Posts: 1920A piece of the river and covered almost entirely in tall grass, this area is usually avoided in fear of adders. The tree coverage here is spotty, plenty of sun rays lighting the area, but good luck finding a nice rock and a clearing to bask in.

Posts: 1920Rain had padded all the way to the den Theo helped her dig out. She plopped down into the bit of moss she managed to gather in such an area and closed her eyes. She just wanted to sleep, to pretend that all this turmoil was just a bad dream.


After Theo left the kittypets, he slowed his pace, knowing that Rain had probably retreated to the nest he built for her. He muttered to himself, "Resorting to a kittypet, I thought this would be easy, if not disgraceful. That lot is going to be trouble if they keep showing up, but I'm sure I got my point across, Rain is mine." He pushes out of the grass, finally reaching Rain. She looked pitiful. "Hey, you alright?" he mews, tilting his head.


Rain opened her eyes, then sat up to face Theo, "No, but I will be." She stands and pads to his side. "You'll teach me everything, like you promised, right?"


"Of course," Theo purred, "As long as you can take care of me in return. I'm starting to get too old to be on my own." He showed the utmost sympathy for Rain, seeing what she had to do to be here with him, but inside, his sinister smirk only grows wider. I won't fail this time, after all, what reall threat is a bunch of kittypets?

Everything feels like it's running into eachother, it doesnt even feel like ive ever slept, continuing my training in my dreams.\\ Rain lies awake in her den one night, thinking to herself. //Im alive, thats all thats really importaint.\\ She sighs, as well as she's been practicing and providing for both herself and Theo, she still cant shake her worry over Melody's concern. Finally, she gets up from her nest and gets in a good streatch before heading over to Theo's den. She's only ever been over there once, and he didn't even let her in, perhaps he's just a quiet old crow. "What brings you here?" Theo asks from behind as Rain neared his den. Startled, she turns quickly, "Theo! I...just wanted to talk." "About what?" Theo mewed, padding past her to return to his home, "Your training can wait till morning." Rain shook her head, "It's not training, it's..." she paused. Theo, a paw already in his den, turned his ears to her in wait. Rain resumed, "How are you?" Theo turned and faced her, "You know already. Rain, what is this about?" Rain looked to the side a little, "Just...wanted to ask." and she turned away to head back. Theo smirked, "Your lonely, arent you?" Rain paused and looked back, her eyes answering his question. "Come on, we can talk where it's warm." he flicked his tail beckoning her to follow. This is what Rain wanted, though she didnt know how to take it, guess she has to stick with her original thought, one pawstep at a time. Posts: 1920Rain opens her eyes, the sunhigh rays blinding her for a moment. She lifts her head out of the light and streatches, stifling a long yawn. Looking around, she almost didnt recognize where she is, but the scents are familliar, as well as calming. She still wasnt used to it, sleeping with Theo every night, but it settled well with her after learning how lonely he is. Speaking of, he wasnt around now, probably out to catch some freshkill for them again. Strange how he seems to be much more active than when they first met, when he seemed like he couldnt even hunt for himself. Rain purred and padded of the den, sharpening her eyes to adjust to the light. There he is, comming back with a couple mice in his maw, he certaintly doesnt look as helpless as he claimed. Posts: 567Shade trotted nearer to the territory. He sniffed around the riverbed checking for familiar scents. The young tom was around 10 moons now and was very efficient at getting himself around. He glanced behind him to make sure Ash, Mountain, or Mint had followed him. When he was sure the coast was clear, he continued forwards till the river gushed around his paws, gently tickling the fur on his belly. He swept his brilliant blue gaze around searching for signs of life. He caught a flicker of movement up ahead and dropped low into a hunters crouch. His dusty orange fur blended in nicely with the tall grass and reeds around him. He was about a tail length away when he bunched his muscles and pushed off landing squarely on a vole. The down side was that he went skidding almost right into the paws of Theo.

Posts: 2783Rain staggered into the territory. The young kit was super thin. You could practically see her ribs through her pelt. Her pelt was ragged and her fur was dirty and messy. She needed shelter and food soon or she wouldn't be alive much longer. The collasped onto the ground near a tree and lay still.

Posts: 1920Sheol emerges from Theo's den with a wide yawn. She hardly sleeps in her own anymore. it's been almost a quarter moon since she entrusted herself to Theo and already she feels they are bonding well. This morning, she feels like hunting for herself. Even though Theo is out hunting and there's already a mouse or two in the den, she feels being spoiled like this takes away from the experience she longed for. After a quick bath, she pads off to catch whatever she finds, looking to impress her teacher. After bounding over a few obstacles, she halts at a new scent reaching her nose. She stalks over and sees a kit near the base of a tree, obviously a trap, Theo warned her about the extremes some loners go to take prey and territory. She padded around under the brush to see if anyone else is lying in wait, but after making a lap and finally getting a good look at the kit, she panicked and dashed to the kit. Sheol sniffed the kit and looked around once more for any other signs of life. Theo never told her what to do in an actual emergency, so out of her need to help the dire kit, she gingerly picks her up by her scruff and makes hastell back to the den. 'Theo is going to flip when gets back.' she thought. Back to the den, she puts the kit in her nest and tries to think. Posts: 2783Rain had been passed out the whole time. She had lost most of energy and hadn't slept in such a long time, so her body decided to make the move to make Rain pass out. While she had been passed out she hadn't known that Sheol had taken her to a safer place. Rain was soon coming back into reality and noticed an interesting smell. Mouse? Rain thought, her eyes still closed. I must be dreaming, she thought. The little kit hadn't smelt mouse or any prey in that case for the past few days. Slowly, Rain dared to opened her eyes. Not moving her head she used her eyes to look around and saw that she was in some sort of den. She also noticed she was lying in a nest, that there was a mouse in front of her and the thing she noticed the most was there was a full grown she cat crouching in front of her. Wait what? Suddenly Rain shot back away from the she cat only to groan as that cost her quite a bit of energy.

Posts: 2783Should I trust her? No I shouldn't. But i'm so hungry! But what if she poisoned the mouse? No she doesn't seem like the type of cat who poisons kits. But she might be tricking me! But I need to eat! Rain debated with herself. Oh just eat it Rain! She thought, getting tired of this debate she was having eith herself. The little kit timidly walked forward, sniffing the mouse carefully before finally deciding it would be safe to eat. She took a small bite and chewed. It felt weird to be chewing something, she hadn't eaten for quite a while after all. She swallowed the piece of mouse and immediately felt relief in her stomach. She moved forward and slowly ate the other pieces.

Posts: 2783Rain gobbled down the pieces, one by one, the hole in her belly quickly filling up until it was there no more. "Thank you" Rain said shyly. After debating with herself once again whether she should tell the stranger her name or not she finally agreed. Afterall she had just trusted the stranger enough to eat a mouse that for all she knew could've been poisoned. "I'm Rain" The little grey she cat said finally.

Posts: 1920"Someone?" Sheol tilted her head. Thank goodness there is at least someone Sheol thought. She couldn't help but to compare herself to the kit, after all, they shared the same name.


The bush branch hiding the den snaps back into place as Theo pads in with a rabbit in his maw. Startled by his sudden, unnoticed entrance, Sheol jumps a little, looking right at his eyes to see if she could tell what he was thinking. His expression looked scary and remained so even after glancing over to Rain in her nest. Sheol had gotten used to his always serious behavior.



It was still and quiet for a moment, just a slight breeze and chirping birds.

Posts: 2783Rain jumped as well. There standing at the entrance, with a rabbit in his jaw was Theo. Rain tried to shrink herself and pretty much wanted to curl up in a hole and disappear. The tom cats presence strangely enough scared Rain. How do I get myself into these situations? Rain thought.

Posts: 1920Theo pads over to the small pile of mice and places the rabbit on top. "It's good for you to eat a variety of prey, so I crossed a border or two to catch this for you." He pads back to the entrance, getting another good look at Rain before pushing out past the branch.


"Stay here." Sheol mews and follows Theo out.


"What did I tell you?" Theo mewed, unsheathing his claws. "You need to stay close to the den and well rested. Let me guess, you got bored, went hunting, and decided it was a good idea to bring back someone else's kit?!"


"It's not like that!" Sheol mewed, lowering herself defensively, "Not entirely. She was all alone and starving, I know you saw how thin she is."


"Get rid of her, Sheol, your already expecting your own kits." Theo growled.


"I'm not abandoning Rain." Sheol lifted herself confidently, but as soon as Theo turned to face her, she lowered herself again.


"Rain?" Theo scoffed, "Don't tell me you're attached to that rat because she shares your kittypet name." Sheol huffed and passed Theo an irritated glance. "Sorry, that 'kit'."

Posts: 2783Rain sat up slowly in the nest, whimpering softly. Even though the big tom cat wasn't here in the den right now he still scared her. His eyes didn't seem to have any warmth in them. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths in before silencing herself, straining her ears trying to 'eavesdrop' on their conversation. It wasn't actually that hard to hear them. They didn't really seem like they were trying to keep quiet. The tom doesn't like me and I don't have to take a second glance to comfirm it, Rain thought.

Theo snapped back, "Then take those decisions back to your own den, I'll come deal with you tomorrow." Sheol quickly padded back into the den. "Sorry." she mewed as she picked up Rain by her scruff and just as swiftly left the den and padded past Theo, who was glaring at her the whole way. Once out of Theo's sight, she sets Rain down. "Are you alright?" she mews, licking Rain's forehead.--

Posts: 1920Sheol paused to think hard on this one. He couldn't tell her she used to be a kittypet, that throws off everything she wants to be known for out here. After all, Theo did say that kittypets are never safe in the forest, denying that I was one keeps me alive. "We just.. happened to run into each other. He said he would soon need some help taking care of himself, like something's wrong with him. It went something like... 'help me hunt and I'll spare your life.' I'm not a great hunter, at all, but he said he'd teach me as long as I take care of him." She then turns her head up in though, "Though recently our roles have reversed."

Like isn't this the story everyone uses when they want an excuse for their history? Rain thought. Though the kit decided to just nod her head, as though taking in Sheol's story.

Her heart beating out of her chest and eyes watching the den opening unflinching, she signals Rain to stay put, but only after did she realize the kit might not understand her tail signals. She cautiously creeps to the opening sniffing constantly, and once she sticks her head out, she pants in relief and let's her tail drop to the ground.--

"No need to go outside, this involves her too." he mewed, "I've given this some thought, and decided that if she wants to, the kit can stay." Sheol's expression lit up, but Theo quickly added, "But only until we find out where she belongs. Her eyes flickered to Sheol as she trailed off at her last sentence. "Are dead....." she suddenly interrupted, finishing Sheol's sentence for her.

Training seemed like a waste of time and she wanted to go find her brother as soon as she was well and fit enough to. Plus, Rain wasn't very keen on the idea of training with Theo. Even though the tom had apologised to her she still didn't trust him much. She felt rather edgy when it came to Theo. Well, Sheol seems to trust Theo so maybe I should just try? Rain reasoned with herself, but she found she wasn't very convincing with herself.

She closes her eyes and purrs at the thought of her own wild-born kits, never knowing the dull captivity of being a kittypet. "Sheol!" Theo mews, clearly agitated, "Your dozing off again." Sheol's eyes burst open and her tail shoots straight up, "What?! N-No I'm not!" "Oh really?" Theo pouts, what did I just say about catching birds from the ground?" Sheol lifts a paw and stutters a few syllables. "Hmph, even Rain's paying more attention than you. You remember what I said, right?" Theo tilted his head to the kit, almost pleading that at least something got through one of these two.--

Posts: 1920Theo folded his ears back and slowly lowered his head as his whiskers and tail twitched. He looked like he was about to burst into flames. "Fine, fine! I suppose your moresume interested in finding Rain's brother, right?" Of course he was right, but Sheol didn't want to anger him further by answering his question. She just folds her ears back and waits for the storm to pass. Theo let's out an aggrivated sigh, "Just like always, your smelling for a similar scent as Rain's, but it has to be strong to know for sure. A mother's scent stays with her kits for life. Nose close to the ground and remember where you've been and how long it's been since you last checked there. Now start tracking!" Sheol is a little frightened by this new high he's reached in exploding at them, but she keeps her composure and pouts to show Rain that he can't just do whatever he wants with them. She stands and turns away from Theo, flicking her tail at him. A bold gesture, but someone has to keep his behavior in check. "Let's try this way, Rain." She mews calmly, though with how close she padded to Rain, it looked like she could use some comfort.--

I didn't even ask to train in the first place but no, he has all these massive plans for me, Rain thought, clearly annoyed. He shouldn't have been so harsh on Sheol either, Rain thought. She really wanted to yell all these things at Theo but he was much bigger then her. Who knew what he could do. "Come on" she murmured to Sheol, glaring at Theo. She padded close to Sheol, just in case.

He helped the first day, but said that it was pointless, but Sheol couldn't take that, what if Rain's bother is just as bad as when she found her? When Sheol felt they were far enough away from Theo to hear them, she mewed, "He's getting worse, more hostile than simply upset." As much as she just wanted to ditch Theo, in the end she would have to face him again, she had nowhere else to go. Clearly Theo didn't scare Rain now. Just weird her out. "You know Sheol, you don't have to do this tracking. I can find my brother on my own just fine" Rain said persistently. She actually felt like she needed no help.

Posts: 1920Sheol looked down when Rain said 'intimidate'. He wasn't like that before. Mean, cold even, but he used to let her do whatever she wanted, with a few restrictions, of course. She shakes her head and gets back to the matter at hand, "I can't do that to you, your still so young and it's dangerous to be alone. Besides, I said I would, and I can rest easy knowing that you two are reunited." "Hey!" Theo yowled from behind, "Turn around, your going too far out!" He quickly catches up to them, his fur raised. "That's clan territory past there. If he's there, then your far too late saving him." Sheol tilts her head, "Couldn't we ask if they've seen him?" "You wouldn't get the chance, you'd be hunted down the moment they catch your scent. By the time you'd be able to talk, your already bleeding out under their claws. It's not worth the risk." Sheol knows this isn't true, having met a Thunderclan cat outside of their territory before. "We'll just be at the border. No going in, no clan cats will care, like you said before." Theo takes a long pause, his unwavering slit eyes fixed on Sheol, who could tell he was thinking really hard about this. "...Fine," he finally mewed, "But I won't be joining you, so you'd better be back before moonrise." He turns away and pads off, the way he moved looked like he has a lot of pent up energy. "But finding my brother is going to be much harder then you think" Rain said. "I'll have to travel very far and considering I haven't really seen him before....." she trailed. "You should stay with Theo" she said. "You can help me for now but once I leave I won't let you help" Rain said firmly. She knew it sounded mean but it was for Sheol's own safety.

Sure enough, Theo's claim is right along the Thunderclan border. It's hard to see anything from behind the brush, but since she wants to find someone, Sheol pads out a little into the open. Sure enough, there's a lone cat guarding their territory, and when she lifted her head for a better look, she knew exactly who it is. The cat noticed Sheol and near instantly vanished into the grass. "Wait! Applefall!" Sheol yowled quicky. Applefall lifted her head, she had almost reached them. Sheol swallowed, trying not to think about what could've happened if she didn't call her out in time. "Rain?" Applefall sniffs, "Is that you?"

Rain stared at Applefall in utter confusion. How does she know my name? Or is she talking to Sheol? But she can't be talking to Sheol. Her name isnt Rain, it's Sheol, Rain thought, she was getting really confused. She stared at the stranger, studying her. She hadn't seen this cat before. She had a strange scent on her too. Who is she?, Rain thought, quite curious to know. And how does Sheol know her?, the little kit thought. Her head filling up with questions.

"It's been a while, you look diffrent." Applefall mewed, then looked down to Rain, "Is-Is she yours?"

Sheol dipped her head, "No, her name's Rain. She's looking for her brother, and I wanted to ask if your clan has taken in any kits recently."

Applefall dipped her head as well, seeing that she wanted to get straight to the point. "No, not for many moons now." But she couldnt drop the subject. "You both, have the same name?" She purrs. Sheol gave Applefall a bothered look, but she just purrs again, "Your embarrassed about something as small as that, kittypet?"
