Altair's forest

[Hallowed Echo]

Altair swam in one of the little ponds. He swam out of the water and walked towards his nest in a tree. He dug his claws into the tree bark and started to climb into the hole in the tree. He crawled into the nest and curled into it, drying himself off.

[Hallowed Echo]

Altair looked outside of the tree, "Hi!" He said and jumped out of the tree. He walked over to her, "Hi, I'm Altair. What is your name?" He asked.

Chance looked at him. "Chance." She said, smiling. "Nice to meet you Altair."

[Hallowed Echo]

"The pleasure is mine. You are welcome to stay in one of the abandoned nests in the trees. There is fresh prey and water around." Altair said, his ears twitched and he darted to the right. He came back with a mouse in his jaws. He dropped it at Chance's paws, "You can have it if you want." He said.

Chance smiled. "Thanks Altair, but I just ate." She purred. "A drink would be nice though," She meowed absently, glancing around.

[Hallowed Echo]

"Of course, let me show you where a pond is. Follow me." Altair said and walked towards a nearby pond. He stopped by a pond and waited for Chance.

Chance followed and noticed Altair's missing leg. She didn't let it faze her and she lapped at the water.

Altair laid down by the water, watching as Chance drank the water. "What brings you here, by the way?" He asked.

Chance's ear flicked. "I was fighting dogs with my brother Tobias and chased one off, and here I am." She said.

[Hallowed Echo]

"Oh, where is your brother? If he is hostile, there might a be problem." Altair said. He got up, "There is a larger pond nearby, you can swim in it if you want." He said looking in the direction of the large pond.

Chance's ears flattened. "One of the bigger dogs got him." She said quietly and she walked to the larger pond. She stared at her reflection for a second before stepping into the water.

Altair walked into the water, "Oh, sorry." He said quietly and swam further into the pond. It's felt nice to have cool water lap at his fur. The same with rain, he enjoyed sitting in the rain.

Chance had a silly grin on her face again and she splashed Altair. (Lol sorry!)

Altair laughed and splashed Chance, a mischievous look in his eyes. He laughed and dove under the water.

Chance laughed and dove after him.

Altair surfaced, took a breath and dove back down. He swam further in the pond, looking around for Chance.

(Lol enter drama here XD) Chance let out a muffled scream, her paw tangled in something. She tried to get it free but it didn't work.

Altair swam over towards her and tugged at what caught her paws. He was loosing air but swam up with the object in his jaws.

Chance swam after him and gasped for air. She looked at him. "Thanks."

"No problem." Altair said and swam towards the shore. Once reaching the sand he laid down to rest.

Chance swam after him and got onto the grass. She shook out her fur and sneezed.

Altair looked at Chance, "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Never been better." Chance said, smiling.

Altair got up, "We should rest. You can stay with me in the tree I sleep in." He said, flicking his tail in the direction of the hollowed out tree.

"Alright." Chance said, shaking her fur out one more time/

Altair placed his tail on Chance's shoulder. "I think we should stay away from swimming for awhile." He said. He pressed his flank against against her, "I keep you warm. Don't want you to get sick, it gets lonely when it is only me." He purred.

Chance purred too. "Alright."

Altair smiled and walked towards the tall hollow tree. "Now the top part of the tree is hollow, so you'll have to climb it." He said, driving his front claws into the tree.

Chance sped past Altair, running up the tree like a squirrel.

[Hallowed Echo]

"Showoff." Altair chuckled and climbed into the tree. He spread the moss so that it was big enough for both of them to lay in without being squished together.
(Cue, Thunderstorm. Which Altair is petrified of)

With the sudden bang and flash of light that flashed out of the tree, Altair froze and started shaking.

Chance looked at Altair and laid her tail on his shoulder. "Hey, you ok?" She asked.

[Hallowed Echo]

"I don't like thunderstorms. They bring back bad memories." Altair whispered, laying his head down on his paws.

[shark sailor]

Chance blinked and smiled a bit. "I used to be scared of thunderstorms too." She said, sitting down and curling her tail around her paws. "My mom told me there's nothing to be afraid of, as long as you don't give it the power to frighten you."

"That sounds very wise and smart. I lost my parents to a fire caused by a thunderstorm. I was a kit when it happened." Altair said. "I love sitting out in the rain, just not thunderstorms." He added, looking out of the tree.

"Well, I am tired. Goodnight, Chance." Altair said, curling into a ball and closed his eyes. He quickly fell asleep to the sound of the rain.

Chance looked at Altair and smiled. "Goodnight Altair." Her ears twitched and she looked outside. "And goodbye." She slipped out of the tree and padded through the rain.

Chance looked over her shoulder, her fur already drenched. The tree and Altair looked like anything else now. She looked ahead again continued walking away from the forest.

Altair's ear twitched at the sound of Chance saying goodbye. He lifted his head and looked out of the tree, searching for Chance. "Guess it is just me again." He muttered, laying his head back down on his paws.

Chance stopped walking again. She lifted her head and shouted in frustration.

Altair lifted his head up and looked out of his tree. He crawled out of the tree and walked around. He perked his ears and listened for another cat sound above the thunder.

Chance hid under a tangle of roots, shaking her fur out. She flinched as thunder roared.

Altair looked around, walking past the roots that Chance was hiding in. "Hello? Is anyone there?" He asked. (Probably gonna add more drama and have a dog attack.)

Chance's ears flicked and she crouched down. I know that smell....

Altair stopped and sniffed the roots. "Is someone in there?" He asked. He bristled as he heard dogs barking. He froze where he was standing, "I- I don't what to do." He whimpered.

Chance didn't have to see the dogs to know where they were. She dashed from the roots and attacked a brown and black dog. The scarred she-cat snarled as the dog tried to shake her off.

Altair pressed himself to ground, cowering in fear. He wanted to help Chance, but his body was frozen fear.

Chance was flung off. She growled as she tried to get back to her paws. The dog walked back over and stepped on her, growling.

Altair looked over and got to his paws. He didn't know what came over him, he charged at the dog and repeatedly slashed the dog's nose.

The dog snarled and backed away. Chance groaned, barely moving.

Altair hissed, spat and bristled as he slashed at the dog. "Stay away from her!" He snarled and pounced on the the dog's head. He clawed on the dog's head and bit its ears.

The shook Altair off and ran away.

Chance was laying on her side, eyes closed and chest still.

Lol, k.) Altair snarled one last time and walked over to Chance. He gently prodded her flank. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Chance didn't respond and she had to try her hardest not to smile.

Altair whimpered and layed his head on her flank. "I failed to protect another cat that I cared about." He cried, tears dripping down his chin.

Chance couldn't help it, she smiled. "I care about you too Altair." She purred. She looked at him and wiped his face with her tail. "Aw, you don't have to cry."

Altair looked her, "W-why did you play dead? I thought you died!" He wailed, hurt filling his eyes

Chance sighed and licked Altair's ear. "I've done it to Tobias a million times. It's kinda stuck."

Altair flattened his ears and snuggled closer to Chance. "It's okay. I'm gonna go back to the tree." He said and walked back to the tree.

Chance bounded after him. "Wait up!"

Altair stopped and looked at Chance. He waited for her to catch up to him before continued to walk to the tree.

Chance looked at him and took a step closer to him.

Altair walked next to Chance. "Why did you leave?" He asked the she-cat.

"I figured I'd put you in more danger if I stayed." She stared at the ground as she walked. "I guess I was wrong, just like always." Chance murmured, her tail lowering and her ears flattening.

Altair rubbed his head against Chance's head. "I don't like being alone. You can stay with me. We can keep each other company." He said, quietly.

Chance smiled, for some reason tears jumping into her eyes. They dropped down her face before she could stop them.

Altair looked her, frowning. "Why are you crying?" He asked.

Chance looked at Altair with a smile. "You know what, I really don't know." She said.

Altair smiled, "Let's go back to the tree. I'm getting tired." He said, yawning and walking to hollowed tree.

Altair stopped once he got to the tree and looked at Chance, "Race you to the hole." He said playfully and dashed up the tree.

Chance smirked and dashed after him.

Altair crawled into the hole and peeked his head out, "I win!" He said.

Chance rolled her eyes. "Not fair, I was stepped on by a dog." She said.

"I have three legs! You have al four." Altair argued. He layed down on the on the nest and groomed his paws.

Chance rolled her eyes and smiled, laying down with him.

[Hallowed Echo]

"Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" He asked, looking at her concerned.

[shark sailor]

"My sides and my head aches, but that's it." Chance responded.

[Hallowed Echo]

"Okay, try to sleep. Maybe that will make your head feel better. Goodnight."
Altair said. He layed his head down on his paws and fell asleep.

Chance smiled and she snuggled closer to Altair before falling asleep.
