The monsters are gone, and Sans is the only thing standing in Frisk's way of murdering the King, and gaining control of the SOULS. However, in a fit of desperation, he created a rip.

A portal.

This rip in space-time sucked everything up, and now Sans, Frisk, Chara, Asgore, and Flowey are stuck between the Timelines, in the Void itself.

And in the shadows lurks him.
