{For Raywood to get to when he has the time!}
{Raywoods’ Post}Although he was doing better with stomaching the grief after his apology to Lemonstar, the remnants of it continued to cling and gnaw at him, and he convinced himself that was the reason he was on this patrol. Anything to keep it within his control, rather than admitting he couldn't exactly say no to the deputy without risking punishment. Until he could grasp Grouseflurry's temperament, it wasn't a bright idea to push his buttons and attempt to refuse an order--which Rabbitfluff was likely to do, if he could determine he'd get away with it.

As they walked, it was difficult to focus on the task at hand and their general surroundings while Grouseflurry seemed to be bursting with happiness. It wasn't that Rabbitfluff wanted to dampen it or believed it to be invalid, but for StarClan's sake, this feline was over thirty moons old! And the extreme energy radiating off the tom was putting Rabbitfluff in a bit of a sour mood considering he didn't possess copious amounts of enthusiasm.

That aside, he did what he could to remain alert and attentive to the environment. It was a gorgeous evening with oranges, pinks, and blues bleeding together across the vast SkyClan territory and dipping under the horizon. Soon, it would be giving way to a blanket of stars glittering over the land, which would be poetic--borderline romantic--if it wasn't for his company. Rabbitfluff peered blankly at the newly-named deputy for a couple seconds, before huffing, "Don't you 'how are you faring, Rabbitfluff' me, big guy." It wasn't that Grouseflurry was particularly large in stature, but then again, everyone was large in stature in comparison to the small-boned Rabbitfluff.

To answer his question, he contemplated several replies; he could tell Grouseflurry about Hawkstar's disappearance and the subsequent heartbreak, he could mention the outburst at Lemonstar (though he was certain he was already aware or had witnessed it himself), they could chat about the fact SkyClan seemingly had no designated medicine cat nor any sign from StarClan, or he could go back and discuss the details of his family's breaking apart. None of those topics sounded terribly interesting, so he settled on an exhausted, "I'm positively marvelous, thank you," he finally responded, meow drawn out and dripping with sarcasm. "Why, I can't seem to conjure a single activity I'd prefer to do than be spending such a lovely evening with you on patrol." As if to amplify the point he was trying to make, Rabbitfluff's tone was a sickeningly sweet one, filled with far too much affection to be real.

With a sigh, his thin frame shuddered and shook as he exhaled, appearing to deflate as he dropped the act. "How are you doing, anyway? I imagine it's only proper to congratulate you, given you're the deputy now. Congratulations, Grouseflurry."

{My Post}Despite being the cheery, optimistic cat he was, Grouseflurry was most certainly not an idiot nor was he oblivious to things, he could sense some form of negative emotion radiating off of Rabbitfluff, but then again, the few times he's conversed with the other tom he seemed to radiate that negative almost sort of.. Sour emotion. And he's come to accept that, he's accepted the fact that not every cat can be as cheery and optimistic as him, not that he ever expected that anyways. But Grouseflurry had a reason behind picking Rabbitfluff for this patrol. He wanted to get to know this sour tom better.

Though no matter how negative the other, smaller tom was, his happiness was still there, radiating like sunshine off of him. It was a nearly constant feeling that Grouseflurry had, some cats found it annoying, others found it almost sort of contagious, it almost seemed to put other cats in a good mood, at least, if they allowed themselves to do that, some cats didn't want to be in a happy mood and that was alright with him. A quiet yet steady purr rumbled in the new deputies chest as he carried on walking next to Rabbitfluff, the tip of his tail flicking casually back and forth in the air.

A bout of amusement rippled through the brown tabby as he heard the other toms' response to his simple inquiry about how he was doing, Grouseflurry smiling and looking over at him as he huffed out the words. I'm honestly not that big.. Perhaps average sized? A well, I suppose I'm big to him, then again most cats are.. Maybe that's why he's always in such a sour mood. The deputy thought quietly to himself before turning his head back forward, one of his ears swiveled to face Rabbitfluff, expecting that the tom would have more to say.

There seemed to be a pause as the smaller tom tried to pick out a good response to tell Grouseflurry, who was rather patient and kept his mouth quiet as the warrior picked through all of the possible responses he could give the deputy, all the while the brown tabby tom purred and continued to walk with a pep in his step. Glancing over as he finally heard Rabbitfluff meow out a response, Grouseflurry's smile seemed to widen into the beginnings of a grin, just barely holding back a chuckle that was trying to escape. For some reason he had always found sarcasm funny! It just tickled him for some reason. "Well I'm glad to hear that Rabbitfluff, I'd truly hate to hear if you were feeling anything else but marvelous!" Meowed the tabby tom innocently enough, and he was speaking the truth too, there was no sarcasm here, Grouseflurry wasn't the kind of cat to say really anything mean. "Oh it really is lovely isn't it? I'd take being out here, seeing the sky like this any night over lounging around camp." And that was true too; his reply making it appear that he didn't hear the dripping amount of sarcasm in the smaller toms voice.

The deputy saw the shuddering exhale Rabbitfluff managed and his almost grin turned into a small, pleasant, polite smile, tail flicking slightly in thought. "I'm doing pretty good. Though you don't need to congratulate me if you're truly not happy that I was chosen, I'd understand Rabbitfluff." His tone was even, borderline soft as he looked back ahead. "And.. I'm sorry that you're not happy with Lemonstar. I hope you can warm up to him, he really is a nice cat to get to know."

As Grouseflurry sprinted towards the entrance of camp as quickly as he could, a flash of wind seemed to blow by Rowanpaw's fur as the deputy ran- he was like a cool breeze, never stopping for anyone- and dragging anycat he could with him. He was an explorer on an adventure, making sure that he'd figure out everything there was to know about the world, a blazing fire which tore through entire forests, just to warm the hearts of others- a tornado, ripping grasses out of the ground with his claws, but not to hurt anyone. He'd never hurt somebody unarmed, at least he seemed like it- Grouseflurry seemed like a really great cat, but he was fast, and he was about to blast. If I've got any chance of finding out more about him, I've got to catch up! Rowanpaw thought he was interesting, he wanted to learn more about the tom- he didn't seem to have any flaws, he seemed like a perfect cat.

I wish I was like you.

And in a few more seconds, the apprentice was running, he would run until he was out of breath just to talk to this cat, to figure out more about him. His ginger-and white paws hit the floor with force as he barreled towards the camp entrance, attempting to keep tabs on where the tabby cat was heading next- he wasn't a tornado, he wasn't a fire, he wasn't anything Rowanpaw had ever known, and he wasn't anything that he'd be figuring out for awhile- but inside, he truly knew.

Heaven is a place on earth with you

Tell me all the things you want to do

He was a feeling.

It's better than I ever even knew

They say that the world was built for two

Only worth living if somebody is loving you

Love?

There was a good reason as to why they called our dear deputy Grouseflurry-and it's most certainly not because he was slow and lethargic. Just like a young apprentice, this nearly 40 moon old tom was incredibly energetic and was pretty much always in a great mood and was an extreme optimist. Now this could make other cats absolutely love him, or absolutely hate him, depending on the other cat. Despite the cats that disliked him, the brown tabby always moved on, despite the cat not liking him, he would always smile politely at them and give them the respect they deserved, showing no ill will to them, which in some cases made said cat even more agitated with him. On the other hand, his happiness could be nearly infectious at times, he was quite a pleasant cat to hold conversation with, he was easy to talk to, he had the sort of smile that almost seemed to say you can tell me everything! And in a way, that was right. He always tried to help others to the best of his ability. And that's what hew as going to do with Rowanpaw. He was going to try his absolute best in molding this young tom into the best possible warrior he could be. But that wasn't his only goal, he wanted to get to know this young tom, he wanted Rowanpaw to feel comfortable, comfortable to the point where the young ginger and white tom would be willing to come to him if he had any sort of problem. He could sense that this young tom didn't have very many cats in his life, he seemed rather reclusive, shy, and Grouseflurry wanted to desperately help him with that. Already the brown tabby was beginning to care deeply for this young tom, and he only met him the night before. He was going to try to be the best mentor he could possibly be.

Slowing his pace a bit, the deputy turned his head to make sure he wasn't getting too ahead of his apprentice knowing full well that he could start running fairly fast when he was excited.

Rowanpaw wasn't too far off, even still, Grouseflurry decided to slow to a decent paced walk, it would be easier to talk like this. Sure he was showing the young tom the territory, but that didn't mean they couldn't conversate, this could be a good bonding time for them, a time that they could really get to know each other because after all, he could get a better idea about Rowanpaw. Clearing his throat softly, the brown tabby continued his relatively slow pace, waiting for the younger cat to appear at his side, his green eyes focused ahead, carefully scanning the territory he grew up in, the territory he knew like the back of his paw. A territory he was more than happy to share with this new apprentice.

November 2nd, 2016, 07:14 PM
Leaves crunched under Snowpatch's feet as she padded through the forest. A crow flew over the heads of Snowpatch and her sister. Acorntail yawned and stretched as they reached the edge of the forest and could see the wall that led to the twoleg house. "We really shouldn't be here. If I was Leamonstar i would have sent more than just two warriors." Acorntail said wearily. Snowpatch wasn't listening. She wanted to mark the territory and leave. She had a lifelong hatred for the twoleg that lived here. There was a loud CRACK. Both cats jumped and looked towards the clearing that separated where the cats were from the twoleg nest. The old twoleg was running at them. Snowpatch's rage exploded as she watched the twoleg that had killed her mother running towards her. "YOU! YOU MONSTER!" she yowled. There was another crack, and Snowpatch's side went numb. Her body skidded across the ground, making a trail in the leaves. When she opened her eyes again, her cision was so blurry, it was hard to make out anything. She could see Acorntail standing over her, frantically licking her shoulder. Her side burned, and any movements were painful, but she was happy. She didn't know why, but she felt content. She leaned forward far enough to lick her sister's ear, an closed her eyes. Then the pain was gone.

Sycamorebranch padded out into the SkyClan territory with a hint of a skip in his step. It wasn't his fault the weather was so nice now. It wasn't boiling hot summer, with stale air and warm pelts. No, it was leaf-fall.
But he didn't want any to hunt. Hunting was the last thing on his mind... maybe he should go on a border patrol? Whatever it was, he'd have to do something to enjoy this crisp day.

(Sorry. It occurred to me that I never made her a personality...)

Ebonypaw lay quietly on the low branch of a small tree, enjoying the fact that it Leaffall reminded her of Newleaf, when she was born. But now it was Leaf-fall and she was no longer a kit, something that sill amazed her after a moon. Somehow, just sitting in a tree with her semi-new boundaries and just being in the territory made her feel sort of free, still glad to be out of the camp for a bit. Six moons of the camp had left her bored of it and she wanted to spend as much time out of it as possible for now. With that thought, she glared quietly in the direction of the camp and went back to looking around the territory from the branch she was laying on.

Sycamorebranch padded deeper into the territory, until he came upon a small tree. Within it, there was a lump of fur on it- what? He thought. At first, he assumed that it was prey. But how could it be? If it were prey, like a squirrel, it would scurry around, in hopes of not being eaten. This furball was a SkyClan cat, similarly to him. The tom relaxed slightly.
Under further examination, Sycamore realized that the feline was slightly familiar. He couldn't place who exactly it was, but he definitely saw her before. What was her name? He couldn't exactly make it out. "Hello!" He called out, stretching his neck upwards. The tom hoped that he wasn't disturbing the molly much.

Ebonypaw looked up when the tom spoke and her whiskers quivered in amusement as she looked over the edge of the branch at him.
"Hello!" She mewed happily, one of her ears swerving towards him, though she was still trying to hear the things around her as well, eager not to miss something that could be important... Not that she had really collected much information from laying on a tree limb... Besides that birds like to make noise when they fly.
The black and white apprentice turned her attention back to the tom on the ground, who she definitely knew, but she didn't know what his name was, since she had never been introduced to him. She didn't think that he had an apprentice right now, and so she wouldn't have met him during training with her mentor, and besides the other mentors and apprentices, she didn't really interact with many other cats because her free time had been occupied with being somewhere in the territory.
"I'm Ebonypaw." She said to introduce herself, because she was sure that if she didn't know who he was, then he probably didn't know who she was either. For some reason, she was in a very good mood right now though.

"Hello, Ebonypaw." He said, flashing a small smile towards the young warrior apprentice. "I'm Sycamorebranch, but I prefer if you call me Sycamore... my name is too long anyways." This was his typical introduction for explaining his name.
Ebonypaw- it was quite a unique name, actually. Not many queens think to give their kittens such a different prefix. Basing off his previous knowledge, most queens simply name their kits after their pelt color or something delightful in nature, like 'rain' or 'fire'. But this was different; whoever named Ebonypaw had a good taste in names and vocabulary.
"Why are you in that tree? You aren't stuck, are you?" The tom said nervously. He could climb easily up trees, but getting down was the hard part. He was deathly afraid of falling off of a tree branch. In fact, Sycamore was frightened about quite a lot of things. Hunting and fighting were included in this list, which made him a poor warrior.
"If you are, I could help get you down," the warrior offered graciously. Emberpaw didn't seem stuck up there- in fact, she seemed to enjoy being up in the tree. But he couldn't be exactly sure of it, which is why he inquired.

"No, I'm not stuck." She mewed, standing up and climbing downwards to join him on the floor. Once down on the floor though, she had to look up at him, rather than down as she had in the tree.
"And I'm in it because I feel like it." She added. "Or at least I was..."
The apprentice looked over her shoulder at it for a moment and then returned to looking back at him.

(I was tempted to have her say that their names share the same amount of syllables but I'm not sure if a cat knows what a syllable is... XD)

The tom said, bobbing his head up and down. "So... Is there anything you do need help with?" His ears flicked. The apprentice's dark ears flicked slightly. Did she look like she needed help? To be entirely truthful she was slightly offended by this inquiry, not really being one to accept help if she needed it, let alone if she didn't. Her tail swept over the ground slightly, stirring the leaves that had already fallen from the trees earlier.
"No. I'm good." She mewed, unable to keep slight annoyance from her voice. She knew it wasn't his fault, there wasn't anybody at fault in this situation, but being so young she didn't know how to control her own emotions and so they just always came spilling out of her.
Ebonypaw hoped that her sudden change in mood wouldn't offend the tom.
He was nice and had after all only wanted to help, but for a cat who had a 'thing' about being helped it didn't rub off right on her.

@Duskflight

His mentor did move very quickly, almost like a gust of wind was blowing through the territory as he led the way, the brown tabby's eyes seeming to shine in the sunlight which peered through the forest canopy of their clan. Rowanpaw had always thought that Skyclan was named because of their trees, the ones which seemed like they touched the deepest reaches of the skies when you climbed them, the ones that led you to believe you were on top of the world when you sat among their bunches of leaves- though they were beginning to fall, and the trees had already changed colors. Leaf-fall was making it's way through the forest, and it was somewhat hard to concentrate with all the beautiful colors around you- especially the bright red maple leaves, a tree that had somewhat of a meaning to the young apprentice. It reminded him of a cat with red fur, one who he'd seen sit in the same place Grouseflurry now sat for ceremonies. It was a bit dizzy, being in the middle of all these changes, but it was almost like the nature around him, and even his mentor's attitude, was teaching him one thing. Change was like the weather, and sometimes you couldn't just shove it aside. You have to face it head-on, and endure whatever's coming at you if you want to make a difference in life. Rowanpaw's mentor did seem like a change, too- but not all changes turned out to be bad for him, did they? Even though it was beginning to get chilly, and the winds were even harsher than they had been before, it was beautiful, seeing the leaves fall as he chased his mentor down.

It was beautiful- but he immediately stopped after realizing that the deputy was far too ahead of him, that he had ran ahead. "H-Hey, wait for me!" The apprentice called, having almost run out of breath already as he sprinted as fast as he could, trying to match the speed of the short-haired tabby cat as he kicked up the leaves under his paws frantically.

"No. You didn't disturb anything." She told him. She was still a bit angry at the fact that he had thought that she needed help, but she didn't really know how to control her own emotions. She debated apologizing, but couldn't make herself actually do so, even though she was still sure that she had overreacted to what he had said. "Okay, good." The tom said cheerfully, back to his normal self. "Then, what exactly were you doing in that tree?" Being that he didn't like falling in general, he tended to stay away from climbing; and because of this he found that staying up in a tree was a curious thing.
He knew that questions like these often annoyed felines around him, which made him more of a loner within the clan, but Sycamore couldn't help it. He'd rather sacrifice his might-be friends than his personality and yearning for knowledge.

Ebonypaw found herself at a bit of a mental halt. She wasn't actually sure what she had been doing in the tree. Didn't everybody sit in a tree every once in a while? It hadn't occurred to her that what she had been doing may not be entirely normal. She supposed that she had just been enjoying it, but was that really a reason? Now that she was actually thinking about it, she wasn't sure why she was in the tree or why she liked being in a tree.
"What were you doing down on the ground?" She responded after a moment, flicking an ear, seeing as that was the best thing she could at the time come up with. A question in response to a question, which was also a question that puzzled her a bit. Why did cats remain on the ground instead of up in the trees?

It hadn't occurred to her that what she had been doing may not be entirely normal. She supposed that she had just been enjoying it, but was that really a reason? Now that she was actually thinking about it, she wasn't sure why she was in the tree or why she liked being in a tree.
"What were you doing down on the ground?" She responded after a moment, flicking an ear, seeing as that was the best thing she could at the time come up with. A question in response to a question, which was also a question that puzzled her a bit. Why did cats remain on the ground instead of up in the trees?
Sycamore watched carefully as Ebonypaw seemed to think a bit about her answer. Was it really a hard question? He didn't think so; the words just happened to flow out of his mouth so simply. Maybe to her it was.
"Why I'm on the ground? Well... that's because I prefer walking more than climbing." He said, narrowing his eyes a little bit. That was a weird question. Didn't she know that most cats spend the majority of their lives on the ground? Did her little inquirement have a different meaning than what he had interpreted it to be? Ebonypaw already seemed to be the different type; not an average SkyClan apprentice.

"Well, I was in the tree because I felt like it." She mewed. It wasn't really an answer, saying pretty much what she had said when he had asked if she was stuck up there just a short while before.
"I walk when I want to go somewhere, and I sit in a tree when I'm happy with where I already am." She added, which she said simply because she didn't want to leave it at 'because I felt like it', which didn't seem like a very good answer to her. She flicked an ear again as she thought over the answer that she had given, wondering how much of what she said was actually true and how much was said just to not have to leave it at those five words.

Tree's. They always, for some reason, made Grouseflurry feel safe. That they were like statues of their warrior ancestors, alive once more and whispering silly things to each other when the wind tickled past, that they were protecting and forever watching like Starclan. They provided shelter when the weather got nasty, they provided shade when the sun got too hot, they provided food for the prey to keep them healthy and therefore keep the clan healthy as well. The deputy always admired the tree's that stood forever tall in the territory, they had been there for generations and would likely be there long after his own death, they were mightier than the fiercest badger and when they fell, they caused the forest to tremble as if Starclan itself were descending upon them, they were a force that everyone should admire and would always be there despite anything that ever happened. So when Grouseflurry was in the territory like he was now, he immediately felt humbled and happy as he walked among the leafy giants, stepping over their roots that ran like small hard rivers beneath his paws. For a second, as he waited for his apprentice to catch up, he simply stopped and stared upwards, towards the canopy of the tree's, their leaves and branches intertwined and almost seeming to be holding each other up and yet the tree's allowed for dappled, diluted sunshine to glimmer down, just enough to warm you up, just enough to light your way. With a smile, the brown tabby looked over his shoulder and saw his apprentice running along and a feeling of absolute joyfulness welled up through him like a vicious storm in greenleaf. He couldn't explain the immense happiness, but it was there, and this memory of his first time in the territory with his first apprentice was being etched into his mind.

Once Rowanpaw was at his side and likely panting, the deputy would start forward again, but walking this time, at a normal pace. "We're nearing the outer west border now, this border is generally quiet aside from the occasional fox that passes nearby." meowed the older tom, glancing over at his apprentice with a pleasant smile before stopping as he reached one of the border markers, stopping to freshen it.

"I suppose so," Sycamore said, nodding his head. Her response somewhat satisfied the question, so he supposed that it was okay. "I guess we all have a right to do what we wish, when time permits." Although, that sentence was only partially true. Clan life restricted them quite a bit, especially for kits and apprentices. Sycamorebranch was okay with the slight restrictions that clan life offered, and it made him proud to be a part of a clan.
"I don't like being in trees, unlike you." He said as an afterthought. There was no harm in saying it, so he might as well.

Looking up into Grouseflurry's eyes as he made a sudden stop, telling his apprentice about the border, the ginger tom's eyes widened at the mention of a fox. He'd been told that foxes looked a bit like him, with ginger fur and red highlights, but that they had black ears and paws, and sometimes when prey was low, they'd even steal kits from the nursery. These tales of monsters, stories that kept kits out of the territory and inside the nursery, were reality to so many of his denmates, back when he was still one of the older kits, stuck in camp with his siblings. "Do foxes really come here? I thought they were made-up creatures by the queens, to keep kits from wandering out of camp!" Piping up, Rowanpaw felt like all his limits had been shattered, like he was in a whole new world- his mentor was the gateway to this world, of not just environments, but new emotions as well. Like everything he thought he'd known had been thrown away, and the apprentice had been thrown into a world where he'd have to re-learn everything, to try and figure out how to become an adult, how to become a warrior. One day, I'll be a warrior- just you wait. I'll be the best warrior that I can be! That was his dream, to be an even better warrior than either of his parents were, to be the best cat possible. He would succeed, no matter what the consequences were, because Rowanpaw wanted to be the very best he could, to one day be able to stand next to Grouseflurry and notice how alike they were, how they both were qualified warriors. Grousestar and Rowanflurry. I... I like the sound of that.

As he explained to the young tom about the sort of dangers that occurred around this border, he spoke carefully, not wanting to scare the young tom but wanting him to know that it was always important to be alert even when this was one of the least dangerous borders. The brown tabby offered a smile to try and lighten the mood, his tail gently resting on the apprentice's back and a chuckle rolling out of his throat as Rowanpaw spoke, finding the words a bit amusing. "Yes foxes really do come here and they are very much real. They're not much bigger than me, but they can really do some damage if you're not careful, so if you ever spot one in the territory, be sure to tell me or another warrior so we can take care of them, I'm sure your mother told you about the dangers they pose." Despite the rather dark note that this sort of conversation could hold, Grouseflurry maintained a lighthearted, happy tone and that smile of his did not falter. Sliding his tail from Rowanpaw's pack, he padded towards the marker that he had just refreshed, "This jagged rock here marks the edge of this part of the territory and is where the scent marker should be renewed when it's getting faint." instructed the mentor, flicking his tail to point at the rock that was nearly as big as Rowanpaw, the shells of nuts scattered around it because many intelligent birds used this rock in order to crack open the nuts to get the edible stuff inside. "Got it?" purred the tom gently, focusing his attention fully on the ginger and white apprentice. "Remember, if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!" I really hope I'm not going to fast for him, this is probably a lot to process on the first day of training..Thought Grouseflurry suddenly with an uneasy flick of his tail before promptly adding. "Also, tell me if I'm going to fast with all of this, I know it may be a lot to process at once.." At this he chuckled out nervously and glanced away. This was his first apprentice and he didn't want to screw it up.

If only I wasn't so awkward. the tom thought inside his mind, frowning a bit. It always seemed to amaze him how most clan cats could easily hold a conversation with ease, but here he was. Every single chat he had seemed to end in tension or distress- the thing that he'd been trying to avoid in the first place.
"I- won't. Yeah." He ended awkwardly. She would probably have to make the next move, or else they would stay there forever.

Ebonypaw was surprised to see the reaction that Sycamorebranch gave to what she had said. She had not intended it to be reacted to in such a way and wondered if she had actually said it harshly. She hadn't meant to say it harshly, but then again she had still been a bit annoyed with the other feline. Somehow though, this reaction seemed a bit extreme to her.
"I'm not attacking you," She remarked.
"And I'm not about to bite your head off. So why are you backing away?" It was less of a question to her, but she still asked it as one.

Omg sorry for the late-ish response :c
"Backing away? Oh, I didn't mean to." The tabby tom said, trying to stand up for himself without an annoyed tone. "It's just instinct... I suppose we could both just ignore that." He said, flicking his tail and looking down at the ground in slight shame. He tried to hard to fit in, and yet again he'd made a mistake. When would he ever do something right? The tom sighed aloud, and then sucked it in, in case Ebonypaw made another notice on his actions.

(Mkay, let me know if you are uncomfortable with something that Ebonypaw does and I'd be happy to rewrite it. She's... Not the best at keeping her mouth shut...)

"If you would prefer that." Ebonypaw mewed, looked him over slightly, she wasn't sure if she had done something wrong, but he didn't seem very happy... He didn't seem very mad, but he also didn't seem very happy. Not that anybody was generally always sunshine and rainbows, she certainly wasn't. She pushed the thought from her mind and sat down, curling her tail around her paws and slowly licked her white chest before returning her blue gaze to Sycamorebranch.
"What's it like being a warrior?" She asked him, curiosity overtaking her odd necessity to never be helped. A single question couldn't really be counted as being helped, could it? She decided that it didn't, purely because she wanted to believe that, and gave Sycamorebranch her full attention rather than the half attention that she had given him while she had thought over the predicament of whether or not asking a question meant being helped.

(No, it's okay. Sycamore is a rather awkward warrior x3)
"Yes." Sycamorebranch said to the apprentice's first comment. He then began listening to her next few words, which actually became a question directed towards him.
"Being a warrior's definitely better than being an apprentice." He said, flicking his tail too and fro. He suddenly realized that his statement could actually be used as an insult, but he didn't mean for it to be. And so, he corrected himself: "Well, it's just that we get more freedom. And plus, we're older, so we don't always have a mentor looking over our shoulder." His words were spoken with slight relief; apprenticeship was quite hard for the tom, and he tried straying as far away from it as possible. After all, what would happen if he were to mentor a youngster similarly to Ebonypaw? It would only be disaster waiting to happen.

Ebonypaw flicked her ears and her eyes became slightly narrowed as he spoke those first words. She could see his point, and the bits that he had added to it were interesting, though she still felt slightly hurt... Well, less hurt and more agitated would probably be a bit of a better description of the thoughts that were racing through the she-cat's mind. She turned her ears backwards, facing them away from the tom in front of her as she listened to the sounds behind her instead, wanting very much to open her mouth and say something, though she wasn't sure what she would say. She didn't want to be agitated or upset with what he had said, but she was. She could see his side, but it didn't affect her emotions.
"Believe what you like then." She mewed, her voice calm though turning icier, that was the best she could get to truly being calm as she fought to keep down the bubble of anger that she could feel compressing her chest. She didn't want to act out, not after basically being told that warriors were better than apprentices, she didn't want to prove his words right, even if that wasn't what they were meant to mean...

(Great. Here I go again with the really late responses)
Sycamore finally noticed that Ebonypaw was turning a bit... well, what was the word for it? He was probably doing something horribly wrong, but his jaw opened anyways and words spilled out like running water. "But it's true," he mused. "Apprenticeship was really hard for me- it might not be for you, but for me it was- and that's why I like warriorhood better." His paws shifted momentarily, as he debated how bad she was going to react.
Although, Sycamore did believe that he did have a valid point. And even if Ebony was going to be a bit frustrated, he couldn't change the fact of it. He couldn't change his opinions because someone else had different ones... especially a younger feline. Sycamorebranch was supposed to have more power than Ebonypaw did, but in reality, he felt like he was losing control. It was a strange feeling.

He hadn't exactly been talking to anyone ever since he became an apprentice, trying to prepare himself, to make sure he recovered from everything that had been happening lately. He was determined to do some good for the world, really- but first he had to learn. Rowanpaw had to learn from Grouseflurry, who confused him to no end for some reason- it was like other cats were drawn to him, how he could keep on running for hours on end, even if all his friends had gotten tired by now. Apparently, he'd gotten his name for his endless speed, but everything about the deputy seemed to be endless. The tom's kindness, his sense of bravery, everything good about him, it never stopped, and the apprentice could see this in every move he made, even when this was their first time exploring together, being able to train together as apprentice and mentor. "...My mom never told me, no- she wasn't really ever around." Mumbling towards his mentor awkwardly, it was a bit hard talking about Mapleleaf in front of anyone, but this tabby tom was a bit more approachable in a sense, easier to talk to than almost anyone else in Skyclan- but one thing was for sure, one thing that the young ginger tom knew. "Y-You're not going too fast! I wanna learn everything, trust me- some day, I'll be just like you, and we can go super fast!" He wanted to be like this cat, with his speed and his non-existent temper- he was like the sea, calm and beautiful.

The deputy nodded his head with a gentle smile as he let Rowanpaw sponge up the information he had given him, though his gaze momentarily fixated on something across the border, nothing in particular it seemed because his gaze was promptly fixating back on his apprentice. As a look of determination rippled over the ginger apprentice's face, the same look streaked across the tabby mentor's. He was determined to give this young tom everything. He was determined to present him the knowledge that he needed and even more. He was determined to give him the power to become a truly great, and a truly notable warrior. He was determined to make this young, seemingly shy tom, a cat that was capable to run with him to the ends of the land and not stop once to question or ask, one that he would be honored to fight side by side with, to hunt beside, to call a clanmate. Rowanpaw his responsibility and Grouseflurry couldn't be more proud to be the one to take him under his wing and whisk him over the land, guiding him, teaching him.
At the young toms comment about his mother, the brown tabby nodded his head gently, brushing his tail along Rowanpaw's side gently. "I understand." In that moment, he wanted to give the young tom permission to come to him with any questions, any questions at all and blinking as he realized that that would be the perfect thing to do as a mentor, he did. "Rowanpaw.. If you ever have questions, anything at all, please don't be afraid to approach me with them. I am your mentor now, your teacher, and I would be more than happy to give you the answers you would like to know."
There was a pause as he listened to what the apprentice had to say and the sprawling smile on the deputies muzzle seemed to widen a bit, a small nod bobbing his head as he fixated his green gaze on Rowanpaw for a moment longer before looking off in the direction the border stretched. "I look forward to that day Rowanpaw, when we can run together. I know one day you will make it to that point. But for now, lets continue along the border." Meowed the tom gently, flicking his apprentice on the shoulder with his tail before turning towards the north, where part of the border stretched.

Ebonypaw felt her eyes become narrower, turning more to slits than to eyes and obstructing her overall vision. She didn't want to become angry, but, being herself, she wasn't too good at doing what her brain told her to do or listening to what she wanted to do.
"Since you obviously think 'so highly' of us apprentices." She spat sarcastically.
"Then why are you wasting your time having a conversation with one?" She mewed, afraid that her voice was beginning to edge more towards hissing than it was coldly speaking. She felt her tail begin to stir the leaves again.

Sycamore paused, clenching his teeth. His paws shuffled the ground nervously, not aware that he was restlessly moving around dried leaves with his paw. Now it was clearly obvious what was going on. Ebonypaw was definitely upset. He wished that he could've noticed this earlier, but would that really make a difference? Probably not a big one. The tom frowned at the apprentice then, with his thoughts scrambling and mixing up in his mind.
The last thing he wanted was to bring on a fight. He'd always encouraged peace anyways. Struggling to calm his nerves, which had already been restless ever since the whole 'apprentice' to 'warrior' topic, the tom signed. "But just because I don't like apprenticeship myself doesn't mean I'd reject talking to one." His words were as calm as he could handle, but it was a little bit shaky, as if he were a bit unsure of himself.
"Don't be upset." he then mumbled, mostly to himself. It was a slightly unneeded afterthought- phrases like this seemed to make the situation worse- but Sycamorebranch didn't really notice. His gaze was then plastered to the ground, suddenly aware of the ruckus he was making with his front paws. The tom stopped.

Ebonypaw flicked her ears again, remaining silent at this, still watching him through slitted eyes. She wasn't really sure was to make of the conversation, just that he seemed to be trying to reverse what he had said earlier, or at least how it had come across as to Ebonypaw. She didn't really know how to respond, just that she was not okay with what was going on and she wasn't entirely sure why. Well, she was, she just didn't know why she still was when he was trying to make up for it. She was actually trying to convince herself to quit acting so hostile when he told her not to be upset. All thoughts of calming down flew out the window at that window and she felt her ears flop against her skull.

The tom exhaled calmly, trying to bring down the fire that seemed to rage within his body. Relax. Relax. Tension will only bring more fights, which would disrupt the harmony of the clan. And that could break up the clan itself... It suddenly occurred to the tom that Ebonypaw was fine with herself, in that big tree, before he came over. Maybe he should've left her alone.
He was only trying to help, though! That's what he always did in the first place; helping others who were needy and feeling good about it afterwards. It seemed that everyone he met nowadays was either too involved in other activities to listen to his speech, or too upset in general. Although Ebonypaw didn't seem needy, she was a younger apprentice and may need something of the sort for encouragement or practice.
It didn't seem like the apprentice would respond anytime soon, though. Sighing, the tom took initiative. "Do you want me to leave?" Sycamorebranch asked. It was the first time he'd ever say such a thing. He preferred to be part of the big conversations and have an involvement in SkyClan. But this was different. This was one of his few chats with an apprentice, and it was already straying off the preferred path.
It may just be better if he leave, even though he didn't want too.

Ebonypaw lifted her ears back up and off of where they had been pressed against her skull. She realized that Sycamorebranch was taking this in... Well, in much the way that her temper-run brain had been intending, but not in the way that she actually wanted it to go. Many different thoughts were running through her mind. The thoughts that she may have hurt his feelings, and the thought that she was slightly angry at what she took for melodramatic behavior. She tried her best to calm down, she didn't want to make an enemy before she had even come two moons into her apprenticeship. She studied his eyes for a moment, and then spoke.
"It's up to you whether you stay or leave." She mewed.
"I won't make you leave, and I won't make you stay, so it's entirely up to you." She added, bringing her tail in another arch that swished at the leaves on the floor before coming to a rest around her paws again. She honestly wasn't sure what to do other than that, because she was still slightly angry at him, but also didn't want to make an enemy, and did feel slightly bad for him as well. She was just a bit confused and trying to calm herself down.

Sycamore was satisfied that the apprentice's answer wasn't an outright leave right now or else I'll claw off your face. He wouldn't be surprised if a moody apprentice or naive kit ever said that to him, actually, because similar situations had popped up in his life before.
But yes, Ebonypaw's answer was good. In fact, it was sort of the answer that he'd been wanting- that he didn't have to leave. That he could stay and talk for a little bit.
"Okay, then maybe..." he paused for a moment, gathering up his ideas so that unworthy thoughts didn't spill out into words by accident. "Maybe, I'll stay, and we could talk about something else." He assumed that Ebonypaw would be okay with the idea.
(Ph, I would make this longer, but I gtg.)

Ebonypaw flicked an ear absent-mindedly as she watched him pause and speak, not quite sure what she was waiting for exactly but just simply watching him in the way that she liked to. She didn't really understand other cats or read their body language, but watching what they did was always interesting to her because she way never sure why they did what they did. She had calmed down a bit from her earlier... She wasn't quite sure what to call it, and 'earlier' probably wasn't the best word for it as it had only happened a few moments before.
"Like what?" She mewed, glad that her words refrained from sounding cold or hostile, though perhaps it had just been that she wasn't listening very closely to her own voice. She actually hadn't really thought of what they had been doing earlier as talking so much as... Whatever on earth it was, but 'talking' would not have been the word she would have chosen if asked to talk about it. She flicked her ear absent-mindedly again and waited for an answer.

Sycamore shrugged. He was a bit unprepared for that question, to be honest... But it didn't really matter what they'd talk about, right? It was only a topic of conversation. He'd expected Ebony to take initiative or something, but that wasn't the case.
So, Sycamorebranch shrugged again and thought of the first thing that came to his mind. "Well, we, how about animals?" His tail flicked to the side, where there was conveniently a small gray squirrel nibbling on an acorn. "Do you like them?" The tom knew that this topic was cheesy and wouldn't give a lot to talk about, but did it really matter? He liked animals, after all, and maybe Ebonypaw did too.
He stared at the furry mammal for a while, as it bounded from step to step.
"Of course, unless you find something better to talk about." The tom laughed good-naturedly-- as if the past argument hadn't happened.

(Mobile post) ////////// Ebonypaw followed the flicked movement of his tail with her blue eyes until they rested on the grey squirrel, which she had not noticed before, and scolded herself silently about letting her guard down when she could have been hunting it. After a silent moment to return her thoughts to the Tom she was speaking to she answered what he had said, but before she could open her maw he was speaking again. Him and Mapleleaf had never been good friends- he’d never been good friends with any of his family members, now that he’d thought about it. Rowanpaw was sort of their ‘weak link’ of the litter, with two siblings who seemed to be better at almost everything than he did, a mother who’d disappeared right after her promotion to deputy, and a father who never stuck around for anything. He did have questions that he wanted to ask Grouseflurry, and a wide smile on his face as he followed the tom, his small paws pattering across the cold ground as he felt a breeze roll across his ginger-and white fur. The apprentice’s blue eyes glistened as he took in the vast territory’s beauty, the trees rolling across the skyline amazingly as he looked up in awe. “When I grow up, maybe I can race you in a tree-climb!” He seemed… happier than before, as if nothing else would be able to get him down when his mentor was at his side, being able to teach him anything that he wanted to know.
“...I’ve got a lot of questions, but I don’t exactly know the answers to them, huh?” Directing his gaze back to the brown tabby, he smiled weakly, trying to understand what was going through his mentor’s mind, and how he could stay so happy in so many situations, even when he was talking about something scary like foxes, or when Rowanpaw had just told him about his mother, and how Mapleleaf really wasn’t there for most of his kithood, giving him up for the sake of her own ranking up, for her own gain of power- and still, the molly didn’t seem like a complete villain. She had to make a choice, and she made one that prioritized position over family. His mother surely had her reasoning, but he still couldn’t find the stamina to forgive her, even if she wasn’t with him anymore. The tom didn’t even know why she left after making her decision- did she regret giving him to Honeybee?

The tom didn’t even know why she left after making her decision- did she regret giving him to Honeybee?
Being the talkative, friendly cat he was, he of course knew who Mapleleaf was, he would have considered her a friend even if she didn't even really know him, that was just Grouseflurry, he considered every cat he's ever met a friend (at least in the clan anyways, loners and kittypets were another story), and cats in the clan he hasn't met were simply friends waiting to be discovered. That was just his personality. It had saddened him greatly when it turned out that she just.. Disappeared without a trace, but the sadness was well hidden and he moved on relatively quick from the disappearance, mostly because his personality didn't allow for sadness to linger too long.
"Race me in a tree-climb eh? That sounds like fun, I'm up for it whenever you think you're ready!" Purred out the brown tabby, turning his attention over to Rowanpaw with a cheery grin before looking back ahead, walking along the border and absentmindedly keeping all scents in check, making sure nothing was out of the ordinary, which it didn't seem to be.
Swiveling his ears at his apprentice's words, he nodded his head. "Many young apprentices are like that, many questions and few answers. But I'll tell you right now Rowanpaw, I will do my hardest to answer every question you throw at me, it is my duty and I want you to succeed. I want you to be as knowledgeable as you want to be. If there's any cat in this clan that you can trust, it's me." As he finished speaking, he allowed his gaze to fix over on the ginger and white apprentice again, his eyes filled with nothing but warmth and caring for the young tom.
It was a bit past sunhigh when they finally made their rounds of all of Skyclan's borders and once they had, they began to head back to camp, Grouseflurry making sure to pay attention to Rowanpaw, quietly checking to make sure he wasn't absolutely exhausted, if he was, he'd quickly make them stop, saying that he himself was exhausted, knowing that the young tom might not want to admit that he was tired. But nonetheless, it had taken all morning to round the borders and yet.. Grouseflurry still hadn't skipped a beat, he still had as much energy as he did when he left, and really, that was in itself very surprising, but then again, if you knew the tom, it really wasn't.
"So Rowanpaw, what do you think of the borders, think you'll be able to memorize the markers and the territory?" Asked the tom with his signature grin, eyes bright and almost seeming to gleam emerald in the dappled sunlight of the tree's.

(I am such an idiot for forgetting this)
"Well, yes, that's true." Sycamorebranch said, cocking his head. He often thought of that idea- of how cats ate animals- but it disturbed him nonetheless.
To him, animals were more than just prey or a resource; they were life. They all needed each other to survive... those animals, in every forest and habitat, had friends and family. It almost choked him to realize the major similarities between felines and animals, but it hurt even more that most cats didn't care-besides murdering them as prey. It was sort of funny- Sycamorebranch knew that he shouldn't feel this way, yet he did.
All he really wanted to know was whether Ebonypaw felt the same emotions as he did, but that didn't seem to be working. As a result, the tom shrugged and kept on talking: "I guess all cats like animals to some extent, or else we'd be dead. Or, no!-we eat plants, couldn't we?" he realized suddenly, but immediately rejected the idea. Feral cats were carnivores, and although they needed herbs on rare occasions for healing and strength, meat was more suited for them.
"Forgive my awkwardness." He said, as if he hadn't made that more noticeable. The tom wished he could take back that strange sentence on plants. Why couldn't his mind have a filter so that strange thoughts didn't pass through and offend everyone?

Leafmist was busy hunting. She had already stored a decent amount of prey nearby, and she was about to add to that pile. Creeping up on the bird that sat a few tail lengths in front of her, the ginger tabby narrowed her eyes. The bird was too busy pecking at the ground for a meal to notice the molly creeping up from behind. Soon, she was close enough. Just as she had leaped, a loud screech split through the air. Startled, Leafmist lost her attention on the bird as it flew away, calling out in a panic. She turned her attention back to the bird and managed to snag it with one of her front paws, pinning it to the ground as it fluttered frantically. She quickly gave it a kill bite, before raising her head in the direction of the call. That was a cat... but what's the matter? The molly quickly buried the bird, only giving herself moments to do so, before dashing off towards the cat. As she got closer, she was able to see a she-cat a distance away. "Hello, are you alright? You are on Skyclan territory." She tagged the last bit on as an afterthought, though she doubted this cat could cause her clan harm.

Leafmist too flicked her ears back at Pearl's comment. Oh, yes, we have wings too, to help us get to the clouds. She kept her comment to herself. "No, we live on the ground. We're good at jumping, and climbing, that's all." She observed the she-cat try to stand up. "Well, that's no good," she murmured. "Would you like something to eat? Maybe you need to regain some strength." Leafmist was already planning out the quickest route to the bird she had just caught.

Pearl's first instinct was to decline the food. She didn't want to owe these wild cats anything. Her stomach suddenly growled loudly, and she hissed softly. "That...that would be nice. Thank you." she finally meowed, opening her eyes again. She realized that she could see just the barest shadows and silhouettes, but not very well at all. Her head ached, and she wondered if she'd hit it. "Am I bleeding anywhere?" she asked the she-cat.

"A bit on your head, yeah. I'll try to find cobwebs on my way." As far as medicine went, Leafmist knew the use of cobwebs and poppy seeds, but only because they were so common. She knew that there was typically some sort of paste to go on the cut, with the intention of preventing infection, but she had no clue how to make it. "I'll be back soon," the ginger tabby murmured, before turning around and dashing quickly back to her bird. She dug it up, then glanced around and ran to a nearby bush. Glancing underneath, she saw with satisfaction that a spider had spun it's web here. The culprit was nowhere to be seen, so Leafmist quickly pushed her paw in to grab it. She ran back to the she-cat, as fast as she could given she had to keep her one paw with the cobwebs up. She finally got back and dropped the bird in front of the other cat. "Here, it's a bird. I've got some cobwebs and I'll need to put it on your cut. It should stop the healing." Here's hoping this works... and that she won't turn the cobwebs down!

She winced when she felt the other cat's paw pressing against the wound. Once she was done, Pearl took a bite of the bird. "Mm. Thank you, again. But, listen, I don't want to have to owe you anything...I'm not going to kill rats for your little Clan just because you helped me. Say, what's your name?"

Leafmist blinked. I already told her! Am I still too quiet? She shook her head. "Leafmist. And no, you don't need to kill rats for my clan, we're capable of hunting for ourselves. One piece of prey to an injured cat isn't that big of a deal." You must feed the clan first. The code echoed in her ear. But surely this was a good exception? She tended to stick to the warrior code, but this was an injured cat, and Leafmist couldn't just not help her! Besides, she still had plenty of prey she had caught earlier. "Your's?" She asked the other molly. Looking at her pelt, she tried to think up of typical names for such a cat. Snow maybe, or Frost? Ice tends to be a male name... So does Freeze... She pushed her thoughts to the side. The she-cat would tell Leafmist her name, she didn't need to guess.

"That's an odd name, didn't realize that you were naming yourself when you were talking about your Clan before. I'm Pearl. My mother lived with Twolegs when she was young, and they had these weird tiny white balls called pearls. She always loved playing with them. Then they tossed her out of the house. "A car! I crossed the road...there must have been a car that hit me! Thinking fast, she ran back to where Pearl had eaten the bird, picking up a bunch of feathers in her mouth before shuffling the ground to bury any other traces of the meal. Don't need anyone tracking her while she's recovering. She was aware she was going against the code, something she really would rather not do, but it was for the sake of an injured cat. The tabby nodded. "Alright, I'll be right back then." Leafmist turned and padded back out of the den, heading straight to the tree she had gone to for moss the day before. Clawing some more off, she repeated the process of soaking them in the nearby stream before heading back to Pearl. Some of the water soaked into her chest fur, and she lifted her head a bit higher as she padded through the entrance. She gently placed the moss down and then sat inside. "So, I take it the rest of yesterday was pretty uneventful?"

Just like any other cat in Skyclan, Grousestar had been affected by his close friends disappearance, he was just better at moving on and looking past it than others, which was something nice that came out of being an optimist, you didn't let things bother you too much, you moved on and looked for the positives. Sure he missed his friend, he missed him a great bunch, but you couldn't stay like that forever and the brown tabby knew that. He needed to be a good leader for this clan, he needed to right it because it was tottering, if he didn't do good, if he disappeared like all of the other leaders, it would surely crumble into chaos, or perhaps even disband into a group of rogues and loners. He didn't want that. He loved Skyclan like a family and would never let that happen to them.
After a bit of sleep, the new leader had decided to take a small journey into the territory, he had ceremonies to do in a few days, there were at least four apprentices that would be gaining their warrior names. Four. That was a good sign, the clan was growing, the clan was going to be strong, he just needed to be a strong leader. He could do it.

A familiar scent hit his nose, it was Lemonstar's sister, Gingerwish, also a friend of his. What was she doing out in the territory? Smiling a bit, he quickened his pace in order to follow her. It had been a while since they talked, in fact, he didn't remember having spoken to her since he was announced as deputy. It didn't take very long for him to find her settled down beneath a cherry tree, the brown tabby pausing as he approached, dipping his head politely.
"Greetings Gingerwish. May I join you?"

The likely reason they hadn't spoken for quite some time was due to his mounds of duties, ever since he had been placed into the deputy position, he seemed to take on so much responsibility, even more so because Lemonstar had been inactive for the longest of times so even as a deputy, he had the responsibility's of a leader. He had tried, desperately, to conversate with each warrior of the clan as often as he could, but there were many warriors of Skyclan, and many duties for him to do, and only one of Grousestar.
"Thank you Gingerwish." Meowed the tom in his usual polite manner before approaching the she-cat and settling down beside her, his emerald hues glancing up at the cherry tree and a grin spreading over his muzzle because even into leaf-fall like this, he still found beauty in it. Even when all of it's flowers and leaves were gone, there was beauty to this tree, just like any tree. Blinking a bit as he realized he was simply staring up at a tree, he looked back over at Gingerwish with mild curiosity, covering up for his slight aversion of attention. "So what brings you out into the territory today? You don't appear to be on any sort of patrol."
As he asked the question, he comfortably stretched out his forepaws, curling his brown tabby tail to his side and swiveling his head to focus his attention solely on her so that he would get distracted from anything else, like a bird, the canopy, underbrush, really anything could divert his attention if he wasn't careful of paying special attention to whomever he was speaking with.

"Let's go then!" Said Mistypaw eagerly, trying to get into the eager mood of going on a long walk. She just hoped her paws wouldn't hurt too bad when they got home. She picked up her pace to follow along after her curious mentor. Bramblestripe, relieved he was taking the lead now, gave a nod and followed after as well.

Skyepaw couldn't help but trail alongside her friend more than her mentor, it felt better to be next to one of the only friends she had, she couldn't help but be drawn towards her. Bramblestripe... might be a good friend if she could get a full sentence out without stuttering, she couldn't be that nervous about this? Glancing over to Aetherwing who had taken the lead she asked, "Do we expand our territory regularly?

The tom thought about it before chuckling and shaking his head, "You'd think we would, more territory means more room to hunt prey would be the big benefit, but for whatever reason we've always kept the territory markers where they are within reason. It's something you learn to just accept, I think the clan gets by just fine with the prey we catch usually." He didn't know what else to say, so Aetherwing remained quiet after that as they started out from camp, heading straight towards one of the edges of the territory.

"If we get too big," meowed Mistypaw with thought, "I guess it would be hard to protect the territory. Spread too thin, and then we're just asking for some rogue band or loners to come in and steal what we've claimed, and we wouldn't be able to protect it." The silvery she-cat shuddered at the thought of having to fend off some invading felines because they were greedy about how much land they wanted." Bramblestripe gave an agreeing nod as they walked along, not feeling like voicing an opinion just yet. "Has that ever happened? Have we ever had to fight off other cats?"

"True. But I have faith in Grousestar. He's energetic and stuff like that. That's a good virtue, because he can take on that right amount of stress for a leader, and could make us smile even at dark times. Like he did as deputy." Surgefrost explained. As they exited camp, Avocetrose said not a thing to the other warrior, in fact, she looked like she didn't even notice that she was there, she was completely ignoring her. Considering she wasn't even paying attention to the other cat, it was surprising that she heard the young warrior yell at all as the branch came swinging at the black in white warrior. Gasping out, Avocetrose had barely just enough time to duck and avoid the limb, but it did swing along her back, tugging out a clump of fur. Standing there for a moment, immediately she was filled with fury towards the other, her green eyes blazing and a hiss of rage escaping her as she whirled around to face the other she-cat. The older she-cat merely snorted at the mumbled apology, her tail continuing to lash with her anger. She thought about getting back at the younger cat before she simply huffed as she realized that the other female would probably go running off to the deputy saying that she attacked her or something mouse-brained like that. Whatever. I'll let her off with just a warning, but she better not do anything else stupid. Avocetrose scowled a bit as she watched the younger female go off ahead. This is the worst patrol ever, why did Auroraflame have to pair me with her? Now I'm probably going to get in trouble for not being with her. Stupid fluff-brained, crow-food eating.. Grumbling out, the black and white she cat forced her pace to speed up so the other warrior wouldn't get too far ahead of her considering that in a patrol, you were supposed to remain with the group of cats you are with, not split up. She jogged along at a decent pace, following the others scent trail before busting out with laughter as she caught sight of her tripping on a root up ahead, thinking in her head, That's what you get for trying to smack me with a branch you idiot!. Huffing out a bit, she continued jogging until she was right next to the other female. "Look, we're supposed to stay together, this is a patrol. Or are you still an apprentice and you just forgot?" The little bit of amusement that Avocetrose felt was gone and the scowl was back on her muzzle.

Grousestar was out on his usual daily walk through the territory, his tail raised high in happiness as was usual for him, that same cheery and delightful grin fixated on his muzzle and turning the corners of his lips upwards, his green emerald eyes eagerly sweeping back and forth as he surveyed the territory for nothing in particular, just enjoying the scenery that he had grown to love ever since the second he stepped paw into it as an apprentice and not a moon before. Nothing was particularly out of the ordinary as he stepped one brown furred paw after another, his whiskers quivering every now and again in delight as he recalled memories of his engraved in his brain that often made him happy or made him laugh. Perhaps that was one of the secrets to his perpetual and incessant happiness, or perhaps that's simply who Grousestar was and there was no trick with it.
Nonetheless, I digress. The brown tabby tom had to pause, a slightly confused look crossing his face as he heard a particularly strange noise come from somewhere nearby.. Strangely enough it almost seemed to sound like a mewl from a kit.. But there shouldn't be any kits out in the territory. Perhaps.. He was just hearing things? With a slight flick of his tail, the leader cleared his throat and went to pad off again before he heard another mewl and decided to go investigate. "Hello?" Meowed the tom cautiously, craning his head a bit and taking slow steps towards the direction he had heard the sound and quickly taking the scents in of the surrounding area. There was the smell of a kit.. All of the other scents were scents of the forest, but there was definitely the smell of a kit. Quickening his pace, he nearly stumbled over the pitiful heap of fur, his eyes going wide and a startled gasp escaping him as he looked down to see it. "What in Starclan's name- How did you get out here little one?" Craning his neck down he would give it a short sniffing over before coming to the realization that this kit wasn't of Skyclan, it must have been a rogue's or a loner's kit. How it got to be in his territory, he had no idea, but Grousestar wasn't the type of cat that would leave it out here to die, no he wasn't even close to being that kind of cat.
"Come on, lets get you to the nursery, I'm sure some queen will take you in."
Giving the kit's head a few licks, the brown tabby tom would them carefully take the kit's scruff in his mouth and promptly turn back to camp, moving carefully so he wouldn't hurt the tiny creature.

Auroraflame walked through the territory, trying her best not to make any loud noises in case there was prey around. Her ears were perked and attentive whilst her eyes looked around, searching for anything of interest. Food or foe. (See what I did there. XD). Auroraflame suddenly saw a golden pelt. It was to big to be a piece of prey but it could be a threat. Parting her jaws slightly, she tasted the air. It was a familiar scent, the scent of her sister. She walked towards the golden figure of her sister, the few leaves that lay beneath her feet crunching softly. "Hey there!", Auroraflame said cheerfully as LIoncry came into full view. It would be nice to twlk to her sister. If she remembered correctly, she had not talked to her sister or brother for a day or two. (Sorry it's short, writers block)

Lioncry thought she heard something following her and glanced around before quickening her pace. She tasted the air carefully, but she waswas upwind of it. Then the golden furred warrior heard a voice that was very familiar and turned around as Auroraflame came into view. Lioncry let out a soft, almost inaudible purr and padded over to her sister. “You scared me!” she protested, sitting down and wrapping her tail neatly over her huge paws. Lioncry was unfortunately rather on edge today, and a bit jumpier. She wasn't sure why. She just was. “Congratulations on becoming deputy.” she purred proudly. She was very happy for her sister, as she thought Auroraflame would make a very good deputy, and perhaps someday a very good leader. After all, Auroraflame seemed to have all the qualities for it. She looked up at the sky, then down at her paws, feeling rather uncertain of what to say. Perhaps some things are best left unspoken. She thought, twitching her tail in mild amusement. She often left mostly her thought unspoken, especially if she thought they might bother someone else.

As the leader had came over, fear filled the tiny kit, and she mewed as he picked her up. His loving, kind presence, however, made her feel somewhat calm, and even safe. She could not see Grousestar, but she hoped he was someone who would save her, rather than kill her.
(Mention Spirited Darkness in the Nursery, please ^^")

She snarled, standing back up. "Not much of a border patrol if we're no where near the borders," She scoffed, glaring at her, staring into her eyes. Her calico tail twitched irritably as she stalked off. She padded towards the border, mumbling to herself. Her tail lashed angrily as she glanced over her shoulder to make sure she wasn't too far ahead.

The she-cat ended up talking to herself towards the end, and she snapped her eyes back to the other molly. "Oh, uh, basically I have clan business I need to tend to." She dipped her head politely. "I'll be back later to check up on you, hopefully your eyesight continues to get better and you'll remember more of what happened."

Auroraflame laughed softly as Lioncry claimed she had been frightened by her. She walked so she was next to her and sat down, laying her black tail over her paws as well. "Thank you", Auroraflame purred, feeling a sudden wave of affection towards her sister, a one stronger then normal. She had always been glad to have her siblings. Despite those arguments that most siblings had. Her gaze was directed towards the trees that made up the SkyClan territory. With the comfortable silence, she took in the time to simply think. Like, her siblings. She wondered where their two brothers were. She hadn't seen Ferretnose or Sycamorebranch ever since the ceremony. She wondered what they were doing, she had never payed to much attention to what they did these days. She might have seen them doing something, her eyes focusing on them but not necessarily taking in what they were doing. "Have you seen Ferretnose or Sycamorebranch?", Auroraflame asked, breaking the silence. It would be something for them to talk about, and she was simply curious anyway.

Lioncry laughed as well, still shifting slightly, looking around. Trees swayed in a cold breeze that knocked off the leaves and chilled the air. The cold air always felt fresher than the warm air, that was fur sure. She looked back, curiosity aroused by Auroraflame's question. She honestly hadn't seen them much either, and was usually too busy with other things to have much time to talk to them. She blinked, wishing she had. She sort of missed those too, even though they were somewhere around here, whether it be in the territory or at camp, they were around. She flicked her ears, then spoke. “No, I haven't seen them around, but I'll let you know when I do.” she purred, feeling a rush of affection for all her siblings, her age or older. She wrapped her tail over her paws and hunched over slightly, fluffing out her golden brown pelt against the breeze. She hoped that leaf-bare would be here soon. It enticed all the birds that stay to fly down and dig under the snow, making them easier to hunt. She blinked, shaking her head, realizing that she'd kind of zoned out for a few moments there.

Mapledash ran across the thunderpelt, giving all he had into his back legs to push himself faster. A monster roared by as he cleaned the last of the thunderpath in a leap to the safety of the forest beyond. He was out danger, for now. He had barely made it out of the twolegplace with these darned rats, and his shoulder was really starting to sting. "How am I going to go back like this? I need help ..."

He walked painfully through the woods, looking around carefully for a place where his clan could escape the chaos that was now their routine. It's been half a moon that he left now, and he lost so much time in that twolegplace that he didn't even know how far he was from his home now. He winced as his shoulder remembered him how bad it was. It was definitely infected, and he wouldn't walk long now before he couldn't stand on it. He wished sagewhisker came with him in the end, but he didn't trust anyone back then, he couldn't risk it.

He padded further, trying to ignore his burning pain in his shoulder, when something familiar, but not quite familiar, hit his nostrills. "Scent markers?" he breathed, quite shocked. Did other clans live here? Bless starclan! Mapledash was revived, his strenght temporarily replenished as he saw hope lay in front of him. He padded onward, looking for sign of those cats who left the scent markers.

Lioncry waswas padding towards the border when an unfamiliar scent hit her nose. The large golden furred warrior paused. It was cat, but she didn't recognize it. It must be a rogue, loner or kittypet. She thought, though why any of those would bother coming into the territory if the knew they were just going to get chased off?

She turned to her Clanmates and blinked. She didn't want to fight this trespasser, but if that was what they were looking for, that was what they would get. She turned and pushed onwards until a tom came into view. Lioncry halted, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

She didn't say anything, but left that to her Clanmates. She knew they were probably better at giving cats warnings than she. She was too soft sometimes. Lioncry tilted her head cautiously, her pale yellow eyes bright with interest and suspicion. She didn't move though, but she considered speaking.
After a few moments, she swished her tail, passing it over dry leaves to create a slight rustling to catch the weary and battered tom's attention, then maybe she'd question him and send him off with a fair warning not to enter SkyClan's territory again.

"Far, about a quarter moon of walk towards where the sun rise. Though we had to make a ... detour." he meowed, half limping, half walking. Lioncry saw the tom collapse, and she moved. He had been leaning against her shoulder. She looked up, though reluctantly, she looked towards Cloudspots. “I'll do it I suppose if no one else is willing.” the tall golden furred warrior meowed. She was taller than most cats, and longer legged. She would be more useful running towards camp, and she could get there much sooner. Without a second thought, she turned. “See ya. I'm off to inform Grousestar.” she meowed, then turned and raced away towards camp. She didn't want to waste any more time, and she sprang up with every stride, almost housing like a deer as she ran, weaving through the trees and bramble thickets, careful not to take the longer ways, and leaping easily over any obstacle too long to go around, her pace barely touching the ground as she ran for the gorge, not stopping or slowing no matter what.

No, Grouse- that's not it- why can't you get what I'm trying to say? I don't want to have to do all this explaining, and it's so hard to get my point across- why can't I just say it out loud, what I really feel? As Grousestar called the two best friends, Rowanflower couldn't believe that his former mentor had no idea what he was talking about. Every minute, the tom got even more confusing- and that's why he felt these feelings, because even under these complex emotions, there was something about the leader which always made him seem interesting. He could always depend on the brown tabby if he was having a hard day, and there was nothing bad about him- it was almost like he hid all his flaws, that all of his innocence stood for something. "Grouse, it's something different than just being best friends, something even more strange and confusing, okay?" The ginger tom breathed as he began to run towards the bigger cat, wondering why he wanted to take this to the territory when he was just sunning so comfortably on those rocks- again with the confusion, with the extremities- I can't figure him out!
His paws dug into the floors of Skyclan's camp as he stood next to Grousestar, eyes shining with determination as the warrior didn't move from his spot- he had to say something quickly. He didn't have to keep it in his head any longer- he didn't want to have to hide anything he felt about himself anymore. "Grouse, it's something else, and it's bigger! I don't know how to describe it..."
"But some cats call it love."

Grousestar had truly been satisfied with his answer, that they were best friends, I mean what was better than a best friend? He had no clue! The tom seriously thought that that was the highest status some other cat could have relationship wise and he truly thought the conversation would continue with the ginger and white warrior agreeing with him and happy following him into the territory to go on a walk, best friend style.
But things just got more confusing as they stopped at the entrance to the territory, his paws itching to feel the territory racing beneath his paws but they were stopped because it was clear his answer of 'best friends' wasn't exactly what Rowanflower was thinking. When he heard Rowan saying that it was something different than best friends, something more strange in confusing and that left the leader completely lost, causing him to stare at his former apprentice with a tilted head and a clearly confused face.
"I'm... Not quite sure I follow Rowan!"
What in Starclan's name does that mean? I could have sworn that best friends was the best thing a cat could be to another cat. But he doesn't consider me a best friend? What does he see me as then? A father? No.. He seemed flustered or whatever when I mentioned family. Uhh.. Huh. Maybe he'll explain? I hope so because I really don't get what he's saying.. Jeez I'm a leader and I don't even understand what he's saying.. Is that bad? And his mind continued to ramble on and on, causing his emerald eyes to become sort of distant before he suddenly blinked and shook his head as he heard Rowanflower begin speaking again.
"... Love...? Right, that's what friends say when they care about each other enough. Pfft! So we are best friends! Hah, and I thought I had no clue what you were talking about, shame on you for confusing me!" He chuckled out with a purr, shaking his head before turning to walk off into the territory at a rather brisk pace.

Owlwing gave Lioncry a quick nod as she ran off to find Grosestar before she turned back to Cloudspots and the stranger. As the tom picked him up and started to carry him slowly back to the camp, the white tabby held onto Mapledashs scruff and made sure the injured feline didn't earn himself anymore scraps or scratches. Owlwing prayed Lioncry would return with their leader soon so everything would be under the proper control again. Without their leader or deputy, she could feel the awkwardness of the others trying to figure out what was best to do in this situation. Owlwing's ears pricked and twirled around as she listened hopefully for the familiar pawsteps... or any pawsteps at all.

Auroraflame padded theough the territory, her eyes and ears alert. She heard a noise, as if someone was running. Was it an intruder? Or simply a clanmate on patrol? Either way she decided to check it out. Walking forward, opening her jaws to taste the air, she could taste a scent. It was of her clanmates....and an unfamiliar thing. After walking a few more metres she saw Owlwing, Cloudspots and an unfamiliar cat. "Umm....Who's that?", Auroraflame asked awkwardly, staring at the cat that was hanging from Owlwing's jaws. She had definitely never seen this cat before. The cat appeared to be....passed out? Is that how you could describe it? Either way the cat looked injured.

You've got to be kidding me- why can't he just figure it out! This, it was quite frustrating- hearing him talk about this feeling of being best friends, when it wasn't the feeling that Rowanflower held in his heart- it was almost as if he didn't understand. He wanted to badly for the leader to know what he was talking about, to understand- but it hurt. Following after Grousestar into the territory, he tried to sprint as quickly as he could to keep up with the brown tabby who left him breathless, no matter where they were. It didn't matter if they were running or simply chatting, but it was an amazing feeling, really- if only there could a mutual understanding of what was really being felt. "Wait up, please!" That's not it! It's not just being friends, and it's not even being best friends, okay? You're older than me- why don't you know about this? It was just so hard to get mad at him, because Grousestar was such a great cat, and it might not even be his fault that he doesn't know about it.
"It's a different kind of love then friend love, Grouse!" He shook his head as the ginger-and white tom ran, his green eyes filled with a worry that he won't be understood. All he wanted was this, really- it was just something that he'd hoped for, to have this sort of love in his life ever since his mother left, and his family drifted further away from him. His former best friend, Brindlepaw, went missing, and he'd been left by himself, except for his one friend- Grousestar, then Grouseflurry. "It's love like mates or something! Y'know, more than best friends, like my heart cares more about you than anyone else! The type of mates to have kits and talk about their futures and say that they love each other!"

Owlwing spooked a little at the voice of their deputy. Although as soon as she was spooked, she calmed down and released the stranger. "We- We don't know" she stammered, staring at Auroraflame now. "Before he collapsed, he said he traveled for half a moon..." At least I think he said half a moon she added silently to herself. She was so caught up in the moment that she didn't realize she didn't pay much attention to what the tom-cat was saying. But at least Auroraflame is here now. She can take better control of this than we could, she thought thankfully to herself. Although right after that thought, something struck her again. Something that perhaps the deputy should know. "He did say he knew about Starclan," she spoke, the shock still lining her voice as well. It was without a doubt, one of the weirdest things that happened. A rouge... she assumed to call him... knowing about their ancestors. Although there was a lot to this story that needed to be told before anyone could jump to conclusions. For now, the patrol needed to get this tom-cat back to the camp.

The tom that everyone seems love to, has no clue about the emotion itself it seems, or has the definition of it all wrong which was strange, very strange for a tom of his age and to just be loved by so many, it almost didn't make any sense. How did he not know what love was? One of the most common emotions that almost every cat yearns for at least once in their life. And yet, he had not the foggiest of ideas about it, in fact, he was completely baffled and confused by whatever Rowanflower was trying to say, he thought he had a clue about what the other cat was saying, but then the ginger tom would simply say that it's not quite like that, leaving him confused once more. He glanced back at the young warrior as he told him to wait up, but for once, he didn't slow down, he was expecting Rowan to chase him, he had faith that the tom could catch up, he wasn't running his fastest, but he needed to run, it was a desperate urge inside of him to run, his energy overflowing and needing to be spent.
"A different kind of love? But isn't there only one type of love?" Asked the leader in confusion, glancing over his shoulder in his stark confusion, nothing that Rowanflower was saying was making any sort of sense to him. Huffing out in his confusion, he slowed his pace to allow the other cat to catch up a bit, stopping beneath one of the oldest tree's in the territory, his emerald eyes focused on the ginger tom racing to catch up.
"Yes, mates are the bestest of best friends, that's what we are, the bestest of best friends, right? Closest of friends Rowan. Why do you keep saying that I'm wrong then?" Sitting down, he would focus his attention solely on Rowanflower, it was painfully obvious that the tom truly had no clue of what he was talking about. But maybe... That innocent lack of knowledge of love, perhaps that's what let him run free without worry? It meant that he wasn't worried about confessing his feelings to a crush, worried about getting his heart broken, he was gleefully oblivious to the feeling. And yet, it could also be a downfall, what if he never knew the true, beautiful feeling of absolute love? To care about a cat so much that it felt like the world would crumble beneath your paws should the other be taken away, that feeling that you get when you're comfortably laying in the sun with them, having small talk, resting your head on them, knowing that you are their's and they are yours. Was it even possible to teach a cat love? If they were as clueless as him?

"...It's like the bestest of best friends, but then something a bit more, as if you simply can't be without them- like they're somebody you'll protect in a heartbeat if you have to, I think. Did you ever have parents? They... they were probably mates, I think." Rowanflower discussed, hoping that he'd see what he was talking about, his question. Please, please, Grousestar- maybe you know what they are, and maybe you don't get it- but there's nothing in the way of me teaching you- the student can become the teacher, and I can help you understand love, maybe. "Hey, it's not like you're wrong, it's just that you don't have the full story- because if you love somebody than that, it's bigger than any friendship out there. It's just something more, do you get me?" He sat next to Grousestar as well, letting out a deep sigh as the ginger-and white tom was glad to finally not have to run after his mentor- it was almost as if he was trying to run away from him- did I scare him in any sorts? I don't want to be scary- I just want to love him, and I just want to talk- why am I like this? It was almost as if he couldn't act even a bit normal, like the tom had to be awkward and shy all the time, that he couldn't just say it. All he wanted to do was ask one single question, but it was too hard for him, and it hurt the inside of his chest as he tried to take, eyes filling up with nervous fear as he spoke. Rowanflower didn't know what to say or what to do, or if he was going to make the right choice in front of this cat. Grousestar intimidated him, and it was hard to say that everything would end up being okay when you didn't know the future.
"A-And I was wondering if you wanted to be m-mine. Maybe. If you want. I-I-"

He was speechless.

"Huh..." Grunted out the tom with a small flick of his ear, brilliant green eyes glancing away as he thought over what Rowanflower had said to him, it sort of made sense to him, but truly, he couldn't make a connection to the words, he couldn't imagine anything better than happiness, it was like it was the only emotion that was in his life and he almost couldn't conceptualize other emotions, it was like it was impossible for him to feel anything other than happiness. But that's not true right? That was impossible for a cat to feel one emotion constantly... Right?
"Yes I had parents, they're not around anymore, but yeah.. They were mates. They were always around each other and talking and such, like good friends." Spoke the tom, looking back at his former apprentice, still not quite getting what he was saying.
"I... Still don't follow Rowan, it doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm sure you're right!" He purred out cheerily before looking up at the tree towering over them, only to slowly settle down on the ground and begin to lick a paw, eyes still focused on the other cat.
"Be your... Best friend? Bestest of best friends? Yeah sure Rowan! I'd love to be!"
He was so nonchalant about the whole thing, it was rather astounding, perhaps he didn't see the gravity of the situation, the weight it held. It appears poor Rowanflower would have a hard time getting through to Grouse just what exactly this was, and no one would blame him if he gave up.

"Not just best friend- Grouse, will you-" Taking in a deep breath quietly, his tail trembled with anxiety as he tried to form the right sentence, as the warrior searched for the perfect term to describe what he was really feeling now. He was so focused on finding what would be right that he didn't think much about Grousestar's perspective on the term, blurting out what he wanted to say immediately after he thought of it. "Will you be my mate?" That was all he had to say, everything he had to do- and no matter the answer, at least he was brave enough to go for it.
He didn't mind that Grousestar seemed so casual about it, but the two were very different in how they spoke all of a sudden, as if it was just a normal day for the brown tabby, whilst it was something that the ginger-furred tom had been looking forward to his entire life. It was a confession, a stolen word off of a page of a love story which ended in tragedy, ready to be rewritten into something with a happy ending.
Rowan wanted a fairy-tale life with an ending like no other, and had always strived for this idea of meeting the perfect one- but he'd never known until about a moon ago that he'd known that cat all along, that it was the cat who's taught him everything. It was Grousestar, and he couldn't hold back his feelings any further from him, as it was the truth.

He heard frustration in Rowanflower's voice and well, this only added to the older cat's confusion as he made himself comfortable beneath that old tree, his green eyes focused on the ginger and white tom as his tail quivered and a clear look of some form of frustration crossing his features.
Was it possible for him to become even more confused? Probably so. But he, for the most part hid it and dawned instead his normal cheery demeanor, a quiet purr escaping him as he simply watched his former apprentice try to form some type of words because his last sentence had trailed off.
And then finally he blurted out a question.
"Your mate?" Questioned Grousestar, his green eyes shimmering with that same confusion before there came clarity.
"Oh, yeah totally! I like to have a cat around to tell my day to, all of the stuff I did, play and joke around with, go on walks with, share tongues with, yeah, that sounds awesome, sure!" Grousestar busted out in a louder purr, stretching his forepaw's forward and closing his eyes.
The answer really just sounded like a good friend, that's what he thought a mate was anyways, just a really, really, really good friend that you could hang out with all the time and it wouldn't seem weird because you called each other 'mates', which was really just another term for 'the bestest of best, best friends'. But this time he didn't say that, in a way, it sounded like he was being truly genuine about being an actual mate, the one that loved and would one day hope to rear a family with. Though it would be up to Rowan if he believed that Grouse still wasn't at all clear on the whole 'mate' idea.

Coughing quietly, Aetherwing remained silent for a moment or two, thinking carefully how to word his response, or was he? "Well there's a few different instances that come to mind, but it wasn't really defending the territory, more just making sure that they respected our clan borders. I don't think our clan has even had to kill a cat so far. Perhaps I'm wrong in that judgement, just, there's lots of land around us, the loners have places to go hunt."

Skyepaw continued to walk alongside her friend, listening to the tom, he seemed all over the place, but it wasn't... bad? Aetherwing seemed to know what he was doing, and often just chose not to be a mature warrior. Was she wrong to judge him for that?

Slowly following along, Bramblestripe gave a nod of her head and instead seemed to be focused on the horizon, half expecting something to go wrong. She flicked her tail for her apprentice to stay close. Mistypaw however, was keen on keeping the conversation rolling, and frowned in confusion. "So, they just go elsewhere? There's better lands out there?" She looked to the south, and couldn't seem to understand what he meant. "I remember life being pretty hard when I was with my mother," she meowed, an ache in her chest forming at the memory of the russet furred she-cat. "This place is a thousand times better than that!"

As Grousestar spoke, she nodded and stood up, watching as he finished speaking and got up, then padded towards the camp entrance. Lioncry followed after the leader, her ears pricked cautiously.
She followed him, looking around, hurrying along beside him. She flicked her ears, then changed direction slightly, hoping he was following, as Lioncry was now in the lead, though she felt uncomfortable being in the lead, as she wasn't much of one to take charge, and was much better at following orders than taking charge. She sighed,
Weaving a twisted path through the trees, following her own scent trail, retracing her steps to hopefully find the others, Cloudspots, Owlwing, the strange tom, and whoever else had joined the escort. She sped up, hen looked back to make sure Grousestar was behind her. She peered ahead, waiting to make out the shapes of the others, but she was still too far away to see. Not nearly cllose enough to see them. They still had quite a ways to go as far as Lioncry knew, though they might've gained more ground than she'd thought. She wasn't sure quite how far they'd gotten.
“This way.” she meowed, taking a sharp turn and weaving around a bramble thicket, trying not to poke herself on any thorns or trip over any trailing tendrils. Her eyes were narrowed slightly in concentration as she lead Grousestar towards the patrol, her mind trying to remember where they'd been when she'd left.

Once making his way out into the territory, he would let the warrior take the lead since she knew where the group with the loner last was, his thoughts buzzing with all sorts of curious questions. Is he previously Skyclan? If not then how did he know about Starclan? Why was he injured? What did he want to see him for? Did he want to join the clan? All of these questions would hopefully be answered once he met the stranger.
The leader remained quiet as he followed along after Lioncry, his eyes somewhat glazed over as he mulled over all of the questions that filled his mind. And despite him not being fully focused, he followed along closely with her, not once stumbling or making a single mistake in his stride. After a little while of padding, he would reemerge from his thoughts and question the golden warrior,
"Are we nearly there?"

Lioncry looked over her shoulder at the tabby tom, her eyes slightly clouded with thoughts. “Nearly.” she meowed after a few moments longer of hesitation. As she spoke, she saw the others and halted, seeing that the ginger tom, who was the stranger, was laying limply on the ground once again and Auroraflame was there, speaking with Owlwing.
“There they are.” Lioncry meowed, moving forwards again, going over to greet them, though she hung back, letting Grousestar take the lead now, as he no longer needed her to guide him, and it made more sense for him to be leading now. Plus, she didn't want to be in the lead anymore, as leading wasn't something she liked much. She'd rather leave it to those who were good at it, and that was why Grousestar was leader and Auroraflame was deputy. They were both very good leaders, at least, she thought so.

Auroraflame opened her mouth, about to say something suddenly when she saw Lioncry arrive with Grousestar. "Grousestar. Lioncry", Auroraflame said, dipping her head in respective greeting. Turning her attention mainly to Grousestar, she said, "I assume you already know but Owlwing, Cloudspots and Lioncry have found this loner on our territory". "He's injured and not in a very stable condition. He needs to be taken back to camp and be treated by Ebonypaw", Auroraflame said, slight concern flashing in her eyes. The loner may be a stranger but that didn't mean she shouldn't care. She glanced down at the ginger tom that lay on the ground. What happened to him that put him in this state? And how does he know about StarClan?, Auroraflame thought. Many questions spun through her head that she wanted to ask but now just wasn't the time.

As soon as he saw the group, he nodded and immediately took the lead towards them, his tail held high and a curious smile placed on his muzzle as he looked directly towards the loner that the warriors were holding up, it was clear he was unconscious and would need to be seen by Ebonypaw before any speaking will take place, but he could speak with his warriors about any details that Lioncry may have left out in her rush to simply get him out here.
After looking over the unconscious loner, he would look instead towards his deputy, dipping his head in return before perking his ears up and hearing what she has to say.
"So I've heard, well.. Lets get him to Ebonypaw then, get him patched up and I'll ask him some questions, get things straightened out. Thank you all for handling this so well, but lets get going. Do you all need any help carrying him?" Questioned the leader, focusing on the stranger again before looking towards Owlwing and Cloudspots, waiting for their answer.
[Alright, for the sake of time, we're going to do a time skip of him being healed so that they can go ahead and begin talking and hopefully start the march sometime soon. Alright? c: ]

cloudspots nodded and stepped back, the dappled tom looked down at his paws ' he talked about his clan....is there more cats...more clans?...am I thinking too deeply about this, ha most likely....' the warrior thought and looked around him...' is there something bigger than us out there?' he thought then shook his head to clear his thoughts "don't be a mouse-brain." he muttered to himself then turned his sky blue gaze back up to grousestar, they shone with question, and a hint of fear.

Cucumberpickle dropped into a hunter's crouch his eyes on the prey, he couldn't remove them it was a big plum grouse. He crouched forwards and pounded biting it, he glanced down to pick it up in horror he saw his kit who died of greencough in his paws. He shook in terror then a mental image of his mate appeared screeching at him in fury for killing their kit. He started swatted and fighting her, seeing her fighting back his prey which appeared to him like his caught lay on the ground. If someone came they'd see him fighting air and shouting I'm sorry and a plump grouse near him. ( Someone see him)

RavenWhisker
(Im new, and this is just a small paragraph introducing my character,my writings will be longer than this,im going to bed and have school tomorrow, just letting you know )

Ravenwhisker sniffed at some roots and dense bits of grass here and there. He knew he smelled a rabbit and his eyes were keen on finding it. His ears pricked with curiosity as a bird flew swiftly overhead. He tried to keep his paw pads silent and his fur pricked at once when he saw a round tail bop behind a bush. Ravenwhisker lowerd into a hunter's crouch and slowly approached the rabbit. When he was close enough he pounced forward almost missing the prey as it tried to get a running start, but Ravenwhisker was able to bite down on the quick piece of prey and sit back relaxing. He licked his black fur and the single white paw he had. His eyes shined a bright blue as he stretched out, ready to bring his prey back to camp.

Whiskerfur saw Cucumberpickle fighting air, she chuckled," Cucumberpickle!" She sang with her high pitched voice that hurt his ears.
Suddenly his mate disappeared and it was just a dead piece of prey he blushed," Uhh..Yes Whiskerfur?"
Whiskerfur twirled her tail," Aren't we suppose to be hunting?" She cooed
He groaned, wishing she'd be assigned to the other patrol, he hated her and she flirted with him all the time.
Whiskerfur beckoned him away from the area," Cucumberpickle... I'm expecting kits." She said
He shrugged," So?"
Whiskerfur gasped," You loved yours why don't you care!"
He snorted,"Cucumberpickle only loves his mate and kin,"
Whiskerfur huffed," Fine I'll tell you, they are your kits also." She confesses
He gasps," Keep eating well, I'll help raise the kits and we'll pretend that we are mates to the kits!"
Whiskerfur nodded pleased," I want them to be all she-cats and look just like me!"
He muttered under his breathe," I hope they don't sound like you."

He padded with the rabbit swinging from his jaws as his tail went back and forth. His ears pricked as he heard two clanmates talking, he decided to ignore them and carry on. He smelled multiple prey scents and decided to hunt more since he had nothing better to do at camp, but nap or share tongues, in which he was not the type of cat much for conversation. He stretched and lightly buried his rabbit with a quick swoop of his paw. He heard a pitter patter and nearby a shrew was finding food by pecking at the ground. Ravenwhisker just simply cocked his head and went into a hunters crouch. He had a weird thing with birds, such as studying them and would make excuses not to hunt them. Ravenwhisker puffed out a grumpy sigh and the bird darted in the air. He finally decided to just to head for camp more and see if he would find any prey on his way there.

It wasn't too long with his rabbit in his jaws that he encountered a slim vole, it looked like it was a bit skinny, but it was better than nothing. He went slowly once again into a hunters crouch and sneaked forward. He almost made a leaf crinkle under his single white paw,but he continued to sneak forward without any problems. He darted forward and the vole actually wasn't very fast, so he caught the small creature with ease. His eyes flashed to another vole nearby, which was also skinny, but it darted off soon after he had gave it a quick look. Carrying both a rabbit and a slim vole in his mouth he headed straight for camp. Ravenwhisker hadn't eat all day because his appetite was being strange today. He felt as though he had eaten two whole hares this morning. He shrugged it off.

Auroraflame was padding through the territory, after recently having met a injured loner she was patrolling around seeing if there were any others that lay scattered throughout the territory. She suddenly caught a scent. A scent unfamiliar to her. She followed the scent and came to small clearing, in the clearing stood a cat. A stranger. Auroraflame immediately unsheathed her claws, her eyes narrowing. "Don't move a muscle", Auroraflame warned, ready for if the stranger attacked her. "Who are you?", Auroraflame asked, walking just a little closer.

The she-cat had a familiar smell, but she couldn't pinpoint why. She was an ebony-black she-cat with stunning blue eyes and a lithe body. "Oh, StarClan." She muttered. StarClan. The word struck Auroraflame. She knows too, Auroraflame thought, staring at the she cat. Although, she wasn't in as much shock because of the previous encounter with another stranger. This was strange. Two loners who both knew of StarClan had both stumbled across the SkyClan territory. Were there any others? "WindClan?", Auroraflame questioned. She had never heard of 'WindClan' before. And what was also strange was the fact that 'Sagewhisker', had a warrior like name. What in StarClan is going on?

So, after a moment's hesitation she finally said, "I'm Auroraflame". "You are trespassing on SkyClan territory and i'm afraid that I can't let you to any further", Auroraflame then said firmly. Sagewhisker sounded like a nice cat, but Auroraflame couldn't let her guard down. She wondered if she should take Sagewhisker to camp and show her to Grousestar. But then again, Grousestar might not approve of her dragging a stranger into camp.

"There's a lot more land out there than ours, as hard as it can be to think of it that way." Aetherwing murmured glancing around, chuckling quietly. His laugh petered off upon hearing her cut her comment seeming a little upset. "Well glad you enjoy it here, I.. hope the clan has been treating you and Skyepaw well..." quietly being reminded that the pair of apprentices were not clan born, he had actually forgotten that fact, it didn't seem to matter to him.

"It's been pretty good, I uhm, haven't really noticed much, maybe a little bit of special attention from some of the queens when I was younger... but not much really." The she-cat replied, her tail twitching about, the conversation seemed more exciting to talk about the difference between clan life and non clan life.

Mistypaw's ears folded back as she felt the terrible memories creep up her mind, claws firmly planting into her thoughts. "I..." she muttered softly, shuddering as she walked. "I miss my mother," admitted the apprentice, picturing Flare in their ragged nest. "It was hard, and we were hungry all the time, but I still miss her. It's so nice to feel safe," Mistypaw meowed as she looked at the horizon once more. "Before, I wouldn't know if I was going to eat or wake up in the morning, but here I don't worry." Green eyes settled on some tree, easily imagining it was the one she was born under. "It's wonderful to see my father every day too, he'd only be able to sneak away and visit every now and then. Everyone else in the clan seems so nice and accepting too. I just-" she cut herself off at that point, and lowered her head. Bramblestripe stared at her, and draped her tail over the apprentice in a comforting manner. Mistypaw winced at her, and ducked away. "Sorry," she uttered.

Leafmist was sitting down next to a creek, staring down into the bubbling water as she mulled over her situation. Next to her, two mice along with a squirrel lay, evidence of her hunt. I'll feel awful if I stay, but I'm not a good fighter... On top of that, battles terrify me, and I can barely help myself during them- let alone my clan mates and four other clans! But then if I stayed, and just sat back while my clan went out on a dangerous journey and fought, then I'd never be able to forgive myself when not all of them come back. The pale ginger tabby was no idiot, she knew some of her clan mates wouldn't survive. And if she stayed, no matter who passed she would feel crushing grief and guilt for the cats she could have saved. Leafmist shook her head, closing her green eyes with a sigh.
