How long had it been since she had hosted her last race? Bravebird wasn't entirely sure - it had been quite a few seasons ago. Lately she hadn't quite felt like herself, and she hated it. Placing a paw on exactly why that was proved to be difficult so in true Brave fashion she pushed down the thoughts and instead found a way to distract herself; hosting a race for her Clan now that the weather was starting to warm up just a bit (not really but hey, they were used to running in the cold!)

"WindClan! I don't know about you, but we haven't had a proper friendly competition amongst Clanmates in some time. Think it's about time we changed that. So for any warriors or apprentices - no kits, sorry - want to join in on a little obstacle course race I've put together out on the moorlands, follow me!" The familiar feeling of what it meant to be WindClan started to flood back into her chest, and Brave smiled a bit. Maybe all she needed to shake off the cobwebs was to get back to her roots, and get the Clan out on the moors to soak up some nice, fresh air.

As cats would gather around her, the lilac lynx-point turned and bounded from the clearing, down the hill from their cliff-based camp and out towards a wide stretch of moorland. She had already taken the time to set up the obstacles like last year - hopefully the elements had allowed them to stay there!



What better way to shake the dust off a character than by hosting an event?
This is open to warriors and apprentices! If kits join, not only will they be scolded and escorted back, but it will be reported to Twilightstar that they left camp against orders! So, post at your own risk :heartbounce:

I will go over how this race works in my next post; for now just have your character follow Brave out to the moors!

Sweetpaw looked up at the warrior's call. A race! She grinned, feeling a thrill run down her spine at the prospect of running through the moors alongside WindClan, for the first time. She scrambled to her paws and ran after her clanmate.

Sparroswoop bounded over to the place where Bravebird stood, her tail swishing happily in the air.

The senior warrior was right. There hadn't been a friendly even in WindClan for quite a while now.

Hawktalon narrowed her blue eyes at Bravebird's call.

What was this? A friendly event? Might as well see what it was about before deciding whether or not she wanted to join in.

Hawktalon's lithe muscles rippled beneath her pelt as she padded over and sat down beside Sparrowswoop, tilting her head.

The dark-brown and white valentine tabby warrior's eyes shimmered with interest, though Hawktalon was usually cold-tempered.

Her tail tip twitched with amusement.

(Her eyes are amber so act like they are. I had to change her eye color in order for her to be accepted.)

Ivysnow's ears perked up at Bravebird's voice.

Oh, what now? The silver-and-white butterfly-marked tabby thought to herself with a low grumble.

Getting to her paws, the she-cat's eyes glistened with disinterest. Ivysnow, personally, wanted to be left alone.

Settling down into a loaf position between Sparrowswoop and Hawktalon, a low growl rumbled in Ivysnow's throat, and her amber eyes glowed sharply with hostility.

She had just come out of the warrior's den, her eyes flashing with interest when Bravebird called for the Clan's apprentice and warriors to join her. Swiftfire listened, and her interest only piqued at the idea of a race. Bounding over, Swiftfire purred, "I haven't raced in moons!" She chuckled, following Bravebird out of camp.

She loped lazily along, trailing Bravebird, but her tail quivered in anticipation; Who would win? What would be the prize? Obviously whoever did when could boast about being the fastest cat in WindClan- And Swiftfire had every intention on putting her name and her long legs to work just to have that.

Dunecall perked his ears at Bravebird's call. "Aahh, an old nice cozy race for my dusty bones, 'f course I'm in! And we're racin together, right, Swiftfire?" He suggested, brushing the she-cat's side with his ruffled tail. Arrgh, those knots are gonna drive me crazy. Why did his fur have to tangle up like that every time?

"Mmh, Bravebird, sweetie, I can't wait to see what you laid down for us there." he giggled, sitting down to groom his legs like he was used to do in these cases. Yeah, an old nice groom before a run. Or before a meal. Or whatever else Windclan had for him.

@Tiabirb open! Will we use the dice to determine which obstacles we manage to pass?

Her head turned when she heard Dunecall, and she purred warmly at her friend. "Sure, we'll be racing together- If you can keep up!" She teased, though she glanced at his raggedy tail, a snort escaping her as the tangled fur snagged some of her own and brushed it the wrong way. She too took a moment to fix her fur situation as swiftly as possible, but her pale gaze shot up when he addressed Bravebird.

"Sweetie? Really?" Swiftfire tried to keep the judging growl out of her tone as she licked down the disturbed patches of her on her side where the black and brown tom's tail had brushed over. She had nothing against Bravebird. Obviously. But she couldn't help but remember the prior Gathering, where Dunecall had reserved a particularly nice greeting to a ShadowClan she-cat. That hadn't sat well with Swiftfire, and now this sparked the same feelings of baseless anger and jealousy that the Gathering had.

StarClan's sake, why was she getting all upset over...other she-cats? No, it wasn't the she-cats that rubbed her wrong. It was Dunecall! She had been happy only heartbeats ago to see him, and then...he had given Bravebird a particular greeting that he certainly didn't give to Swiftfire. This confused Swiftfire. Why did it...hurt suddenly? This wasn't another Clan's warrior. Bravebird was every bit of WindClan as she and Dunecall. So why did this create such a response from the tortoiseshell she-cat?

Her excitement had been subdued, and she simply sat there next to her 'friend', watching the cats forming around them to take part in this race. Her heart wasn't in it anymore, not as much as it had been at first.
At some point she was going to need a walk to sort her thoughts and feelings out over her 'friend'...

Padding over curiously at Bravebird's call, a small smile pulled at Frostpaw's lips at the opportunity of a race. A race. She had never participated in a race before but she had heard it was fun so she'd wanted to try for a while and this was her chance to do so!

Not wanting to get left behind, the young she-cat scurried after the group of cats, eager to start. Though she probably wouldn't win, it was the fun that counted right? She honestly didn't care on the results she just wanted to have a good time!

He didn't really feel like participating, but it was Bravebird running the event. Maybe if he attended then she wouldn't disappear again. Fallownose knew it was a stupid thought. Everyone would leave eventually. Perhaps it was even selfish of him to want those he was close to stay. Was it selfish to get close to others? Maybe he shouldn't, because it hadn't ever ended well. Stars, how did Twilightstar do it?

Brightpaw had been a kit last time there had been one of these. //I think...lol\\ It had sounded fun then, and well, frankly still sounded fun now. No way was she gonna skip it! "You can count me in, Bravebird!" She mewed, hopping along after her.
