irispaw hadn't wanted to fall asleep. she had only wanted to lay awake and simply allow her body to rest as she thought of different ways to seek revenge. however, the tuxedo molly had fallen into the dream state, her violet eyes having closed for a few seconds. the next thing she knew was that a foul smell was clawing at her nostrils. it was rather disgusting, causing irispaw to sit up and shake her head to clear it. as she looked around, she slowly came to realize where she was. the dark forest.
she blinked multiple times, her tail lashing. small claws dug into the rotten ground beneath her form, ears flattening briefly. then, a glimpse of grey and white fur caught her eye, soon forming into the body of her friend alabasterpaw. immediately, irispaw stood up and raced over to the she-cat, silently nudging her side.
earlier, they had spoken about the dark forest, bringing up ways that it may benefit them in the future. irispaw hadn't been too keen on the subject, which had been surprising. "i just don't see why it matters what happens after death. if you're dead, then you're dead. what more is there to see?" she had said, her fur prickling. even now, irispaw still didn't find herself wanting to be here. it was much less than she had first imagined, with how elders tended to describe its horrors.
her fur brushing against alabasterpaw, the tuxedo apprentice looked around, searching for any of the residents of the dark forest. they had to be there for a reason, and irispaw, in the back of her mind, knew of what that was.
they were ready to train.
