They needed names. She shifted a little, trying not to disturb the small suckling kits. She mused the thought for a moment. They had to be special. They had to be charming! Gorsebird was a little overwhelmed even with the knowledge that she had gone through this process three times already, and two of those times she hadn't even had any help from a mate but, she thought to herself those times you only had one or two kits this time you have five! Gorsebird decided then to just wing it hoping that the kit names she choose wouldn't be complete crow-food. With a look and quick sniff at her eldest kit, a long furred brown tabby, she caught a subtle scent of chestnuts and with a light chuckle she licked the tom-kit on the head, "You my sweet will be Chestnutkit~" Gorsebird cooed, caught in the maternal bliss of the whole occasion, "You're going to be a strong one I can just tell!" She chirped confidence clear in her tone as she continued to fawn other her firstborn before switch her attention to her second born and somehow smallest kit, "You will be Tinykit." She then mewed giving Tinykit a rough and short lick on the head and not putting much thought into the small tom's name considering in the days to come he would perhaps be the first kit to die due to his obvious physical weakness. Now onto the third kit she thought the naming process already becoming a chore as she let out a yawn before eyeing back down at the middle kit a grey tom with the lightest hint of tabby markings, "How about Breezekit for you love~" She muttered thinking about her father Buzzardbreeze and deeming it was about time to name a kit after him despite the fact that she resented her 'daddy dearest' he had at least been a good and loyal warrior which was better than half of the scum present in WindClan today. Gorsebird then quickly nosed Breezekit before switching attention then to the fourth and last tom of the litter, "Hmm... how about Tempestkit? You do look a good bit like your father." She rumbled swiftly naming the tom with once again not much thought before her sight landed on the fifth and only she-cat of the litter, "Dawnkit. Your name is Dawnkit." She whispered thinking of when the kittens had been born and deciding that was an adequate name for the she-kit. Letting out another yawn she curled her tail around them. It was done they were named yippee she resolved before letting out a groan and thinking of hard the next six moons would be.

It had been some time since the birth, though it's not like he was able to tell just how long it's been. All he knew was that this place was much colder than the one he had been in before, and definitely more open judging by how his whiskers didn't brush against anything, and the familiar shapes beside him appeared able to move away if they so pleased, although very slowly; not that he was any quicker thanks to his currently weak muscles.

There was a gentle nudge at his side, stirring the young tom away from his thoughts as he raised his head slightly, tiny jaws parted as if he were silently mewling at the distraction, but instead he would shut his mouth and seem to take in the comforting scent of milk and his mother. Breezekit wasn't often vocal, though sometimes he would make a complaint when a sibling leaned on him too much, or even just when he was hungry and couldn't find his way around.

A tiny mrrow slipped past the gray tabby's maw as he seemed to take his time with trying to push himself more to his feet, though he barely managed to get his currently full belly off the ground. It was hard to describe the urge to see what's going on around him, but it was most certainly sudden; this was a strange, new place after all, and the voice above him which spoke so softly made him want to better source the she-cat who had cared for him and his siblings and offered warmth and food ever since they were born.

It took him a few attempts to figure out how exactly eyes worked; the sudden, dim lighting that met his currently blue hues didn't help his case at first either, making him immediately close them again and relax once more. Once he was calm again, he would try his second attempt, managing a partial squint, but it was far too difficult to see anything at the moment. A third time would do it, he figured; and... got it!

... He wasn't expecting everything to look so big compared to him, though. The young tom raised his head, awkwardly kicking out his slightly useless paws to scoot himself backwards a bit so he could better get a look at the tabby-tortoiseshell before him. Breezekit associated the scent with the image before him, and although his squinted eyes made him look almost criticizing, he was actually feeling rather happy at this new sense of his. The usually quiet tom's eyes would slowly open up more, as his front legs kept his upper body raised, while his thin tail stuck out straight behind him and his hind legs awkwardly stilled in a position that wouldn't allow him to slip somehow and return to his prone form on the bedding of the nest. Honestly, he was just... awestruck right now, and borderline speechless. He was used to saying simple things like, 'food, and 'mom,' though he bet that even if he had a greater vocabulary, he'd still be too stunned to talk. So, instead, he would gaze up at the she-cat and take in her features, and he would even look at his siblings and try to figure out which one was who, now that Gorsebird had named them.

Suddenly she couldn't smell her mother and began crying louder, mewing for her mother to find her.
All while this was going on, DawnKit's brain tried to figure out why her mother had called her 'hideous' when she opened her eyes instead of celebrating like she had with her brother. She began to attempt opening her eyes but couldn't see much when she did. She eventually found her mothers scent and stumbled back towards her stomach, afraid to go near her face.
(Its okay!)

Chestnutkit laid quietly beside his mother, and felt a purr rumble in his chest as he heard the familiar voice of his mother say his name. He allowed his tail to lash from side to side in pride, and almost immediately felt his tail brush against one of his siblings standing slightly above the ground. The purr in his chest was stifled as he grew jealous by fact Breezekit could already stand, and by the tone of their mother's voice, he'd already done something else notable as well.
Chestnutkit stalled a moment trying to prepare his own weak legs, and then steadily rose himself off the ground. He could only bear himself an inch or two off the ground, but once he had, he took a single step in the direction of Breezekit before falling on top of the other kit which forced both kits to the ground. Even though he was still young, his proud nature made him feel the need to assert himself above all the other kits.
As he laid on top of his sibling, his small amber-bronze eyes cracked open in an attempt to see his mother's reaction to what he had done. Another purr began to well up in his chest, and he let out a shrill mew, trying to bring her attention to him. Just then, he heard his mother shriek.
His eyes shot open with concern as he attempted to find out what was wrong, and he allowed his weak eyes to drift across the nursery until they settled on his sister, Dawnkit. He watched as she stumbled across the nursery, before eventually finding her way back to Gorsebird. He felt sympathy for her, as she seemed very distraught, and decided to pull himself to his sister's side. He felt his protective instincts for his sister kick in, and he began to purr while gently rubbing his muzzle across her soft fur in an attempt to comfort her.
