when you barely got sleep, it was easy to manipulate things with your mind. shadows could turn nto towers monsters, the crunching of leaves could turn into foots steps, a breeze could feel like a tap on the shoulder. they felt tired and heavy, having not gotten good sleep within the last few days. their eyes seemed to be scanning every where infront of them, though they kept their nervousness in check as best as they could. this wasnt a moment about them, it was about marshfur.

¨its nice weather. its nice to get out,¨ they mewed, but they couldnt relate. they hadnt been able to leave camp without an escort in moons, but that wasnt the point. the point was they didnt want it to make it seem obvious what they were doing, trying to get her to talk. they wanted her to talk first, to initiate, seeing as trying to poking it out of her wasnt going to do well out of both of their stubbornness. they would let her take the subtle lead of conversation, starting out with small talk of course, gradually, though. they wanted her to open up to them on her own.
The bengal narrowed her eyes, staring suspiciously at the back of Daydream's head, "Of course," She replied plainly, though the words had needed no response. Really, Marshfur didn't believe them. How could she? The paranoia, anxiety, everything was nipping at her ankles, telling her to turn around and run, sprint back to the camp, back to the cage. The beast was left in the camp, and that was probably the only reason why Marshfur allowed herself to be outside. A break from the beast. It helped. Still, the void in her stomach grew with every step she took, each one feeling more and more real than the last, a growing weight began to press on her shoulders. She could breathe again, without having to ask permission. Was this what feeling real again felt like? Why was it only beginning to feel like this now? Even out here, alone, she'd never felt like this. She felt like one of the twoleg machines, cold and surreal. But she... she felt... warmth. Yes, it was beginning to bloom in her chest like pins and needles.

It only took a moment for fear to strike her heart in a sudden jolt, forcing her to lose the life that had been building in her pawsteps. She lagged behind some more, more than she had been. She put her eyes in front of her, not really looking at anything in particular, just following the soft padding of Daydream's steps.

"Why did you save me." She said abruptly, more of a statement than a question, as she stopped and turned her again blank gaze to the medicine cat.
