how do i talk in the chat box?

i'm trying to talk in the chat box but i can't speak there, it tells me to look on the profile link, so i do, i don't see anything that helps me registers my name, and if i do i must be blind lol
can someone help?

please enter your username in the 'name' box and then click the profile link! it should allow you to register.
