So is there a way to tell if you've exceeded the maximum number of lines?
I believe the site only allows a maximum of ten lines, but this isn't accounting for the overall size of the signature - for example, it won't take an image into consideration. It's useful, assuming your text is entirely default-size and uses line breaks.

The best way to avoid exceeding the limit is to count the lines in your signature manually (by seeing how it appears on the forums) or avoid the issue entirely and use a spoiler tag to contain excess information.
