Re: The Travelers
Pinecone wandered through a forest in the dark of night. This night, she couldn't sleep, so she strayed from her den in a hollowed out tree. She tasted every scent of the forest, and savored each one. There was a strong scent of prey, that made her stomach rumble.
Suddenly, she heard a rustle in the bushes, and dropped into the hunter's crouch, which her mother had taught her long ago. Quietly, she glided forwards on the grass. Thrush, she scented. Finally, she pounced, and killed the bird with one quick bite.
She picked up her prey and padded to a spot drowned with moonlight on the forest floor. She sat, eating her prey and enjoying the quiet night.
