Sunlight peered through the entrance of the den, and Hawthorn blinked his eyes sleepily. He stretched, though was careful not to wake Iris, who was sleeping beside him. He paused, looking at her sleeping form. The cat shook his head rapidly, and pushed his way outside. Again, he blinked, though this time it was to the bright sun, shining down through the trees. It's a lovely day. He thought, and started padding toward the thicker trees, hoping to find a mouse or two. Twitching his ears, he heard the skittering of small rodents. Swallowing back a purr of satisfaction, he crept closer, stepping lightly on the moss covered floor. With a silent leap, he scooped up two mice with a swift paw, and killed them quickly. He made his way back the den, and called, "Iris, you hungry?"
