Now,he felt extremely guilty for leaving Riverclan for a second time. To see his...mates face when he said he had to leave for a short period of time made his heart break. It had already been so soon after him attempting to leave for Thunderclan, that he was sure of the idea Whisperblaze leaving the safety of Riverclan scared him. But he knew why he was out here,he had to leave. He would be back, nothing bad would happen to him.

When that dream disrupted him that night he felt disturbed and unsettled, the images flashing in his head when remembering what he had seen. It had been a small male kit, shivering alone out here in these woods. His paws were beyond Riverclan safety, but it all felt so familiar. Even if the kit dream wasn't a vision, atleast he tried. He felt worry if it was true,to have such a young kit be alone in the late stages of leaf bare when there was more snow piling, and no den or mother to keep him warm. It only made Whisper more persistent to find this kit.

He let his paws wander, his ears perked for any sign of noise or movement. His bright blue eyes glazed the snow covered area, trees raw with no leaves as the chilled breeze ruffling his feathery pelt slightly. The forest he was in was unfamiliar to him,but so familiar at the same time from his dream. All seemed silent as for now all he could hear was his breathing, steam of fog coming from his nose and mouth as he continued walking.

The small, unnamed, kitten was lying in the snow. He had given up on trying to stay warm in the freezing temperatures of the snow, and it wasn't like he could call anyone for help. The grey kitten's tabby pelt almost blended in with the white of the snow, the short pelt doing nothing for the violently shivering kit. His breathing was slow, but heavy, as he tried to stay alive and not suffer from some kind of frostbite or hypothermia. He opened his mouth, as he had been periodically for awhile, as if he was trying to mewl or call for any kind of help. Though, no noise left his throat. The unnamed kit couldn't call for anyone and only hoped that his mother didn't mean to leave him here and would come back. The grey tabby was trying hard to keep his eyes open at this point, his violent shivering taking energy from him and making him tired. The small kit's short, wiry-like, fur was a bit damp from melted snow, but the dampness only made him colder. The longer he was out here let his body temperature keep dropping, allowing the dampness on his body to slowly start freezing over due to his body warmth not being high enough to keep it unfrozen and damp. The unnamed kitten began to slowly close his eyes as he lied in the snow, his mind wondering if this was it. Was the three moons he lived so far all he got to live? Was life really that cruel to a small, mute, kitten? So far, it seemed like it was.

It wasn't the earliest in the day,the sun didn't hang above him as high as it was when he had left his home early this dawn. It would become nightfall soon, but he did not want to sleep until his mind was put at rest. he couldn't bare to make himself a makeshift nest and rest while there may be the kit he saw, shivering to death in his dream. Maybe it was the father instinct in him. He never got the chance to be a father,he never had a moment to see his kits before they all passed away. he never got anything. To the drive to find this grey kit was the only thing he thought about. He didn't care how Russetstar would react to him bringing home a kit,if he didn't accept it,though he was sure he would,he would raise it himself. He would be the best father he could be. His eyes grazed upon the shivering kits finally, though his eyes squinted unsure. The kits color blended into the snow rather well,so he drew his steps closer to the shivering figure to make sure. Had this been the kit that he had seen?

The small kitten continued to just lie there, being too cold to try to move at the moment. His body was curled into a ball as to try to conserve what little heat he had in his tiny body. The kitten continued to violently shiver, his body freezing and dropping into a colder state by every second that passed. He had fully closed his eyes by now, the green-grey colored orbs shrouded in darkness as he let out slow breaths. Unknown to the freezing kitten at the moment was the fully grown tom near him, the cold that seeped into the kitten's body the only thing he could feel at the moment. He couldn't really notice the other cat at the moment, the only thing he knew now was the cold. If something wasn't done quick, the small kitten's last moments would have only been knowing nothing but the harsh and unforgiving cold.

Now he knew it was the kit he had seen in his dream. His paces grew faster, blue eyes focused on the shivering kit. When he finally made his way over to him,he was appalled by the scene. The scrawny looking kit looked like it had been out here for hours, their pelt wet by melted snow. He figured by the time it would take to transport him to a den,it would be to late. So instead,he simply sat down and curled around the small tom,his thick feathery fur providing as a heat source. He curled around him,his fluffed out tail lacing it's self around the others body. He bent down and began to press small soothing licks to the kit inorder to warm him, making sure his body was touching the kit inorder to give warmth. "Please don't die on me..." his voice was hushed, mixed with worry as he said it between licks. He would warm the kit up enough so that he could carry him to a den near by. He hoped he got there in time.

The kitten continued to shiver even as warmth from the new cat's fur and body slowly began to transfer into him. Though, the kit moved a bit and weakly pressed their body against the older cat. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew that warmth was slowly being transferred into his small, cold, body and that it felt better then the freezing feeling he had been feeling for who knows how long. The abandoned kit opened up one eye a small bit, seeing almost nothing but blurriness due to the ice frozen on his eyelashes and the odd feeling of slowly, but a bit suddenly, changing temperatures. Though, he did spot a greyish colored figure in the snow next to him. The small kit believed this was another cat who had come to save him, or maybe this was all a dream. Who knows, maybe he would wake up curled next to his mother and find out that everything was all a dream and the cat that had birthed him actually loved him even if he was a tiny mute kitten. Though, if this wasn't a dream, the kit felt happy to know that something cared for him enough to try and save him from his freezing death.

Blue hues focused on the other cat as he looked up at him. He bent down again, pressing licks to the toms forehead and face, and anywhere else he could reach, wanting to get any frost off of him. He was pressed as close as he possibly could without basically sitting on the kit, hoping his large body was giving him some heat. Was this the kitten I saw in my dream...? It must be,right? He hoped he was helping. He didn't know where the kits mother was but guessing by the condition, the kit had been left out here for Starclan knows how long. "My name is Whisperblaze, I'm here to take care of you now." his voice was quiet,as if speaking to loud were going to break something. Once the kit was warmed up he would find a den somewhere, and the following morning take him back to Riverclan if he couldn't find his mother. Should I go looking for her..?

The kitten closed his eye once more, lowering his head back down as he pressed it against the body of the older cat around him. Hearing those words, he seemed to calm as his shivering went down and down. The kit was slowly warming up and would soon be brought back from the death that had seemed to await him out here in the freezing snow. The grey tabby tom slowly curled up against Whisperblaze's body, burrowing into the older cat's fur as he did so. The cold kitten stayed quiet, not like he could actually speak, but continued to press against the other tom. He was still cold and freezing but the warmth from Whisperblaze was strong enough to make him slowly warm up. Of course, once the older cat moved away from him the kitten would be cold again. That's the only thing the abandoned kitten was dreading at the moment.

He continued to press warming licks to the kits fur, getting any remaining snow off of him. He watched the shivering go down and down slowly and was glad he was helping, resting his head on top of the small kits body for extra warmth. he didn't know how long he had been wandering, but his paws ached and it was slowly getting darker outside. Being out in the open wasn't something he was used to, used to being curled up in a closed in den and a nest. But he wanted the kit to be warm enough so that he could carry him and not have to worry. So he would wait patiently, not that he minded at all. "I don't know where your mother is but...I'll take care of you." is was hushed quiet words, more like a promise to himself. He had never gotten to meet his kits before they had passed, he had never had a chance to be a father. Well, now he did. And he sure as hell wouldn't mess up like last time. His head resting on the kits flank gently, making sure to not to put to much weight on the toms body. "You're safe now,I'm not going anywhere." he mewed as he saw the kit burry into his thick fur. He smiled, a small purr erupting from him.

The abandoned kitten had warmed up mostly, as it was still cold in the snow and that's still what he was laying on. His shivering had slowed to a soft pace and he seemed to keep warm with Whisperblaze's fluffy and feathery fur. The kit continued to press against Whisperblaze, wondering how long they'd stay out here in the snow. He wasn't sure what danger there was to being out here other than freezing to death like he just almost did, but the kit still knew that the older cat warming him up would most likely take him somewhere. Wherever it was, the unnamed kit was fine with it as he just didn't want to be in the snow anymore. He was cold and tired, just wanting to sleep somewhere out of the wet and frozen snow.

He felt a sense of ease feelings the kit warm up more and more under his touches. He didn't know how close the kit was to death before he had arrive, he had no idea where the kits mother was be she had seemed long gone at this point. He lifted his head off of the smaller tom, looking around. It was darker to say the least, the sun setting to create a hue of darker blues against the forest as the sun was slowly turning into the moon. He shifted the kit off of him for a moment, before bending down and picking him up by the scruff. As a kit there was extra skin there, so he wasn't hurting him, making sure his teeth didn't dig into the kits skin to much as he carried him. Blue eyes scanned around for a place to rest, and his paws started moving, looking around for a place he could make a possibly shelter for the night before he had to return to riverclan the following day.

The small kitten let out a breath of air as he was picked up, seeming to be tiredly huffing as the warmth of the older cat's body was taken away from him. Though, he didn't protest against Whisperblaze picking him up as it was still better than being in the freezing cold of the snow. Shivering still, the abandoned kitten let himself dangle from the scruff of skin on his neck. It seemed to be like he was brought back to life almost, his body not as still as it had been and his breathing steady now. The grey tabby kit had still uttered no word or sound, despite looking old enough to know how to speak and of course he should know how to give any voicing noise. Though, he hadn't yet. It could be because he was scared and cold, but you'd have to wait to find out and see.

He kept his paws moving,he wanted to find a place that would be safe for the night. He didn't want the kit moving to much, seeing as he'd have to move his head a to to look around, so he looked back and shifted a bit, placing the unnamed kit on his large back instead. "Hang on lil one." his voice was soft, as he turned back forward and looked for anything that could be a makeshift den. Blue hues came across a fallen tree,no snow or a drop of moisture seemed to be under it. He padded closer, smiling a bit as he found the place. There was moss and feather stuffed between the roots of the tree, slipping his small paws in to get them out, careful to keep his balance to keep the kit on his back comfortable. Moving quickly, he shifted the moss and feathers to make a more over sized nest for him and the kit, turning his head to pick the kit up again and place him into the more dry, warm nest which was better then snow. He noticed the kit hadn't spoken at all which was shocking, not one mew. "Do you have a name?"

The small grey tabby kitten buried his body into Whisperblaze's back as the older tom placed him on his back. The kit burrowed into the fluffy fur of the male, hoping that by pressing close he wouldn't fall from the cat's back and onto the freezing cold ground. He waited it out, pressing closer as the cat moved his paws to pull out moss and make a nest in the dry place under the tree. The silver-grey kit gave a soft squirm, not too much to make sure there wasn't trouble for Whisperblaze, when he was picked back up though. Being placed in the new, makeshift, nest, the unnamed kitten curled up. He blinked at the older cat's question, looking up with greenish-grey eyes that shimmered as he stared. Not speaking, as he couldn't, the kitten thought through the question. Shivering, his thoughts went a little off track for a moment before he came back into reality and shook his head slightly.

It's at that moment he noticed the kit hadn't spoken the whole time, from the moment he had found him to when it came to asking him about his name. His eyes softend, and he gave a small smile. "No need to speak - it's alright," his voice was sincere, soft and accepting. He didn't need the kit to speak if they couldn't or didn't want to, he would never force anything that couldn't happen. He would love him just as much. "I'll give you a name, your name will be Shiverkit, for your shivering of course, not that it's a bad thing. It makes you who you are." he smiled a bit more, pressing a soft lick to the kits forehead. He pulled away, looking back at the entrance of the den,"I will be right back,I'm going to go catch us something to eat so we don't go hungry. I'll be back soon,I promise." his tone was sincere, not wanting Shiverkit to think he was abandoning him,or leaving him just as his mother had.

The now named kitten gave a small breath of air as an answer to Whisperblaze. Shiverkit wanted to show some kind of gratitude for his new name, liking the sound of it even though he'd never be able to say it out loud for himself. The grey tabby shuffled a bit as the older cat began to step away, almost as if he was going to stand up and try to run over to the other tom. It was as if Shiverkit had thought the new cat who had just saved him was going to abandon him like he had just been. Though, hearing the reassuring and comforting words coming from Whisperblaze, telling Shiver that he wasn't going to leave him alone once more, the kitten settled back down. His green-grey eyes shimmered as they seemed to almost silently, but quite adorably, bore holes into Whisperblaze himself. It wasn't like he could do anything else but stare; his body language undeveloped and his speech nonexistent.

Whisperblaze stood up, once against shifting the kit so he would be warm in the nest without him. He slipped out of the makeshift den, blue eyes wandering around. Snow was melting around him, puddles forming around the ground and becoming mushy under his paws as he walked. The wet place would hide his scent well. He opened his maw, mouth watering for any scent. He was very good at hunting, not just fish even of he was simply a riverclan cat, but also very skilled at hunting on land. He caught the scent of a mouse, following after it with small steps as he paced after it. Blue hues caught sight of the creature quickly, the rodent nibbling on fresh new green leaves at the bottom of a tree. He was close, his light fur blending in toe the left over snow(very little) that was still on the ground. He stepped forward, as quiet as could be, weight on his back paws to make him seem weightless as he purged forward, mouth watering. Her then pounced, claws out stretched for the prey and it squeaked in protest, though went silent at the impact of his paws. he gave a killing bite just in case, not wanting it to suffer. He picked up the prey, a satisfied smile on his face. His stomach felt even more empty now. The mouse was pretty plump, as if must've been kept away during the winter as most animals were during the cold, for hibernation. He made his way back to the den, back to Shiverkit. He had a name now. Anyway, he slipped into the den, a smile on his face. He didn't know the last time the kit had eaten, and he was frankly worried because of that, seeing as the tom looked pretty skinny. He placed down the mouse infront of the kit as he settled himself down back to where he was before, snugged close to the other to reassure he was warm. "Go ahead and eat, you must be hungry." he smiled, motioning his head to the mouse. He would eat the leftovers of the mouse, and he didn't mind if there wasn't much left after that, seeing as they were going to Riverclan the following morning, he could eat there. His mind wandered to what Russet would think about this kit, they had only recently became mates, would he want to start a family so soon? Would he accept the kit as his own like Whisper had already, imprinting on him? He didn't care. He knew Russet too well, and knew the Riverclan leader would accept his kit as his own, and perhaps his (step) daughter Shellkit would enjoy spending time with Shiverkit aswel. Plus,is Russet didn't accept him (though he doubted it) he would take are of Shiverkit himself on his own. He already felt protective of the small kit, from seeing him shivering cold for starclan knows how long. He nudged the mouse closer.

Shiverkit waited in the corner of the makeshift nest as Whisperblaze left to go hunt, his body curled up to preserve what little heat his body mustered up from just going out his day-to-day basis. Even though it wasn't too cold, it was cold enough that Shiverkit and his short-furred coat couldn't stop themselves from being cold. The silver-colored kitten pushed softly at the moss that made up the nest with his small paws in a fit of boredom and to not fall asleep before the older cat came back with a meal for the two of them. The grey tabby slightly looked up when the RiverClan warrior came back from hunting. His small nose picked up the scent of the dead mouse and he shuffled a bit, hunger getting to him. He didn't exactly go to eat the mouse when Whisperblaze set it down first though, seeing how he thought the older cat would start eating first. Of course, Shiverkit had always been the last to eat anything back before his mother decided to leave him in the snow. He still didn't know if the molly who gave birth to him would ever come back for him. Shiverkit kind of hoped she would, but also deep down he didn't. He didn't know if he could survive with that she-cat, though he felt like he'd have a great place and a nice life with this other tom. Once Whisperblaze nudged the dead mouse closer to Shiverkit is when he got the signal that it was his time to eat, even if the older tom hadn't taken one bite yet. The small kitten moved a bit closer to the freshkill to eat from it, quickly scarfing down small bites as he was starving. Though, he seemed to leave a bit of the mouse for Whisperblaze. He may be hungry, but the kitten wasn't going to just leave the other cat without food.

Whisperblaze smiled as he watched the kit eat, glad to finally see the tom eat. To him he was skin and bones basically, and was rather worried for his health. But they had a talented medicine cat,and he was sure he could be looked at. When he noticed the kit stop eating,he noted that he was leaving some for him. He was bigger, having more weight on him then the kit, and ate before he had left Riverclan territory. He could eat when he arrived back,he was sure the kit was very hungry, and wanted him to eat a full proper meal if necessary. He shaked his head softly, still smiling. "You go ahead and finish it up,Shiverkit. I'm not hungry." he replied softly, nudging the mouse back to him. He let his blue eyes wander around the den for a moment, thinking. He looked back at the tiny cat,"Would you like to come home with me?" he asked a simple yes or no question, wording it carefully so if he wanted he could simply answer with the shake of his head. He wondered if the kit wanted to go with his mother. If so,Whisperblaze would stay out here as long as he need to find the mother if thats what he wanted.

Shiverkit seemed to almost devour the rest of the mouse at the signal from Whisperblaze saying he wasn't hungry. The small kit seemed to almost choke on the bones in the body of the fresh kill that he had ate, seeing how he choked down a few of the sharp pieces. The grey tabby seemed content now that his small stomach was full of the flesh from the mouse. Curling up, the kitten looked up at Whisperblaze with his green-grey eyes. The soft look in the orbs showing that the kitten had heard the older cat and was thinking about the question. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go with this cat he barely knew. Sure, the male had given him food and named him but would he continue being kind? His mother on the other hand was his birth mother... but she didn't care for the kitten. Shiverkit knew this, but he still wasn't sure. It took a bit longer for the grey tabby to think about where he should go before he gave a soft nod, telling Whisperblaze that yes; he did want to go home with him.

Whisperblaze looked outside for a moment, then back at Shiverkit. He gave the biggest smile he could muster, and leaned forward to press a few happy licks to the kits forehead,¨Oh Im so glad-you are going to love it in the clans,¨ he thought about how he was going to introduce Russet to their new part of the family. He stopped for a moment,¨Though when you are older, and if you ever want to go find your mother, I wont stop you, alright? I wont stop you if you ever want to find her again.¨ He didnt want the kit to be unhappy if clan life wasnt for him,he wanted him to feel comfortable. ¨The place we need to be isnt to far from here actually, we could make it there before sundown.¨ he mewed, standing up and stretching, arching his back and cracking it in various places. He was happy to see the mouse had been eaten, glad to see the small tom actually eating, it made him less worried about his health. He knew he needed to be seen by their medicine cat when they go home, but he just wanted the young cat settled in for the night and to actually sleep in a proper nest where it was warm against the elements, and safe. He didnt know what was out here in these parts of the woods, and he frankly didnt want to find out. He shifted and lifted the kit up again carefully, not wanting to hurt him, and place him back on his back. he figured carrying him for to long would maybe hurt him, seeing as hed be using his teeth. He shifted a bit so the kit was balanced on his back, and slipped out of the den to Riverclan.

(ah alright)

The mute kitten felt odd as Whisperblaze licked his forehead, never having someone lick him so happily as this cat had just done. Though, he was happy that it was just the tom's tongue and he didn't decide to use teeth or claws on his forehead. Listening to the tom's slight ramblings on how if he ever wanted to find his mother he could, Shiverkit nodded softly with a huff of air. It wasn't like the kitten really cared for his mother and most likely didn't want to see her again, seeing how this would become a new life for him; possibly, a better life for him. Though, Shiverkit could see how he'd ever want to find his mother, just to see where he came from or if any of his other relatives, siblings or not, were alive and well. Still, for now the kitten thought this could be nice to be away from his mother. Being picked up and put on the tom's back was still a new feeling for the male kit, though he didn't move this time and seemed to hold onto Whisperblaze's back unlike last time. The grey tabby nuzzled a bit into the older tom's fur, finding it as warm as it had been when he was freezing in the snow. It was a nice feeling, and Shiverkit would most likely always love that feeling.

Whisperblaze was alone. Back to the place he had found Shiverkit. He already missed the kit greatly, silently grieving for the little tom he wished to be his son. They had just arrived to camp when the queen had announced him dead. From both the cold and lack of food at the time, Whisperblaze was to late. He wouldnt tell Russet that he died just yet. Russet had to deal with Shellfeather coming back, and alot more. Just general leader duties. His face hurt from crying, lungs ached for air as he let out small breaths. To him, Shellfeather had every right to have Russet. If she asked to, hed understand. And hed understand if Russet were to leave him. The thought scared him to the bone, made him choke out another dry sob, no more tears willing to run down his face. He should have expected something like this to happen honestly. Life was too good for the one thing he loved most to possibly be taken from him. Im just some loser. I shouldve never came back. Im just wasting his time- His thoughts were cut off as he got a wif of something.

Smalls ears flicked at the sound of paw-steps. Initially believing that it might just Birch, Laurel or maybe Cedar the kit didn't really react. He gave a small yawn and nuzzled the makeshift nest he was laying in. The tan and white kit was tired. The heat made it hard to sleep sometimes, though at night it could become a more barely weather. Though the weather did make his tired no matter what the time was. He nuzzled the nest again, but at the same time stretched out in an attempt to cool down a bit. Of course, it wasn't the hottest it could be. It was still a bit eaily in green-leaf but the kit wasn't use to the sudden change in weather, with the heat growing each day.

After some time of tossing and turning, the green orbs flickered opened. The kit remembered the noise he had heard earlier and decided that maybe he should check it out. Although he was young and wouldn't be able to fight anything off if it happened to be a threat, he did still wish to check it out in case... besides, the kit was bored and couldn't fall asleep. Clearly sleepy, a small kit warily made his way out of the nest and headed towards the noise. Locust stopped and blinked as his orbs landed on a silvery cat that seemed much bigger than him. The kit became hesitant as watch the tom.

Locust gingerly slipped out of the shadows. He wishes to greet the older tom, yet at the same time wasn't sure about him. Though so far he didn't seem like any kind of threat. As the kit drew closer, a small frown grew across his face as he realized that the stranger looked saddened. "Why are you sad?" The young kit squeaked, looking up at Whisperblaze with innocent green orbs. Seeing him so sad caused the kit to become more sympathetic and even relaxed. Whisperblaze seemed to... volunable in his depressed state.

Cedar had barely noticed Locust leave the nest. Just a few days ago, the ginger and white tom had stumbled upon the nest of kittens. He kind of just snuggled his way into their lives and stayed put the last few days. There wasn't much else they could do right now. They couldn't hunt for themselves, they needed each other for warmth and they needed each others ideas. So really, Cedar just fit right in with the other kittens. Returning to the original subject at hand. Cedar at that moment was focused on something scuffling across the ground a few paces away from the nest. It was a rather large beetle. The kit was obsessed with bugs. So, it was no surprise when this beetle came along, he didn't notice anything else. He didn't pick up on the new scent in the area and he certainly didn't pick up on the noises happening just a few tail lengths away. No. Right now, Cedar's gaze was locked on the beetle. The way it hobbled over the uneven earth. The way it paused like it was searching for the right direction. The way it reacted towards its environment. There was nothing that intrigued him more. Cedar had even gotten up to his paws and took a few paces forwards, zoning out the conversation occurring behind him now. Those few paces brought him towering over the black beetle and slowly, he inched out a tiny paw and boped it. Cedar quickly scurried backwards as the hard outer shell surprised him and the beetle rolled onto its back.

Dozing away in her nest quietly, Laurel wasn't exactly paying attention to what the other kits she lived with were acting like. In fact, she always liked being alone, and resting like this was always something she enjoyed. She was a rather private cat who enjoyed making friends a bit out of the ordinary, cats she usually wouldn't get along with. It was strange, but she was argumentative and a bit odd by herself. The pawsteps hadn't exactly woken the kitten up just yet, and she was so hungry that she didn't have a lot of energy to do anything but sleep. The kit had been here for quite some time, and she was extremely malnourished- she couldn't yet hunt for herself, and even if she could, she didn't have enough energy in her body to bring herself to do so. Her new 'roommates' were a bit of a comfort to her, but she was still so absolutely tired. Breathing in and out quietly as she murmured to herself, the kitten opened her eyes softly as she gazed around the den.

Suddenly, she heard the footsteps- they were soft, but she didn't care for finding out who they were anyways. Settling her head back down, the kitten didn't have the energy to do so. All she wanted to do was rest. woly Suspiciousmindz Hexict SpiralTheRival

Blue hues looked up when he saw a kit was talking to him. This was around the same place he had found Shiverkit. There were more here already? He gave a small sniff and a gentle smile. "Its nothing, Im alright." he didnt want the kit to worry about his personal life. Cricketpaw had left him to go check out a border she smelled something on, he didnt mind. He loved kits though, he loved the idea of being a father. Even with his...body he was infertile. These kits seemed to be all alone. It brought back short moments he spent with his mute son, Shiverkit. He had passed away asoon as they got into camp, but he would never forget that warm feeling of being a father, even if it was short lived. There seemed to be four kits total, his eyes scanning the area. "Who left you guys alone out here?"

Birch started shuffling around in her sleep, feeling discomfort in her stomach. What was this feeling? Something felt off... She stretched out a leg and felt around for her nest mates. Her pad touched the soft fur of one kit but as she felt around for the others there was nothing but emptiness. The kits eyes shot open and she quickly rolled up and onto her paws, immediently awake. Cedar and Locust are gone! They weren't her littermates but she had grown a connection to all of them, even Cedar who had only recently wiggled into their little group and she felt as if it were her job to keep them safe. Birch nudged Laurel to try and get her awake before she started to creep out of their den, seeing the tom and Locust.
A high pitched growl started rumbling in her throat as she got closer to inspect the stranger. All the while her little tail lashed side to side in suspicion.

There seemed to be four kits total, his eyes scanning the area. "Who left you guys alone out here?"

Noting his sniffle, the small kit titled his head. The saddened tom reminded Locust of his mother back when he use to live with her - which in all honesty was not that long ago. His birth had brought sadness to her since it prevented her from being with the tom that she loved, so he became accustomed to the look of sadness. The melancholy expressions in a cat's gaze had become a normal sight for the smaller tom, though he didn't truly understand sadness - even after his mother left him, he was still young and hadn't been too sad when she had left, instantly seeing the other kits around as his new family whom he loved dearly.

But if the to insisted the he was alright, then the kit simply believed him. Locust them smiled up at Whisperblaze. "Well that's good!" The kit mewed, taking a more pleasant tone now. The kit was happy that Whisperblaze claimed he was alright, even though the kit understood what it looked like to be upset, but he also didn't understand lying and believed a lot that others told him. He was still young, and even though he was curious the tom didn't go looking for things and wasn't one to push on a matter - but that might mostly be due to the fact that he just believed what Whisperblaze told him without a question.

Tilting his head Locust gave a questioning look up at Whisperblaze. "When I got here, Birch, Cedar and Laurel was already here," the kit began, thinking about what had lead him to this clearing. "I came her not that long ago. After my mother left me I went to go find her, but I never did, instead I came across this clearing and that's when Birch found me and even gave me a name," the small kit smiled up at Whisperblaze with innocent green orbs. The kit had been the only one in his litter and his mother hadn't even bothered to name him. But he loved the name that Birch gave him, it made him feel like he fit into their little family and it made him feel like his name was worth more since it was Birch who gave it to him.

The kit blinked as he realized something. "Hey, my name it Locust!" Striped tail curled up as he announced his name happily. "What's your's?" The kit shifted his paws as he tried to stay still. It seemed as if his sleepiness had washed away upon meeting Whisperblaze, and now he wished to know more about the mysterious tom. "And why are you so big?" The only adult he had ever met was his mother, and so to him Whisperblaze was a giant. "Oh, and why do you smell so weird?" Locust's nose wrinkled as he caught his first scent of fish from the warrior, not even knowing what fish was.

The kit didn't mean for the questions to come off as harsh, and his eyes still twinkled with innocence.

Cedar was too caught up in the bug; well it was a beetle if you wanted to be technical. The black beetle was so intriguing to him. It was odd, but the moment a fishy stench filled his nostrils, the ginger kitten scrunched his nose. A disgusted look filled his eyes. "Eww!" he squealed, sitting up and wrapping his tail around his paws. His amber hues searched for the source of such a smell and it landed on a large feline. "Why do you smell so bad!" Cedar called, not really thinking about being polite in that moment. In fact, he was just blurting the first thoughts that came to his mind. It was how most kittens were to begin with. This large cat didn't frighten him, Cedar was too trusting of other cats to be cautious like that. He didn't know any better in that moment. The scariest thing he had ever encountered was a human. He didn't want to go through that again, though that was how he had stumbled across the two kittens that were here before him. Cedar lifted a fore-paw and covered his tiny pink nose with it to be more dramatic about the fishy smell. That was a new one to him and he didn't like it. Not one bit! Soon his amber hues landed on Locust then on Birch. The kit was talking to the stranger and the other was laying in the nest. "Locust! Birch! We have to find flowers! This cat needs to smell good again!" he exclaimed to his companion, leaping to his paws instantly.
