt you?" He licked his wound for a moment after he spoke, his eyes lingering on Boa for moment. That must be her kit.

Milkweed looked at Fledge. "Thank you for saving me." she whispered as she beckoned her daughter over. Boa went instantly to her side and underneath her feet looking up at Fledge. "I have a few scratches here and there, but I am fine." she then looked at him. "But you aren't."

Fledge nodded, his eyes flashing with a new kindness."It was no problem. Those foxes need to learn their place anyway." The tom was grateful she had encountered Milkweed and Boa, for they seemed kinder than most forest cats. "Oh this? It shouldn't be too big a problem. As long as I can find a healer before infection gets in it. Fox's mouths are pretty dirty." He stared at Boa for a few moments again before twitching an ear. "It's rude of me to not introduce myself, I'm Fledge."

Milkweed nodded then looked down at her daughter licking the top of her head, the pretty tortoiseshell she-cat looked back up at him with bright amber eyes. "I am Milkweed." she meowed, then she indicated to her daughter. "This is Boa."

"It's nice to meet you then, Milkweed and Boa." Fledge's mouth twitched into an awkward smile as he gazed over the two she-cats. "I better get going to find a healer now."

Fledge paused for a moment, his eyes glossed over in thought. "Alright. But if the foxes come back,
I want you and Boa to get up a tree as fast as you can. I'll make sure to hold them off while you escape." His voice was as soft as hers but it was mostly because he was feeling a bit lightheaded and fuzzy.

Boa padded after her mother, but instead, she curled up at Fledge's paws and looked up at him.
Milkweed disappeared for a moment then came back with some cobwebs.

Fledge followed Milkweed's instructions and sat, curling his tail around his paws. The tom looked down at Boa, a flicker of contempt crossing his eyes before vanishing. "I can't imagine how hard it is to take care of a kit. Though, you don't seem to be much a handful as I had seen kits to be." Fledge murmered cheerfully. He wasn't sure if Boa could speak yet but felt he should tell her that he thought she was an excellent kit. He stuck out his forearm for Milkweed when she returned. "I am grateful for your help. Your generosity is too much."
