climbing new heights [p]
 
He staggered back from the weight of the blow, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. This session had been exhausting - he'd never felt so challenged in his life, and he was loving it. Compared to how his typical training was going, this was amazing.

And he wanted more, paws itching with anticipation. He never felt more alive, adrenaline coursing through him. ".. again," Wolfpaw breathed. "Let's do that again!"

William nodded. "Very well then. If you wish to bring your claws out at this point I will not stop you." His tail swayed as he got ready for Wolfpaw to attack him again.

Wolfpaw wasn't against claws, perse - but to him, it was a last resort option.

His cheek still stung from the blow but his eyes were alit with his determination. He took a second to gather himself before he backed away from William, giving himself enough space to do a charge.

As he charged, he veered off last moment to redirect the momentum of his body. His goal-- if it worked, was to graze William's side with his claws as he passed him.

William rolled to the right before spinning and pouncing, hoping to successfully hit Wolfpaw with full force. He smiled slightly. "Yknow, you're a pretty tough cat. Reminds me of my old and still living friend Zephyr. He was the grandpa of the cat I was hunting down before I died." He chuckled softly before continuing his little attack speed. He kept his pace consistent and aimed a bite right on the flank of Wolfpaw.

Wolfpaw grunted when William connected with him, but despite the weight that crashed against him he managed to keep his footing, only staggering. As William snapped at his flank, Wolfpaw twisted and tried to swat at William's head. He didn't understand half of what William just said, but recognized the partial compliment - and that was good enough for him.

William felt Wolfpaw's paw make contact with his face and immediately reeled back. "Nice hit. Bet ya weren't expecting THIS though!" William suddenly feint attacked and went for a strike at the underbelly.

Wolfpaw flinched at the feint, and was unprepared for the blow to the underside. Thinking quickly, he tried to drop his weight down onto William - hoping to stun him.

William was stunned, alright, he legit froze in surprise at the strategy.

Wolfpaw hadn't expected that to work, and briefly the braincell left - but it snapped back into place and he aimed to pummel down on William with his backlegs.
