Fang stepped closer to the wolf on the ground. "Hello?" he barked quietly.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

The wolf barked in pain. "Help me." He pleaded.

[Rivergold]

Fang stepped back. I understood! He glanced at Fire then back at the wolf. "I will. What is your name?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Aatu." He said.

[Rivergold]

"Aatu," he repeated, trying the name. "My name is Fang."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Fang." He said his name. "Could you please help? My side is in pain. I think it's from whatever that cat did."

[Rivergold]

Fang moved around to the wolf's flank and sniffed. "You aren't bleeding, her fire must have burned your wounds shut."
(He doesn't know what cauterizing is)

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu looked at him.

[Rivergold]

"You're just burned is all," he said, sniffing the wolf again. "Why were you chasing the..." he paused, trying to think of the word, "...sharpclaw?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"I'm assuming you mean the cat." He said. "He's been stealing food from our pack."

[Rivergold]

"Cat," he repeated to himself. "Was he hunting on your land?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"We've caught him hunting on our territory more than once." He explained. "The first time we were nice enough to give him a warning and to never come again, but he just kept coming until all of us were sick of it."

[Rivergold]

Fang looked at the tom. "Did you?" he asked in cat tongue.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Did I what?"

[Rivergold]

"Hunt in wolf territory."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Once, but I didn't know until I saw two of them and they growled at me and I quickly left."

[Rivergold]

"Au--" he couldn't pronounce the wolf's name in cat language-- "He said you hunted several times, after several warnings."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"I haven't." He said. "I've only hunted once there." That was a lie.

[Rivergold]

"Don't lie," Fire said softly.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Ok. Yes I have been hunting on their territory, but I had nowhere else to go and I was hungry."

[Rivergold]

"Then you should have found yourself a nice twoleg," came Fire's reply.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Do you not think I have tried?" He looked at Fire.

[Rivergold]

She looked right back at him, then flicked her tail as she turned away. "Of course, I doubt any twoleg would want a cat such as you. You lack the certain...softness required."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt hissed at her.

[Rivergold]

As Fire padded away, tail in the air, Fang whispered to Bolt. "That was a compliment, by the way."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Whatever." Bolt said walking away.

[Rivergold]

Fire turned her head and called, "Bring them both!"

Fang looked at the tom walking away and sighed. "Come on, you'd best meet my mother." He then looked down at the wolf. "Can you walk?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu nodded slowly and pushed himself to his paws, wincing in pain. Bolt shook his head. Bolt continued walking.

[Rivergold]

A ring of fire suddenly sprung up around Bolt, about two taillengths high and less than half a taillength away from him on all sides. "Come along," called Fire.

Fang stepped to Atau(?)'s side. "Lean on me," he said.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Thank you." Said Aatu and he leaned on Fang. Bolt, the thought of being burnt not on his mind, followed.

Fire led them back to the cave, where her mother bristled at the scent of wolf. "What is going on?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Grass was laying next the kits who were asleep. (Yes they are )

"It's all right," Fang said, walking slowly. "Aatu is a friend," Of sorts, he thought.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt came into view of them.

[Rivergold]

Feather stood, stretching each leg in turn. "And who is this?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"I'm Bolt." He said.

[Rivergold]

"Is there more to your name?" she asked, sitting down and curling her tail round her paws.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

He shook his head. "No. Just Bolt."

[Rivergold]

"Very well Bolt," She mewed. "I am Feather Dancing Through The Sky, but you may call me Feather." She caught the scent of singed fur and tilted her head. "I trust you have met my daughter, Fire."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt nodded while he was still trying to figure out why her name was so long.

[Rivergold]

"We are the last remaining cats of our tribe," she continued, "A tribe that was slain by the very pack of wolves with which you come here."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"I know nothing of these cats you say we killed." Aatu said.

[Rivergold]

Having raised Fang, she knew a little of the wolf's language, thanks to the similarities.

Fang translated her next words. "You are young. It would have been before your time."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu went silent. Grass watched silently with all the kits.

[Rivergold]

Fire stepped in. "What do we do with them?"

Feather flicked an ear, showing she heard. "Where is your pack?" she asked the wolf.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Most are dead because of her." He looked at Fire. "The few that live all would have fled away."

[Rivergold]

"Are they likely to come back?" she asked.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu shook his head.

[Rivergold]

Her tail flicked. "Then you may stay with us."

Flame blinked at her mother then shrugged. We already have a fox, she thought. Why not a wolf too?

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"What?" Grass said. "Why would we keep this wolf here?"

[Rivergold]

Feather spoke to her mate, but her gaze was fixed on Fire. "He won't cause any harm." Her daughter's jaw tightened as she understood. "As for the tom," Feather switched her gaze to the cat in question. "What is your story?"
"This is Bolt," Fire began. "He w--"
She stopped as Feather raised her tail. "I believe Bolt can speak for himself."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt stayed silent for a few moments, then spoke. "I'm bolt and I've been chased for the past few days by his pack." He glared at Aatu who stared at him back. "He's been chasing me and I ran into your territory I guess. I've been running nonstop with little food and little sleep. Then I ran into your daughter and she helped me. And now I'm here."
Aatu growled quietly, but Bolt heard. "Problem?" He asked.
"Only that my pack is dead because of you."
"They got what they deserved." He hissed.
"You shouldn't have been stealing our prey!"
Bolt unsheathed his claws and Aatu snarled at him.

[Rivergold]

"Silence!" Feather stood and glared fiercely at the two of them. "There shall be no fighting in my camp."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu growled at him again and sat down.
Bolt glared at him for some time before sheathing his claws.

[Rivergold]

The fox silently approached the two cats in his territory.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt saw a fox approach him and hissed at him.

[Rivergold]

(*waits for Pebble*)

Fang lifted his head. "Calm down. It's me, Fang."

Bolt heard Fang speak and calmed down.

(*pretends the other cat ran away*)
"Was that a friend of yours?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"No. I just met her." He said.

[Rivergold]

(her? I thought pebble was a guy?)

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

(Whatever darn it)

Fang moved to sit beside Bolt. "Fire said you left, but you're still here,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt shrugged. "I was just fishing." He pointed to the fish he caught. "I was going to bring you guys some and then leave, but I've had no real time to fish."

[Rivergold]

Fang huffed. "I think that's the only fish you're going to catch. There are rarely fish in the creek"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Darn." Bolt said. "I was hoping to catch a few more."

[Rivergold]

"You caught the one, and that's plenty." Fang's tail, thumped softly on the ground. "Do you know how to catch crayfish?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt shook his head. "Is it like catching any other fish?"

[Rivergold]

Fang shook his head. "Technically they aren't fish."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Well then what are they?" Bolt asked with interest.

[Rivergold]

"They're..." Fang trailed off. "It's easier to show you. Come on." He stood and sniffed the ground, moving his head side to side to pick up scent.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt just followed closely.

Fang stopped, and sniffed the sand once more before he began digging. He soon pawed out a medium-sized crayfish and placed his paw gently in it while it waved it's pincers angrily in the air. "This, is a crayfish."

Bolt looked amazed. "Woah."

[Rivergold]

He smiled, bit it, then tossed it to Bolt. "Try it."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt looked at it, hesitant for a moment before crouching down and taking a bite out of it, surprised at the taste.

[Rivergold]

Fang watched expectantly.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt looked at Fang and smiled. "These are delicious!"

[Rivergold]

Fang grinned back, then sniffed the air. "Um, your fish is starting to smell."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt sniffed the air. "Oh yeah almost forgot about that fish." He said as he finished the crayfish. "I guess nobody will want a stinking fish."

[Rivergold]

"I don't think anyone would."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"True." He said walking over to his fish.

[Rivergold]

Fang padded towards Bolt. "By the way, you haven't seen a blue tom anywhere around here, have you?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt shook his head. "No."

[Rivergold]

He frowned. "I wonder where he went..."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Oh well I guess." He meowed.

[Rivergold]

Fang shook out his fur. "You said you wanted to come back to the tribe, right?" He asked, standing.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Do you think they'll let me?"

[Rivergold]

He blinked, then laughed. "Really? After what my mom said? She practically asked you to join." He huffed "And besides, did you really think that Fire would have let you go?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

He shrugged. "She looked like she would."

[Rivergold]

"She said she would too." A sly smile grew on his face. "But she is daughter of Feather Dancing Through the Sky; if she wants a tom, then she'll wait until he makes the first move, and will wait as long as it takes." He rolled his eyes, remembering.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt nodded.

[Rivergold]

"Come on then,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt nodded again and stood up.

[Rivergold]

He led the Tom back to the camp, where Fire lay in a pool of sunshine, her pelt glowing.

Bolt walked in and looked at Fire

She made no acknowledgement of him.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt walked up to her.

[Rivergold]

Her eyes remained closed.

Bolt stopped a little bit away. 'Must be asleep' he thought and quietly padded away.

Her eyes opened and she watched him pad away, her tail flicking once.

Bolt sat down a bit away.

Fang padded into the den to tell Feather.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt watched him leave.

Fire closed her eyes again and gave a sigh of bliss as she stretched.

Bolt laid down where he was and closed his eyes.

She lay where she was, waiting.

Bolt looked back over at Fire. "I swear you were just asleep."

[Rivergold]

"I am enjoying this sunshine," she replied.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt nodded. "Would you mind if I enjoyed it with you?"

[Rivergold]

"It is sunshine," she said simply. "I do not own it."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt walked over and laid down next to her.

[Rivergold]

She shifted aside as not to brush pelts with him.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt looked up at her.

[Rivergold]

"Do not touch me," she mewed calmly.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Ok I guess." He laid his head back down.

[Rivergold]

"In the sunlight, my pelt will burn you."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Bolt remembered the fire. "Oh. Ok."

[Rivergold]

She closed her eyes again.

Bolt soon fell asleep.

[Rivergold]

Fire remained on guard.

Wolf mewed wanting to play.

[Rivergold]

Crayfish growled at him.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Wolf batted at Crayfish playfully.

With a tiny yowl she bit his paw.

Wolf mewed and stopped, not wanting to get bitten again.

With another growl Crayfish curled up and went back to sleep.

Wolf mewed loudly.

[Rivergold]

Crayfish gave a warning growl.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Wolf continued to mew loudly.

With a yowl Crayfish reared up and boxed his ears with her claws.

Wolf mewed in surprise and tried to get her away from her.

Grass sighed and got in between them.

[Rivergold]

Crayfish growled again and curled up.

Grass looked at the two and moved Crayfish a bit away from Wolf.

She growled softly when he did so.

Grass gave her a stern look. "Stop."

She sighed and put her head down, going to sleep.

Grass looked over to Wolf. "And what's with you're mewing?" He asked softly. "You want to play?"
Wolf responded with a mew.

Silver yawned as she woke up.
(I'm gonna change her name to Silver Wings of Dove)

Grass nudged Wolf with a paw, while Old tried to grab the paw.

Silver padded wobbly to where Wolf and Grass were, tripping and falling on her face with a squeak.

Grass walked over to Silver.

She looked up and mewed.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Grass smiled. "You alright Silver?"

[Rivergold]

She stood shakily and mewed brightly.

"Good to hear." He purred.

[Rivergold]

She purred and rubbed against his paw, that being as high as she was.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Grass smiled, then yawned.

[Rivergold]

She mewed up at him.

Wolf mewed and tackled Silver.

[Rivergold]

She squeaked and tried to wiggle out of his grasp.

[Rivergold]

Wolf mewed happily.

Silver wiggled free and tried to tackle her littermate.

Wolf managed to move away and not get tackled.

She squeaked as she tumbled into Grass.

Grass purred in amusement.

With a tiny growl, she turned and ran at Wolf.

Wolf mewed not expecting her to charge at him.

She tackled him full on.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Wolf mewed again.

Grass shook his head.

[Rivergold]

She mewed back and yawned, her energy quickly spent.

Grass purred.

[Rivergold]

She curled up on her father's paws, tucking her head.

"Sweet dreams." He whispered.

Fire's tail twitched as she lay in the sunshine.

Bolt woke up a bit after.

[Rivergold]

She yawned as Fang exited the den. "You going out to look?" she asked. Fang nodded and began to pad upstream.

Bolt looked at Fang. He thought for a moment, but quickly dismissed the thought.

Fang padded upstream, on the scent of Aatu

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu was laying on a rock, he was close to going asleep but there was just something on his mind that kept him awake.

[Rivergold]

(Ooh, and what would that be?)
Fang walked past the rock Aatu was on, pausing and looking around, but not up. After a moment he began to move again..

Aatu rose his head when he thought he heard movement and saw Fang. He decided to keep quiet and laid his head back down.

Fang's tail swished back and forth, and he disappeared into the underbrush.

Aatu sighed and closed his eyes once more.

Fang silently leaped up beside Aatu. "Greetings,"

Aatu opened his eyes and jumped up in panic ready to defend himself. When he saw Fang, he calmed down. "How did you-" He stopped himself and shook his head.

[Rivergold]

He snorted. "I thought that you would leave the territory"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"I did." He said. "For a short time."

[Rivergold]

"But you came back,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Not fully." He said. "I just needed a place to stay for a short time so I could decide what to do."

[Rivergold]

Fang huffed. "Right,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"What you don't believe me?"

[Rivergold]

"You know you could stay with the tribe,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

He shook his head. "I know they won't want me there."

[Rivergold]

Fang laughed. "And who said that?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

He didn't reply.

[Rivergold]

Fang lowered his head to look into Aatu's eyes. "Hey, it isn't easy being a fox among cats. I...I could use a friend."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"A wolf friend?"

[Rivergold]

Fang glanced up hopefully.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu stood up. "Congratulations, you have that friend."

[Rivergold]

Fang blinked. "I...I didn't think you'd say it that quickly..."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu grinned. "I don't normally say it that quickly. I have a few occasions though and this is going to be one of those few."

[Rivergold]

Fang grinned back. "Hey, how about we return with some food?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Sure. What do you normally hunt?" He asked.

[Rivergold]

"Rabbits, birds, mice, crayfish," he shrugged. "The usual." Then his eyes glinted. "But, I was wondering..."

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Thinking what?" Aatu asked.

[Rivergold]

He glanced sideways, his fur growing warm. "Is it true that wolves hunt deer?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu nodded. "Yes. We do."

[Rivergold]

Fang's eyes shone. "Can we hunt a deer?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu grinned. "Sure."

[Rivergold]

Fang jumped straight up and yipped with delight.

[Rivergold]

Aatu smiled. "Cone on." He ran off.

[Rivergold]

Fang followed, tail streaming.

Aatu stopped when he caught the scent of one.

[Rivergold]

Fang halted next to the wolf, sniffing the air. "I can scent one," he said softly.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Over there." He said quietly.

[Rivergold]

Fang watched.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu slowly crept up to it. "You stay here. I'm going to lead it to you."

[Rivergold]

He nodded and found some brush, crouching behind it.

Aatu snuck to the other side of the deer and began to chase it. The deer began to run straight to where Fang was.

[Rivergold]

Fang leaped out in front of the deer, causing it to stop and rear up.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu leaped on top of the dear.

[Rivergold]

Fang grabbed a leg as it thrashed.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

(For some reason I just picture National Geographic just recording all of this)

Aatu clawed and bit into it.

Fang held on until the deer stopped moving.

Aatu stopped and got off the deer. "Good job." He said.

Fang jumped back when he saw the head. "Woah! What's that?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"What the head?" He asked.

[Rivergold]

"What are the branches on top?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Their antlers." He answered.

[Rivergold]

"Antlers..." he repeated, sniffing them.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"They use them when they're trying to defend theirselves."

[Rivergold]

"Wow," Fang murmured. "They look good for gnawing." Feather still didn't understand Fang's need to chew on things.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu nodded.

[Rivergold]

He turned his attention to the huge deer. "h...how are we going to get this home?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Easy. We put it on my back and I carry it."

[Rivergold]

"You..." he looked doubtfully at the giant deer. "Can carry that?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Done it before." He said.

[Rivergold]

"Woah,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu shrugged. "Come on and help me get this on my back."

[Rivergold]

Fang took hold of an antler and pulled back along the body, lifting the head, neck, and part of the shoulders.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu got under it and lifted it up and made sure it was on steady.

[Rivergold]

Fang jumped down and stood next to him. "Now that I think about it, this is probably too much to feed all of us,"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Don't worry." He said. "I'm quite hungry and a wolf will eat a good portion of this.

[Rivergold]

He narrowed his eyes. "Glutton," he teased.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu smiled at that and began walking.

[Rivergold]

Fang walked in front of Aatu, periodically flicking the tip of his tail over the wolf's nose.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Stop." Aatu said grinning.

[Rivergold]

"What?" Fang asked, feigning innocence.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"You know what."

[Rivergold]

He turned and walked backwards. "Do I?"

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

"Apparently not."

[Rivergold]

"Exactly," he said, turning around again.

[Ainz Ooal Gown]

Aatu opened his eyes.

[Rivergold]

Fang flicked his tail over Aatu's nose once more
