Whitestep frowned and nodded, listening intently. When it was her time to speak, Whitestep wrapped her tail around the young kit.
"That is what we call "survivor's guilt"," she began softly.
"I am in a similar situation to yours. My mate died in the flood, and my kits want nothing to do with me. Right now, I am all alone. Haykit, do you believe in fate?" Whitestep's green eyes rested on Haykit's own, waiting for a response.
