Streamkit opened her small mouth, revealing a small, sharp kit teeth. She yawned, and wished another kit would come and play. They were all sleeping.

Sprawled out lazily on her moss nest, Snowyfur was content and happy in her dreams; chasing trout up and down the river carelessly. She had no idea that her kits had been threatened, or even that they had gone out of the nursery with her sibling, Cloudyfoot at all.
Suddenly, a muscular paw prodded her, and Snowyfur was awake in seconds, looking frantically around for her kits once she had realized that they had disappeared. The queen had looked everywhere except to who had awoken her. Cloudyfoot loomed over her with two sopping-wet kits in his jaws. Arctickit looked like he had been scared out of his skin. Snowyfut glanced up at Cloudyfoot accusingly.
"What happened?" Snowyfur demanded in a low growl. As though Cloudyfoot had been slashed across the nose, he winced. Slowly, he set the kits down, next to their mother; Arctickit squealing as he felt the soft fur of his mother against his pelt. Every time that the young kit blinked, he was lost from sight against his mother's pelt; they were identical.
Snowyfur started brushing her tongue gently across Rainkit's head, realizing that her son looked even more deeply traumatized than Arctickit.
After a few scraped of her tongue against her kit's head, she looked at her brother, her eyes narrowed and judging, as though he had just taken the las piece of kill from the pile, when she hadn't eaten yet.
Gulping down his fears, Cloudyfoot gazed into the icy blue eyes of his sister. The warrior explained their trip down to the river, and how the tides of the shallows had become too much for his nephews. He explained how he had gotten them out of the river and then their confrontation with Bayclaw, the family's enemy. Cloudyfoot told the queen how they made their escape unharmed once Bayclaw had started threatening the kits. Arctickit squealed once Cloudyfoot had brought up the threats.
It was clear that Arctickit was scared out of his mind thanks to Bayclaw, not the river.
Snowyfur looked calmly down at her kits, her loving eyes now breaking through the flames of anger that Cloudyfoot had brought out. "Perhaps we should bring them to Geckoleaf?" she asked timidly, her eyes suddenly filled with fear.

Silverkit bounded over to the other kits, ans snuffled their fur. She mewed up at the Queen, and sat down, tail over paws. She was four moons old, so could talk, but was quiet sometimes.

Rainkit mewed pitifully as he pressed his now damp fur against his mother's soft one. He raised his head expecting to see his father gazing at his kits wit worry. "Snowyfur, where's Dad? We left him with you, right?" He asked trying to stand up, but was too shaken to do that. The small kit looked at his uncle. "Is he playing hide n seek?" He asked excitedly, remembering his father would do that. Rainiit looked around jovially, but saw there was no trace, nor smell of his beloved father. Once he realized Fogfur was well, not with them, he looked to his mother for answers. After all, Fogfur was her mate and mates knew everything about each other, right?! [I]She must know where he is![I]Rainkit thought, happily as he gazed up at her with hopeful eyes.

Streamkit saw the apprentice with the fish come in. The fish's smell wafted up to her nose, and she snuffled, and bounded over to it. The five moon kit thought she smelled something bad in it, and ripped it open with one claw. The fish's insides were a mess of maggots. "Yuck!" she explained.

[I]She must know where he is![I]Rainkit thought, happily as he gazed up at her with hopeful eyes.
Snowyfur blinked down gently at her young kit, "I woke up to find all of you gone, I assumed daddy was with you." The thought had never struck the queen that Fogfur never went with her other kin, and she glanced accusingly at Cloudyfoot, who she suspected had caused it. Cloudyfoot, though, glared at Snowyfur, not daring to let a growl escape his maw. "Fogfur didn't want to join us on our little expedition, so we left him behind." Cloudyfoot was obviously furious that Snowyfur had suspected him of her mate's disaperence. The senior warrior kept an even tone, though, not letting any aggression seep out of his voice, though his amber eyes were ablaze.
Arctickit, a little nervous due to his uncle's anger building up inside, spoke in a small squeak, that could barely be heard above the anger rising between the two siblings. "I thought I saw him by the river, and when we saw Bayclaw." Cloudyfoot whipped towards Arctickit, which made the young kit wince away into his mother's pelt.
Snowyfur shot a glare at her brother, who's sorrow was begining to show in his amber eyes. The queen started cleaning Arctikit, trying to convince him that everything was alright, though she never took her glare off of Cloudyfoot.
Finally, Arctickit peeked out of his mother's pelt, and glanced up at Cloudyfoot with fright, as though he expected his uncle to slash his muzzle. Cloudyfoot looked back at Snowyfur, his eyes showing nothing except remorse at the fact that he had hurt his nephew mentally. "Then I guess he'll show up sooner or later," he mewed gently, his amber eyes flickering towards his nephews' small forms.

Abysslight lay on her side in a nest. The queen's head was bowed in grief. Two of her kits had died just heartbeats after they were born. Though she'd named them both. She still had two. A small black smoke molly, and a dark brown tom with a lighter chest. She curled tightly around her kits, purring happily. Abysslight watched them suckle, their paws needing her belly to help the milk flow. She realized that she had yet to name her two surviving kits. She studied the silver and black bundle of kit fluff, and was reminded of ice covered in shadows. Cold ice. "Sheerkit." She decided for the molly. "And... Nutkit." She murmured for the tom. bending down to give her kits a thorough washing with her tongue. Sheerkit let out a muffled squeak, squirming under the gentle rasp of Abysslight's tongue. Abysslight purred, resting her muzzle across the small kits' backs, closing her eyes and drinking in their milky scent. She soon fell asleep, curled protectively around the dark bundles of fur.

Abysslight woke up and started licking Nutkit, who seemed weak. She was very worried that he wouldn't make it. She raised her head in alarm as he coughed. Quickly, she licked him vigorously, trying to warm him up and stimulate his body to help him breathe better. She checked Sheerkit, but she gave no signs of sickness. She relaxed a little as Nutkit went back to cuddling her. She sighed, purring. (Yeah. That's fine lol).

Sheerkit squirmed beside her brother, rolling away slightly. Somehow, she felt the urge to explore, but then Abysslight swept her back to her belly with her tail, and Sheerkit drifted into sleep.

Abysslight smiled, nuzzling the tiny sleeping forms of her kits. She gave each a thorough grooming, a deep purr rumbling from the sleek black queen's chest. She propped her upper half up so she could look around. She realized how hungry she was, but she didn't really want to leave. But she knew that it was better that she ate, so she stood and padded out of the nursery towards the fresh-kill pile. She would just grab something then come right back and eat it in the nest.

Sheerkit stirred in the nest, noticing the sudden absence of her mother. Her ears were folded and closed, and her eyes too were closed. But she could smell. Sheerkit cuddled up to her littermate, mewling for their mother to return.

Abysslight heard her kits mewling and grabbed a vole before plunging back into the nursery and settling in the nest. "Shhh little ones." She purred reassuringly. "I'm back." She curled around her kits and began eating the vole in neat, rapid bites. She licked her lips and fell asleep curling had tail over her kits.

Sheerkit felt her mother return and stopped her mewling. She quickly searched for a teat and found one. She latched on and started suckling, kneading her mother's belly to help the milk flow. The tiny she-kit purred the whole time.

Abysslight looked at Nutkit, worried. She wasn't sure what to do. She just kept licking him, fear of loosing him deep in her mind. She curled protectively around them, not wanting to lose her kits. Not for anything. She'd lost enough. Her mother and father and littermates were gone. And her kits' father and littermates were gone. She only had them, and they only had her. She wouldn't let them know any more loss. Abysslight continued licking them with strong, rhythmic strokes of her tongue.

Sheerkit wriggled as her mother licked her. She squirmed away, but soon found herself back at her mother's belly. Giving in to the warmth, she lay down, her short kit tail stuck out behind her as she suckled beside her brother.

The gray and white splotched kit blink open his dark emerald orbs and slowly scanned the den. It didn't look like Fadedkit and Doekit were in there. Then she noticed that Nutkit squirmed away from her, and a few heartbeats later she saw him start to open his eyes. Pure joy lit her gaze, and she nudged him encouragingly with the tip of her nose. "Good job Nutkit." She murmured to him, her voice quiet, gentle and proud. She licked him once more, then turned to Sheerkit. "You can do it." Sheerkit heard the gentle, soothing voice of her mother and started to move towards it, her legs flailing, as they were not yet strong enough to properly support her. Silverear nudged Pinekit closer to his sister frostkit, not wanting her two kits to stray too far away from her, they were too small for her to let them wander around the nursery without her new motherly instincts causing her anxiety.

The tortoiseshell queen looked warmly at her first kits. Frostkit, a almost pure white kit besides her gray back, never tried to stray, always pressing her pelt to her mother's and enjoying the warmth of the queen. Pinekit, a brown tabby with a white belly, always wanted to walk away from his mother, but his tripping and stumbling always caught Silverear's attention so he never went to far away.

Nudging his way under his mother's tail, he felt a slight breeze, unknown to him as he had always had the warmth of his sister and mother, but it didn't bother him. He padded away from his sleeping mother, stumbling on his big paws and sniffed moss with no queen laying on it. It had a fresh scent, with a slight watery scent, Pinekit guessed that's what it smelt like outside the nursery. He let out a slight squeal of excitement as he went off to sniff other things.

A small smile spread across the queen's maw as she gazed upon her two kits. Snowyfur, being the usual, over-protective mother, didn't want her children to leave her for their apprenticeships so quickly. "You will both be amazing apprentices," the she-cat remarked cooly, her bright blue eyes solemn and sweet. Bowing her head slightly towards her young, Snowyfur gently started bathing them, with quick, brisk laps. Her bristled young smoothing out small clumps of fur, and captivating any piece of dirt that clung to the small ones' pelts. "Who do you want as your mentors?" Snowyfur queried her sons, her earspricked forward, eagerness permeating from the fluffy she-cat. The queen always wanted her sons' opinion on things, even if it didn't matter too much. Shuffling her paws quietly, Snowyfur, no matter how much she loved her kits, was desiring for her own nest again, one where she didn't have to bother about how comfortable her kits were. The queen exhaled slowly, sleepiness tainting her mind; all she could think of was her ardor to rest comfortably and peacefully through the dark, without having to get up to tend to her young.

Looking doubtfully up at his mother, Arctickit wasn't too sure he would be an 'amazing apprentice'. Being one of the smallest in the nursery, despite being one of the eldest, Arctickit knew that he wouldn't do well in his moons of apprenticeship, and that he would never amount to the cat that Snowyfur thought that he would one day become. At the question of a mentor, Arctickit merely shrugged, his kit-mind making him doubtful of ever becoming an apprentice. Though ambiguity tainted the young one's mind and senses, Arctickit couldn't help but day dream of becoming the best warrior in RiverClan.

He deposited the freshly caught fish at the gorgeous she cat's paws, looking up at her before raising his head to look at his sons. Shaken from his deep thoughts, Arctickit almost leaped out of his stance. "Wh-what?" The kit stammered in a squeak. Arctickit raised his head quickly, blinking hard at his father. "Oh-ohh, sorry... Just... Just daydreaming is all all," a small sigh escaped the kit's mouth, just short of groan. The kit knew that his dream-like state only made his company very irritated at his presence. When his accompaniment would let the tom know of the anger he caused, Arctickit hated himself, and when Fogfur had aroused him, it only reminded him of how many cats disliked him.

The troubled kit glanced over to his brother, his bright blue eyes flashing slightly. "Bucknight would never let you be mentored by your uncle," he grumbled slowly. The tom's irritation was from the fact that he was dreading his upcoming his apprenticeship. The normally excitable kit's personality was gloomy and dull, his baby blue eyes absent of their cheeriness.

Snowyfur, knowing her son well, glanced over with concern at him. "Are you alright, sweetheart?" The queen asked cooly, her voice even and quick. "You've been acting... Different.." The she-cat's voice trailed off, not wanting to give away any of her concern for her kit.

At her mate's offering of minnows, Snowyfur smiled, and nodded her thanks to him. Though she was grateful for the minnows, she looked into Fogfur's eyes, then retained them on Arctickit, as though to say, Have you noticed?

He turned his head towards his mother, slight irritation blooming in his bright blue eyes. Thetom was not too thrilled with the idea of leaving the warm nursery for the frosty air, but he felt as though he had to make up for his snappiness towards Rainkit.

"Yes, yes!" Snowyfur mewed, her tired eyes filled with excitement; perhaps she could talk to Fogfur after her sons left. "Go interact with each other... "Yeah!" Pinekit said with a tiny yawn, showing his small teeth. "Let'a pretend to be leader and deputy! You'll be Ripplestar, and you've gotta think up with my warrior name!" His voice was still crisp with tiredness.

Pinekit padded quickly to his friend's side, he didn't like seeing her sad. "You don't have to see one, they're big and spiky and ugly anyway." He said cheerfully. "I love the name, it's perfect." He pressed against his friend to cheer her up, not knowing what to do, as he'd only seen mothers soothe their kits.

Icekit bobbed her head up and down, smiling. "Sure. What do you wanna talk about?" She looked around, as if to find something to talk about.
"Theres really nothing interesting around here..."

Foxfire laid in a great deal of discomfort. She knew, this time, that the kits were going to be here soon. This time she was more prepared than the first. She had sent Sunbreeze out in search of her mate. She lay there sweating and panting. Shock waves coming every once and a while through convulsions. She winced and yowled sometimes with the wave of pain in brought. Just as another bolt of pain sliced through the slender, beautiful molly, she saw as Webclaw barged into the small den. She let out a purr, despite the pain as her mate embraced her. "It's alright Fox, I'm here now." He said dropping a rather thick stick and a wet ball of moss by his mate's muzzle. As Foxfire's muscles contracted again she released an earsplitting yowl, sure enough to wake every kit in the nursery. She began the pushing, hard labor lay ahead for her.

Foxfire and Webclaw sat together, head lowered next to each other as they admired their second litter of kits. The red tinted queen was feeling a little more relaxed now that the whole ordeal was over. She gazed lovingly down to the new born kits. Sunbreeze approached quietly. "So which order were they born?" she asked, the fellow queen smiled at the couple kindly. Foxfire responded by touching a small red colored tom kit like her first. Then she touched a pale brown dust colored she kit, followed by a cream colored she kit that resembled her father. Then the fourth one, the runt was too far from reach for Foxfire to touch, so Webclaw intruded by pointing to the smallest cream Siamese kit with the long red tail. Sunbreeze responded quietly with "They are beautiful, I know you'll do well with them." and she padded off leaving the couple in peace with their new kits.

The small russet tomkit squirmed as his mother touched him gently with her nose, a gesture in answer to Webclaw's question meaning that he was born first. The only tom of the litter gave a small cry at the cold feeling that surrounded him now, wishing for the warmth of the womb to return to his shivering form. In search of suck warmth, he started to shakily drag himself closer Foxfire, somehow knowing that he had come from her despite understanding what had just happened to him.

He gave a short cry that was quickly silence as soon as he found her warm and welcoming belly, filling with the delicious liquid he'd be feasting on for the next moon until he was old enough to eat proper prey that warriors would bring them. He clearly seemed pleased and content when he latched on and started to suckle. The warm milk helping with his cold skin - with help from his mother's and litter-mate's body heat.

Once he was done, the tiny kit pulled away from where he was suckling, though stayed near Foxfire's comforting belly. He didn't even to curl up as he started to drift off to sleep. The birth had even tired out the young kit - coming out like that, than being so cold and dragging himself towards his mother for food, and the warm food had also assisted in his sleepy manner. It had been a lot for the newborn and he wished to now rest.

The small dusty brown she-kit let out a mewl as her mother touched her. It was comforting, although the kit didn't expect it, so it spooked her, you could say. After her mew of protest, the tiny kit tucked back into her mother's stomach and began suckling once more. Her tiny paws were kneading softly, her claws barely noticeable through the fur. The warmth from her siblings and the soft fur in her mothers stomach sent the she-kit purring. Of course the rumbling was quiet as the kit couldn't muster anything louder for the moment. Her mind was preoccupied on the task in hand. Nothing seemed better than this right now and she certainly didn't want anything to change.

Pinekit peeked around the nest, wanting to see the furballs, he'd mostly only seen older kits til now.

The Maine coon lay sprawled out on her side. Her lighter brown stomach was swollen to the point she looked like she'd explode. Her forest green hues were bright with love and impatience. It would be any day now in which she would be delivering her mate's, Fogstep, kits. Lotusheart had been dreaming of the day she'd greet kits into the world, sadly it had to be under a cruel rule, although she'd raise her kits to look away from cruelty. She didn't care what her leader believed in, she despised it.
Just as she was beginning to doze, the queen felt something grip her stomach. Alarmed, her head flew up and her ears pricked towards her stomach -- the source of the pain. Was it time already? she couldn't help but fret. "Fogstep?" she called gently through the nursery's barriers. Perhaps her mate could soothe her nerves? Nope. Right after the call, her long claws sank into the moss and her ears flattened to her head. The impatience and love died in her hues as pain gripped her body. "Oh my..." she panted, remembering back to the times she had helped other queens kit. She always thought they were over-dramatic, she knew better now. Another wave of pain surged through her body and she looked desperately for Fogstep. "Please just let them be okay..." she murmured through gritted teeth, holding back a yowl.

-- time skip --

Now, Lotusheart was curled up. Four bundles of fur in the curve of her stomach. Love shone bright in her hues once more, maybe brighter than before as she stared down at her first liter. She felt warm all over and very protective of the precious kits. Leaning down, she couldn't help but give each of them a lick upon their heads. Her fluffy tail soon covering them as she pulled away. She wanted them to stay warm in the harshest season of them all. Oh why did she have them now? It wasn't very smart, yet she shoved all the thoughts aside. They were here now and that's all that mattered now.

A grey tuxedo padded into the nursery, a fish in his jaw. He tried to get one of the bigger fresh-kill for his pregnant mate, but due to leaf-bare the fish were getting smaller and smaller - soon the river would be frozen over. He greeted Lotusheart with a kind look from his yellow orbs, but froze in place. His orbs slipped from his mate's face and onto the four tiny bundles she was curled around. Fogstep's gaze was wide with shock at the site.

He first felt overjoyed at the sight of their kits and quickly bounded over towards Lotusheart and their newborns. He dropped the fresh-kill beside her and watched their kits with awe. He sat down beside her and started to lick their small heads, his gaze warming as he watched them beside their beautiful mother. It warmed his heart to see the new lives. "I didn't know I would live them so much so soon!" He exclaimed.

Suddenly he stopped and turned his gaze towards Lotusheart, now more guiltily. "I'm sorry for missing the birth!" He quickly apologized. "I should've been here, were you scared at all?" The warrior clearly looked upset due to now being there for her. He knew he should've been here for his mate and witnessed the birth of their kits. With the world being quiet dark, Quailkit could feel an ounce of fear rippling through them, but the second sensation they felt was the comforting, soothing warmth that surrounded them and soon the gentle rasp of a tongue over their head and immediately they beat back what little fear tried to worm it's way into them and instead attempted to do something to show their happiness, their breath rasping out in an attempted purr. They couldn't quite hear anything, just muffled sounds, their ears still folded to their head, but that didn't matter to them, not at the moment anyways, the only thing they really could focus on was the unbridled hunger gnawing at their stomach, causing them to utter out a rather pitiful mew.

Craning their wobbly head into the air, Quailkit nearly collapsed forward, by nearly I mean they did but was met with the soft grove of their mothers stomach and so wasn't injured. Wait, that smells good.. A thick, sweet smell wafted to their nose and immediately they allowed their nose to follow that scent before finding the source and hungrily latching on, and yet, they were gentle despite how hungry they were. Immediately the kit began to gulp down mouthfuls of the nutritious substance that came out, some dribbling down to their chin and staining the fur around their mouth, but it didn't matter, they were sating their hunger and the warmth in their stomach felt nice compared to the emptiness.
They could feel the presence of the kits around them and for some reason, it caused happiness and comfort to fill them, that breathy, raspy sound, an attempt at a purr, escaping them again, their paws kneading gently at Lotusheart's stomach.

The maine coon looked tired though, but she was waiting for Fogstep the entire time. Lotusheart jumped slightly as the exclamation from the entrance. She had been so focused on her new kits that she didn't notice Fogstep return from hunting. Once the realization settled, she simply let out a purr of amusement, her fur tingling at the sight of her mate. "Don't fret, dear, everything went fine," she purred. Of course the pain was almost unbearable, but thanks to the queens in the nursery, the birthing had been fine and there hadn't been complications. "I don't know if you'd be able to handle it the way we do," she teased lightly, flicking him with her tail before her green hues rested on the newborns.
Lotusheart was overjoyed by the way he had reacted. He cared about them now as much as she did. The innocent little felines were something to truly love after all. As she looked each of them over, she took note that the colors in their fur were starting to show as their pelts grew fluffier with each moment. Soon they'd merely be fluffballs curled up in the curve of her stomach and the thought warmed her heart.
At the mention of naming them, she looked back up at Fogstep and gave him a shake of her head. "I was waiting for you, this was something we should do together," she replied before a small yawn broke into her words. As her jaws clamped shut, she looked down at the kits, already thinking of ideas to name them. They'd need one soon if they were to learn them quickly. Although the naming shouldn't rushed, she didn't want the kits to not enjoy their names or hate them later. "Have any ideas?" she asked after the moments of silence that passed.

The tom was pleased to hear that things had gone fine even without him. If there had bee any complications during the birth - either for their kit or his mate - than he probably would've fallen into a state of depression. He wouldn't know what to do from there. Fogstep did care very deeply for people, which is why it would be extremely difficult for him to bounce back if anything had gone wrong. He gave a friendly smile and nodded his head has Lotusheart joked that he wouldn't have been able to handle it properly anyway. But she was right, he most likely would've panicked and been useless.

His heart lifted when she informed him that she had been waiting for him to start the naming of the four little kits. "Thanks," he purred, and began to study the little kits closely. "There's four..." he began slowly. "Which is good, that means that we both get to name two of them," Fogstep then blinked as he realized he'd be reasonable for naming two of their little furballs. How did Stormblaze name me and my siblings? Did he name any of us or was it all Brightcloud, or maybe the other way around? No one ever told him how important it was to come up with great names for your own kits.

Fogstep leaned forward. "Okay... so you should get to name this one," he said as he placed his nose of the dark kit that looked similar to Lotusheart. "They look like you," he point out with a goofy grin. The warrior bit his lip as he touched a grey tabby. "How about... Smokeykit [ Queen of the Moon ]?" He mewed. It was a name he believed you couldn't go wrong with, and believed that the small molly would grow up and not regret it. The tom glanced up to see what Lotusheart thought of the name and quickly turned towards another kit.

"Hmmm..." the grey tuxedo furrowed his brows as he continued to think up another name for a kit, looking between the white with grey splotches and the dark brown one. I already named a grey one, maybe I should also name a brown one? Fogstep thought. He then proceeded to brush his tail over the dark brown kits. "And for this one how about Blossomkit [ TehDerpyShoelace ]?" This one was also like a question, and then again looked towards his mate for confirmation on whether those were actually good names or not. "Now you can name a grey and brown kit too," the tuxedo quickly added, giving her another warm grin.

Lotusheart's green gaze followed the tom's as he named two of the four kits. She purred with delight at the names he chose, looking towards the last two, unnamed ones. A grey one like Fogstep and a brown tabby like herself. She had to think carefully, she wanted them to be unique. Although first, she said the other two mentally. Smokeykit and Blossomkit, "Those are beautiful names for two beautiful kits," she gave her mate a purr before going back to thinking about the last two.
Her gaze settled on the brown tabby similar to her. The only difference was the chest. White like their fathers. Giving it some thought, she began to think that the young kit looked similar to that of a female quail. Quail. That seemed perfect enough. Placing her pink nose on their forehead, she named them. "They will be Quailkit," [Duskflight] she breathed, repeating herself as her head lifted back up so Fogstep will hear. "Quailkit for them," she purred.
Turning toward the last kit, she looked at him for a moment. He was their only son. He looked like a fluffy version of his father. She purred at the thought, although didn't mention it to Fogstep as she assumed he had already noticed it. Thinking about the name once more, it seemed as though she had put more thought into it. Their only son should have a unique name, one that everyone will remember. Then it struck her. She would name him after water, the lake to be more specific. Once more, the Maine Coon rested her nose on the tom "He will be Lochkit," she purred, this time she didn't have to repeat herself as she spoke loud enough for Fogstep to hear.
Once she had finished naming them, she looking up at the grey and white tom for approval, her green hues were shining. She couldn't be more proud or grateful to have the family she does now. Lotusheart only prayed nothing would ever change.

Fogstep was pleased when his mate approved of the name he has given to two of their kits. He watched impatiently and carefully as Lotusheart began to think up names for the other two kits. He tried to guess what she would name them, but quickly shook his head and decided that the names were for Lotusheart alone to give them. The tom could tell that she was thinking careful about the names and watched her as she readied herself to start the naming.

His ears perked as she gently touched the kit that look identical to her with her nose, giving it it's name. Quailkit, he thought about it for a moment, enjoying the name. "They do look like a quail, huh?" He softly laughed, his eyes warm and already having a look that any loving father would hold for his young kits. Quailkit is such a nice name, though he would love any name that Lotusheart gave them.

As she then turned towards the kit that looked the most like him - though already showing sign of having longer fur like his mother - he glanced back at Lotusheart. He was aware that this was their only son, and wondered if she was going to give him an overly masculine name due to that fact. Instead, she gave him a better name that was forced by the fact that he was a lone tom, which Fogstep was glad for. "Lochkit, that one is also great!" Loch, it was different than the average name - though he probably would've named it something more common such as 'Lakekit', but he knew that Lochkit was a much better name.

"They're all perfect... and so are the names!" The dark grey and white tom exclaimed, licking his mate's cheek. He then gave each kit a small lick on the forehead. He was sure his purrs could be heard from Thunderclan at this point. It felt like his chest going to explode with the happiness, pride and love he held for his newly expanded family.

She shifted slightly in her nest, laying on her side once more, her head resting on the edge of her nest, her thoughts wandering off into their own little world. The grey and white fluffy kit laid beside his mother. Prior to the liberation battle, the only tom had been playful and a happy fluff ball. He'd always want to play with his sisters and Quailkit, even enjoying the company of other kits. But Lochkit had watched his own father's death. It had been a traumatizing experienced that had warped the young tom and seemed to completely changed him.

After witnessing his father's death at the claws of Thornfrost, he had instantly learned what happens to one if they speak out against what they believe is wrong and stand for what they believe is right. Now he knows to keep your mouth shut and just be glad to be alive - because if you complain, than you die.

So he stopped most of his playing and would much rather stay out of the eye of anyone that could do him harm - which could be anyone, since everyone could be dangerous. He'd much rather not risk anything and just fly under the radar. Of course, Lochkit was still kind and did love his family just as much as he always had... he just didn't show it as much due to loosing his playful nature to the former evil deputy of Riverclan.

Blossomkit sat behind her mother. She had always been shy. But now that her father had died, she had no clue what was going to happen. Before the liberation battle, all was happy. But now, so many were dead. Shuddering at the thought, she walked around and laid down next to her brother. Even though they were the same age, she felt like the oldest one there.

After seeing her father die right in front of her, she grew a strong disliking for Thornfrost. Some might call it hate. It satisfied her when Thornfrost was no longer deputy, but not it scared her. There was no leader, and no deputy. She thought they all were doomed. Blossomkit dug herself further into the nest, and closed her eyes, shutting out the outside world. She wasn't sleeping, but she was resting. This was the best way to not cry. I have to be strong, I have to be strong, I have to be strong, I have to be strong, I have to be strong, I have to be strong. She thought, forcing down a swallow. Blossomkit is still going to be shy, but she will be strong. I'm sure this as happeded to multiple cats today, or any day for that given matter. I must not grieve. I can be sad, but I must not grieve.

Quailkit sat near in the crook of their mother's stomach, carefully liking their paw and washing behind their ears like they were shown how to do, listening to the quietness of the nursery around them, but specifically the quietness of their siblings and mother. It was unnerving and it brought that stinging edge of grief back to their heart, reminding them that their father.. Their father was gone. They barely had a chance to know him, but luckily enough for Quailkit, they had been spared the image of their death, the tabby kit had not been present to watch Fogstep die, they had been cowering somewhere, trying to ignore the sounds of the screeching the dying, and the sounds of battle, so they were at least saved from the haunting image. But the grief, that would stay there.

Why can't we just distract ourselves from it? Why do we have to sit in silence and grieve, isn't it more painful that way? Thought the kit desperately as they finished up their washing, the kit's dull green eyes looking first to Lotusheart, then to their siblings before slowly getting up and pawing at their mother's muzzle.
"Mother.. C-Can we play something? Or can you tell us a story? I don't.. I don't want to sit here in silence any more, I feel like it, l-like it hurts us.." The kit spoke softly, their head tilted as they looked at their mother for something to distract them from the grief that plagued them. Though their head did turn to their siblings, hoping that they'd want this as well, surely they didn't like to sit around in silence too right?

Jasperpelt padded into the nursery, the tom's yellow hues searching for Lotusheart. He was a little worried about her; her mate had died, and she was left with kits that probably just reminded her more of him. The tom caught sight of her, a motionless bundle sitting in her nest. Jasperpelt could feel a sharp pang of both regret and sorrow piercing through him. If any cat didn't deserve this, it was Lotusheart. How could this happen to her? All she had ever wanted was a family, and yet even that simple wish had been denied her. Someday. Someday everything will be right. Definitely. The tom thought confidently. This was looking on the bright side; as far as he could, because at the moment Lotusheart looked like the last thing she wanted would be a tom to approach her.

Still, Jasperpelt cared about her...and if she needed space he would give it to her, but right now, he was here to see if there was anything he could do to help. "H-hey Lotusheart...I'm so sorry...and I, uh, wanted to know if there was anything I can to do help. Something I can do for you? For the kits, maybe?" Jasperpelt asked. As far as he knew, Lotusheart seemed to have been born to be a Mother. It was as though mother,y instinct was strongest in her of all the other she cats. Jasperpelt awaited the she cat's answer, his expression a little nervous, as he was unused to dealing with grieving she cats. Was he doing the right thing here? Or was he doing the exact opposite of the right thing?

Her only son was there to witness the heartbreaking moment. The Maine Coon's head moved past Quailkit and Blossomkit as her tongue rasped gently over the gray and white tom-kits head and as she slowly moved back she repeated it to the other three until finally she was listening to Quailkit talk. Lotusheart's ears flicked a little towards them and she processed what they said. She had seemed a little out of it, constantly having to think about what other say before she was able to reply.

"Okay," she spoke. Her voice gentle again like it had always been. "What do you want to play?" She asked Quailkit, waiting for them to reply. Her paw lifted and she mocked them as she tapped the pad of her paw lightly onto the little kit's nose.

Although right before they could reply, her gaze flicked upwards towards a familiar voice. She seemed spooked for a moment until she realized it was just Jasperpelt. "We- we were just about to play a game," she replied gesturing towards Quailkit, although her tail wrapped around the kits a little tighter. It was just habit after the big battle, nothing to take personally. Lotusheart was paranoid she would lose more of her little family and she's vowed to do whatever it took to protect them.

"A game? Sounds like fun...you don't mind if I join in, do you?" Jasperpelt asked, making his voice as calm and gentle as possible. Lotusheart had had too much heartbreak and fear since the battle. He was trying to make things easier for her, not harder...and he definitely didn't want to cause her any more heartbreak. The Bombay's yellow hues swept over her kits, noticing that she seemed protective of them around him. Like she thought he might hurt them somehow. Maybe that was just something she did. Surely she wasn't trying to make him feel unwanted or uncomfortable in any way...right? He awaited her reply, a small smile on his maw as he tried to make the mood a little...lighter, perhaps. Although maybe now was not the time. Maybe it would be better for him to just be there for her for now, later he could try and cheer her up a little.

Jasperpelt's yellow hues swept over the kits again. They certainly were beautiful. It was terrible that they would grow up without a family. The warrior sighed, looking a little more ruffled than usual. Jasperpelt sat down, his position fairly stiff, and he curled his dark tail around his paws as though to close himself off from the rest of the nursery. Despite loving kits so much, sometimes they made him uneasy.

It was as though he thought he might break them, just by touching them. And he definitely didn't want to accidentally hurt Lotusheart's kits. That would be awful...especially after everything else she had already been to. The warrior glanced over at Lotusheart a little expectantly, his tail twitching back and forth as he did so. He was a little worried- after everything that had happened, he wouldn't blame her if she was worried having him around the kits. I hope she thinks she can trust me...I would never hurt her...or her kits...not on purpose, at least, right? Jasperpelt thought, with a nervous expression. The tom sighed, the tip of his tail twitching back and forth with slight anxiety.

His paws felt restless but he didn't want to leave the nursery because he was already in trouble and he might be stuck in the nursery forever if he was caught doing something wrong. He lifted his head up and squinted his eyes, searching around the nursery for something to do.

"I had a dream that I was a grown warrior and I tried to jump at a water vole but jumped straight into the river because I couldn't tell how close I was to everything." He mumbled, running a paw across the ground and scrapping the hard soil with tiny claws. "And then I couldn't get out because I didn't know how close I was to the shore, and I was washed way down shore." He shivered at the thought of the cold water, feeling his pelt fluff up.
"But then I was in a flower field, and everything felt nice and there were a lot of scents. Like all the stuff I can smell near the Medicine cat den, but they weren't the same smells it just reminded me of it because so many smells mixed." He said, liking this dream rather than the other.

"Hey, um, one who's hurt, speak so I can go to you. Please." Ripplekit said softly and comfortly. narwhalgirliv
"I-I'm over here." Only a slight whisper escaped Saltkit's mouth, why would the seemingly apprentice attack her? She could tell he was a clan cat, ShadowClan possibly.

Ripplekit sniffed as a stench hit her nose. "Pinekit. Somebody went into the nursery and they are bleeding and blood is plentyful. Its really bad. Lead me to the kit and I'll clean the wound to get the blood off. Please."

Pinekit also was hit by the stench of blood, and his head snapped towards the source. He knew a queen would wake as soon as they scented it and then the nursery would be filled with the stench of fear and worry. Standing he nudged Ripplekit onto her feet and walked with their pelts touching to the harmed kit.

Sprawled in a dream-state, Arctickit squirmed slightly as he slept. The white kit opened his blue eyes with utter shock; the nightmares- though he knew were unreal- haunted him. Slightly abashed as he stood up on his pillars, Arctickit arched his back until his small form shook. Exhaustion dotted his bright blue eyes as he glanced around the nursery; the peaceful forms of queens sleeping with their kits soothed his mind. The scent of milk filled his nostrils, reminding him of his mother, who was in a neighboring nest, her eyes locked on her kit. "You look tired." Snowyfur remarked quietly, the afternoon sun shining through the patches of brambles, covering the queen in sparkles of light. Arctickit replied with a slight nod as he sidled up close to his mother, his grey, brown, and white tabby tail flicking with sleepiness.

Minnowstream lay in the nursery on her side. Although she knew the kitting wouldn't be easy, she hadn't expected it to draw on so long and exhaust her this much. Light pants escaped her, and she dragged her head up to look at the tiny bundles of fur that made it all worth it. Four tiny kits lay at her side, all healthy.

"They're perfect," Minnowstream murmured, eyes glowing with affection. Already she could feel the strong, never ending love of a mother. Minnowstream purred, looking over Rainkit and Alurekit. "Yes, those are wonderful names," she agreed softly, looking down at the remaining two kits. One, a tiny she-kit, reminded her much of Toothless in her black pelt. Her tail, however, had silver and white markings. She wanted to name at least on of their kits after her wonderful mate, and this kit resembled him greatly. "Runningkit for this one," she meowed affectionately, turning to look at the last kit- their only tom. "Hm, and how about Tricklekit for him?" She asked, looking at his grey pelt.

A raven black colored newborn squirmed as she milked, trying to get comfortable. The kit felt annoyed at her siblings, why couldn't they scout over? She smacked at her nearby sibling, snuggling closer to her mother's warmth. Perfect. They felt satisfied, and full of food needed to help her growth, good. The kit proceeded to paw at her mother's stomach, mewing happily and content. They didn't feel anything but happiness, contentment, and safety. Nothing else matter'd to the young kit finally named Runningkit, what a great name! The small kit purred, snuggling closer, before sleepiness erupted into her. The tiny black kitten squirmed around in the mass of her other siblings. Little did she know, her mother, Minnowstream, and her father, Toothless, were currently naming the newborn kittens. He mewled, squirming and trying to find the best place he could. The newborn tom-kit flipped over on to his back by accident, wailing helplessly as he tried without success or get back on to his belly.

A small glimmer of hope swelled through the young kit as they saw life spark back into their mothers eyes after they had inquired about doing something, but that hope dwindled away when they saw her eyes go to Lochkit, the only one of them that truly seemed to resemble their father. A small smile formed on the kit's lips as their mother in turn licked them on the top of the head, they had always liked it when she did that, it made them feel loved, comforted. Leapardkit sat within her nest, a cool draft of the leafbare wind brushing her back and sifting through her thin pelt. Lashing her tail the small kitten got to her paws, picking her way over the moss that was laid in her path.

Other kits where playing, playing stupid games. She passed a blind kit and contiues on her path. Passing between the high edges of the nursery walls and the nest edges that tower overtop of her. Bringing a soft scent of milk laced with the mixed scents of the

queens and kits. Leopardkit was only 5 moons old butt she believed she knew everything there was to know about being an apprentice and quite honestly she didn't think it was fitting for her, getting up before light to run around. To fall in the dust while fighting to

prove what? That you can knock down someone? Lovely. To run trip and fall into the river during leaf bare? To slip on ice and trek through a snow filled territory? So you get to know what it looks like? You have a nose for a reason. There are scent borders.

Anyway when you get to be an apprentice everyone expects you to grow up. Leave everything behind and embrace the new without giving a second thought. Subconsciously she had reached the edge of the nursery and was faced with the exit.

Looking out into the tunnel of light that stretched out and out. It was fascinating, certainly something she would love to explore. The big wide world beyond the scent markers. She looked away from the bright clearing and back into the dark nursery that had small dapples of light crossing the den. She turned back. Still apprenticeship wasn't so intriguing. No not at all.

At least they thought so anyways, they weren't sure about their siblings and looked over at them for a moment before blinking and perking their ears up as they heard a new voice. Tilting their head, the fluffy kit looked up at Jasperpelt as Lotusheart curled her tail around them tighter. Oh, he wants to join!

"Of course you can join mister! Well I mean.. I wouldn't mind it, but I can't speak for my siblings or mother." Mewed the kit with a polite smile, squirming out of their mothers tail and stumbling up to peer up at him. "What's your name?"
Quailkit knew that Lotusheart knew him.. Or wait.. Did she? They couldn't tell, but he seemed friendly enough.

"I'm Quailkit!"

Jasperpelt looked down at the kit who was speaking to him, and a smile spread across his maw. They were certainly very friendly; and he glanced up at Lotusheart a little uneasily before looking back down at the kit. "Well thank you." He purred, with a grin. The black tom shifted his weight a little...he was nervous that he might accidently step on the kit or worse, trip over them or something like that. He knew he wasn't the most...graceful tom, he tended to be slightly accident prone at times, as hard as he tried not to be. "Quailkit? That's a nice name, I like it. I'm Jasperpelt; but you can call me pretty much anything you want to." Jasperpelt mewed, with another bright smile. He glanced up at Lotusheart again; almost asking her if he was okay to speak to the young kit. He didn't want to harm them in any way, that would be... a nightmare.
Jasperpelt shifted his weight again and curled his tail around himself, as a sort of barrier between him and the kit, although the smile remained and his hues showed his fondness for the young feline. He was sort of unsure whether he was doing the right thing, here with the kits... was it too soon for him to be intruding here? Was she still wishing to be alone? He couldn't tell...it was rather hard to, since he could see she was obviously still grieving over his death but whether she wanted to get on with life or not...that was the hard thing that he had to figure out. Still, Quailkit seemed to like him enough. He couldn't tell about the others. Well, Quailkit's got quite the personality. He thought with a chuckle, glancing down at them with the smile still faint on his maw. He was still unsure of whether he should be here right now or not, but he guessed he would know pretty soon whether he were doing the right thing.

Besides, if Lotusheart didn't want him there...surely she would be comfortable enough to say so. Although her actions had been slightly questionable, she seemed more defensive of the kits since he had come in. But she's just like any other Mother. It's nothing to do with me. I don't think...Jasperpelt thought, with a flick of his tail. He guessed that this had nothing to do with him, it was probably just a precaution; no matter how good of friends he was with her, she was bound to be a little overprotective of them at times. She should really get out a little more...maybe just for a little while...although I'm pretty sure she'll never agree to that, she's bound to want to stay here and watch the kits. And they probably won't want her to leave either. Jasperpelt thought with a more dejected expression. Oh well; Mothers were like that sometimes, he imagined. There was nothing wrong with being a little overprotective. He awaited Quailkit's answer, feeling almost embarrassed as he fixed his yellow hues on them, trying to make himself seem...friendly.

Tricklekit squeaked, squirming against his siblings. The small silver and black furred tom's eyes were closed tight and he struggled, trying to find a place to suckle. He mewled, squirming and trying to find the best place he could. The newborn tom-kit flipped over on to his back by accident, wailing helplessly as he tried without success or get back on to his belly. His fur was just kit fluff, and he shivered slightly in the freezing air, attempting to snuggle closer to the warm body of his mother, yet he couldn't, as he was still stuck on his back.

Minnowstream gave a soft laugh, nudging Tricklekit back onto his stomach with her nose. "He's going to have quite the personality," she murmured lovingly, going back to watching over their little ones. "Oh Toothless, I've never been happier." She pulled her gaze to her mate's, only letting it linger for a couple of heartbeats before turning her attention back to her kits, watching them eat and suckle. Just in case, she nudged little Tricklekit closer to her stomach so he would be able to reach her milk.

Tricklekit squeaked as he was nudged a few times, then latched on and began to suckle the warm sweet smelling milk. He kneaded his mother's belly with his paws, suckling happily at the curve of his mother's belly. He faintly heard voices, but was far too young to understand their meaning, and he continued to knead and suckle without a care in the world, his tiny paws working fast and nimbly.

stripekit felt lilackit next to her as she suckled, she liked the warmth her and her sister shared at that moment. stripekit stopped suckling and let out a quite kit yawn then snuggled close to her mom as she drifted to sleep.

Lotusheart's gaze flashed a little with unease towards Quailkit's friendliness towards her friend. You're being ridiculous, what is Jasperpelt going to do? she scolded herself before allowing her posture to relax a little. She took note of the games Quailkit suggested and decided that if Jasperpelt was going to play with the kits too, that perhaps moss ball would be a good game. Sure they were still a little unsteady, but it would also help them get up and going too, and help them run off the energy they seemed to never run out of. Lotusheart's green hues shifted between the two felines as they conversed, somewhat lightening up that Quailkit never lost their spirit.
"How about moss ball then?" she inquired, her large paw working at the edge of the nest to round up loose moss. She kept working at it until she got a moss ball large enough for the adult cats to use, but small enough that the kits wouldn't get hurt by it and could lift it. She Lotusheart was wise about anything she did for the kits. Her gaze shifted back towards Jasperpelt and she rolled the ball across the ground towards him, nudging Quailkit [duskflight], Blossomkit [tehderpyshoelace], Smokeykit [tiny moony], and Lochkit [hexict] lightly out of the nest in attempt to get them moving. She'd understand if Lochkit didn't want to play, but it was worth a shot wasn't it?

Ripple listened to the kits as usual. She was 6 moons old now, and yet she wasn't called out for apprenticeship. She decided to wait until she was 7 moons old. She was small for a 6 moon old kit though so cats thought she was 5-6 moons old mostly 5 moons old.

Quailkit seemed to have missed the uneasy look that the tom had flashed at their mother, or he seemed to have completely ignored it, they saw no reason to be uneasy of this cat, he hadn't done anything wrong or scary, or not that they know of. And the whole.. The fighting was done right? The strange clan had come in and drove out all of the mean cats right? So there was no reason not to trust this tom, besides, he just wanted to play too!
Quailkit giggled out when they heard that Jasperpelt liked their name, their yellow-green eyes glimmering with happiness and their tail sticking straight up in the air. "Jasper..Pelt.. I think I'll just.. Call you Jasp! Jasp jasp jasp!" The kit purred out, eyes still glimmering with an innocence that only a young kit could have, though very few adults did keep this sort of innocence throughout their life. "Of course if you don't mind me saying that mister." They had said quickly after proclaiming their new name for Jasperpelt, dipping their head with a sheepish smile, but the bright smile of the tom easily relaxed the kit.
Soon after introducing their self to Jasperpelt, Quailkit heard their mother responding to the idea of mossball, the kits ears perking up and their head turning to look at Lotusheart with excitement, immediately purring louder.
I'm sure this is just what everyone needs, a good game of mossball! I hope my siblings don't mind.. I hope they have fun too. Quickly stumbling over, the sandy brown and white kit stood right by her large paw that worked at the moss of the nest, their eyes bright and excited. They loved to play games, it always made everyone so happy! As soon as Lotusheart nudged the ball towards Jasperpelt, the young kit immediately went tumbling after it with an excited mewl before slowing down to allow time for one of their siblings to get to it before them if they wanted to, they usually let their siblings get to it, they thought it was the polite thing to do, and they usually ended up having fun anyways.

And Jasperpelt could hardly believe it had happened...in just one battle, Lotusheart's little family had been torn apart. And now everything would probably change for them, which made him feel worse.
His thoughts were interrupted by the game beginning, and he fixed his yellow hues on the moss ball rolling towards him. He was a little worried that he might accidentally step on one of the kits while trying to get at the ball, but his worries were swept away in the excitement of the game. Surely he wouldn't do something to any of the kits...right? It's just a game. Sometimes accidents happen, but...I don't want to cause one. Jasperpelt thought, as he raised his paw uneasily while Quailkit came hurtling towards it. Reaching his paw out, he pushed it away from him, sending it towards another part of the nursery. His yellow hues gleamed in amusement as he curled his black tail around himself, a smile on his maw as he watched the kits.

Maybe someday I'll have a family like this. Someday...if I can find the right cat. Jasperpelt thought, with a pang of sadness. He had wanted a family for the longest time. But, no matter how hard he tried...it seemed it would never work, he always seemed to lose interest or move on. Why can't I just stay focused? Why can't I ever tell anyone how I really feel? Jasperpelt thought in annoyance, wishing that he would be able to someday. Things always seemed to come up and he would have to brush his current goals off for 'someday.' Jasperpelt sighed, watching the kits running around, although his amusement was gone and replaced by a fierce longing.
Longing to have a family, and longing to get over his irrational fear that he would accidentally hurt someone's kits. It was strange; the black tom loved kits, but he was forever worried that he would step on one, or fall on one, and hurt them...losing their and their Mother's trust. Jasperpelt sighed, his tail tip flicking back and forth like a miniature snake, and he glanced back at it without bothering to stop.

Lotusheart's throat let out a soft purr as finally two of her four kits were up and going. Seeing Blossomkit leaping to her paws and stumbling after the moss ball was a pleasant sight, and to see Quailkit hadn't lost their bright spirit was welcoming too. As for poor Lochkit, she didn't know what to expect from him. She took her mind away from that. She knew fretting over them would only make them falter and with all this going on now, she had to focus on the future for a moment. Her green hues rested on Jasperpelt as he pushed the moss away from him and towards another part of the nursery. Lotusheart knew her kits were safe here, but as soon as they darted in that direction, her eyes followed. She didn't want either of them getting hurt and she certainly didn't want them to fight with each other over the moss ball. She knew how polite Quailkit was about it, but she also knew that one misstep or something going wrong normally ends up in a fight she had to break up. It just what being a mother was about in the simplest way to put it.

Though She caught the last bit of goldencrys comment. Flicking her ears in the direction of the she cat a sudden warmth filled her chest. A proud mother, showcasing her kittens. One day, that will be me. Showcasing my kittens. she thought absent mindedly. Raising herself onto her pink pads she picked her way past an array of queens to meet up with the she cat that lay with her four teeny tiny bundles of fur. Taking a second to admire from the distance she was at. Then continued on her path. "Oh goldencry!" a warm meow broke the odd silence that followed the queens question. She came up next to the queen looking down over her flank with her golden coloured eyes fixated on them. "Oh what a wonderful bunch they are, you must be proud!" she meows a sigh of happiness. She couldn't help but gawk over the queens kits. Like she hoped they would her own litter when the time came. A smile spread ear to ear. "I just want to snuggle them." then she nuzzled the queen affectionetly. A sort of way for her to say comgradulations!

He kept his eyes closed, though he knew they would open, he just didn't feel like it. Sleep, that's what he wanted. Although this wasn't exactly going to happen, since just as he started to drift into sleep, a cough fit erupted from the tiny kit. He sat up shakily, the coughing erupting from his mouth like a tiny squeak. He continued coughing for several moments, his breath coming in shallow gasps. Dark Rose

Giggling out in a lighthearted, innocent matter, Quailkit quickly nodded their head. "That's fair! Tell me when you think of one Jasp!" Purred out the young kit to the tom, quite excited about the idea of a nickname because they haven't gotten one yet. Maybe if their father was still alive..
No, he wouldn't want you being sad over him. He'd want you to make mom and everyone else happy so that's what you're going to do. Flicking their ear, the sandy brown kit decided to focus on playing mossball as the ball went rolling for Jasperpelt, only for him to bat it away to another part of the nursery, a giddy giggle escaping Quailkit as they turned towards the direction the ball had went, pausing to see if any of their siblings would join in before seeing Blossomkit decide to join.
"I'm going to beat you to it Blossomkit!" Purred out the kit to their sister, beginning to make a wobbly run for it, though making sure not to go to fast so that they wouldn't trip over their own paws, or actually beat their sister, they didn't want to do that, they just wanted to introduce a little bit of friendly competition to the game because that always seemed to make it more fun!

Puffing out breath, they focused in on the mossball, letting Blossomkit run ahead of them before scampering a bit faster, trying to go side-by-side now before dropping back a bit.
"Hey you're fast!"
There was nothing but a big grin on the kits lips as they watched their sister make a mad dash for the ball, their tail sticking straight up in the air in their paws plopping awkwardly on the ground as they tried to get used to running.
I hope she's having fun too! I wish Smokeykit and Lochkit would join, but maybe they're still too sad to really think about it.. I hope they'll get happier soon. I don't like seeing them sad.
The smile on Quailkit's lips faltered a bit as he thought about their two brothers still being upset to the point where they wouldn't even want to play a game, at least Lotusheart was purring and laughing and she seemed at least a little cheered up at the game. Quailkit just hated to see their family hurting.. They loved them, more than anything in the world. And they wanted to see them happy.
But again, the sandy brown kit reinforced their smile as the two kits got closer to the mossball, Quailkit hanging back to see what Blossomkit would do when she got to the ball.

Ripplekit then got up and walked out of the nursery.

Creamberry purrs with amusement. Receiving the lick with a smile from ear to ear. The queen was lucky. Lucky the kits survived the birth when leaf-bare was approaching. Sure it would be hard but creamberry was sure she would prevail. They were strong kits for sure. Creamberry fluffed up her pelt and nuzzled the queen gently. "Have you thought up any names yet?" she meows peering over the she cats shoulder with her lovely coloured eyes. She released a deep sigh and looked at the kits watching the four squirm. She shuffled her paws and got up stepping over the queens legs and settling down in front of them. "May I? I would just like to see the kits lil ol faces" she meows curling her tail around her paws.

Jasperpelt watched the kits playing, a purr of amusement rumbling in his throat as his yellow hues darted from Quailkit to Blossomkit and then to Lotusheart. She looked...happy. It was almost as though she had temporarily forgotten about Fogstep, although Jasperpelt guessed she was probably just putting the thought aside for a minute. I wonder...she should really get out more. The fresh air would do her good, I wonder how long it's been since she's left the nursery? Jasperpelt thought, examining his friend with a curious eye. It was strange how happy she could seem one moment considering when he had entered, she had been practically frozen with grief. Obviously nervous and scared as well.
For her family. Not of me. Jasperpelt reassured himself, remembering how cautious she had seemed. Still, she was tolerating him, which was nice enough in itself. Maybe I should see if she would want to go out for a little while...I could watch her kits, maybe...or we could go together, depending on how she feels about this...Jasperpelt thought, shifting from paw to paw in an uncomfortable manner. The smile had faded from his maw, leaving him with a strange expression as his yellow eyes flitted between the three cats again. Seeing the kits playing and Lotusheart's happy expression again, he stopped and shook his head as though trying to push away some bad memory, although he wasn't quite sure what. No. No, it can wait; she's happy right now. I don't want to disturb that. He thought. There would be plenty of other times to go out for a walk...right now was the only time he had seen her happy since Fogstep's death. He wasn't sure when this would happen again, and it would be just wrong and cruel to take it from her.
